sorry meant milky smell

DynamiteDaisy · 06/11/2007 17:34

question for those feeding formula....how long can I keep milk powder once it's been opened? There is no "once opened use within X no of days/weeks" on the tin.

I was using those wee cartons for mixing with her food, but decided it was too expensive so bought some powdered stuff. now I'm not using it, but will at some point and don't want it to go to waste.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 06/11/2007 17:43

Good question Daisy. We use a little formula but the tin lasts us ages and ages, hadn't thought of shelf life though

Hi bumper, you're very welcome to it. can you send me your address on facebook. My initials are LJ.

My formula (Cow and Gate) says to use within a month if opening.

Had a totally shite day here with both DCs grizzling most of the day for absolutely no reason. Am off to do bath and bed and then collapse for rest of the evening. May pop back later

annobalthebignosereindeer · 06/11/2007 18:19

Boys in bath (DH just home) and DS3 in bed - has grizzled/screamed/cried for about 3 hours this afternoon (despite feeding). Calmed down after rescue remedy though.

Bumper, I put the rescue remedy on his pulse points and that seems to do the trick. If that doesn't work I give him one drop and that calms him down.

I know what you mean about the deodorant but I still use it - i do draw the line at being stinky. Re organic food, it contains a far greater concentration of nutrients.

annobalthebignosereindeer · 06/11/2007 18:20

Spoke too soon re ds3 - he is now awake and feeding again.

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 06/11/2007 18:25

a tin of formula last a week here ....but as FF said, think its about a month...

I get the pre-made stuff as standby (or for lazy days) and Farleys is only 49p for 9oz.

annobalthebignosereindeer · 06/11/2007 18:38

Am thinking of swapping my baby bjorn for an ergo as it hurts my shoulders. Has anyone used an ergo and does it give better support than a baby bjorn.

flashbangfoxy · 06/11/2007 18:48

Evening ladies.

Glad you are here Annobal, was going to text you, can you tell me the name of the Neals yard bf increasing remedy please?

Its not good news this end

Sorry to hear about your row Bumper. I'm with Norty and find it easier to withdraw.

Hope everyone is OK tonight.

justbeme · 06/11/2007 19:07

Ohh Foxy what happened today at the clinic then?

trace2 · 06/11/2007 19:08

hi everyone!
the milk last one month of opening,

daisy next week is ok and so is meadowhall but not friday as we got hospital,, as long as you know chloe wants feeding every 1 1/2 hours so keep having to stop lol.
have you some way of getting there?

trace2 · 06/11/2007 19:10

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas i use farleys too the 2and stage which you on? i have two first stage if any one wants me to post them

trace2 · 06/11/2007 19:11

the ready made though

annobalthebignosereindeer · 06/11/2007 19:19

Hi Foxy, Urtica Urens (30c potency and take when your milk is at its lowest 3-4 times a day) works a treat for me. If that doesn't work, get lac defloratum from ainworths. If they don't have it let me know and i will send you some.

flashbangfoxy · 06/11/2007 19:20

She LOST weight!

Am gutted, as I really tried so hard.

OK, it was only 2g which is pretty blardy negligable anyway. The HV said "I don't mean to be rude, but you can see your GP now" by which I think she meant if you aren't going to listen to me you can bugger off.

Then the fire alarm went off so she finished the appointment in the street, telling me how she had given her advice that what I was doing wasn't enough. I told her that I felt I could do more, and I did. Now I am comfortable that I have done everything I can so will consider giving a bottle.

trace2 · 06/11/2007 19:26

oh foxy dont really know what to say, as i know nothing about breat feeding,

annobalthebignosereindeer · 06/11/2007 19:30

Foxy. I'm really sorry.

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 06/11/2007 19:44

So sorry Foxy. Can't give advice as I'm FF, but it sounds as if you're doing your very best and that is all anyone can do

flashbangfoxy · 06/11/2007 19:53

Thanks everyone, and thanks for the remedies Annobal, will get them tomorrow.

I wouldn't mind so much if the HV could offer some help, rather than saying "I told you to do this". I don't want to give formula, I don't honestly think I need to. So I'm going to see a GP tomorrow, one who I know well enough, she has children and I know will be honest with me. If she says its time to ff then I will. If she says "Bloody HVs, ignore them" I'll stop going for weigh-ins with them and see the dr fortnightly, if she'll let me do that.

Right, enough about me. How's everyone else? How's Chloe doing Trace?

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 06/11/2007 20:20

Sorry to hear it didn't go well Foxy. I hope you get some better help from your GP.

Bloody tree surgeon didn't turn up at all and hasn't rung, so guess he won't be getting the job then!

OP posts:
Sputnik · 06/11/2007 20:27

Oh that's really a bugger Foxy after you tried so hard.
At least you know now if you go for a bottle that you really pulled out all the stops and did what you could.

flashbangfoxy · 06/11/2007 20:27

Grrrrrr for you Jammy. Basic manners to call and say sorry.

annobalthebignosereindeer · 06/11/2007 20:30

Hope you get more sense out of GP Foxy.

Jammy, I HATE it when people don't turn up - esp as we are renting and EVERYTHING is going wrong with this house. We're now on our 8th week of no washing machine . And believe me, I'm no shrinking violet about it...

Have a look [[http://www.football365.com/mediawatch/0,17033,8749_2864304,00.html here] at the non-football story of the day. Oh dear!

annobalthebignosereindeer · 06/11/2007 20:31

oops here

andiemisletoe · 06/11/2007 20:33

oh foxy I really feel for you after all your effort seeing the gp is a really good idea as they may offer another view

you could always come and park up at my house one day I'm renowned for my cake making at school and you would definitely be welcome. I could feed you up with different sorts of cake to increase your supply

jammy well I would say he obviously doesn't need the work and offer it to someone else
