Hi everyone! I made a new thread as we were at the end of the last one. A new thread for the new year! I changed the title as we don’t have newborns anymore!

It's so hard @Zoey92 I worry terribly about the heat! Thankfully her fever from last week has now gone so at least that's something. I have read so many things to try but nothing seems to work in that room it's just an oven. Days like this make me want winter back 😅

mrssunshinexxx · 18/07/2021 20:14

@Busylizzie85 same here showing 29/30/31 !!! She has fan on all night moving around she's just in a nappy with her bedroom door wide open for air regulation I must of checked on her 15 times last night and the night before she was perfectly fine and nice and cool to touch.

Busylizzie85 · 18/07/2021 20:18

Thanks @mrssunshinexxx I'll open her door more, it's so hard as its a small house having the door open let's in more noise so can't win 🤦🏻‍♀️

Smiffette · 18/07/2021 20:29

@Busylizzie85 I've been super worried too! It's been saying 30/31 she's just in a nappy we have a fan? But only 1 which is in our room, going to have to get another though as it's so hot!!! She's ok, not constantly waking but when she does (2-3 times a night) she's sweaty on the side of her head that's on the mattress

mrssunshinexxx · 19/07/2021 07:27

I' know usually we have hers shut but she has fan on and her white noise machine all night so it drowns out any noise @Busylizzie85

Gigitree · 20/07/2021 16:27

Ergh this weather is soooo sticky and horrible! We invested in a small air con unit a few years ago and at times like this I wish we had one for every room 😂😂 we’ve been wheeling it into Grace’s room and cooling her room down between last nap & bedtime & then wheeling it back into our room when she goes to sleep and we have a fab and an air cooler in her room loaded with ice to keep it comfortable over night!

Roll on autumn 🍂 I hate the summer lol

Busylizzie85 · 22/07/2021 15:14

Finally got Ivy's jabs done today being stabbed 4 times in one go is a lot bless them so glad that's it for a couple of years!!

It's still to hot 🥵 ivy has mostly slept like a champ though so I shouldn't complain to much even though I spend most of the night checking her 😂

mrssunshinexxx · 23/07/2021 07:54

@Busylizzie85 snap it was hideous we both cried a lot ! She was so so upset last night before bed never seen her like it but she slept through so that's good x

Busylizzie85 · 23/07/2021 08:06

@mrssunshinexxx hope she's happier today! Ivy did not sleep that well but not sure if that was because it was a little cooler and she was still just in a nappy. She's happy as Larry today though so that's good.

MrsMarrio · 24/07/2021 17:03

The bedrooms have been boiling here too, and the heat has halved his day time nap time so he’s a right little grump.

Is anyone else’s little one not saying words yet? Rowan understands things I say to him but isn’t saying anything back. He will babble away all day and make sounds like ‘mama’ and ‘dada’ but he’s not associating those sounds actually mean something.

Busylizzie85 · 24/07/2021 18:46

@MrsMarrio Ivy is not saying any proper words yet either, she is always babbling and she understands words like no and food etc but she never says them back.

MrsMarrio · 24/07/2021 18:54

@Busylizzie85 yeah he will shake his head for no and make a certain noise for yeah to when I ask questions which shows me he is understanding bits but no actual words from him

Smiffette · 25/07/2021 09:27

My DD isn't saying any words yet other than Mama and Dada.... like OPs she understands a lot of what I say and nods / shakes head and is always babbling, which is so cute 🥰

mrssunshinexxx · 25/07/2021 10:12

We have a few words here but not many , mama , dada, pop, snack, ta she understands things like 'stick your tongue out, where's your hair etc , pass me your blanket '

Smiffette · 25/07/2021 20:59

After some advice....

I really would like to stop breastfeeding, DD is 13 months now, I'm back at work, she's up 4 times a night feeding and with teeth she's starting to nip more and more.

Trouble is, I just don't know how to stop feeding her, Ive tried and she just screams the house down until I give in.

I've also notice this last couple weeks she's been eating less in the day and wanting me for feeds more. I do think the heat and teething has played a part in this as well as a couple of colds. She's settled and happy in nursery now so I feel like I can stop BF her

Has anyone had any successes?

Picklesbaby · 26/07/2021 07:50

@Smiffette I have cut down couple of day feeds out by offering cold milk in a cup . Not managed to stop any night feeds so I’m following 😂

mrssunshinexxx · 26/07/2021 11:59

@Smiffette not sure if I can help but I am feeding twice in 24 hours once before PM nap and once before bed she doesn't wake through the night and if she does rarely I don't offer milk just a cuddle.
Last night and about a fortnight ago she bit me so hard I screamed and cried it fucking killed it's making me really nervous to carry on. She will take a beaker of cows milk but doesn't cuddle in and get sleepy in the same way as on the breast. I would start by giving cows milk in a beaker before a day time nap ? X

Smiffette · 26/07/2021 12:04

Thanks ladies, she did finally start taking a bottle a month or so ago so I do offer cows milk warmed before bed but she still wants me for comfort after. she will only ever be satisfied with just bottle of its in the day time. My husband/mum and nursery will all get her to sleep with bottle, cuddles/pram rocking.

mrssunshinexxx · 26/07/2021 13:04

@Smiffette my HV said at this age if going from
Boob to cows milk to not bother with bottles and go straight for beaker/ sippy cup/ 360 cup as better for their teeth just an idea she might prefer that too. Hope you find something that works take my hat off to you still feeding through the night x

Smiffette · 26/07/2021 13:34

Ah that's interesting as I read exclusively breastfed babies (I know she's now on solids) should have bottle until they are two.

She's not really receptive to milk in the sippy cup, but will take water no problem.

mrssunshinexxx · 26/07/2021 13:47

@Smiffette yes NHS websites encourages the removal of bottles by the age of 1 x

mrssunshinexxx · 26/07/2021 13:48

@Smiffette sorry if I've misunderstood you, yes they do still need milk I think it's 12 Oz a day of cows milk or whatever you want to use and in foods of course xx

Smiffette · 26/07/2021 19:31

That's useful to know about how many ozs they should have, I hadn't actually looked into that!

Gigitree · 28/07/2021 08:44

Grace isn’t saying any actual words yet either, she says mama, dada, baba etc and has been trying to say duck but just makes the cccckk sound. Bless her she’s trying so hard and she just chatter away all day it’s just seems like that fuse in her brain hasn’t made the connection yet for actual words.
She understands a lot of what we are says and hates being told no 😂😂 oh the terrible 2’s are going to be fun!

Gigitree · 28/07/2021 08:45

I meant to say she says mama dada etc but not to me or her dad so she hasn’t made the connection yet between the sound and the actual meaning of the words yet.
