Surely no more sickness to be had?! (Or eah'll start spraying the thread with disinfectant!)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
RGee · 16/11/2007 14:57

Awww bunny. Sorry to hear you have the dreaded s&d bug too. If it's any consolation, mine went after 24 hours. Am v impresssed that you made a quiche. And well done S for eating it!

Just back from the park. LO cried when we left the ducks.

2Happy · 16/11/2007 15:06

Man it sucks having kids - we're all picking up lurgies left right and centre! Hope you're feeling better soon, Bunny, but respect on being able to cook quiche while flu-ridden!

UD - any news from your friend? How old are her kids? Is it putting you off or tempting you to more?!

RGee - somehow my two have escaped being scratched, but I've been expecting it for the last 2 1/2 years! even at 2.5, ds1 does not understand gentle (with cats, or ds2!). Sounds like P's none the worse, phew!

Lal - did the tickets arrive yet?

Lizz - have you had your last primark day? when do you start at mothercare?

Got to say, naptime stories are a little tricky with no voice. ds1 still sat through them tho! Feeling a bit temperaturey now - tho that may be because I've just done the ironing

bunnyhunny · 16/11/2007 15:11

It's the power of lemsip! About 30 mins after one, I feel ok, and can do things, then gradually deteriorate til I have the next one..

Wilkie · 16/11/2007 16:34

Hrmph - see you all pined for me then???

Hd work conference from Wed-Fri. So glad to be home although it went really really well.

J is being generally cute and have missed him SO much. He is constantly walking now - looks like my little man has grown up

DH had a nightmare night with him last night, awake every two hours - I however, slept very well in my lovely king size hotel bed in the suite I was in

Not much to report and you have all chatted too much to do personals!!

I see TT on 11th December in Manc. SO EXCITED. LAL - have you rund ticketmaster???

Oh, and favour to ask. If any of you have a NEXT nearby, I am desperate for a pink and beige pair of children's UGG boots, size 6 - for the twins. They are £13 but sold out everywhere. Can you let me know if you see any and buy them, I'll send you money through internet banking. Ta muchly. xxxx

theUrbanDryad · 16/11/2007 17:07

Wilkie!! there you are! mwah mwah! at your full night's sleep!

my new godson was born this morning weighing in at 6lbs10z! i've just spoken to our other friend who went in with her (i couldn't go in because of finding childcare for Z) and i think we'll go and visit tomorrow as she's still a bit out of it!! the older kids are 9 and 10 (nearly 11) and are so well behaved! i was dreading this week, but i think we'll be ok after all!

we bought Z's first pair of shoes today - got them from Clarke's and they are sooooo cute! they took a little picture of him and gave him a certificate. i must put it in his baby book (if i can find it )

bunnyhunny · 16/11/2007 18:10

wilkie - I wondered where you were. Thought you might have the lurgy too. Was that your first time away from J for that long? Did you call home much?

congrats to your bf ud! a lovely newborn to coo over!!

vino - any news on the job?
lal - any news on the tickets?
2happy - hope you get your voice back soon!

S ate his tea too today - pasta and veg sauce, followed by some peach and raisins! I think it helps when I eat with him...

W - how long did it take from holding onto the side, letting go and walking somewhere to full on walking? S is properly walking too. In the past week or so he has gone from toddling about 10 steps to letting go, turning round and walking the whole room! And he is still officially 9 months old

Wilkie · 16/11/2007 19:12

UD - great news about your godson!!

Hunny - he has been cruising since 7 months so it has taken a while for him to walk indepenently. He's been taking steps for a good month but the last week he's been really confident.

eandh · 16/11/2007 20:47

UD Congrats

Wilkie - I missed you (hence my text!)

Have absolutley diddly squat to say life is boring - got next week off work as my mum on holiday and mil got hospital appts with dh nan so have had to take time off.

All christmas presents are now wrapped and hidden and I am not going to buy anymore!

Anyone watching children in need?

Wilkie · 16/11/2007 20:53

No cos it made me cry. Am playing Scarbulous.

vinorouge · 16/11/2007 21:45

I had a near tear incident watching the start of children in need so switched it off. DH and I have been filling in our fixtures and fittings suvey for moving. Our buyer is coming for the 4th time on Sunday. WTF can she want to see/measure that she hasn't done on the previous 3 occasions?

No news on the job front - had a message to say it would be Monday at the earliest.

Had a busy day out of the house from 8.30-5.30 getting here there and everywhere on the bus and train. Spent an hour or so at a soft play place with Ellen and some of her friends (and their mums!). I nearly lost my handbag cos I'd left it in the baby change. I had a 'heart in my mouth' feeling as I dashed to retrieve it. Good job I had to pay to get in the soft play otherwise I wouldn't have realised I'd lost it.

Dentist at 9 in the morning. it must have seemed a good idea at the time I made the appt.

Rgee - poor pippa being injuured by the cat

wilkie - was your conference the one you organised - the christmas drive? Did it go well?

bunny - what kind of quiche was it? I am not great at pastry so I tend to avoid it or buy ready made.

Ellen is pooing for England at the moment which I am fed up of. She did her first code brown yesterday! She had had sweetcorn for lunch at nursery the day before so that was floating round in the water....PLEASANT!

UD - good luck entertaining the kids over the weekend!

Lizz - if tomorrow is your last day at primark hope it goes quickly.

E&H - if you want to carry on christmas shopping you can do mine for me?!

vinorouge · 16/11/2007 21:47

e&h - your pics on facebook are soooo cute of e&h in the christmas outfits!

MrsCarrot · 16/11/2007 21:54

EAH please tell me that's not true. You haven't wrapped and labelled everything have you? I wrapped one the other day and thought of you.

bunnyhunny · 16/11/2007 22:33

Mrs C - I'm with you. I have bought my secret santa present, but that's it. Not wrapped or anything. In fact, I don't actually know where I put it...

I HATE christmas shopping. It always seems like I am buying them stuff they don't want / need or that they could get themselves. I really like it when people give me something specific to buy them. And even more than that I HATE it when people ask me what I want. I don't know? A holiday?! I'm a bit of a scrooge really, which makes it really interesting working in a first school surrounded by the horrible christmas tat! Don't get me wrong (can you tell I've been drinking?) I do like christmas, I just hate the tat that goes with it

wilkie - sorry to pursue this (!), but is J now walking properly? like around the house and stuff? S started cruising at 7 mo too, and crawled and walked with support too within the week. he can walk unaided for about 1 minute, so I;m wondering when he will just take off and choose walking over crawling..

vino - the pastry was surprisingly easy. 120g flour, rub in 60g marge (dairy free of course) til it looks like breadcrumbs. then add 2 tbsp water to bind it together. I was amazed that it was actually edible, as it was really easy to make.

Wilkie · 17/11/2007 07:52

Fckssake. Am feeling poorly again. Really flu-y, everything aches, feels like I have golf balls in my throat when I swallow, feel hot and cold and very down. I have never* beeen as ill as I have since having J. Is this normal????????

Also, J doesn't speak at all. He says Dada, Fsssss for fish and 'at' for cat but other than that he has NEVER said Mama or ta (considering we constantly say ta when we give him stuff). Where are all the other babies at with talking? Just want to know if it is normal - I just thought he would be 'saying' a bit more by now - even if it is just a sound.

Hunny - J will walk around for about a minute too. He still chooses crawling over walking if he wants to get somewhere quickly but is constantly standing and letting go to walk. He hasn't mastered standing up unaided, he has to have somethine to balance him as he stands IYKWIM. I reckon he will choose walking over crawling by Christmas. TBH, I am letting him go at his own pace, DH and I walk holding his hand when we are in shops and stuff but at home he does his own thing. HTH!

God I feel like crap - I could just sit here and sob.

bunnyhunny · 17/11/2007 08:22

((((wilkie)))) take some lemsip. can you get dh to look after J today? you sound exactly like I felt - it only lasted about 48 hours though.
And S is the same stage with talking. says dada, dog (dug) and ca (we think its car), but thats about it.

I STILL have the dodgy belly and cramps. hmmm. might go to a doctor, as I think the bug should have passed by now - it's been on and off for about a week...

I got worried about posting pissed last night, but my postings were rather inoffensive. Guess I have calmed down since having S.

Sorry if I made my secret santa person paranoid with my anti-christmas rant. I have had such bad experiences with mil christmas that I genuinely think we should secret santa the whole family. Then hopefully she wouldnt get us, and buy us lovely aliens-smoking-spliffs statues! Or a nasty rug that we are all allergic too (it was nasty before, the allergies just gave us the excuse to get rid of it). She gets into so much debt at christmas, buying people awful presents. And her house is like a christmas shop - there are lights, tinsel, father christmasses with their bums out (?!) and other assorted tat everywhere.
This year we aren't going!!!

MrsCarrot · 17/11/2007 08:52

I think it's fairly normal, Wilkie. Babies usually know a handful of words by a year, dada and a couple of others, could be cat, could be cup or whatever. Usually only distinguishable by proud parents. And they notoriously say dad before mum, the sounds is easier for them to make. F says hello, dad and cat. Well, da, ca, and eh oh! Hope you feel better soon.

Bunnyhunny - I know what you mean. I have had many dreadful Christmases at IL, very austere. M mum is the one with the tat and drunk by lunchtime. We stay at home now and do it our own way. Much nicer.

vinossecretsanta · 17/11/2007 09:00

Right a nice present was sent to vinorouge recorded delivery have you received it ?

Wilkie · 17/11/2007 11:13

I LOVE christmas. Am a big kid. We always go to mum and dad's - last year there was about 15 of us and it was fantastic. This year there will be me, DH, J, mum & dad, Grandma, Sis, BIL, DTs, Mum and Dad. Should be hectic but fun.

Been out to next and got some fresh air. Feel a bit more human now!

laughalot · 17/11/2007 14:07

been robbed with the take that tickets I cant believe people like this are allowed to trade I am so dissapointed. £ 400 it cost for four tickets luckily it was on credit card so goldfish are going to refund. I could cry im so upset.

Wilkie · 17/11/2007 14:10

LAL - I don't understand. Where did you buy them from?

Wilkie · 17/11/2007 14:24

BTW, if any of you are bored, click on this link and follow the instruction - it abslutely PMSL here

laughalot · 17/11/2007 14:25

It was my mums friend who booked them and she went onto ticketmaster whos tickets had sold so it redirected her to another firm which is associated with ticketmaster called london ticket shop ! Well google london ticket shop and just read the reviews no one has hardly ever received there tickets. Eah came up with a idea to ring the birmingham nec to check as we had received seat numbers and row but when we rung them the seats werent even in our name so even they said we had been done over. I am so peed off

Wilkie · 17/11/2007 14:27

Gutted

theUrbanDryad · 17/11/2007 17:30

aww LaL that's rubbish

went to see my new godson this afternoon with the kids! he is sooooo teeny tiny and extremely cute. i held him and sniffed his head for a good 5 minutes! god i'm broody now!

vinorouge · 17/11/2007 18:56

Vinossecretsanta - I have something to collect from post office ans was racking my brains to think what it could be! My post doesn;t come til about 2pm anyway but it was attempted delivery when I was at work on weds and I can't get to the post office easily on the bus, we didn;t get time today so I have ordered it to be delivered to the post office up the road, will be there tues or weds so will confirm receipt then. I am now feeling terribly disorganised!

Think I have got this bug now too. Felt awful during the night when Lo woke up at midnight (huge wee) and 5am (huge wee and bottle) bless dh he sorted her both times inc getting in bed in spare room with her to get her to sleep. Clean bill of health for both dh&i at dentist then I have been sick twice and generally felt rubbish today. Eaten a bit of dh chinese this evening and might be feeling less queasy now. BTW dentist said only reason to clean lo teeth now is to establish a routine. As a bad mummy I have only been cleaning them once a week.

Wilkie - ellen says mamamama and dadadada, der der der when she is excited and thats about it.

I LOVE STRICTLY COME DANCING! Just told dh I think Gethin is so handsome
