Hi everyone! I made a new thread as we were at the end of the last one. A new thread for the new year! I changed the title as we don’t have newborns anymore!

@mrssunshinexxx yes I will be picking her up luckily 😊
They do say we worry more than the children! I'm sure she will love it and get used to the new routine quickly

Rowan has just started nursery, it was my mum who was looking after him but unfortunately she’s had to have quite a big emergency op which is a good few months recovery time. Rowan just screams instantly when I do the handover at the nursery door. It’s awful.
What do all your little ones have for breakfast? Rowans not particularly fussed on anything for breakfast, I’ve tried porridge, yogurt, toast with different toppings and fruit.

Picklesbaby · 09/06/2021 16:35

For those just starting nursery , it took Jamie 2 weeks to stop crying when I dropped him . They send the same lady to the door now at drop offs and he goes in fine, they upload pictures throughout the day it’s great.

@MrsMarrio my lo won’t be fed with a spoon and gets bored of toast . we do cornflakes/branflakes now , I just leave them to go soft and he eats them with his fingers -loves them

We’re currently away on holiday,jj went in the swimming pool for the first time on his 1st birthday! . I’m so enjoying doing the things we have missed out on the past year

Smiffette · 09/06/2021 21:26

That sounds good having the same person to the door, familiarity helps.

Tallulah had porridge or toast.....

mrssunshinexxx · 09/06/2021 22:05

@MrsMarrio overnight oats with blackberries / raspberries, french toast, readibrek mixed with weetabix, omelette muffins

Just catching up for the first time in over a month. It has been a busy couple of months with nursery and sickness! Sorry I can’t reply to anyone directly as there’s too much to catch up on.

Jia is loving nursery, she’s only there for about 2 hours in the morning and then I bring her home to nap, but once she turns one in two weeks I’m going to have her stay for lunch and just have one nap a day. I was able to spend almost two weeks getting her used to it with me there which is I think why we’ve had no tears, but she is a very social baby.

Love hearing that some babies are walking now! Jia is trying hard to stand without holding onto something. She can pull up and let go and stay standing but can’t quite stand up on her own yet. I’m really excited for her to start walking though. We have a full 12 month check on the 30th.

She has 6 full teeth now and judging by the awful sleep recently more are on the way… at least I hope that’s the reason. She had been ok with my husband settling her at some points in the night but recently she screams and screams until I go and put her on the boob so we are back to feeding a thousand times a night.

She was eating really well for a while, especially porridge at breakfast time, now she won’t touch it or much else. She will eat Cheerios though 😂 hoping it’s just a phase and she’ll start eating well again soon. Still loves her meat thankfully, and anything salty which isn’t ideal.

Her birthday is July 5th so we are having a little party at home on the 4th with just my husbands family. Still haven’t been able to meet my parents, hoping they can finally visit in the autumn. But there’s a Korean tradition for the 1st birthday where baby chooses from some objects on a table and it predicts their future (I.e. pencil = intelligent, string = long life) so we are renting everything to do that at home. I’ve spent way too much on some helium balloons as well.

@Picklesbaby how are the parenting classes? Have they helped with sleep? Sounds so patronising

Picklesbaby · 22/06/2021 14:19

@UKtoSK who knows! they never contacted me 😂
We have 2 full teeth through & another 4 almost through. Ouch on the boobie 😬 Sleep has levelled out tbh we still co sleep but are down to around 3/4 wake ups most nights 🤞🏼 We’re not standing or anything either but we are being assessed for his eye patch next month finally.
I hope you get to see your family soon🌸 we went to visit and introduce baby to some very close family friends abroad and it was amazing . Her birthday sounds like it it will lovely, enjoy !

@mrssunshinexxx. How’s your pregnancy going ? Hope all is well

Smiffette · 23/06/2021 10:36

@UKtoSK I've just dropped DD off for her 3rd and last settling session before she starts properly next week.
She's loving it and no tears at drop off or pick up. This is a massive relief to me as originally she wasn't due to start until October but things changed so it felt quite rushed.

We have a third tooth pop through a couple of days ago. I'm thinking another great won't be far behind as the gums are quite bumpy and can see the hint of a tooth behind!

I'm feeling much better about going back to work now though so that's good... I'm sure the reality will be quite busy to start with!

mrssunshinexxx · 23/06/2021 20:35

Hi @Picklesbaby thanks for asking pregnancy going well just very tired with insomnia but I may aswell get used to it and very grateful nelly sleeps so well. She has 8 teeth now eats everything and is almost there with the walking she is saying a few words and we have a different class everyday it's good to be busy and living a 'normal' life again. I miss my mum more than ever but I'm just trying to be the best mum I can and focus on her.
We had 20 week scan last week and all looked good which was a relief after nelly having one kidney on hers and we are having another baby girl!

Gigitree · 25/06/2021 09:09

So lovely to read everyone’s updates!
Grace had her 1st birthday at the weekend, the rain meant we had to have an indoor bbq (I.e burgers and sausages cooked in the oven) but by the time we’d eaten the sun had come out so we we able to sit in the garden and play with her new toys for a while which was lovely.

Can remember if I said in my last update, Grace has been walking since 10 months, we finally had our HV review 2 weeks ago and she is 50th percentile for height and 91st for weight but those are on track for where she was at when she was born. The HV was very impressed with her motor skills and said that now her social and communication skills will ramp up over the next few months which is so exciting!

She’s still on two naps a day but we had a shit show of naps the last two days and then they were back to normal yesterday, so I don’t know if that is down to teething or if it’s a sign that she’s going to start needing only one nap! I’m not sure I’m ready for that even if she is 😂😂
What does everyone do to keep them occupied while you get ready in the morning? I usually use her morning nap to her showered and dressed, but if that is going to get later/shorter and eventually disappear I’m going to have to rethink 😂
She wakes for the day at 6.30 most of the time so I guess the other option is that I get up at 6am and get ready then!

Despite having a late start on teeth she now has 5 with a 6th one on it’s way! 😱😱

She’s now got her second cold 😪 which is to be expected now things are opening up more and we’ve been going to soft play etc.

She is obsessed with Hey Duggee, sometimes I feel like a shit mum for letting her watch it and other times I just feel relieved that something with grab her attention long enough for me to start dinner etc

Hubby and I have been talking about if/when we might want to try for a sibling for Grace some days I think “ok it will be chaotic but we will adjust it will be fine” other days I think “oh hell no that sounds way too hard” 😂😂😂

Busylizzie85 · 25/06/2021 09:46

Good to hear updates 😊
@Gigitree my partner gets up at 5:30 so I started getting up and dressed around that sort of time as Ivy wakes up normally around 6:30, plus I'm back at work so kinda have to get up sadly now.

Ivy is not walking but she is cruising a lot and can stand for a few seconds without holding or leaning on anything so that's good. She's also still on two naps a day and needs them as mostly only sleeping for 30 mins each nap.
We've had constant colds since starting nursery which is to be expected but it's been a rough few weeks of no sleep.
Any little ones who get colds snuffle babe rub is fantastic I wish I found it earlier helps so much at night.

SRS1311 · 25/06/2021 09:51

Aww been lovely catching up!

@mrssunshinexxx glad everything is going okay, not long to go now!

@Gigitree at the minute I usually get ready by putting him in the bedroom with me and closing the door. He loves just exploring and playing with the cushions...enough to give me 10 mind to throw some clothes on!

We have 4 teeth coming through all at once which made him unhappy for a few days and lots of drooling!! He will have 6 teeth then, hoping for a break from teething after that lol

He's down to 2 bottles a day and doing a lot better with his eating, his favourite thing to eat is lasagne. He still has 2 naps of 1hr and a half which is bliss, but for a few months now he has woken up at 5.30 and that's a killer. He has been in nursery for about 6 weeks now and he loves it although he has had to get used to a different routine there as he only has one nap. He has taken a few tentative steps but still trying to gain his confidence. We have just spent the week in center parcs and it was brilliant, so nice creating memories.

I just can't believe he will be 1 soon and how time flies. Trying to enjoy/ hold onto every second.

Now the babies are a year old - will the formula feeding mummies be dropping the formula milk straight away? Will you also be stopping the sterilisation? I know they say it's fine to do both at a year old but seems strange!

mrssunshinexxx · 25/06/2021 09:53

Cannot get my head around my baby being 1 today! Where did that year go ?! So emotional

Busylizzie85 · 25/06/2021 10:31

@SRS1311 I did start to mix the normal milk with formula and the plan was to increase the normal milk over time but she took to the normal milk well at breakfast so I have just been giving her normal in the mornings In a cup which meant she ate more and she has started to get used to just drinking that now. I will continue to give her formula at night for awhile longer and then I'll probably start mixing that to slowly ween her off.

We have 10 teeth two of which are her bottom molars, I'm surprised she's not got anymore for a a few weeks but then I can't see well in her mouth any more but it's nice to have a break from teething 😅

Gigitree · 25/06/2021 18:01

@Busylizzie85 yes I think I may end up doing this too, I should really get myself into a bit more of a routine and get up earlier, but as hubby has been working from home now since March 2020 we’ve got into a bad habit of lounging about a lot until he starts work at 9am and Grace goes for her nap.

@SRS1311 that’s a good idea about trapping him in with you! 😂

Re: formula to cows milk, our HV actually suggested trying her with a bottle of cows milk just before she turned 1 to see how get she gets on with it and then if she didn’t like it we could then mix it with the formula and gradually increase the cows milk and reduce the formula over time.
We tried it with her afternoon post-nap bottle and she didn’t even seem to notice the difference so we just continued giving that ones as cows milk for a few days, then swapped the morning bottle and then eventually when our pot of formula ran out 2 days ago we switched her bedtime bottle too.
We continued sterilising until she was totally off formula and now her bottles just go in the dishwasher! Makes things so much easier!

mrssunshinexxx · 25/06/2021 18:44

It's definitely going much faster this time @SRS1311

Gigitree · 28/06/2021 20:13

How did everyone’s little one get on with the 12 month jabs? Grace has got hers tomorrow ☹️

Smiffette · 28/06/2021 20:35

@Gigitree the 12 month ones were the only ones to have bothered my LO.
Although she's teething and a cold came out a couple of days after having them, I
So it could be a mix of all of it.

I'm back to work tomorrow and the last 3 nights sleep have been brutal! Think I've totalled about 6 hours sleep on the 3 nights combined! 😩

Gigitree · 28/06/2021 21:39

@Smiffette oh no 😫 did she need calpol right after? Bless her heart that’s a lot to happen to her all at once
Oh gosh that is so brutal you poor thing 😩😩

Magpie21 · 28/06/2021 22:02

So lovely to read everyone's updates. I just remember how glued we were to this thread last year when the babies were arriving! It's my daughters 1st birthday tomorrow.

She walks and has 2 bottom teeth (only!!). Sleep is good once she is down...still perfecting the bedtime routine. We rock her until she is tired and out her down drowsy and wait until she is asleep before leaving the rooms. Also a lover of Duggie!

We are on our second cold in 3 weeks with a side of teething! Poor girl.

@mrssunshinexxx Another girl! Congratulations. That's wonderful. Hope you are feeling well and enjoying your pregnancy.

We have jabs in a couple of weeks and I'm dreading it!!

Going to give cows milk a whirl in a couple of days...What cup is everyone planing to use? Will you heat the milk up?

mrssunshinexxx · 28/06/2021 23:51

Thank you @Magpie21 can't complain just mega tired but better get used to it! Hope your lo has a lovely birthday. I'm also dreading Javan

Gigitree · 29/06/2021 07:41

Ahh happy birthday to your little one @Magpie21

We’ve just been using bottles for cows milk so far as I thought she would be more likely to accept it this way and we have been warming it up too so it’s similar to her formula that she was used to.

Busylizzie85 · 29/06/2021 19:58

Spoke to soon re teething she's now got 4 teeth coming at once at the top molars and her canines poor little thing 😞 more sleepless nights it is 😭
I haven't been able to book her 1 year jabs I keep phoning and they are full or I have to wait for the next lot to open up so at this rate she'll be 13/14 months but the time she'll get them.

Picklesbaby · 01/07/2021 06:28

We had our jabs yesterday can’t believe it’s 4 at once 😢

Have any of you ladies thought about stopping breastfeeding ?
We’re back to feeding allll night I just feel done with it but have no idea how I will cope getting him to sleep otherwise

mrssunshinexxx · 01/07/2021 08:14

Oh god @Picklesbaby was it horrific ? I'm dreading them! She's got croup at the moment too it's awful. I'm still BF but only twice a day and she sleeps through but I don't see her dropping it anytime soon so looks like I'll be tandem feeding
