Surely no more sickness to be had?! (Or eah'll start spraying the thread with disinfectant!)

theUrbanDryad · 22/11/2007 09:28

he was sick again about 10 mins ago and now gone all floppy and fallen asleep on my chest, which he never does unless he's nursing! also, his night nappy, which is usually v v heavy was hardly damp this morning and he's not kept anything down afaik since last night. we're seeing the gp again at 10....

MrsCarrot · 22/11/2007 09:29

Also, lots of people seem to have this at dc's school and it is taking ages for them to get better. You could try and do things to reduce mucus generally and just support his immune system, probably through you if you're still feeding. Have you got echinacea/vitc(big dose) and so on. I'd limit things like cheese and bananas too.

I'm off now before I get beaten with the lentil stick.

theUrbanDryad · 22/11/2007 09:32

i thought you weren't supposed to use echinicea if you're bf-ing, it says on the bottle. this is gonna sound awful, but i'm quite a lentil weaver as you know, but this is the first time Z's ever been really poorly and i just want the dr to help me!! pathetic. i know.

i could go on about how it's an indictment of modern expectations about where "help" comes from, but i haven't got time to define my terms....

MrsCarrot · 22/11/2007 09:55

Oh, sorry just read your last post, yes, he does sound worse. Hope the gp helps.

My echninacea says only on medical advice and the clinic said it was fine in small amounts, I have a child's dose myself but if you're in doubt don't have it. Sorry.

JodieG1 · 22/11/2007 14:26

UD how is Z now? I hope you were taken more seriously, he doesn't sound well.

theUrbanDryad · 22/11/2007 16:11

well, the dr gave us some anti-b's, and he's had a really long nap this afternoon, and seems a bit brigher...i was trying to explain to the dr that him sitting quietly on my lap and smiling at her was him being lethargic! but he's not dehydrated and he's had two long milk feeds and not brought them up, so i'm a bit happier.

i went into town afterwards and did a bit of mindless consumerism - Debenhams have a 25% sale on till Sunday and i bought Z a little anorak that he can wear when he's in the sling or the back pack, as well as some nice Lush stuff for me

vinorouge · 22/11/2007 21:29

Dragon - Ellen sleeps in a short or long sleeved vest, a sleepsuit and a 2.5 tog sleeping bag. Her hands are often cold in the morning and I think her room is cold but she seems to be ok.

Vinossecretsanta - I finally collected my parcel today so thank you! Didn;t make it home from work in time for post office on tues or weds so it had to be today.

UD - hope zac gets back to himself soon

Been for tea with my friend and her lo after lo's swimming this afternoon, just at a cheapie place nearby but it was nice to chil out. The babes sat hapily together until her ds bit Ellens finger. She screamd so he then cried too! The staff brought them both a balloon which distracted both from their tears and then the choc pud got attention from them so we all ended up sharing that instead of just the mums!

E&H - how nice of your auntie to send a voucher.

vinorouge · 22/11/2007 21:45

BTW I forgot to say I found out just before I left work yesterday that I had got the job I applied for. Yippee! Its a 6 month secondment on more money and more hours (30 so Ellen will go to nursery for another day). Feeling very pleased with myself but if the truth be known a little bit nervous about doing something new

eandh · 23/11/2007 06:23

Well done vino - excellent news when do you start??

By the way nice early start here today as both dds fell asleep at 5.45 so hattie up at 6 and ellie just woke up

eandh · 23/11/2007 06:31

ud/mrsc how are the lo's today

vinorouge · 23/11/2007 06:57

Not sure of exact date butit will be before xmas. No notice period cos its a secondment so its just co-ordinating the 3 people getting released from their current job at the same time.

Had a good nights sleep cos E didn't wake in the small hours, woke at 6ish for bottle then back to sleep.

Must get on with jobs, we are off to see a friend and her lo today. Just heard on the news that its v cold so must wrap up warm. Then tonight we are going away for the w/e so might not be on again til sun night.

eandh · 23/11/2007 07:15

Have a lovely weekend vino

Ellie watching our wedding DVD (her current tging she has to watch) at the mo and got all upset at me and dh dancing to our first dance (not sure why) and she is most dissapointed that dh didnt have a white horse (apparently as I was a princess with my tiara and dress, veil etc dh was my prince and all princes have white horses!) She keeps asking where she is though, hmm difficult one to explain I have just told her she was the twinkle in dh's eye then!

RGee · 23/11/2007 09:20

Hi all

Glad Z was a little better yesterday UD. How is he today?

Congrats vino on your job.

Eah I've told DH he can do the birds and the bees talk when P's older (I just say that to see the look on his face!)

Pip still miserable. Bright red cheeks. She was in bed last night at 5.15, but woke at 10pm with the most heart breaking sobs/screams. Managed to settle her after 15 minutes but I so nearly cried as she was sobbing so badly. I haven't done that for a good few months. She didn't wake up this morning until 7.30 and went back to bed at 9am . I am missing her company

RGee · 23/11/2007 09:21

Meant to say hi Jodie and Carrot! Nice to have you back, but to hear about more sickness.

eandh · 23/11/2007 09:29

Poor little Pippa hope shes on the mend soon rgee

My hoover has just blown up (well it made a funny noise, then a bang and now not working at all) which for a cleaning freak is a disaster so just reserved one at argos (half price as well ) and when Hattie wakes from ehr nap we'll go and collect before we go to softplay (actually shes been in bed since 7.50 so having a very long nap today) ellie and I have been playing with her disney princess dolls, they all have their accessories on and just detangled ariels (little mermaid) and auroura (sleeping beautys) hair thank god snow whte has a bob

katwith3kittens · 23/11/2007 11:27

Yes I was coffebeanz/baubles this time last year. I remember joining and thinking what namw will I remember ? ..... and then thinking DH always asks me to buy coffee Sorry rambling here ....

DH gone to drs this morning as I think he might have gout well he does have a fondness for port. He thinks its a sprain as he went to London the other day, did a lot of walking in new shoes anyway the docs have done a blood test so we'll
see.

Had the worst night for a long time last night, what with DH and his foot, DS2 has his first cold and his 4th tooth coming through and then the heating came on in the middle of the night for some unknown reason and I was boiling !

Hey ...Well done on the new job Vino the counselling course Jodie you are making me feel I should be doing something more useful than MNetting now !

2Happy · 23/11/2007 14:26

Jodie - congrats on the course, sorry to hear about more bugs
Vino - hey congrats on the job!! great news
UD - hope Z feeling better today
Rgee - ditto P.

Had a shit night last night, ds2 literally got 3 hours sleep max. Another cold - well, probably he just picked up my cold. Though his cheeks are red, a bit like he's been out in a clod wind all day, but not the whole of his cheeks, so I'm hoping sure it's not slapped cheek. Unfortunately dh is off galavanting hillwalking with a buddy. Yup, it's forecast to be minus 9 degrees tonight and he's staying in a bothy in the hills. The bothy does have a fire, unfortunately I got home from shopping this morning to discover he'd left without the coal . So am fully expecting to either come home in the wee small hours, or just walk out to the nearest pub. (It's Mr AB, Loosh, if you're lurking - so you know what they'll be like!) Leaving me and the dses and no sleep. Never mind, I bought myself a nice choclatey treat at the supermarket today

bunnyhunny · 23/11/2007 14:52

Hi everyone
Still so much illness about!! for ud, rgee and jodie. hope you / your los all get better soon.
eah - I must say I'm disappointed your dh didnt have a white horse too . how lovely she thinks you looked like a princes!
kat - had to google gout. I hope your dh is ok.
2happy about the sleep.I think it's even harder when you are used to having a good night, like you are only able to function on little sleep when you are acclimatised to it.

We've had a lovely day so far today. My friend came over with her 2 year old, and our ds's played next to each other for ages. S loves having other children around.

Then I was fiddling with the xbox (not playing it, honest!) when I heard a pattering behind me, and S walked to me all of his own accord . Seems like he is getting much more confident now, and lets go of things regularly. Its quite scary to think he will be able to just wander about on his own.

AND I got my pay for the extra day's supply that I've been doing. I might just have to do more than that, as each day is worth nearly as much as I do on 2 days contract! We aren't going to spend it on Christmas though, as we need to save money to sort out the house. Not enough to make me consider doing proper supply teaching though [terrified emoticon].

we also need to get a new car seat. Any recommendations?

eandh · 23/11/2007 15:53

Both of mine have had the maxi cosi 2nd stage seat (ellies went to my brother as she is in britax hiliner booster thing now so hattie has a new one) easy to fit, feels very secure no movement etc and it reclines so if she leeps her head doesnt flop.

My mum and dad have the britax booster which is better suited to their car (isofix base in theirs) I think which do a bit on their website where you put in your car details and it lists which seat fits it best (maybe worth a search on archives)

this is the one they both have had although got mine in boots as triple points/free delivery and had a points coupon so ended up with £25 worth of advantage card points

2Happy · 23/11/2007 19:53

Bunny, we have the same maxi cose as eah linked to, and I like it a lot better than the britax we bought as a second car seat for dh's car (I find it really stiff to loosen the straps). We're looking at the next again stage; ds2 is big enough to go into stage 2 seats, but if we use the one in dh's car then he won't ever be able to drop off/pick up the kids. It would be easier if we put ds1 into the next stage booster cushions - helped by the fact he is the size of an average 3-4 year old!!

Eandh - no worries, I'm not in any rush for the buggy board. My laptop died so I don't have MSN any more (dh doesn't want it on his computer ), if you give me your email I'll send you my address

eandh · 23/11/2007 19:58

Oh hadnt thought I'd need your address (duh brain!) email is [email protected]

Just bought some brand new xmas pj's on ebay for hattie got them for 99p yey they are very cute and ellie has some I got her earlier in the year in sales so they both have xmas pj's for xmas eve (now whats the betting they'll be dirty on xmas morning - i think ellie will have her selection pack open by 7.30am!)

2Happy · 23/11/2007 21:03

Mrfff. ds2 went to bed at 7.30. He's been coughing/crying every 5 mins or so, not settling...it's going to be another long night . Maybe I should take the puter upstairs and MN/scrabble all night while shushing/feeding/calpoling

bunnyhunny · 23/11/2007 21:05

eah = thanks for the link to the car seat, and the second recommendation 2happy
we will get one tomorrow - I can't imagine how excited S will be to be facing the front

love the thought of christmas pjs. Will have to look out for some for s!

eandh · 24/11/2007 06:31

2happy if i have my 2 year old nephew he goes in ellies hi liner seat in my car (ellie then goes onto a booster seat I have spare in my boot) he is the size and weight of a 3year old and because I literally only have him now and again it wasnt worth getting another stage 2 seat. He loves it and sits very still as he thinks he is such a big boy.

Bunny - halfords, boots, mothercare and argos sell those seats. Boots have 20% off at the mo and triple points this weekend but they are out of stock online but if you have a big boots near you tey may stock them
Also we have one of these on it so she can bash stuff etc activity tray for car seat

eandh · 24/11/2007 06:36

2happy how was ds2 last night?
