Surely no more sickness to be had?! (Or eah'll start spraying the thread with disinfectant!)

UD we did a wee bit about the formula thing in the bfeeding peer support training. They found enterococcus in powder (a gastro-causing bug), which is why the recommendation changed about making up feeds in advance - time was you could, for example, make all the night bottles up in advance and heat when needed. Now IIRC you're supposed to use freshly boiled water and the bottle has to be consumed within 30mins of being made up. The official recommendation is that this should be sufficient and safe and you can keep using powder (which is a lot cheaper than pre-made stuff). But it's your friend's choice, if she dosen't want to risk it, I can understand! Know diddly squat about different types of formula though!

vinorouge · 20/11/2007 19:58

Rgee - was Pippa slapped or had she slapped someone else? I am confused

2happy - hope you got some shut eye

Festivewilkie - you are always so good at changing your name!

UD - sounds like you are a godsend to your mate with new baby. Shopping, babysitting...what a dream

DH had the day off today and I was pissed off when I got home as he didn't seem to have done anything. Made me feel 'whats the point' of rushing about all day when I'm not at work. And Ellen was at nursery so he had no distraction. AAAAAGGGGHHH. He got the silent treatment while I made tea but we have made up now.

Busy day at work. Still no news about the job, apparently they are interviewing the last person tomorrow and will then decide. They started interviewing last Mon and were seeing 11 people for 3 positions so am peeved its taken this long to hear. I just want to know so I can sulk or be happy! Actualy I wasn't bothered about it when I applied, only applied cos my boss wouldn't give me an extra day doing what I do now, but now I've applied and been interviewed I want it! Really I like the thought of working from home a lot....

Dragonhart · 20/11/2007 20:11

Rgee- Luke and Ruth had Slapped Cheek about a month ago. Luke got quite ill with it and was sick too but Ruth was barely ill at all. Just like a mild cold with big red cheeks. Hope she is ok and feels better soon. x

eandh · 20/11/2007 20:19

poor little Pippa.

Has anyone thought about what to get lo for 1st birhday as they are fast approaching (iirc from current people on the thread who post Pippa is first on new years eve) am thinking maybe we'll get Hattie a white gold cross and chain for when shes bigger or maybe a white gold bangle and have her name and the date engraved inside (again maybe for her to wear on special occasions when shes older not everyday use )

theUrbanDryad · 20/11/2007 20:19

2Happy - my worry was that she'll make up all the bottles in advance, the way she did with her older two, which is why i got her the cartons. she can use the hungry baby stuff when he's a bit older.

theUrbanDryad · 20/11/2007 20:22

tbh EAH i don't think we'll bother too much for 1st birthday as he'll get loads of stuff from friends and family anyway! we've asked for people to put money in his trust fund instead of buying christmas pressies, so might say that about birthdays too (i sound like the meanest mumma in the world now don't i??!)

eandh · 20/11/2007 20:23

have to say that I made up bottles for the entire day in advance for ellie and they were put in fridge and sometimes for hattie (although tended to boil water stick it in bottles and leave at room temp and then add powder just before each feed and warm) these are guidelines and they change so regulary that I bet next year they change them again

eandh · 20/11/2007 20:25

I am suffering with 2nd baby syndrome and feeling that because we did things for ellie we have to do them for hattie (although family tend to give them both a small present and cheque for birthdays so thats sorted)We got ellie a cross/chain for her birthday and had E engraved on the back and got her a push along trike (which is still fine so hatie can have that) hence why i want to get her something to keep form her 1st birthday

2Happy · 20/11/2007 20:30

I dare say if i was in her position I'd have a bit of the "well it never did the other two any harm"-itis...and then wake up at 3am panicking that I'd poisoned my kid [neurotic mum emoticon]

eandh - suffering from second child syndrome here too, in that poor ds2 probably won't get much from us - we already have way way too much crap in the house as it is!

eandh · 20/11/2007 20:32

have you found it hard for xmas 2happy people keep asking and suggesting thing and I say 'we havent really got room' or ' we have something like already' etc etc especially as they are same sex (although my nan has bought hattie her own dolly even though we have 4 in the house she has her own special one)

bunnyhunny · 20/11/2007 20:34

RGEE - sorry to hear about the slapped cheek. we get it at school a lot - spreads like wildfire!

wilkie - well done for donating blood. I'm not sure I could face having blood removed voluntarily. I also heard you can't donate if you are under a certain weight?

vino - hope you get good news. It's so stomach churning waiting isn't it. Just ANY news is good, even to let you know you are still in the running.

S has a chest infection He's on the yellow banana flavoured anti-bs (4th time in 10 months ) and so he won't let me spoon feed him, but happily opens his mouth and sticks his tongue out ready for this.

The day after I came home sick from work, my deputy-head and head got the bug. lol. They blame me!

S is 10 months today! Can't believe that it has gone so fast! As eah said - what ideas do you have for birthdays? We are going with outdoor play stuff for christmas (I KNOW it will be cold, but something tells me S is going to very active), but no idea about birthday too.. I like the idea of something he can keep for when he's older.

So when are your lo's birthdays?

eandh · 20/11/2007 20:43

will see if I can find original list bunnyhunny

laughalot · 20/11/2007 20:49

eandh · 20/11/2007 20:52

bunnyhunny · 20/11/2007 20:52

Lizzzombie · 20/11/2007 21:04

Hi! Sorry to hear of all the illness on this thread. Hope you are all better soon.
Bunny - Was S early or late? I think DJ is going to be mega active too. For his birthday I am looking at getting a 1st trampoline from ELC. (hopefully will have discount card from work then!) He spends ages laughing his head off bouncing in his cot. Its really funny to watch, but I am sure its not doing the matress any good!
Just to let my SS know - I picked up the parcel from the post office today...I am so never going to be able to wait till xmas!

bunnyhunny · 20/11/2007 21:07

S started on-time, but ended 1 day over iyswim (loooonnnggg labour).
tramampoline? trapampoline?! S is the same - ALWAYS bouncing! I think you may have made his birthday!

eandh · 20/11/2007 21:09

my best mate has bought hattie a bouncing tigger for her bday as she has one from when her dd was little and hattie goes loopy, he bounces around and she literally chuckles and holds onto something and bounces like mad

2Happy · 20/11/2007 21:09

Grrr! Every time you post that list I correct my entry and still you revert to the old one! ds2 was born on the second
I tried to tell people that we have so much stuff, and ds1 is just as happy to play in a cardboard box, and this is probably the last year of him not being excited and anticipating christmas, so we would really like things we need (like a buggy board, a booster seat, a child bike seat, child trust fund donations). All ideas went down like a budgie sandwich and I know my mother has bought flashy plastic tat, and have just managed to divert mil from doing the same. Grannies perogative, I know, but blody annoying.

Oops shit forgot I had stuff under the grill...

eandh · 20/11/2007 21:12

I have a buggy board if you ant one 2happy (lascal) got all connections

Will amend list and consider myself told off
