Hi everyone! I made a new thread as we were at the end of the last one. A new thread for the new year! I changed the title as we don’t have newborns anymore!

Over the last couple of days mine has started to stand using furniture, a bit tentatively. He loves his crawling, he gets everywhere - made me very paranoid about my dirty floors lol no teeth yet, I'm glad you said colic was worse @mrsmarrio as we had that and it was such a nightmare. So if its anything less than that, we can survive it!

BLW going okay, hes much more interested and having a good go at things but not sure how much is actually being consumed haha

MrsMarrio · 12/02/2021 19:28

@SRS1311 yes I found colic hell! And I had this discussion with my mum the other day and after 5 kids and her first born had horrendous colic and she totally agreed with me that colic is worse than teething! When Rowan was 3 weeks old, he literally screamed and I mean screamed the place down every time I put him in his bed, I was up the whole night with him, it was awful. I’m still traumatised.

SRS1311 · 12/02/2021 19:58

Oh I can definitely sympathise - couldnt put ours down at night at all and that started the night we bought him home from hospital. Its amazing how many nights you can do with zero sleep, just had to hold him the entire night and too scared to close my eyes lol we also had screaming crying from 6pm till 9pm from week 3 till about week 6 or 7 and then he seemed to grow out of it which was a relief all round!!

Picklesbaby · 12/02/2021 22:47

I really don’t know what to do with myself ladies Jamie is currently in hospital with suspected meningitis and dh can’t even be here with me.I feel so alone 😢

mrssunshinexxx · 12/02/2021 22:54

Oh gosh @Picklesbaby so sorry to hear that how did you know he was poorly? Pls keep us updated I'll be thinking of you both x

Picklesbaby · 12/02/2021 23:33

@mrssunshinexxx thank you it’s so surreal not being allowed any family here . I thought he was teething but his temp reached 40 this morning but his feet were freezing. his skin went a funny colour it was awful I had to get 111 to get the gp to see me and they sent for an ambulance i just feel helpless x

Gigitree · 13/02/2021 06:16

Oh @Picklesbaby I’m so sorry that must be so scary. He’s in the best place and I’m sure the doctors will have him feeling better in no time. Thinking of you and sending lots of good vibes
Grace had a really high temp last weekend and got a rash all over, I was so scared it was meningitis but we were lucky that it was just a random virus, but I got a tiny glimpse of how things must be for you, it’s so scary and horrible to see them poorly 😢💔xxx

SRS1311 · 13/02/2021 07:12

@Picklesbaby oh no sending you lots of love that sounds horrific. I can understand the hospital not having loads of visitors in but surely your partner should be there. Hows your little one doing this morning?

Busylizzie85 · 13/02/2021 07:19

@Picklesbaby my heart goes out to you sending lots of love and hugs! x

mrssunshinexxx · 13/02/2021 08:02

How has he been over night @Picklesbaby ? Have they confirmed it's meningitis? X

MrsMarrio · 13/02/2021 09:19

@Picklesbaby oh my days, I’m so sorry to read this. Thinking of you and sending lots of love xx

Cornishbumpkin · 13/02/2021 10:30

@Picklesbaby I hope everything is OK. That sounds so scary for you

MRSO5 · 13/02/2021 10:31

@Picklesbaby oh that's horrible, sending lots of love. Hope there's good news on your little one soon and that your husband is able to get into the hospital to see you both if you are still in there x

Picklesbaby · 13/02/2021 10:44

Thank you all . It doesn’t seem it but we’ve been very lucky they gave him the antibiotics as soon as we got here yesterday . He’s improving this morning but they still can’t cannulate I asked them to stop after 4 tries I couldn’t take it . They’ve agreed to carry on injecting them into the muscle. Apparently It’s better it’s viral and not bacterial ?& theyre happy they caught it early. I was so busy worrying it was COVID I never considered it . Dp is not allowed in sadly which makes the whole thing feel worse for me. I just don’t understand how this could of happened .

@Gigitree oh it is awful when they can’t be consoled .jj didn’t even have a rash ! I hope your lo is better now x

UKtoSK · 13/02/2021 12:01

@Picklesbaby so sorry to hear that, I can’t imagine how upset you must be. I’m glad the antibiotics are helping. So sorry that you are alone there with him though. Any idea how long he will have to be in the hospital for? So lucky you caught it quickly. Xx

@UKtoSK the course is three days so I think we should be aloud home tomorrow night /Monday if he carries on responding well . They are working on his temperature to try and stop him having a febrile convulsion ? Not really sure x

Poor love looks as traumatised as I feel ❤️ I can’t bear to think what would of happened if I’d of waited. Thanks for listening to my rants. The doctors are in and out so fast .I feel like a mad woman pacing the room watching him sleep!

Oh@Picklesbaby sorry to hear that Jamie's poorly. I hope he's on the mend and makes a fast recovery. It's horrid that your dh can't be there too.

Cornishbumpkin · 14/02/2021 00:35

Think Freddie was feeling left out on the hospital stay so here we are. High temp, projectile vomiting and mottled skin hopefully just staying tonight

UKtoSK · 14/02/2021 01:16

@Picklesbaby gorgeous little boy, must be so heartbreaking to see him so poorly, I’m glad to hear you should be going home in a day or two. We are all here for you and anyone to talk to when things like this happen! I know you must not be thinking about yourself right now but I hope you are getting some rest between pacing and at least eating and drinking enough. Take care of yourself too xx

@Cornishbumpkin so sorry to hear that, let us know how he’s getting on xx

SRS1311 · 14/02/2021 10:10

@Picklesbaby glad he is doing better, bless him he looks so sweet. You must feel exhausted, hopefully your allowed out today.

@Cornishbumpkin oh no how frightening, least your in the best place now. Have they said what it is?

The thought of them getting ill like this is horrible isnt it...I'd be a mess!

Picklesbaby · 14/02/2021 12:13

@Cornishbumpkin oh I’m so sorry about Freddie. It is so scary you just want to scoop them up and take them home . how is he getting on ? X

Luckily breastfeeding mums get offered a meal at all meal times. (&dh dropped a Costa coffee in my flask at the entrance with some nappies the sweetheart .) It’s been a saviour as I’ve no one to run to the machine for me !

He’s not great ,expected though as they said he will be out of sorts for up to 10days . But He can leave once his had his last antibiotic dose at 5.30pm!!. Best valentines gift ever 😁. He looks like a pin cushion the poor baby.

Gigitree · 14/02/2021 14:52

Oh no I’m sorry to hear that @Cornishbumpkin fingers crossed he feels lots better soon!

Oh the poor thing @Picklesbaby being at home will do you both the world of good I’m sure ❤️

Gigitree · 14/02/2021 14:53

Oh and Grace is loads better now thank you for asking @Picklesbaby ❤️

Cornishbumpkin · 16/02/2021 19:08

Thanks for the messages ladies, thankfully he was a bit better by morning so we were allowed home, the think it was a viral infection of sorts. Sounds like you've had it much worse @Picklesbaby hope your doing well back at home.
