Surely no more sickness to be had?! (Or eah'll start spraying the thread with disinfectant!)

OP posts:

LAL I am so gutted for you - as promised if i win lottery I'll buy you a ticket for the 6th dec and pay for you to stay in london for the night!!

UD - Congrats on your friends baby I love the smell of newborn babies (ponders on the fact that she is currently waiting for 3 people to actually have their babies in the next week or two)

Mrs C - Am afraid to say its true its all done but mainly so I dont have to worry about it now - think because this is our 1st christmas at home I want to feel extra organised. Have written a list of food I'll need to buy for dinner and tea on xmas day and need to check what we are doing boxing day.

Havent been up to much - worked this morning, popped up and said hi to my mum and dad as they are off on holiday tomorrow. Been cleaning, cooking, washing and ironing most of the afternoon.

Am off to write begging letters to some local companies for raffle prizes for preschool Christmas bazaar and dh just ordered a chinese mmmmmnnnnnnnnnn...................

eandh · 17/11/2007 19:01

vino hope you feel better soon

Wilkie - hope you are recovering and feeling better and hattie says mum mum (well sounds sort of like mum mum) and makes certain noises at the same thing. Ellie was quite a late talker odd words by the time she was 15/16 months but hit 2 and seemed to explode with words (was always worried about her as Eddas dd talked very well very early - sh knew all her colours by the time she was 20months Ellie has only mastered all her colours in the last 6 months although she can now recognise certain letters and spell/write her name)

eandh · 17/11/2007 19:02

Oh poo forgot to say thanks lizz for all the material it came today and is great I am going to get sewing box out one evening this week after she is in bed - thanks again

2Happy · 17/11/2007 19:07

Evening.
Lal - what a bummer about the tickets . That's really rubbish.
Wilkie - I did notice you were gone, I even scrolled back to see when your last entry had been, but then saw it had only been tuesday and thought I'd look a bit stalker-ish if I asked where you were after such a short time . In future, I shall stalk!!
Vino - am watching strictly too! Breaking national ranks, but I thought Kenny was shite! And the cynical attempts to get votes purely on being scottish just piss me off.
Congrats Auntie UD! How are your boobs? ds2 has taken to biting me on the left and refusing to feed off it. If he keeps on, I am going tohave no milk at all left on that side, it's already drying up; he just bites that side as soon as he gets on. I've tried teething gel pre-feed, feeding him tired, feeding before solids, you name it. Bloody kids.
ds2 has all the sounds, but I don't think any of them are with meaning, if your lo is saying cat with meaning that's pretty impressive! Echo what (forget who!) said - they say dadadada sounds before mamamama sounds - but tis handy because it means when they wake up in thenight saying dadadada, you get to roll over and say to dh "(s)he's calling for you, dear!"
Wilkie and bunnyh - hope you're both feeling better soon.

Wilkie · 18/11/2007 08:08

Biting boobies - sounds very painful!! I want to try b/fing properly next time but defo will have stopped by the time there are teeth involved

Well, J was the spawn of Satan yesterday but has woken up today with yellow gunk coming out of his ear so I am guessing ear infection. Have dosed him up on Nuerofen!

eandh · 18/11/2007 08:53

oh poor little J

Currently have a pink power ranger bouncing around the house (dh dad has bought Ellie the dressing up outfit that she has been begging for) I have a feeling that she will be coming to Tesco's later dressed in it and getting looks from people!!

My friend is in USA at the mo visiting her parents and phoned me last night as she was in disney store and has picked up Ellie a cinderella dress and tiara in the sale for 20 dollars (£10!!!!) Cinderella is her favourite disney princess and as its her xmas present 3 guesses what she'll be wearing on xmas day!!

theUrbanDryad · 18/11/2007 13:41

i'm just cooking a roast chicken for us all. nom nom. Zac's had a runny bum all day, but did let us lie in till 10 so I'm not cross!

he says dadadadada a lot, and makes "t" and "p" noise, but hasn't put anything together to make proper words yet. he signs for milk and daddy (or possible "more", we're not sure) but doesn't say the word. i don't think kids really properly start talking - as in, making the noises and meaning them - till at least 12 months. or that's what we learned in the child language development section of my linguistics A-Level anyway

laughalot · 18/11/2007 16:54

Aidan was very slow at talking but lauren can say nana, mamma, dada, no, bad,row as we always are singing row row row your boat. I think they speak quicker when they have a sibling around

vinorouge · 18/11/2007 18:15

Feeling better today. The chinese didn't stay down last night so good job I'd only had a bit! Been a friends for lunch today and managed fish pie and damson fool there with no probs. Felt a bit sick since i got home but nothing major. Enjoying some peace and quiet as dh taken ellen to his mums overnight. Gonna watch strictly results then get into bed I think. Need to be on the bus 7ish tomorrow so an early start for vino! Hoping its not raining then.

E&H loving the sound of the cinderella outfit!

I was in toys r us this morning and enjoyed looking at toys but bought nothing. Might browse elc website now. I was looking for a travel grobag but they only had 18month plus size which seemed huge. M&P one was no more expensive though.

Lizzzombie · 19/11/2007 08:46

Hiya!!!!!
We've had no computer since Thursday - so if you have missed me that is why I have not been around.
This really is the lurgy thread isnt it. Hope you are all a bit better now.
We have the snot monster visiting us again, DJ has rivers of green flowing from his little nostrils.
Have to say, pmsl at the thought of them talking! IMO they are a bit too young to speak properly yet, and its just imitating sounds etc. Needless to say, DJ chatters away to himself merrily all day, I have no idea what he is saying. Unless its an obscure African dialect he learnt at nursery I am pretty sure its baby gobbliegook, and will remain so for a few more months yet!
Had weird dream about RGEE last night. In my dream she was my Secret Santa and had sent me a package of my old reading books from when I was litte, which had my doodles on them, and she had found them all at a carboot sale. Weird.
Congrats on becoming an Auntie UD!

Too many messages for any more personals, but glad package arrived Eah - post photos when you have done it!

lizzsecretsanta · 19/11/2007 08:50

testing

Lizzzombie · 19/11/2007 08:50

ps - ok, I am a saddo, but I wrote to Huggies telling them how much I was pleased that I had not had any leaks with their product ever and how they were great etc. (was a bit bored last week) and they sent me a £2 voucher. Every little bit helps! Now, am thinking of writing to Cadburys and Nestle for vouchers too!

pps. started at mothercare on saturday, so much nicer than primark - BUT so many little babies! Came home very broody. One lady came in with a baby she had given birth to at 7am on Friday morning. She was shopping in town on Saturday lunchtime! How impressive is that!

lizzsecretsanta · 19/11/2007 08:50

Have you recieved a recorded signed for parcel yet

Lizzzombie · 19/11/2007 08:52

oooh! Yes, something came on Saturday morning, but DP was out so wasnt there to sign for it. Am off to pick it up from Post Office later today!
Thank you SS! Its going to be very hard to wait until xmas.

bunnyhunny · 19/11/2007 08:54

morning!

Hope everyone with lurgy is feeling better. So it IS still a splattered thread! (but splattered with snot perhaps? sorry that is really grim!)

LAL - that is so shit about the tickets. I can imagine how much you are seriously pissed off. hope you get your refund.

EAH and vino - loving the dressing up the kids! have you posted pics of them?

we went away for the weekend, staying round our friends who have 3 children. And S's meal times were transformed with other children there - he really gobbled up his food! ok, so if that's the solution, I know what I have to do - trouble is, by the time another one comes along he will hopefully be eating properly ;)

And 'ca' is cat apparently. Friends have a cat and S spent ages chasing it round saying ca (no input from us beforehand, he just did it.) I think their words DO have meaning - after all zac is signing too - but maybe only us mums understand what that meaning is...

my stomach pains are going. I must say that I do notice they are worse after a night on the beer...

eandh · 19/11/2007 09:04

Morning, Bunny will take a picture of Ellie in power rangers suit later (surprise surprise she has it on again!) we have to go to asda when Hattie wakes and I am trying to persuade Ellie that power rangers don't go to Asda in their suits.

Lizz have made a rug so far and bought some tiny curtain poles on ebay , my parents are on holiday so going to pop up there and borrow my Mums sewing machine to do the curtains (ps am loving the tie back idea!)

Vino hope you are feeling better and bunny sounds as if you have had a lovely weekend. We went to our friends for lunch yesterday (we are godparents to each others children) and Hattie just ate a huge dinner on a plate (with her hands) godson (who is 5) thought it was hilarios and loves her so much kept playing with her and helping her. Sad thing is that friend was telling me (whilst dh's were playing golf in the morning me and girls went round to house) that it looks like they are seperating lots of issues that dont seemed to be able to be resolved (they've been to relate and seen solicitors) I am so upset as they are great people and on the outside appear very happy, not sure how goddaughter/godson will take it as they are young and love their mum and dad so much, also her dh is my dh closest friend and she is a very good friend of mine so if they do split I said to dh we have to remain impartial as I want to be friends with them both as they are e and h's godparents and dont want to lose either of them as friends. They are going to get through Christmas and then make a final desicion

2Happy · 19/11/2007 14:45

OMG I am absolutely bloody freezing! I have just had to turn the CH on at half past 2 in the afternoon! What is wrong with me (please not another lurgy, I still can't talk properly, trying to make myself understood on the phone at work this morning was interesting!).
Ho hum, might even do some christmas present wrapping this afternoon. What a fascinating life...

Wilkie · 19/11/2007 18:16

OMG!!! Save me from the devil child....... What a mare. Have just put a pillow in his cot to see if it helps with his cold so his head is more elevated.

Thank you to my SS who's parcel arrived very well wrapped I have to say!!!! I wanna open it NOW!

Had a pg scare - am 3 days late so did a test this afternoon and it was BFN. Weird thing is that I had an initial disappointment feeling but now am thrilled is was neg. It would have been a nightmare.

Lizz - we have the green snot flowing from J's nostrils too. Quite fascinating at how much and how green it is!!!

Not much to report. Work is stressing me out but that is about it.

Hope all those of you who are ill get better soon - you have my sympathies. Luckily my shitty flu feeling amounted to nothing and I felt fine by Sunday.

eandh · 19/11/2007 19:06

phew wilkie (although when ellie was this age we were ttc )

had boring day went to asda and then been home as cold and wet here, hattie now walking pushing her little ride on truck thing with one hand and then gets very annoyed when she crashes into something!

Ellie been a power ranger with cinderella shoes all day and now shes upset as her best mate wont be at school this week as she has chicken pox (eddas dd) although we are going round tomorrow afternoon as wont hurt if they catch it.

My phone is buggered at the mo as hattie dropped it down the toilet, ellie used to post things in the loo so you't hink I'd have learnt by now. So got to dig my old phone out and change sim cards.

2Happy · 19/11/2007 19:22

ds1 was just over 10m when I got pg with ds2.

The very thought makes me , I cannot begin to understand how I could possibly have been so broody as to actually conceive.

eandh, we have one of these. Bloody marvellous!

eandh · 19/11/2007 19:25

2happy we have one of those actually fitted on the loo but ellie cant move the arm thing if she needs to go(and because i am lazy cant be arsed to move busy and cant keep going up and down to the toilet)I tend to forget to 'lock' it hence phone in loo

vinorouge · 19/11/2007 19:32

Feeling better today yay! Was well enough to go to work too. Dh still away so had to get bus there and back which I haven't done for ages. I had forgotten how mind numbingly boring it is and how long it takes. 1 hr 50 mins there and 1 hr 30 on way home. It takes 20 mins in the car!

DH and Ellen on their way home from ILs. I was in bed and asleep by 9pm last night, awake for 5.30am but natural wake up rather than in response to a crying baby.

Lizz - which part of mothercare are you working in? You gonna be one of those ladies who charges in and out the store with car seats to see if they fit?

bunny - thats good news about s eating more with other people

e&h - sad about your friends separating. I never know what to say in those situations. It sounds like your days are power range tastic at the moment!

2happy - my house is FREEZING too. I kept my hat on for half an hour when I got home and the heating was on.

theUrbanDryad · 19/11/2007 19:34

well after just over a week of doing Elizabeth Pantley's "No Cry Sleep Solution" my little boy no longer wants to nurse to sleep. he now nurses till he's sleepy then rolls over and goes to sleep. feels like he's growing up too fast! it is good though cause he'll now sleep for dh too. now for the next step - getting him to sleep in his own bed he's got a bad cough at the moment, we took him to the dr's today (after school run!!) to make sure it wasn't a chest infection but the dr said his chest was clear so it's all fine! sympathies to those of you with colds though.

i still have no idea what to get for my secret santa!!

2Happy · 19/11/2007 19:35

Ah. Yes I didn't think of that eandh (mostly because I cannot convince ds1 to have anything to do with potty/toilet training. Even bribery isn't working, and it normally does with him). Actually I forget it's there half the time and forget to warn (childless) visitors about it, then wonder why it takes them so long to go to the loo, as they fumble around trying to work the darn thing

vinorouge · 19/11/2007 19:39

Just watching watchdog and they are featuring a company called driev assist who offer hire cars while yours gets repaired. OMG they nearly provided me with a hire car when we had an accident last month but I thought it sounded a bit dodgy so checked with my insurer and they told me to just use the courtesy car from the garage doing the repairs. A lucky escape I thinkk!
