Hi everyone! I made a new thread as we were at the end of the last one. A new thread for the new year! I changed the title as we don’t have newborns anymore!

@Busylizzie85 it’s so hard with a little one to make time, once DH has been to work, then he’ll use the gym in our garage, then after having dinner I’m too tired to work out myself! I used to going running at 11pm before the baby! I’d be dead if I done that now! I just think the saggy skin on my stomach will always be a little bit loose, I breastfed for the first 16 weeks too, it was just stretched far too much!

Busylizzie85 · 24/03/2021 08:46

@MrsMarrio my partners similar he goes running in the evenings but I'm far to shattered for that! I think I'll just have to invest in some very supportive underwear 😂

Magpie21 · 24/03/2021 15:56

@Busylizzie85 🙋‍♀️ I'm up a dress size at least. I don't know whether to blame the pregnancy or lockdown or both! Honestly for me it's probably both. I rely on the sweet treats to get me through the week! Ive done a few workouts here and there and plenty of walking but I think I just need to sort my diet out....all these Easter eggs aren't helping matters! 😅 I think naturally as lockdown restrictions are lifted and we don't have to spend all day in our own homes it will help! X

Smiffette · 24/03/2021 18:21

I'm so desperate to get back to regular exercise... I have done a hit here and there but my body feels so wobbly and not the toned one it was before!
I did loose all the baby weight by 4 months pp but my body is so different! I really want to get the muscle tone back before we try for number two, else I worry it will be doubly hard to get back in shape!

Busylizzie85 · 24/03/2021 18:56

@Magpie21 I have a terrible sweet tooth and it's usually the first thing I go to when I have had a rubbish day or Ivys been hard work etc! I blame lockdown for most things.

SRS1311 · 24/03/2021 19:59

@MrsMarrio yep mines a belly crawler, or think it's also known as commando crawl. I wondered the same, whether he will ever go on to all fours and crawl that way. But like you, I cant see it. Mainly because he gets everywhere so quick commando crawling I dont think he will bother to learn another way!

Found the last week or two so hard. Think lockdown has really caught up with me now, theres no break and it's hard having nothing to do and nowhere to go, it feels endless. Little one is at a difficult stage, he can pull himself up to standing but cant do anything from there..he cant climb further up and cant work out how to get back down, so he just cries. It's so exhausting when hes pulled himself up to the sofa for the 50th time by half 7 in the morning and I cant even drink a cup of tea lol hope this phase passes soon!

@Busylizzie85 have you thought of HIIT (high intensity training). I'm intending to do this and did it before pregnancy. It's basically 30 mins of high intensity exercises and it really seems to work. You can get plenty of videos on you tube to follow and can just do it in the living room so I find it easier to find the time / stick to

UKtoSK · 25/03/2021 00:12

@Busylizzie85 I gained about 14kg in pregnancy and lost most of it before Christmas but then gained a couple back over the winter and am now sitting at 4kg heavier than when I got pregnant. I don’t mind, I just want to fit into my old clothes! My best friend had her second baby in July and she said that with her first she didn’t lose the weight until AFTER she stopped breastfeeding because her body just clings to the fat to support the milk production. Are you still breastfeeding now?

@SRS1311 haha Jia pulls herself up to standing a thousand times a day too but she has worked out how to sit down. Started with quite a fast fall on her bum but I just clapped and said well done and she smiled and doesn’t mind the fall, and she’s finally working out how to lower herself down since yesterday. Looks like she’s doing squats lol. Hopefully your little one gets there soon. Now Jia has got so confident she’s pulling up on everything- including my legs while I’m washing up!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. She’s doing so much better now and so I’m much less stressed. Yesterday I took one of the sofa seat cushions off and put it on the floor to make a sort of sofa climbing frame and she had a great time climbing up and down all day. Can’t believe she started crawling a couple of weeks ago and now she can do that!

@UKtoSK I'm only breastfeeding at night as she refused to take a bottle if she wakes up so it's more of a comfort thing than anything.
I can't believe Jia has progressed that quickly, Ivy wants to stand up up does not really have the core strength I don't think yet to do it, she only what I call hun roles around abs does not crawl.

Smiffette · 25/03/2021 06:10

@UKtoSK that's a good idea about the sofa cushions! I might have to try that...will have to give the sofa a little vacuum first thought! Oh the crumbs 🙈

MrsMarrio · 25/03/2021 13:02

@Magpie21 I’m up a dress size in the bottom half, but I weigh the same 🤷🏼‍♀️ @Busylizzie85 I think I’ll be wearing sucky-in knickers for life.

@SRS1311 yes I think as he’s realised he can move about on his belly he’s not going to bother doing it any other way, but I mop all my floors before I go to bed ready for the next day, but his clothes are still disgusting from crawling around. My little one goes straight over to fireplace, ignores all his toys and I have to move him away a million times an hour. My husband was working from home the other day so let him deal with it and he was getting so frustrated 🤣

Magpie21 · 26/03/2021 19:15

@MrsMarrio I know what you mean! I'm getting a bit anxious about these warmer days and not being about to hide under my big puffer coat 😅

Last night my LO was randomly awake from 1ish until 4ish. Just wide awake. No apparent signs of teething....does this happen to anyone? I think it's happens every month for a couple of days. It's so peculiar. Usually sleeps through, bar dummy runs!

UKtoSK · 27/03/2021 00:20

@Smiffette that’s why that blanket is there 😂😂 too many crumbs and the hoover doesn’t do anything.

@MrsMarrio they love going right for the most dangerous thing don’t they? I’m moving Jia away from the oven all day long!

@Magpie21 Jia doesn’t do that but she does have phases of waking more or taking longer to go back down when she wakes. The past two nights have been awful and then she has decided to wake up for the day at 6:30 and 6 the last two days. I’m not impressed!

Magpie21 · 28/03/2021 09:14

@UKtoSK It's a constant guessing game isn't it!

How did everyone get on with the clock change? We had a 6:30am wake up...not bad but I was hoping for later. Feel like I'm missing that hour! X

Smiffette · 28/03/2021 10:07

@Magpie21 not too bad we had a 7:40 wake up.... just settling her for her first nap, which is usually at 9-9:30

Magpie21 · 28/03/2021 14:18

@Smiffette That's good! My LO should be going down for a nap now...she doesn't seem that tired though. We'll see!

Gigitree · 30/03/2021 10:36

Hope everyone got on okay with the time change. Didn’t really have much effect on Grace, she was a little bit fussy going down for her naps yesterday and we seem to now be back at a 6.40am wake up time which suits me, so I think the clock change did help slightly as her morning wake up time was just getting earlier and earlier.

Hope everyone had been blessed with some lovely sunshine today! Has anyone taken their little one to the park and had a play on the swings yet?
I’m hoping to take grace today and hope people don’t judge me for wiping down the swing first (only because of Covid I’m not a total germaphobe)

As a FTM I totally overthink everything, but as the weather is getting better I want to play out in our garden with Grace more, but as she is only crawling/cruising at the moment, what sort of things can we do in the garden? I know that might sound totally dumb, but do I just let her crawl around on the grass?
Are there some good toys/activities you guys can recommend? It’s obvs not warm enough yet for a paddling pool.

Picklesbaby · 30/03/2021 11:15

@Gigitree I used to put balls in the paddling pool just put some blankets down ,dd had a sit in ring thing- a playnest?I filled it with toys and spoons and pans she sat in there for hours😂 I haven’t taken lo to the park yet I’d feel a bit silly on my own . Pehaps if it’s nice on Friday with dh

@Magpie21 back to 6.30/7 wake ups now,I hope to never get up at 4.45am again .
Jjs sleep is improving slowly.I’ve started lying down with him at night and then putting him in his cot when he’s asleep🤷🏻‍♀️ . He tends to go straight off and sleep from 7 till at least 9pm now, Those 2 hours in the evening not fighting to get him to sleep have saved my sanity . We’ve also got down to 4-5 wake ups in the night (2/3 if he’s in bed with me 🤭) It’s leaps and bounds from every hour on the hour !
I am up a dress size but I don’t dare step on scales . Breastfeeding has made me ravenous 24-7🧁 I am making an effort to eat healthier now though and have banned takeaways for a bit lol

Gigitree · 30/03/2021 11:23

That’s a fab idea thank you! I’ll give those a try. Won’t be able to to the paddling pool filled with balls unfortunately as my dog would probably just steal them all 😂 he thinks all the (toy) balls in the world belong to him 🙄😂

Gigitree · 30/03/2021 11:24

Meant to tag @Picklesbaby above 🥰

mrssunshinexxx · 30/03/2021 12:49

@Gigitree take a blanket out and just her usual toys she will love it she will likely just go crawling off and enjoy feeling the grass!
Been taking her to the park for months and also wipe some stuff down but it's busy I tend not to I just wipe her hands when I put her back in the pram figure it's the same outcome as I don't let her put her hands in her mouth whilst she's on the equipment xx

Picklesbaby · 30/03/2021 13:12

@Gigitree Haha I’m chuckling at the (toy) before the word balls 😂. His sister is the same Tbh she’s forever stealing his toys . We bought him the cocomelon doll this weekend as he’s been laughing at the advert! so bought her a new doll aswell, they were still fighting over his🤦🏻‍♀️

@mrssunshinexxx what do you put her on ? Just the swings ? X

What’s everyone got planned over the summer ? I’m hoping we finally get to take him swimming .We have 2 weeks in Portugal booked (that we’re prepared will be cancelled Lol) but have just booked a weekend at Peppa pig world for July, maybe Lo will be old enough to sit on some rides with us😁. Cant believe how fast the past year has gone and Ive still got so many firsts to come with him yet x

mrssunshinexxx · 30/03/2021 13:57

@Picklesbaby sooo jealous I want to go abroad before this baby comes badly but I don't think it will happen. I put her on swings slide and seesaw x

MrsMarrio · 30/03/2021 14:25

@Gigitree my two dogs are the same, they steal all the babies toys. One is obsessed with (toy) balls in any capacity, we can’t let her off lead anywhere near football field as all her recall is forgotten and she’s trotting off with the football, and the other one is obsessed with the babies teddies and parades them around but I’ve had to bin a few as her teeth poke holes through the fabric.

@Picklesbaby we’ve got a week booked in Spain in July but we are thinking it’s going to be cancelled too, we’ve already moved it twice. We live quite close to Chester zoo so we will go there, we are weighing up if it’s worth becoming members, if it was normal times we defiantly would but as the zoo has been closed so much with covid, it hasn’t been worth it so far. We will probably go to a few petting zoos and we were thinking of going to flamingo land too, Rowan is really starting to take notice of all the animals on our outings now so I think places like that will be really good for him. Rowan still hasn’t been swimming yet either, I’ve said it’s something he and his dad can do together and I can have a bit of me time 😂

Gigitree · 30/03/2021 19:02

Thank you at @mrssunshinexxx I’ll do that, like I said I’m probably just over thinking it lol!

Haha @Picklesbaby I had to add in (toy) because when I read it back it just sounded wrong 😂
Ah Portugal will be amazing, hope you get to go! Before Covid our plan was to go to the Maldives this spring for my husbands 40th, then that got downgraded to a trip to Norfolk, but now it looks like we’ll have to delay that too as unfortunately his mums ovarian cancer has come back so we want to be close by whilst she goes through treatment. So we’ll likely just do some days out and we’re lucky that we live close to the beach so hoping for lots of days at the beach too.

Haha @MrsMarrio mine is very similar, I hate it when I see someone walking with one of those sticks they use to throw tennis balls for their dog, as mine will just assume it’s for him and go chasing after it 🙄😂
Thankfully he’s not too bothered by most of her toys, he has tried to steal her stacking cups a few times but that’s it which I was really surprised by as I thought he would be a nightmare trying to steal it all 😂
Awww such a cute pic of your doggo ❤️
Fingers crossed your holiday doesn’t get cancelled 🤞🏻❤️

UKtoSK · 01/04/2021 01:47

Feeling homesick (is it still home after almost 9 years away?) thinking about gardens and zoos etc. We don’t have a garden (apartment) but I am planning to buy a tent and a mat and take Jia to the park and let her crawl around a bit. There is a zoo in our city but animal welfare in this country is severely lacking and while I’d love her to see the animals I really don’t want her to think it’s ok for animals to be kept that way.

We don’t have a dog but our cats have played with a few of her toys, one is always rooting through her toy basket.

@Gigitree sorry to hear about your mother in law’s health.
