Hi everyone! I made a new thread as we were at the end of the last one. A new thread for the new year! I changed the title as we don’t have newborns anymore!

@SRS1311 it completely makes sense when you put it that way regarding setting the nap times and length. I have decided to let the clocks change and then make some tweaks accordingly.

@mrssunshinexxx I have another question for you! Does Nelly wake much during periods of teething? It might sounds an obvious question but I'm just curious as I saw it said that a lot of sleep problems get blamed on teething.

mrssunshinexxx · 19/03/2021 13:42

@Magpie21 touch wood she has 6 teeth And they really didn't seem to bother her so I'm going to say no x

Busylizzie85 · 19/03/2021 14:53

@Magpie21 I think teething really does depend on the baby it definitely effects Ivys sleep and makes it worse! My friends baby who sleeps through the night when he's teething badly it wakes him a lot also.
I think your lucky if it doesn't.

Magpie21 · 19/03/2021 15:14

@Busylizzie85 @mrssunshinexxx Thank you! We have frequent 'off nights' can we fairly confidently put down to teething. Like you say every baby is different so it's probably that.

UKtoSK · 20/03/2021 05:00

Just been catching up. We are also still having several night wakings. We had a few nights of really good sleep when Jia was first taking cold medicine, then she got an infected toe and has had to take antibiotics and they have affected her tummy and I think that’s why she’s waking so much again. she has been sobbing when she poos, it’s so heartbreaking. I got some constipation medicine so now she’s taking about 5 different things and she won’t take them directly without vomiting so having to hide them in her purées and force her to eat and I hate it. We had been doing BLW and she was starting to really enjoy food and now I’m having to try to force her to eat and I feel so guilty, and then guilty when I can’t get her to eat and so isn’t getting her medicine. It has been a stressful two weeks.

@UKtoSK bless you that sounds hard work. Can you give her foods to help with constipation rather than medicine ? Prune juice, organges , pears in purée or whole x

Gigitree · 20/03/2021 08:20

Oh bless you @UKtoSK that sounds incredibly tough. You’re doing absolutely everything you can to do right by her so try not to be too hard on yourself (easier said than done I know) ❤️

UKtoSK · 21/03/2021 00:35

@mrssunshinexxx yes I’ve been giving her lots of things with prunes which thankfully she loves (just not with the medicine in it) and she isn’t in pain when she goes anymore

@Gigitree thank you ❤️ She completely refused to take any yesterday so I have decided to not give her any today to save us both the stress and just take her back on Monday to get her toe checked.

@UKtoSK sorry to hear that you are both going through this difficult patch 💕

Picklesbaby · 21/03/2021 05:55

@UKtoSK I’m sorry to hear this . hope things get better for you And her toe heals soon ❤️

Wakings are getting earlier and earlier here . Dd was 5.25 lo 5.35. I’ve left dh in bed for his one lie in a month, he had to take baby for a drive last night at 9pm just to get him to sleep! .I’ll be glad when the clocks go forward 😂

SRS1311 · 21/03/2021 06:58

@UKtoSK oh no that sounds terrible, is she a little better today? Hope you are through the worst. I'm dreading the first time my little one is poorly, it's such a difficult time

Suddenly the clocks going forward seems like a good thing! I'm going to keep him on his 'old time' during Sunday daytime so he will be going to bed at 8pm instead of 7pm. I'm hoping this might reset him! Grin haha

mrssunshinexxx · 21/03/2021 08:45

I'm hoping the clocks don't disrupt too much I'm going to adjust her routine by 10/15 mins for a few days before x

UKtoSK · 23/03/2021 06:24

Thanks everyone. Jia is doing much better this week. Cold is gone and I was able to get her to take her antibiotics - this morning she opened her mouth and happily gobbled it up! Strange baby 😂

So glad we don’t have to deal with the clocks changing here. Hope all the early risers start sleeping later with the change!

Smiffette · 23/03/2021 08:44

I'm interested to see what the clock change does! She normally wakes around 6:30.... as much as 7:30 sounds better it won't work for two of the days that I'm back at work so I'll need to bring it back to 6:30/7! Hopefully it won't be too much disruption!

I'm thinking we might actually see some teeth soon too! her gums have become really bumpy and I can see the hint of a tooth below it!

@UKtoSK glad Jia is better!

Blizy · 23/03/2021 13:59

Is there a sleep regression around now? I seem to have a 9 month old beast who has regressed to newborn status! She will only sleep on my chest, which is no mean feat now she is such a lump!

Gigitree · 23/03/2021 18:55

Oh I’m so glad to hear she’s doing better @UKtoSK hehe they’re funny little things aren’t they? Like to keep us on our toes!

@Smiffette I’m interested to see if it has any impact too, are you planning on just putting your little one to bed at the same time as normal on the Sunday?
Oooo a first tooth, how exciting! Still no sign here except for a LOT of dribble, but that’s been the case on and off for months now!

Omg yes @Blizy I was wondering the same thing, three times now Grace has messed around with her naps, either the morning or the afternoon one (thankfully not both on the same day which I’m grateful for)
She keeps doing this thing where she settles down for her nap, looks like she’s fallen asleep for around 5/10 mins, and then all of a sudden sits up and starts acting like she’s had her nap, so I leave her to see if she’ll settle again, but go in to settle her if/when she gets upset, but she ends up getting so wound up and upset, but as soon as I turn the lights on she’s bouncing around her cot happy as Larry. So I end up taking her out in the car just to she’ll nap!
How on earth do those people with 2 (or more) kids cope? Lol!

Smiffette · 23/03/2021 19:01

@Gigitree yes I think I am just going to put her to bed normal time on Sunday and then deal with whatever comes Sunday and work from there!

I believe there is a temporary sleep regression around 8 months it's meant to pass and not be a complete change in there sleep like the 4 month one

mrssunshinexxx · 23/03/2021 19:27

@Blizy I'm not sure ? I don't keep up with the leaps at all. I feel like they would stress me out 😩 nervous about clocks changing but going to start adjusting routine tomorrow so hopefully it all goes smoothly 🤞🤞🤞

MrsMarrio · 23/03/2021 21:03

Does anyone else have a belly crawler? Rowan will go from sitting to all fours then lays on his belly to crawl around. I’ve read that some belly crawlers will change to traditional crawling but some stay on their belly until walking, I’ve got a feeling that Rowan will be the latter. I’m hoping the walking comes sooner rather than later as his clothes get so dirty from the hard floors no matter how much I vacuum and mop them!

MrsMarrio · 23/03/2021 21:10

Also, I started a few hours back at work this week and DH took annual leave so I didn’t have too much anxiety about going back to work and leaving Rowan with someone else but my DH has messed up his routine so much that I think the clocks changing won’t be any worse! As in Rowan has only been having 2 naps for weeks and my husband has been letting him have 3 so he’s waking frequently in the night 👍🏻 I’m staying at my parents next week, just me and Rowan as the house is being re-wired and I can’t wait as I will be left in peace to get his routine nailed again!

Busylizzie85 · 24/03/2021 07:17

Could I ask if any one else is really struggling to lose the baby weight? I know I put to much on whilst pregnant and I was not stick thin before hand but I thought I'd be able to lose it. Most people say you lose it breastfeeding but that did not happen and I am not walking on average 10 thousand steps a day but the weights not shifting.

mrssunshinexxx · 24/03/2021 07:25

@MrsMarrio do you mean like army crawling/ drags himself ? Nelly does this

@Busylizzie85 sorry I am one of those annoying people that with BF and walking LOTS it has all gone which I am glad about now I'm pregnant again I'm determined to only put the same amount on
Do you drink plenty of water ?

Busylizzie85 · 24/03/2021 07:38

@mrssunshinexxx no I know I don't drink enough water I'm guilty of that.

MrsMarrio · 24/03/2021 07:42

@mrssunshinexxx yes exactly that!

@Busylizzie85 I only put on 6kg when I was pregnant, Rowan was 4.3kg when he was born, then with the amniotic fluid/ placenta/ extra blood, I was back to my pre pregnancy weight virtually straight after giving birth. However my stomach is still loose, Rowan was such a big baby, It’s covered in stretch marks which are still pink! and with this lockdown I’ve gained a little weight but I’m hoping being back in work and being more active again will help. I’ve never been great at loosing weight!

Busylizzie85 · 24/03/2021 08:04

@MrsMarrio lockdown definitely has not helped! My tummy is still very lose as well.
I'm getting married in January after having to re arrange it so I really want to lose it, I am hoping going back to work will be good for me also.
