Hi everyone! I made a new thread as we were at the end of the last one. A new thread for the new year! I changed the title as we don’t have newborns anymore!

Thank you just wish I had done it abit sooner ! @Missgemini

Picklesbaby · 07/02/2021 11:48

Re those who have sleep trained what have you ladies done ? No idea where to start. Is it worth paying for a course ?

mrssunshinexxx · 07/02/2021 12:04

If you PM me your email address I will forward you mine @Picklesbaby

SRS1311 · 07/02/2021 12:33

Sounds like our babies are going to be on the move shortly - I think we will then know what true exhaustion is haha! Mine is crawling everywhere now and follows me to the kitchen etc. Its made me think about baby proofing and seeing what people have said here theres so much to think about. Plug sockets, sharp corners of tables, things that can be pulled down like TVs bookcases, fire guards, moving all my kitchen products from under the sink..ahhh so much to do and I thought maybe it be another couple of weeks!!

For people that are doing dinner or tea with their little one, out of interest what time do you do it?

Picklesbaby · 07/02/2021 13:25

@mrssunshinexxx I’ve sent it thank you👍🏼 hourly wake ups are still a thing here , the eldest has decided she’s now scared of the dark and Dh won’t be home until Saturday. I’m crumbling 🤣.

@SRS1311 used to be 5/half past with everyone else but now I feed him first so around 4.30

MrsMarrio · 07/02/2021 18:40

We usually give Rowan his dinner at 5 or half past, depends when he starts asking for it and he will sit at the table with us if we’re having dinner at the same time and he loves it sitting with us.

I’m just wondering what others have for toys?
Rowan is getting bored (and me too if I’m honest) of the toys we have now except his jumperoo and obviously that’s limited. And I’m stuck for what else to get for him. It’s an awkward stage.

MRSO5 · 07/02/2021 20:16

@Picklesbaby I read what you got sent and then also got recommended these books. The purple one is very simply written and easy to understand on a sleep deprived brain. The other more in-depth. They all have similar info/themes to be fair. I like the day time routine from them too.
Started dinner is at 5 as per the routine, works for us so haven't thought too much about it.

I'm also bored of all the same toys. Did messy play with jelly the other day which was different and fun!

Also Lucy Wolfe has a good Instagram page and answers questions etc which you might find helpful

mrssunshinexxx · 07/02/2021 20:26

@MRSO5 how much of the jelly did baby eat? Can you buy sugar free one ? I like this idea

MRSO5 · 07/02/2021 20:36

@mrssunshinexxx he ate none, which surprised me. He just spent ages touching it. I got Asda's own brand sugar free

Picklesbaby · 08/02/2021 07:56

@MrsMarrio lo has a steering wheel, and a drum absolutely loves his gund the elephant & learn to crawl ball . His dancing sloth has been good to try and get him clapping

@MRSO5 thank you for that ,I will have a look , I like the idea of simple . I can barely string a sentence together !

Busylizzie85 · 08/02/2021 09:12

We've had suger free jelly @mrssunshinexxx Ivy was rather unsure of it at first but loves it now both eating and playing with it!

@MrsMarrio Ivy literally plays with anything, yesterday she spent most of about an hour playing with measuring cups! She has a drum also that she really likes and a v-tech baby Walker that the front detaches so she sits and takes the little phone on and off and opens and closes the little door for ages.

MrsMarrio · 08/02/2021 09:42

@Picklesbaby @Busylizzie85 thanks for some new ideas! Rowan literally try’s to play with anything that’s not his toys! He could have all his singing and dancing toys in front of him and he still goes for the black TV remote! I had to give up reading last night as his little chubby fingers kept turning the page on my kindle (his dad was supposed to be entertaining him Hmm)

MRSO5 · 08/02/2021 20:53

@Picklesbaby oh I've been there, simple is much better on limited sleep. I see you have 2 LOs, hats off to you that sounds full on x

Picklesbaby · 09/02/2021 14:20

@MRSO5 I won’t lie .. I’m praying for her nursery school to reopen 😂 . I don’t know anyone that isn’t finding it hard atm though , people are not meant to raise children alone !

Smiffette · 11/02/2021 10:19

Hey, has anyone found any good white/pink noise on you tube that plays for 12 hours? thinking of trying that on the laptop tonight before investing in MyHummy

Busylizzie85 · 11/02/2021 11:05

@Smiffette if you do a you tube search for 12 hours white noise there is one called 12 hours dark screen which is quite gentle and nice but there are a few options to choose from. Can't believe we have an 8 month old tomorrow 😱

Smiffette · 11/02/2021 11:12

@Busylizzie85 great thank you!!
I know it's crazy isn't it!

Magpie21 · 11/02/2021 11:16

@Busylizzie85 I honestly don't understand where the time is going!!

Well my daughter can stand (against furniture) 😳She doesn't hang around..she decided to cut a tooth, crawl and stand in one week! It's lovely but my housework is suffering as a result! 😅 Oh well.

It's been a bit of a strange week, not being able to get out for our usual walks due to the snow. It's sunny though, so il take that.

Weaning is going okay, I'm still building my confidence with the finger food. Fortunately she doesn't turn any food down, which feels like one good thing.

Sleep is good..I'm still rocking to sleep and I'm using the dummy but once she is down she is fine so I have decided to accept that for now!

How is everyone else doing? X

MrsMarrio · 11/02/2021 12:10

@Magpie21
This week we cut a first tooth too! And I’m going to touch all the wood in the house after saying this but I would take teething over colic any day! Colic comes straight from the devil.

Weaning is going really well and he’s a really good eater. One of the recipes in ellas kitchen book uses peanut butter, but I’m terrified to use it as my husband has a nut allergy eventhough I made sure I ate lots of allergens when I was pregnant and breastfeeding.

We’re not crawling or standing yet, but now he’s spending much more time on his stomach as his reflux isn’t as bad, but being on his stomach does still make him sick.

And his sleeping is amazing, still being rocked to sleep, but he drops off within minutes so not too much of a chore.

I had my first jog since I found out I was pregnant this week too and it was just as awful as I imagined! I suffered terribly with pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy to the point I could hardly move, now I still need physio for it and that run really made me ache! I’m hoping with physio, a bit of regular stretching and exercise things will improve otherwise I think I will be completely immobile in any future pregnancy!

I’m also on my final countdown to returning to work! 5 weeks left and I’m dreading it!

Cornishbumpkin · 11/02/2021 13:34

@Magpie21 we've had 4 teeth in the past 2 weeks but he's taken it like a champ 😁 sleeping is soo much better now, only 1 wake for a feed at night, naps don't tend to last longer than about half an hour but i don't mind. Weaning is going great, we're doing BLW and he literally eats everything, his current favourites are cheese on toast, mashed potato and corn on the cob.

@mrsmario We've given him peanut butter on toast a few times. I think I've read if a first degree relative has a nut allergy you need to be very cautious introducing it, have yiu spoken to your HV?
Hope you manage to get back to your runs soon

MrsMarrio · 11/02/2021 14:43

@Cornishbumpkin 😂 my HV was in touch when Rowan was 10 days old for the very first and last time. I’ve no contact nor do I even remember her name. She had me booked in for when he was 8 weeks but never made contact

Cornishbumpkin · 12/02/2021 10:05

@mrsmario 😂 maybe not then.

NeurologicallySpeaking · 12/02/2021 10:44

Had anyone starting using clips in their baby's hair? LO has so much of it and it just keeps getting in her eyes. But every hair accessory seems like a massive choking risk.

mrssunshinexxx · 12/02/2021 16:08

@NeurologicallySpeaking Nelly has lots of hair I use a headband
