Hi everyone! I made a new thread as we were at the end of the last one. A new thread for the new year! I changed the title as we don’t have newborns anymore!

@UKtoSK I would still feel homesick after that time I think!
That's sad about the state of animal welfare!

We finally have the first two bottom teeth! They broke through over the last couple of days!

Hoping for some better sleep now... at least until the next two!

mrssunshinexxx · 01/04/2021 13:51

@UKtoSK will you stay there forever ?

Gigitree · 01/04/2021 14:26

Thank you @UKtoSK this is the second time it’s come back so I feel so sorry for her that she’s having to go through chemo for a third time, but she has always done brilliantly with it so we’re just hoping she will again this time.

I think I would be homesick too after that amount of time, not sure how old you were when you moved, but you still spent the majority of your life in the UK so it’s understandable that you would feel homesick as you must have so many memories of home. Just try to remember the rubbish things about the UK too to help you feel better, like the miserable weather 😂

@Smiffette yay for teeth! How exciting, hope sleep improves for you now.

Anyone else still on team no-teeth? Grace still doesn’t have any 😂😂

Picklesbaby · 01/04/2021 19:33

@Gigitree we’re still here ! Been to the dentist today and she said all babies are different had a feel all looks normal and they just booked him another check up in 6 months ☺️

Gigitree · 01/04/2021 20:57

Oh wow @Picklesbaby did you book an appointment with the dentist specifically because you were worried about no teeth coming through? Or were you there for yourself and got her to check baby while you were there?

Picklesbaby · 01/04/2021 21:26

@Gigitree dd had a check up so I just registered him as a new patient and booked him a check up too :-). You could tell he doesn’t get out much he was very excited 🤦🏻‍♀️

mrssunshinexxx · 01/04/2021 21:27

So cute @Picklesbaby I loved nelly's little check up

Picklesbaby · 01/04/2021 21:36

@mrssunshinexxx it’s amazing what amuses them isn’t it little loves. He was trying to bite her fingers 😂

UKtoSK · 02/04/2021 06:56

@mrssunshinexxx yes I think so. My husband has a very stable job here and we wouldn’t be as secure in the U.K. and his English isn’t good enough to work there anyway.

@Gigitree I had just turned 23 when I came here, 31 now (turning 32 this year, I swear I only just had my 30th birthday how did that happen) so almost a third of my life has been here... sounds crazy when I put it like that. I do try to remind myself of the negatives like the weather, but when it’s -10 in the winter and 35 and humid in the summer I start to even miss that!

My friend’s baby didn’t get her first teeth until after a year. Jia has her bottom front teeth but no sign of any more yet.

Does anyone else’s baby love the hoover? Jia does a big smile and a happy shriek when she sees it and then chases me around the apartment while I hoover, trying to grab it!

OP posts:
Busylizzie85 · 02/04/2021 09:31

@UKtoSK Ivy loves the hoover to, laughs and shrieks when she sees it!

MrsMarrio · 02/04/2021 09:55

@UKtoSK yes I would feel homesick too, my husband wants us to emigrate to Canada, which I think I would have done before we had Rowan but now I’m not convinced.
Rowan also loves the hoover, but only mine, he cries at my mums hoover 😂

We’ve had a crazy exhausting week, the house was rewired and I was living between houses with the dogs and the baby on my own and working, Rowan has never slept so much in his life! All the change must have exhausted him. But now the works finished I have a very dusty house so can’t put Rowan on the floor and the workmen have moved all our stuff into different rooms of the house... I’m particularly pissed off that my dyson charger isn’t where I left it and it’s nowhere to be seen and when I went to mop the floors last night my mop snapped 😅

Looks like I spoke to soon when I said I think that Rowan will only belly crawl ...he’s traditionally crawling now!

Busylizzie85 · 07/04/2021 10:25

Hope everyone has had a lovely Easter! Just wondering if anyone's LO's sleep has got worse since entering leap 7? Ours was getting better and maybe coincidently since entering leap 7 it's got horrible again 😔 think she's started having nightmares/night terrors so I made a conscious effort not to get her to overtired but it's breaking my heart when she wakes up screaming and takes ages to console her. The health visitor was utterly useless and just googled it whilst on the phone to me which I had already done 🙄😡 it's not happening at the same times every night so I can't preempt it. The last two nights we have gone back to waking every 2-3 hours 😭 and if I hear the words 'it's just a phase' one more time I may murder someone!!

Sorry for the rant.

Magpie21 · 07/04/2021 10:50

@Busylizzie85 I was waiting for someone to post about sleep!! We had a bad week and a half with our LO, where she was waking at least once a night for at least an hour or 2! And screaming every time I put her down asleep. I'm pleased to say the last 2 nights have been really good, so hopefully you won't have too many more nights if this 🤞🤞

Busylizzie85 · 07/04/2021 11:06

@Magpie21 I do hope so, I'm getting more and more anxious about going back to work, I really hoped her sleep would have improved by now but keep getting these curve balls. Constant teething is not helping either 🙈

Zoey92 · 07/04/2021 11:17

Hi everyone just reading back catching up, I'm back to work on monday and im getting so anxious about it ive no idea why as LO will be with my mam & I've been back to work twice before i had to close salon for lockdowns.

@gigitree really sorry to hear about your mother in law

@Busylizzie85 yes Amelia used to do a good stretch of 10:30 till 7 and for nearly the past week has woke up between 3:30/4:30 will take a 7/8oz bottle and go back over after about 40mins, she also had a bottle 10.30pm.
I keep thinking i must be doing something wrong like im not feeding her enough.

@MrsMarrio belly crawler over here too 😂 shes getting so frustrated though gets on all 4s and rocks.

Zoey92 · 07/04/2021 11:21

Also for those using formula when if you havent already are you planning on going onto cows milk?
LO sometimes rejects are morning bottle before breakfast so it just gets wasted

Gigitree · 07/04/2021 13:46

Sorry to hear about your HV being useless @Busylizzie85 i think a lot of them are, mine was not only useless she also gave us incorrect/out dated info when it came time to preparing formula, thankfully we knew better but it’s shocking really, and it’s so frustrating as well when we need that source of help and support. Grace used to wake up crying in her sleep a lot when she was around 2/3 months and I read it’s to do with their mental development so hopefully it’s that and it will pass for you soon enough 🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Zoey92
Thank you, she starts chemo on Monday so really hoping she tolerates it well again 🤞🏻

I’m planning on just making the switch straight to cows milk when she’s 1, I reckon I’ll just wait until nearer the time and just go cold turkey as soon as we finish the last pot of formula!
How much formula is your LO on these days? Grace has 2 or 3 150ml bottles during the day and one 210ml bottle before bed, I’m fairly certain I could probably switch all the daytime bottles for food instead and she’d probably not miss the milk! I have swapped her mid morning bottle for half a banana occasionally and she seems happy enough with that.

Does anyone else offer a mid morning milk feed or snack? If she has brekki around 7.30/8am it seems like a long time to expect her to go until like 12/12.30 without anything at all...

Busylizzie85 · 07/04/2021 14:15

@Gigitree we dropped the mid morning milk a while a go as she was just not drinking it, so she's only has her one at 7:30 and then goes till 2:30/3 without any. Starting to wonder if I should start giving snacks mid morning but food is so hit and miss at the moment it's hard to know if she's hungry or not half the time.
I can't believe you health visitor was giving out dated info that's awful!

mrssunshinexxx · 07/04/2021 15:12

Yes mine has a morning and afternoon snack my HV told me she should be daily now I dropped her morning feed a few days ago so I tend to give her a good carby snack on her pram on our morning walk, a homemade muffin, or a crumpet or a pancake that type thing @Gigitree

Gigitree · 07/04/2021 16:21

Thanks @busylizzie85 Grace seems to love her food so that’s why I’m thinking she might as well be having a snack rather than milk but idk what’s best really. She’s only refused it once, the rest of the time she happily has the milk so I’m sure she’ll need something to keep her going till lunch time.

Oh that’s interesting that your Hv told you that @mrssunshinexxx

Think I’m going to keep with giving her a mid morning snack then instead of milk and see how we go. I’ve done that the last couple of days but then not today just because it was easier to give her milk rather than think what snack to give her as I hadn’t done the food shop yet lol!

Did you guys reach out to your HV’s to ask questions or did they contact you? I’ve not heard from mine for months and wasn’t expecting to until Grace is 1 year.

Busylizzie85 · 07/04/2021 16:24

@Gigitree I have my zoom appointment for Ivys 10 month check next week. It came through the post with some checklists to fill in, otherwise I contact them but usually don't bother as they have been useless.

mrssunshinexxx · 07/04/2021 18:05

@Gigitree well it's not actually my HV she is crap and I've never met her. It's like a weaning lady who helps and works alongside them she's great. She also told me they should be having vit D drops until they are 5! Which I was really shocked about and I felt bad I stopped giving them when I started weaning no idea why I did really because you don't get vit d in food '

Gigitree · 07/04/2021 18:54

Ah ok thanks @Busylizzie85 I thought it was 12 months the next appointment, is it 10 months then? Grace will be 10 months on the 20th April (can’t actually believe how fast time is going 😩😩) so hopefully I’ll hear about her check soon then.

Oh I see @mrssunshinexxx did you automatically get referred to her or did you ask for extra info/support. Yes I think they also recommend a multi vitamin too don’t they? I’ve got some in the cupboard ready to give Grace but at the moment she’s having enough formula per day that I don’t have to give her it yet.
How are you feeling? When is your first scan?

Busylizzie85 · 07/04/2021 18:59

Just re read the letter @Gigitree it just says it's the 9-12 month health review 🤷🏻‍♀️ I hate how fast the time is going too 😔

Zoey92 · 07/04/2021 19:31

@gigitree so atm she's on two 7oz/210ml bottles morning & night, sometimes the night could be 8oz.
Shes a hungry little lass, she has 3 meals a day too plus snacks ( fruit/yoghurt, veggie sticks)

I've never heard a thing from my HV since her 3 mont check, I'm pleased too because i don't like her 😂 one of them judgey very opinionated types.
