Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

sorry to hear that Foxy - sounds like how L is at the moment (she lost last week)- but HV said to only weigh every month - so now im wondering if everything is ok - but will have to wait another 3 weeks.

so we could support each other over the next few weeks if you like.

flashbangfoxy · 06/11/2007 20:40

I thought I remembered your L did that! Any advice? How are you feeling about it?

Dear oh dear, you were very good about it, and here I am bleating on

Sorry. Will be more supportive in future.

justbeme · 06/11/2007 20:53

Foxy dont be silly!!, I wasnt good about it , felt crap all weekend (and then she refused to feed twice on sunday if you remember) -

Im just feeding her whenever she cries - and its either for food or comfort - but its very wearing - and then when I say that on sunday she took 7oz of formula to people, they say "oh well she needs a bottle then" -
Like you, Ive BF before with no problems, so this is hard - but then before at this age DD1 had started solids. So I really dont know what to do.

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 06/11/2007 20:54

Oh Foxy...sorry to hear about DDs weight....perhaps not getting her weighed for a while will do the trick? Hope the GP helps tomorrow....

Feel a lot better after something to eat....

Note to self: Eat during the day even if throat hurts - it makes you feel better

Off to watch Gordon now.....mmmm

DynamiteDaisy · 06/11/2007 21:05

foxy my lovely for you, but try not to feel too upset about it; 2g is less than a tenth of an ounce and I think your HV is being less than supportive if she is making you feel bad about that. derlor mentioned last week as well that a poo can weigh half an ounce. Is she getting longer? she may be too busy being long and skinny rather than short and fat. I breed the short and fat variety myself.

Talk to your GP, talk to the NCT, see a lactation consultant, but don't feel undermined at a 2g weight loss. the mantra on here seems to be if she is happy and healthy and weeing and pooing, then she is fine, and that weekly weigh ins are counter productive as their weight can vary enormously. I hope you're feelin OK though, and not beating yourself up about it.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 06/11/2007 21:06

I need an ultra early night as didn't sleep so well last night (nothing to do with LO though, just me). So night all.

Hi Annobal - just want to say I bought one of those 'closer' baby carriers recently (the one they had on that programme) and it's bloody brilliant...it's SO comfortable, plus I can breasfeed DD2 in it and cook the dinner (makes life a lot less stressful). I love the fact that when she's asleep it pulls all the way over to make a little cocoon for her...very cosy.

BadZelda · 06/11/2007 21:11

And foxy...all kinds of things could have contributed to that 2g - even how the scales is calibrated. I think they're putting way too much pressure on you with weekly weigh-ins. At least I hope the GP is supportive. At the end of the day only you can know if E is doing well and needs topping up. Makes me that the HV is being so smug about it!

Sputnik · 06/11/2007 21:14

That's the one DKMA modelled for isn't it? She loves hers too

flashbangfoxy · 06/11/2007 21:14

is that the one DKMA modelled?

jbm - are you giving L a bottle of formula a day?

justbeme · 06/11/2007 21:19

No Foxy - I only gave formula on sunday when she wouldnt feed from me.

justbeme · 06/11/2007 21:30

BZ - did you mean that DD2 is BFing - whilst you cook the dinner?
What age/weight do they go up to?
and if you dont mind me asking, how much was it?

flashbangfoxy · 06/11/2007 21:34

we are thinking the same JBM!

BadZelda · 06/11/2007 21:38

I did indeed...well there's some bits that aren't practical (for example getting stuff out of the oven) but if I can do it with one hand and the other to steady her, then she's v. happy feeding whilst I get on with stuff. Also useful at the playground whilst wondering round after DD1. The makers claim it can go up to age 3 as you can turn it upside down and use a different position when they get bigger. Is v. easy to get them in and out when they're asleep too, as it's v. soft and there's no buckles / clips. Basically I'm a total fan: I've HATED every other sling I've ever tried and never used them more than a couple of times.
Was (I consider) expensive at 50 quid (inc. postage) but in retrospect worth every penny.

BadZelda · 06/11/2007 21:40

Actually Foxy I was going to suggest that...but didn't want to seem too pushy. I noticed I was leaving DD2 to wait to feed in the afternoons / early evening because so much else was going on, and after seeing the lady on that programme feeding the baby in the sling it occurred to me that would help the situation a lot. The Bjorn ones are impossible to feed in IME.

BadZelda · 06/11/2007 21:44

And also you mentioned that E is very patient, and doesn't kick off a lot if other stuff is going on...M is quite like that too, partly due to being a chilled baby - but at the same time will make sure she gets her feeds. Hence she was easily distracted by her sister between 4 and 7, but the bedtime feed was starting to turn into a 2 hour marathon.

flashbangfoxy · 06/11/2007 21:44

thanks Zelda - wouldn't have been pushy at all, I appreciate yours, and everyones, advice

Shall we see if we can get the price down for JBM? always happy to haggle, me!

flashbangfoxy · 06/11/2007 21:46

That was meant to be for 2 JBM.

Yes, BZ, demand feeding gone wrong in our case!

Perhaps a routine is right for her, so she sleeps and eats.

justbeme · 06/11/2007 21:48

Lol Foxy!
Ive got a crappy Tomy carrier - L hates it - but if it goes up to age 3, then thats not bad is it? and i could walk my dog through woods etc (whereas thats impossible at the mo).
and she's always falling asleep on my boob and the minute I move her she wakes up again.

mmmm would have to check it out with DP (re cost), but sounds interesting....
What were they called again?

BadZelda · 06/11/2007 21:52

this is where I got it from - but maybe you could ebay one?

BadZelda · 06/11/2007 21:54

And I have a kind of routine for both of them - I think routines can be great.- e.g. I know I want to give DD2 a big feed at 4pm, and put her down for a nap - so that has now turned into storytime for DD1. DD2 still snacks whenever too though...

flashbangfoxy · 06/11/2007 21:57

Well I've emailed them and asked if they'll give us a reduced price for two!

Could be the way forward. I quite like these too cgi.ebay.co.uk/COORY-CARRY-FREEDOM-SLING-FULL-PADDED-BABY-CARRIER-0-2_W0QQitemZ290176796972QQihZ019Q QcategoryZ137725QQcmdZViewItem What do you think?

flashbangfoxy · 06/11/2007 21:59

I'm off now, my horlicks is getting cold/

Night all xx

justbeme · 06/11/2007 22:02

Let me know what they say Foxy!! Lol you're a girl!!

Not sure about that abay link one?

BZ the website says they go up to age 2, and that from 4mths, the baby sits quite upright - is that how you use it now? How does the BF'ing work when out in public? I'd imagine my norks would be on view?

BadZelda · 06/11/2007 22:03

hmm looks like all the weight is distributed on one shoulder...don't know how comfy that would be, but I'd have thought you could feed with it if you wanted to.
