Glad you said that daisy, we only bath DD about twice a week!

I hate baby wipes and was still using cotton wool and water until a month ago. What do you use on your washable wipes Holly? I've made a little spray out of chamomile tea and a few drops of tea tree oil, but it smells a bit like disinfectant! Might use lavender and a bit of olive oil in chamomile next time.

Norty, I didn't speak to my mum yesterday but spoke to her just now. Things are a bit better between us, but I still feel a little bit cross with her. Most of it is just because she is worried and lives about 2.5 hours away so feels out of control.

Isawbumperkissingsantaclaus · 07/11/2007 10:04

Daisy, dd does exactly that too.

Isawbumperkissingsantaclaus · 07/11/2007 10:05

Fairy if you are around, I've emailed you re the pump as I don't 100% trust facebook! Thank you!

BadZelda · 07/11/2007 10:05

Bumper - don't fret - I think second babies do stuff a bit faster because they watch their siblings all the time?

I've just had a mini epi at DH: today is my 'work' day...and he seems to think that childcare consists of looking after DD1 - and leaving me with the baby all day. OK, tis not super practical that DD2 is on the breast and won't take a bottle at the moment (though I have high hopes for the nük I bought yesterday) but at least he could make an effort instead of having a lie in, leaving me to get DD1 fed, washed and breakfasted, and then informing me he's taking her off to the horniman for the day?? At least now he's seen sense and he's taking both of them out for the morning.

Actually I feel really bad posting that, Holly, having read what you have to put up with. I've a good mind to come round and put a rocket up your DH's arse! It drives me mad that mine insists on his lie-in every saturday, even though the rational part of my mind says he probably deserves it!

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 07/11/2007 10:10

I've got some of the organic baby oil on here (from my lovely secret stork ). I just wet the wipes and srinkle some oil over them and put them in one of those pampers wipes containers. They smell yummy and make botties soft!

I'm not a huge fan of bathing babies either daisy. Just a wipe round once a day and bath once or twice a week does the trick!

BadZelda · 07/11/2007 10:11

DD1 gets a bath every 2 days because she's a right grubster...DD2 gets in with her sister and me once a week, and also gets a wash when we go swimming. More than enough I reckon!

RIght: I really must work now (only have till 2pm today) - if you see me on here again then SHOUT at me!

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 07/11/2007 10:14

Please do BZ! He needs a good rocket up the bum! I think he should actually go out and get a proper office job where he does 9-5 and see how most people work. He swans about all day, meeting clients when he wants, meets his mates for breakfast and maybe some golf and comes home and gets dinner served to him. Maybe I'll stop cooking, that'll show him!

DynamiteDaisy · 07/11/2007 10:22

Trace, re meeting up next week, I'm trying to track down my DH so I can get his movements for next week (he does tell me, but I just can't remember anything he tells me these days ), as if he can pick DS up from school it saves me having to worry about getting back on time. so, probably Monday if that's not too short notice....

I have a car so getting there isn't a problem, and thought I'd head down after dropping DS off at school so should be there by 10:30 at the latest. Is that OK for you?

DynamiteDaisy · 07/11/2007 10:24

holly, I think your DP should appreciate you more, especially cooking him meaty meals that you can't even eat yourself. I would tell my DH to get his own!

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 07/11/2007 12:30

Bumper, if it's any reassurance, no desire shown by DD to roll, and apart from when crying she's not especially vocal. Murmers a bit (very cutely) but not half as much as some of the babies we see. DH and I do sometimes worry, similarly to you, but we try not to get to het up about these things.

We do use baby wipes, but I insist on getting fragrance free ones at least. DH complained this week that they were more expensive but I insisted. Wouldn't go wiping artificial fragrances near my fanjo, therefore won't do it to DD! (When I used to use the diaphragm was and when I got given some lavender scented gel to use with it once FFS!) Keep thinking about changing to washable wipes (at home anyway), but not quite got off my arse about doing it yet.

annobalthebignosereindeer · 07/11/2007 15:31

I like the idea of the washable wipes. Might have to investigate.

Oh dear, off to change a nappy - might be a while

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 07/11/2007 15:38

DD has cried so much today, my head feels like it might explode! And shoulders hurt from lifting/holding her, knee hurts for some random reason, I'm a right old wreck!

OP posts:
FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 07/11/2007 15:48

Holly, sory you are having a crap time. Me too, if that's any consolation. I hadn't realised just how hard work it would be with 2 DCs. I feel like I am drowning under a sea of clutter and general crap.

Bumper, I will post the pump either tomorrow or Friday. I hope it works for you

Everyone else, hello!

DynamiteDaisy · 07/11/2007 16:40

babyboo has decided that the time between her 11:30 feed and the school run is time to whinge....honestly she's been doing my nut in all this week with it. the onlt times she isn't whinging is when she is asleep or her mouth if full!

She cheers up when she has her admiring audience in the playground (all DSs friends and their mums), then I get four hours of whinging from DS till it's bedtime.

someone make it stop......

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 07/11/2007 16:46

wish I could Daisy. But if I had that kind of power I think I'd use it on my DD I'm afraid.

My head is throbbing, but if I get up to find painkillers I'll wake DD and the crying will start again

OP posts:
BadZelda · 07/11/2007 17:06

Oh dear...sounds like you've had trying days. Mine has been pretty zen and chilled...so maybe I can waft some calmness vibes your way. I find so long as I can keep the kitchen sink / living area fairly clear, I have an amazing capacity to ignore the rest!

annobalthebignosereindeer · 07/11/2007 17:21

We have a playroom and it is lovely to just close the door on it in the evening.

I know what you mean about the whinging - today has not been so bad but yesterday was horrible. i don't think he stopped!

justbeme · 07/11/2007 17:40

Glad Im not the only one with a whingey (sp?)baby - had to put L in her cot today and shut the door as I thought I might lose it!
She slept for half an hour by which time I'd calmed down.
She's just back from a dog walk (clever girl!) and she's asleep!! her bedtime is normally 7pm - she was up early today, but guess I'll eat my dinner and wake her if she doesnt wake up b4.

Holly, your DP sounds very immature (hope you dont mind me saying) - you MUST tell him how you feel otherwise the resentment will build (I know from personal experience in a former life!!)

right dinner beckons

annobalthebignosereindeer · 07/11/2007 19:53

Anyone around? I'm a football widow tonight.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 07/11/2007 19:55

I'm here annobal, just finished dinner. Who's playing (my DH has no interest in such things)

OP posts:
HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 07/11/2007 19:55

Hi Annobal - I'm "sort of" around....about to "chat" to my on-line students for an hour about "breast imaging" - exciting huh?

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 07/11/2007 19:56

lucky you MJ - my DH watches ANY sport

annobalthebignosereindeer · 07/11/2007 20:01

Hi Norty & Jammy. 'We're' watching Manyoo v Kiev. Breast imaging Norty?

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 07/11/2007 20:05

I presume you mean mammograms? In a previous professional "life" I used to help test the mammography xray sets and had some training in reading mammography calibration films etc. Seems such a long time ago now...

OP posts:
HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 07/11/2007 20:14

Yes, any methods to image the breast. So I have 8 of them discussing mammorgrams, ultrasounds and MRIs....I'd much rather talk about babies
