hello

did you have a fab time mhc? That's crap about your au pair? does that leave you up the creek?

just got back from dr's, a v painful smear test (ouch) & meeting with the dr. i now have an overactive thyroid, as predicted, and that probably means i will now be on drugs forever And i'll probably get fat too

Sputnik · 09/11/2007 18:07

Oh no Bumper

foxythesnowman · 09/11/2007 18:09

fark me Bumper, you're brave!

Annobal, want to hear about that new sling - have you tried feeding him in it yet?

MHC, hello! How was the holiday? Currently trying to book a weekend there myself, any top tips? (It was Eurodisney wasn't it? Or did I get that completely wrong and you went to Florida? )

annobalthebignosereindeer · 09/11/2007 18:14

Hi mhc. how was your hol? Sorry about your au pair.

Bumper ouch! What a pain re thyroid! Have you had thyroid problems before? I had this after ds2 was born and it corrected itself. A friend also had it quite severely and was medicated for a while, but no longer, so you may not need to be on drugs forever.

annobalthebignosereindeer · 09/11/2007 18:17

Ooh - sling was fab for feeding. I was sat outside (in freezing cold) feeding and noone even noticed! Easy to do too and didn't get a blue boob

DynamiteDaisy · 09/11/2007 18:24

ouch bumper at both the smear and the thyroid. surely the medication will even it out so no weight gain??

Hi mhc, glad you had a good holiday, but bummer about the au pair. It's good to have you back

The PILs brought our high chair over this afternoon so babyboo had her first family meal. She had gluten free pasta with carrot and sweet potato puree followed by strawberry which she sucked the life out of. she did ever so well chewing away on the bits of pasta we fed her and didn't gag at anything. She even had a fair go at getting it in her mouth herself, but tried to wave the bowl in the air so that was removed from her quick smart.

PILs were on good form this afternoon. MIL didn't mention how well my DSIL is doing......FIL mentioned quetly when she was out of the room that SIL is struggling a bit as both boys have colic and my neice is being a bit of a nightmare now she has realised the babies are here to stay. The boys are 11 weeks old on Sunday and weigh 13lbs...DD is only 15.5lbs at 22 weeks . I feel like offering to babysit overnight and give them a break, but that would just be madness!! We'll have our neice over for a sleepover soon.

MIL was rooting around inside babyboo's mouth for teeth, and before she did, dipped her finger in her tea to "clean them a bit". She did it so quickly I didn't have a chance to protest . I had to bite my tongue, really I did.

annobalthebignosereindeer · 09/11/2007 18:29

Oh Daisy, blardy pil. At least DH has gone to manc to visit his parents with ds1 and not me

annobalthebignosereindeer · 09/11/2007 18:32

LOL here

DynamiteDaisy · 09/11/2007 18:34

oh annobal you should have come with him and we could have met up. come up next time, it's only an hour from me!

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 09/11/2007 18:34

Oh Daisy! Blardy IL's!!

My BIL rung tonight and suggested we all visit MIL "mob-handed" so its not so painful

Hi MHC ....glad holiday was good....I've been to the Florida Disney (years ago) and its great ....PITA about aupair tho!

Bumper - hopefully if they balance your thyroid meds well, you won't put on weight.....odd you should lose your appetite tho if its overactive.....

MJ - did your day improve?

annobalthebignosereindeer · 09/11/2007 18:35

Daisy, that would be worth enduring pil for

DynamiteDaisy · 09/11/2007 18:46

lol norty....I like that approach, although last time we were at her house SIL turned up with her three and it was pandemonium.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 09/11/2007 19:16

Can't stop or tea will burn. Day improved a bit, then tumbled downhill at the end. but she's in bed now

Sorry about smear and thyroid Bumper. Sorry about au pair MHC, glad hol was good though, if exhausting.

In-laws!

back later...

Hi MHC, glad you had a good hol but at aupair. How long will it take for you to find another one?

Bumper , soryr about the thyroid and poo-soup! The pump is in the post. DOn't worry about the postage, just put a couple of quid in a charity box of your choice and we'll call it quits. I hope it works for you

Everyone else, helloooooooo

I had a DD-free day today as she went to her childminder and I'm ashamed to say it was bliss. She has been driving me a bit potty recently - terrible two's have well and truly arrived - and I think we both benefitted from time apart iyswim. DS was so excited to see her back at tea-time that he kept giggling so much that he sprayed his baby porridge everywhere - cute yet minging.

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 09/11/2007 19:31

Hehehe with baby porridge going everywhere....DD sneezed with a mouthful of cauliflower and brocolli cheese today.....

Certainly in the future, as I have to pay for nursery whether DD goes or not, there will be days I'm sure when she goes to nursery and I go home to peace ....

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 09/11/2007 19:39

Tea's been eaten, and was though I say it myself delicious! (Pork cutlets, mashed potato, stir-fry sprouts & peppers, and caramelised apples)

DD was much nicer this afternoon after a bit of a nap and some pureed swede & carrot at lunchtime. She watched intently at the hairdressers as they washed, cut, dried and straightened my hair. She's never seen a hairdryer before as at home I just wash and leave to dry, so it was all pretty fascinating. By the end of the afternoon she was worn out again though and got pretty ratty, so it was a quick bath and off to bed. I tried giving her a spot of baby rice before bed, to see if she'll sleep any better, but she wasn't impressed. I think we'll go back to veg & fruit for future meals.

Jammy, I got a sample of THIS with the latest issue of the Boots parenting club magazine. DD loves it and she can be just like mum, as I have a gluten free cereal made from the same ingredients

DynamiteDaisy · 09/11/2007 19:47

mhc, the deer centre is fab. I used to take DS there all the time. He loves the wolves and the birds of prey.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 09/11/2007 19:48

I got one of those too Daisy. Was going to try her with it this weekend. I wasn't going to bother with baby rice other than as a thickener as have been told it's pretty rank. But several people have told me to try it late in the day to help get her to sleep longer, so I caved in today. Wish i hadn't bothered though.

i got some organix porridge with fig and apple as well that she practically bites your hand off to get.

She is so funny and cries when I put the bowl down and she realises there is no more to be had.

Jammy, were you advised to wait a bit with DD being early?

DynamiteDaisy · 09/11/2007 19:58

this stuff here

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 09/11/2007 19:58

My DD loves her baby rice.....I always mix it with fruit though that I've ice-cubed tho....that's breakfast here...mmm wonder if I'll get that sample then...I'm a member of that as well

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 09/11/2007 19:59

Ds loves his Boots baby porridge, sometimes with added fruit. I tend to give it to him at about 5 and I'm sure it helps him sleep

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 09/11/2007 19:59

Ooh Daisy...link didn't work
