Here we go again...

s'ok - found it....DD would like that as well..

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 09/11/2007 20:03

No, for once they didn't seem to take account of her being early. I asked the HV who said it would be fine. Mind you that was at 20.5 weeks, so i wasn't terribly early starting. She seems to be taking to food fairly well apart from the rice. Carrot is the clear favourite so far though.

Bugger, can't get that link to work....don't know why. Sainsbury's sell it anyway, and I hink maybe Boots as well.

Boots organic range of stuff used to be really good (five years ago, LOL)

annobalthebignosereindeer · 09/11/2007 20:14

Think I may be one of the only ones who hasn't weaned yet. Mind you, DS is only 17 weeks...

Am waiting for DS to go to sleep before getting a very large glass of vino rosso.

annobalthebignosereindeer · 09/11/2007 20:17

this stuff is meant to be great and very easy...

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 09/11/2007 20:19

nothing there...

justbeme · 09/11/2007 20:23

I havent weaned yet Annobal (but ours were born on the same day) - however, L had a little taste of mash - but spat most out and she has sucked on some fruit, but nothing really.
Are you allowed to give citrus fruits to babies - something in my head says maybe not?

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 09/11/2007 20:25

no citrus til 6 months

OP posts:
FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 09/11/2007 20:27

i've heard that orange juice can clear constipation in babies, so probably not a good idea to give them citrus quite yet

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 09/11/2007 20:29

Fairy, you've reminded me of the dramatic effects of when I drank a litre of OJ one day when DD was about 3 weeks.

annobalthebignosereindeer · 09/11/2007 20:31

sorry - try this. I don't think Foxy has either, JBM. DS3 just doesn't seem to be interested at all.

Does anyone know anything about Patrick Holford? I was thinking of doing a seminar...

BadZelda · 09/11/2007 20:31

I've only been feeding teensy bits - a carrot stick here, a spoonful of risotto there (I don't cook with salt though). I did give her some of my porridge this morning - she had a mini tantrum when she thought I was going to eat it all! Her poo seemed a bit odd today though...not sure how to work out if stuff isn't agreeing with them? I assume green poo is a bad sign...(banana) - basically just been introducing one new food every couple of days, trying to limit it, with the assumption that carrots, apples, etc are fine - and it's just more complex things that might bother her. LO meanwhile, just grabs at everything and seems to enjoy it all equally - and has started gettng very cross if we don't let her participate in meals.

Hi all - my brain's too fried by the hectic week to work out who's been doing what...but MHC - nice to see you back; bumper - sorry to hear about the thyroid - my mum has it too, but I think partly controls it with diet/herbals? I'll ask her what she does if you like.

BadZelda · 09/11/2007 20:34

oh and she loves sucking on orange segments....and is not yet five months. Just realised that was wrong: bad mummy! And the bit of strawberry E fed her the other day...she seems none the worse though. I have heard that if they are cabable of grabbing and bringing food to their mouth, and chewing, then they're probably ready - don't know if it's true though.

DynamiteDaisy · 09/11/2007 20:37

are strawberries OK just now? DD was loving the one she sucked to death earlier.

She got really cross when we were eating chocolate brownies for dessert and none of it was coming in her direction

I've stepped it up a gear this week as she is nearly 23 weeks and is grabbing at everything when I'm eating if she is on my lap...which she invariably is at mealtimes cos she whinges otherwise.

Her poo has definately changed....(TMI, but I had to scrape it off the fleece liner this morning) Time to start using paper liners I think!

Sputnik · 09/11/2007 20:38

I haven't started with the weaning either, other than the odd suck on raw fruit and veg. He keeps lunging at my plate though.

Citrus is a no-no i think, gives them a sore bum (also tomato)

DynamiteDaisy · 09/11/2007 20:39

BZ, I've read that somewhere too. babyboo was definately chewing things tonight and moving it to the back of her throat really well. She didn't gag at all.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 09/11/2007 20:41

LO's poo was different this morning too. Thicker. We wondered if it was a reaction to the banana, or if it was just because of getting food in general.

OP posts:
BadZelda · 09/11/2007 20:42

LOL daisy - I changed a nappy the other day that almost smelled like POO and had the same though: ah THAT's what the paper liners are for.

Sputnik · 09/11/2007 20:43

In Italy they say no strawberries til 2 years! (allergies). No one ever mentioned nuts though, weird isn't it.

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 09/11/2007 20:45

I'm embarrassed to say that I found red cardboard in DS's nappy this afternoon . That explains the rather soggy 'biscuit box' (from DD's play kitchen) that I found on his mat yesterday. Time to up his food I think, although he's already eating quite a lot twice a day.

BadZelda · 09/11/2007 20:45

Well DD2's still alive - so looks like she's not allergic. I've also heard that the honey/botulism thing is so rare that it's complete overkill to ban it until one - but I'll leave that one to derlor to call I think

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 09/11/2007 20:46

I was told not to give DD strawberries, because of possible allergies, but by the time I heard that she'd had them loads of times with no reaction, so I carried on.

Sputnik · 09/11/2007 20:47

The honey botulism risk is about 1 in a zillion

DynamiteDaisy · 09/11/2007 20:48

where's HHNF....she loves a good chat about bodily excretions, LOL

jammy, probably due to the food in general, but bananas are reknowned for their baby bunging qualities.

Had a great day today with DS playing hooky from school. We played games, watched TV cirled on the sofa and made chocolate brownies.

But, off now for some popcorn (my new addiction) and a glass of vino.

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 09/11/2007 20:50

The first time I changed DD after giving her bananas I was convinced that she had worms as her nappy was full of tiny black 'threads'. I'm sooooo glad I did a google search before taking her and her nappy to the docs!
