I was going to grab you over there actually daisy. feel bad that I couldn't offer any proper advice but I think it's so sad when people stop bfing through lack of support.

DD is still off and on with the feeding but I am managing it better, and if DH has to give ebm then so be it. Think some of it may be teething at the moment. It's a different problem as milk comes out of her mouth when she comes of, as I think she is in pain, whereas the other problem is when she can't get a let-down. Still happens occasionally.

How would DH have defrosted the ebm? Can you microwave it? Don't know what to suggest about the nipping - ouch!

foxythesnowman · 10/11/2007 22:21

Best way is to sit it in cold/tepid water or run it under a tap. Takes a while, but microwaves will heat some and leave some frozen.

Isawbumperkissingsantaclaus · 10/11/2007 22:21

It's not the scenario thing that worried me so much (I have a fairly overactive and ruminative imagination anyway) it was more the dawning realisation of how dependent on DD I feel. I'm not used to being that dependent on anyone. It scares me that she has such a hold on me IYKWIM? Do you just get used to that fear that something might happen to them?

The MHN is going to have a field day with me either way!

DynamiteDaisy · 10/11/2007 22:21

you can run the ebm under a lukewarm tap. If it's in a bag it defrosts pretty quickly. It's not ideal, but for emergencies......

thing is, I'd expressly told him not to give her any formula (this is his first resort if she is grizzly), but hadn't specifically said "there's ebm in the freezer".

He has been trying my patience today.

foxythesnowman · 10/11/2007 22:25

Ahh, Bumper. That's the thing when you have children, all that unconditional love, pouring out of emotion, all focussed on one little being - its pretty full on and overwhelming.

foxythesnowman · 10/11/2007 22:25

N'night xx

DynamiteDaisy · 10/11/2007 22:26

bumper, what you are experiencing is perfectly normal . 'tis nature's way of making sure you will lay your life on the line to protect your LO. It is scary, and you'll get to grips with it, but there will be occasions in your lives when it grips you mightily.

I had a moment when DS was about 14 months old. It was the first time we had been to soft play and he and his mates were in the ball pit. He was on his hands and knees, and an older kiddy (about 4 so should have known better) decided to use DS as a stepping stone and he went under the balls and got scared and was howling. I felt such a visceral reaction to this older child, and it was all I could do to stop myself from grabbing him by the ear and dragging him out of the pit

you do learn to live with it though!

Isawbumperkissingsantaclaus · 10/11/2007 22:31

Thanks, just had to check I wasn't too much of a psycho. Off to bed anyway, night all xxx

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 10/11/2007 22:58

Evening!

I get completely that same thing bumper, you are not alone at all. I imagine all sorts of horrific accidents happening to my dcs and get myself completely panicked about it. They are sort of daydreams (or day nightmares) and they are horrible. Think falling out of pushchair into middle of road, being stolen by someone in a shop. I still feel the same way about my dd and she is 2 1/2. I wonder sometimes at what age the general feeling of panic will subside!

Of course you can join secret santa. I am going out tomorrow, so I'll try and sort it out in the eve. If not I'll do it mon.

Anyone else wanna join in on secret santa? Email me with your name and address and any particular dislikes.

xxx

DynamiteDaisy · 10/11/2007 23:08

hey holly...did you see my post about Ria? Coul you facebook her re the secrt santa as she can't pick up her e-mails at the moment!

where have you been hiding?

and no, I didn't see th diurex advert last night....have been looking out for it tonight, but to no avail!

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 10/11/2007 23:21

I didn't see your post about ria daisy, but I'll email her tomorrow. I hate this new way of viewing posts where the thread is spread over loads of pages. It takes even longer to catch up and I just get fed up and give up after a while.

Hope everyone is ok.

Daisy, my dd has always had really bad nappy rash in disposables or cloth, doesn't make a difference. Metanium worked a bit and so did cocoa butter cream, but it has always been sort of there. It gets better sometimes, but then for no reason it gets worse again. She now has a rash on her bum from sitting on the potty! Poor love! We are making v good progress on the potty, so hopefully it won't be an issue for much longer. Hope you find a solution.

The durex ad was on Paramount Comedy. It made me pmsl!

Isawbumperkissingsantaclaus · 11/11/2007 08:41

Can't add really to what others have said about your feelings, it's normal I think.

Holly did you see my post where I offered to do the santa pairing?

Sputnik · 11/11/2007 11:33

pmsl at the man cold Derlor

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 11/11/2007 11:39

Morning. Love the pics Bumper!

Had a better night. She woke at 2, and 5.15, then came into bed with us at 6.30, but went back to sleep with us until 8.30 Wolfed down half a banana (mashed) with her breakfast. I've been out to Sainsburys (Fairy, I emjoyed it) and now we're set for a quiet day.

We've got the tv on with the remembrance day stuff on, and it's got us talking about where we want to take her when she's old enough to take to see the sights. And then that's lead to looking forward to other things we can do with her - all when she's quite a lot older of course, so we'll just have to be patient.

we took dd to the natural history museum 2 months ago. she slept through it!

Sputnik · 11/11/2007 11:58

We took DD to a Munch (the Scream guy) exhibition at 6 months, she seemed to quite like it. Would be impossible now.

For some reason I am really looking forward to watching The life of Brian together. I would also like to take them to Cambridge, where I grew up, Scotland (western isles - wow), London to do museums london eye etc (my parents are londoners) and about a zillion other places

Jammy, did you mean to send me a blank email?

justbeme · 11/11/2007 12:04

Afternoon!

Bumper - I havent been having the same "daytime" worries as you, but Ive been having some horrible dreams recently - such as Lucy standing at the top of a very high slide in a playground and then crashing backwards onto the ground - and then I woke up!

Do you remember those "brand new" nappies I bought off Ebay that certainly didnt look new? Well I lost out only £3 odd in the end - but the cheeky mare has put 3 of the 5 back up for sale on buy it now! - Still described as brand new!. Neither of us have left each other feedback as I dont want her leaving me anything cheeky.

Sputnik · 11/11/2007 12:08

I was thinking MEOs, then thought about the wrap. wouldn't they lst about 5minutes without? Are there any non-elasticated wraps? Wrap in cling film maybe....

DynamiteDaisy · 11/11/2007 12:09

bumper, lovely photos...

I've got DD on my lap and she has just spent 5 minutes "talking" to the baby, bless her

DynamiteDaisy · 11/11/2007 12:18

thanks for the tips. I've got some imse vimses so i can try those with boosters and just keep changing her. The metanium seems to be working its magic, but she now has really crusty dry skin everywhere and new pink skin underneath. I've never seen a rash like this before. It doesn't seem to bother her at all though.

I've sent DH out with DS today. DH really getting on my t**s for some reason. (maybe cos he's been home since Wednesday )

Us girls are just chilling and about to start on a big roast for dinner with pumpkin soup to start. I've re-kindled my passion for cooking...we baked brownies on Friday.
