DH - i have glass lenses, and what happened was that he grabbed them, i grabbed them back and he held on! they were old and knackered anyway, and i'm sure i can get something for less that £400! that's just what they're insured for!

Z had his 8 month check (at 10 months, wtf??) and he's all fine. when i took him for a weigh in last week, he'd lost a teeny bit of weight, and the hv made me feel really bad about it. anyway, when he got weighed today it turns out that if last weeks measurement was right, he's put on a lb and a half in a week. so it was wrong. stupid hv's. anyway, "my" hv thinks he's very bright and is bang on average for weight, height and head circumference, so i'm happy with that.

my right nipple is now out of action after Z bit it so hard it bled so i'm now pumping pink milk our of that side while it heals up. i need to stop him biting!!

Lizzzombie · 14/11/2007 17:20

In my area, its not known as an "8 month check" anymore. Its anywhere between 8-12 months. Ours is booked for mid December. When he is 11 months.

LO finally waved properly today! A momentous occassion!

RGee · 14/11/2007 18:43

Hi all.

Vino - hurrah on the house!! I hope the one you're putting an offer on is just as easy to get to

Eah - hope you had a lovely day.

UD was wondering about lo's 8 month check up. I still haven't heard, but when I last saw the hv (end of July) she said they sent out an appointment automatically. Interesting to hear it's 10 months + everywwhere!

Lizz

How you doing Lal?

I have to say, Pip is the cutest thing in the world, she is just soooo cuddle-able at the moment.

I've got as day off tomorrow I've got a day off tomorrow tralalalalaaaaaaaaa. DH at work, lo at nursery, oh what to do....

eandh · 14/11/2007 18:46

RGee · 14/11/2007 18:57

Hmmm...thanks for the offer Eah...

eandh · 14/11/2007 19:39

Lizzzombie · 15/11/2007 08:22

I WANT CAKES!!!!!!!!!!!

eandh · 15/11/2007 08:32

But do you want to be organising the Christmas bazaar and spending every evening between now and the 14th december making stuff to sell??

laughalot · 15/11/2007 08:41

Morning all, well I have still got shingles doc said they can be around for a while I was panacking as Aidan woke up yesterday with about 4 spots on his face so I assumed he was getting chickenpox so kept him off school woke up this morning and they have gone . Dh is going away for the weekend with a few friends and my dad to cheltenham races my mum is coming to spend the weekend I am supposed to be seeing take that on saturday night at birmingham but the friggin tickets havent come from ticketmaster . Hope everyone is ok x

bunnyhunny · 15/11/2007 10:02

lal - so sorry to hear you have shingles do you still get the spots? hope your take that tickets come - will you still go if you are ill?

lizz - you are a bad influence - cakes AND beer! and well done on getting food into your lo mine is still thinner!

can't remember who was talking about stomach crunches and sit ups, but I REALLY need to do something - my belly pokes over the top of all my trousers, and my tops ride up cos my belly is too big for them. even though I am in the next size up... I used to do so much keep fit, but just don't have the time anymore. and the local ww is at 6pm, which is before dh gets home. looks like I'm destined to be porky

laughalot · 15/11/2007 10:09

Bunny I have a few spots about the size of a fifty pence piece I feel fine in myself but the pain around my boobies hurts alot trust me to get it there it was a bit embarrasing revelling my d size boobies to the doc . I will go and see take that even if I have to go on a strecher.

canmummy · 15/11/2007 11:03

Lal - I'm going to see them too in Manchester on 15th Dec - you must tell me how fab they were!!!!

RGee · 15/11/2007 11:12

Mooorrrrrrrninggggg

Was too excited to have a line in, so got lo up at 7am and packed her off to nursery with DH. Since then I have been tidying the house, but in a really theraputic sense and with music blaring (currently Abba's greatest hits but have had a bit of a 90s cheesy rivaval so being singing along to Chesney Hawkes ), so it's been really nice. It seems wierd saying housework is nice, but there has been so much crap lying about the house for so long, it's refreshing getting rid. Two bin liners of rubbish, plus two for the charity shop. Have sorted out and neatly put away (well, it's in a neat pile in the corner of our loft room) all stuff from lo's early days (bath, bottles, toys etc). Load no 3 in the washing machine, and downstairs hoovered. Time for a rest!
Am going to cook a chicken roast and an apple crumble for tea nom nom!

Lizzzombie · 15/11/2007 13:57

Rgee - "...you are the one and only, nobody I'd rather be..." etc etc. sounds like you are having a great day!

Lal - thats the spirit, even if you are on your death bed you should still go and see TT! chin up!

Bunny - I just got LO to eat most of a piece of eggy bread! I think he quite likes feeding himself, but isnt that into swallowing so I have to totally watch how much he is shovelling in!

Well, he had his 1st mini session at the nursery on his own. 40 mins and didnt bat an eyelid that I wasnt there, and when I came to pick him up I was chatting to the nursery worker for about 5 mins and he still didnt come and see me. My baby doesnt love me! boo hoo boo hoo!

Eah - package is in the post to you! Hope the swatches go with your interior decoration scheme! Good luck with all those xmas bazaar bits!

RGee · 15/11/2007 18:26

Hello again

Had a nice afternoon too. Pottered down the local shops, including the food Marks & Spencer mmmmm.....Bizarely I felt like I had left something in the shop, then realised it was cos I didn't have the lo with me
Made the crumble and a bit of food for lo; discovered an old cassette with a recording from when I had my request played on Annie Nightingale's show (all you oldies on here, you know what I'm talking about); then family RGee came home.

LO now tucked up in bed (I put some big sticker things on her nursery wall today, and she got really excited when she saw the tall giraffe), and must remember to turn the over on in 10 mins to put the roast on.

Lizz really glad nursery went well. He was obviosuly far too busy charming the ladies to go and greet his mum and cramp his style

Lal hope you've been ok today

And after the recent talk of 8 month check ups (which HV told me lo would need and we've heard no sign of it), we got a letter today which started "Now that your child has reached her first birthday....". Well that was news to me...

vinorouge · 15/11/2007 18:40

Rgee - how funny about the letter you got. We have an 8-12 month check and ours is in the week or so when she will be 10 months. They only do them on weds afternoons and have about 6 appts a week so a bit crap really.

Had a power cut from 10am-2.30 so was fed up cos couldn;t wash up, hoover the jobs I had planned to do. Also wanted to play the sing along xmas cd I've bought but thwarted by the stupid power. Glad I have a gas hob so we could both have something warm for lunch.

Relieved that we got the house we wanted today so all systems go now. (It is easy to get to Rgee - on the new estate at the top of the road where I live now). I am excited as it is a 4 bed house so will feel palatial after our 2 bed terrace.

LAL hope you get better soon. I've had shingles before, not nice is it.

EAH hope you enjoy sewing with Lizz's titbits.

Lizz - surely you have some cake somewhere??

RGee · 15/11/2007 19:25

Ohhh Vino, lovely houses!! can't wait to see it!!

vinorouge · 15/11/2007 19:32

I'm bored and cold, can't seem to warm up today which makes me think I'm still tired. DH out at footy and LO asleep so think I might go and get into bed to watch crap tv.

Am waiting for a call to find out whether or not I got the job I applied for ages go, its only a secondment but would be more money. Had an interview on Tues and it seemed to go ok but not heard anything yet. Hope I hear tomorrow otherwise I will be on tenterhooks all weekend!

Today at the shop over the road from my house 2 of the staff from Ellens nursery were buying bread. She was so excited to see them and had her arms in the air (her signal to say pick me up now!), when they waved and walked away she cried. I felt not quite good enough!

Shimmer · 15/11/2007 22:47

Awww don't feel bad Vino, at least you know she's happy at her nursery. Congratulations about the house! Fingers crossed about the job.

I have no idea whether F should be having a check-up around now. I haven't heard anything... Is it bad that I haven't taken him to the health centre or had him weighed or measured for about umm... 6 months now??? He looks okay to me......

Bought my secret santa present today! My first christmas present!!!!

Get well soon Lal

Right I'm off to bed. This working malarky is haaaaard work (when combined with looking after LO in between). I don't think i've had even 3 seconds to myself when i haven't been sleeping or on the toilet for weeks now. Grrrrrrrrrrr...............

2Happy · 16/11/2007 08:48

Oh FFS, now I've lost my bloody voice! (Doesn't stop me typing tho )

theUrbanDryad · 16/11/2007 09:43

well i've miraculously become a mother of 3 overnight! have got my godchildren staying for a week while their mum (my bf) goes in to have their baby brother by cs. she was booked in for 8, am on tenterhooks waiting to hear that everything went ok!

it was extremely odd doing a school run this morning, but they were good as gold, and got themselves up and dressed with no fuss! i'm sure i'll be a gibbering wreck this time next week though!

RGee · 16/11/2007 10:54

UD fingers crossed for your bf. I don't think I could cope with 3 - I'm still struggling with 1!

2H -" "

Shimmer - work really gets in the way of MN I find!

Vino - any news?

Well, this morning's entertainment was the cat finally got the lo with a neat swipe about the head. I saw it coming but wasn't fast enough [bad mother emoticon part 367]. LO has a little puncture mark where the claw got her. Can't blame the cat really - there's only so much prodding and poking you can take I guess. Poor Pip is too young to understand me taking her hand and showing how to stroke 'gently'. Anyway, she doesn't seem scarred on either front, as when I took her up for her morning nap, she was trying to reach out to the cats. Better brace myself for puncture mark 2 in the near future. Am a bit frightened she'll get it in the eye though.

Had a great roast last night (if I do say so myself). Off out tonight and staying out overnight (it'll mean a lie in!), so can't wait.

bunnyhunny · 16/11/2007 11:46

hello all. stay away from me, as I have the lurgy. I came back from work on wednesday with sickness and stomach cramps, and then on thursday developed flu like symptoms. when the lemsip kicks in, I am ok!

ud - 3?! well done you! so how is it with older kids? can you just say ' get your shoes on' and 'get in the car' and they do it?

vino - it goes to show dd is settled nicely into nursery. s is like that with nanny and her bf, which makes me then I rememebr it would be so much worse if he cried when he saw them!

RGEE - I know how you feel about your cats. my dog growled at S the other day (he is very placid, and will always growl, then bugger off if he is annoyed. i've never seen him get even remotely aggressive)- like you said there is only so much the animal will take. But at least it was only a minor scratch. I think your cats will just learn to get out of the way - they tend to have a low threshold for this type of thing don't they.

gotta go - my homemade quiche is ready. What are the chances S will chuck his part on the floor?

bunnyhunny · 16/11/2007 12:13

just a quick message to tell you all...

S is eating the quiche!!! it is in his hair, up his sleeves etc, but HE IS EATING IT!!!
