Hi everyone! I made a new thread as we were at the end of the last one. A new thread for the new year! I changed the title as we don’t have newborns anymore!

@Picklesbaby at leat they are out of the way!!
I never planned on feeding this long! But I do love the bonding time. She's still waking in the night and fed to sleep so I will keep feeding those times until she stops. It has reduced and now I'm back at work and she's at nursery I don't think it will be long before she stops.
I went back to work this week and LO had her first proper afternoon at Nursery! She really loves it, my mum took her as she had her in the morning and she said she got in a little strop when she got her out the car and put her down to walk, she she picked her up and when she saw where she was going she got all excited pointing and started babbling! I'm so relieved she loves it there!

Gigitree · 01/07/2021 22:10

Oh @Picklesbaby it’s brutal isn’t it? They’re so much more aware at this age too! Grace cried so much it was horrible 💔😭

Picklesbaby · 02/07/2021 07:29

@mrssunshinexxx ohhh we had croup just before we went away had to do a Covid test it was horrid. Hope lo is doing okay . Tbh He doesn’t seem to be too ill though had no temp or anything as of yet.

@Smiffette aw I’m glad re nursery I bet it’s a weight off your mind🌸 we were up 13 times last night Dh has offered to help try to night wean this weekend (not feed between 11-5) so we will see how we get on. If it’s a disaster I will resign myself to being shattered for another year until we move after Christmas and he moves into his own room. 😅

@Gigitree definitely more upset he was so clinging for the rest of the evening the look he gave me was like how could you do this to me !

Gigitree · 02/07/2021 09:05

@Picklesbaby Grace was the same, you could tell she felt utterly betrayed 😩💔
Still I kept telling her and myself that it’s better than her getting really really poorly.

Grace has coped remarkably well so far too, although the nurse did say the MMR one has a bit of a delayed reaction, so she might get side effects from those in a week or so.

Busylizzie85 · 02/07/2021 09:33

I started night weening last night and seemed to go ok, I had cut it down to once a night anyway but she seemed to accept I wasn't going to do it. I hope I can continue 🤞🏼

UKtoSK · 06/07/2021 01:55

@Gigitree we went down to one nap a week or two ago and she is sleeping longer for both the nap and at night and it has been wonderful! She does go to nursery in the morning 8:30-11:30 and then I bring her home and nurse and she’s asleep by 11:50 most days and wakes between 1:15 and 1:30 so I have a lot of free time. I still shower in the morning around 7:30 before my husband goes out though. Need to keep all that glorious free time for things like coffee and cleaning and TV 😂

@Picklesbaby we are still breastfeeding and I’m not planning to stop until she wants to. I know it can be so hard at night but I still love it so much and she’s probably going to be my only baby so I can’t let go of it. I also can’t face trying to get her to sleep without nursing. She’d scream the place down! Jia’s sleep suddenly improved a lot last week out of nowhere so I am hoping it’s not just a phase. Even with a tooth coming through she has been doing 5-9 hour stretches and waking just 1-2 times most nights. Oh gosh I just read you were up 13 times in one night! You poor thing. We did have a phase a few weeks ago of the worst sleep ever so maybe yours is going through the same thing?

Jia is using her toddle truck to practice walking, she doesn’t have the confidence yet to try taking steps by herself, but yesterday and today she did just hold on with one hand and walk so hoping it’ll be soon!

We had her birthday party on Sunday and she had such a good time. It was so lovely to see her enjoying her presents and all the attention. Balloons were the biggest hit! She wakes up every day since so excited to get out to the living room and play with them again!!

Really nervous about Jia’s jabs on Wednesday after hearing all your stories! She’s not been bad after any of them yet.

Any first words yet? Jia is definitely trying to communicate a lot but no recognisable words yet.

@UKtoSK that's so good that the sleep is improving and you are getting some much needed time to yourself I am so grateful for nellys nap everyday and hoping she continues with it for a while it will be so helpful when new baby arrives. She's desperate to walk o never see her crawl anymore she just bombs around with her Walker everywhere it's hilarious. She said dada, mama, snack, bubble, pop, yeah and hiya it's adorable

Gigitree · 08/07/2021 07:48

So happy for you @UKtoSK that sleep is improving!

What do your mornings look like everyone! Grace is waking at 6/6.30 and having her milk about 7am then breakfast at 8am then nap at about 9.30am until 10.30 - so we typically don’t go out anywhere until 10.30am
So I feel like we have a long time from like 7-9.30 to fill and while she’s happy enough toddling around the house and playing with her toys. I feel guilty like I should be doing more with her.
What does everyone’s mornings look like (on your days off for those that are working).

mrssunshinexxx · 08/07/2021 09:16

@Gigitree honestly don't know what I would do if I was back to work I woke her at 8.20 this morning!

Picklesbaby · 08/07/2021 14:27

@Gigitree on my days off work Jj wKes 6/6.30 also we have breakfast 7am then it’s around 9 when we get back from taking Dd. on the days dh takes her we just potter though he follows me round while I put washing on and chases the vacuum. I’ve tried doing activities with him but he just gets over stimulated and grumpy.much better at interacting in the afternoon 😂

We have the worse week ever 10+ wake ups every night . hes had a temp and the runs. Normally comes 7-10days after injections so hopefully it will wear off soon. &DD is at home isolating it’s giving me flash backs to lockdown😩.

He is finally (&constantly!) standing holding furniture & took 2 steps with his walker so proud.

Gigitree · 10/07/2021 09:34

Blimey that’s impressive @mrssunshinexxx she loves her sleep!

@Picklesbaby sounds similar to our mornings then (bar the school drop off) yeah Grace is not really that interested in doing activities together in the mornings.

Oh sorry to hear about the wake ups, you must be so exhausted!

Grace had a temp about 10 days after her jab and has broken out in a rash/spots, but from what I’ve read this can happen as a side effect of the MMR jab

Smiffette · 10/07/2021 09:50

Since, jabs, cold, too teeth coming through it feels like sleep has definitely taken several steps back! Right at the worst time with me going back to work.

She still wakes 3-4 times a night, but this is an improvement on the 6-8 times 🙈

So mornings are tricky on the Tuesday and Thursday when I need to get her (and me!) up dressed and out the door by 06:30! So far I've had to reluctantly wake her at 6:20 when I know she would probably sleep until 07:30 if I didn't! This then had a knock on effect as she end up having a really long morning nap and still had her afternoon 30-40 minute nap... which then all takes away from night sleep 😩

She's still BF lots too overnight and wants it first thing in the mornings which is hard as I need to jump out of bed and get ready for work and we don't currently have a kitchen so it's not easy to just make her a warm bottle for DH to give her.

Kitchen should be done by the end of the month and I think I'm just going to have to be strong and stop BFs altogether in the day and only give a small feed for night wakes until that stops. she's just getting a bit more bitey now with the top tooth and so I'm starting to not enjoy it. 😏 she's 13 months on Tuesday and I honestly though I would have stopped around 9/10 months

mrssunshinexxx · 10/07/2021 12:39

@Gigitree I know bless her hoping it continues when new baby comes x

Busylizzie85 · 14/07/2021 05:45

A word of warning to any one whose not experienced upper molar teething/canine it's horrid, poor ivy has a dribble rash all over her chin/mouth and chest as it's poring out, her sleep was terrible at the weekend and she's barely eating because of the pain 😔 she's even got an ulcer which adds to the pain 😭

mrssunshinexxx · 14/07/2021 08:21

Poor little thing @Busylizzie85 dreading molars I feel like the first 8 teeth haven't phased her so these are bound to be bad 😞

Busylizzie85 · 14/07/2021 08:49

@mrssunshinexxx I think it's more the fact it's top of the mouth apparently it has more of an affect as it's nearer the nose/ears etc I have had to keep her of nursery as need to give her pain relief regularly.

mrssunshinexxx · 14/07/2021 20:07

So strange @Busylizzie85 , lo was laid on my knee earlier and I had a poke around in her mouth and she has a top molar coming through at one side it looks so sore and she has an awful runny nose :(

Picklesbaby · 15/07/2021 08:17

Another one on antibiotics .Jamie has a chest infection we are stuck in while we wait for his Covid results. We managed to avoid another hospital visit though !

@Busylizzie85 hope little one is better soon , La roche-posay soothing balm has worked wonders for jjs dermatitis on his chin x

Busylizzie85 · 18/07/2021 18:51

Any one got any tips of how to cool down a babies room? We live in a terraced house which annoyingly has the sun setting behind it so Ivys room heats up like an oven by bed time. It's currently 29 degrees in there which is the hottest it's been. I always have all the curtains closed up there and normally the windows open (although I have read that it may be better to keep them closed) I have a fan in there not facing her but moving the air around and tonight I have a bowl of Ice in front but it's not helping.
She's only in a nappy but I'm worried it's way way to warm in there and I can't move her anywhere else 😔

Zoey92 · 18/07/2021 19:51

@busylizzie85
We had this issue last night. I kept window open till i went to bed and closed it, curtains and blinds closed and left her door open.
Amelia slept in just her nappy last night, her room was about 28 all night i kept checking on her ( i couldnt settle) & she was more than ok and very content.
