Hi everyone! I made a new thread as we were at the end of the last one. A new thread for the new year! I changed the title as we don’t have newborns anymore!

@mrssunshinexxx also not on contraception and no period yet. The trying for a baby subreddit has a lot of people trying for seconds that might be helpful for you.

@Busylizzie85 Jia has a bald spot in the same place and she sleeps on her side and tummy but since she started sitting up well around Christmas and doesn’t spend much of her awake time on her back now it has started growing back finally the past week or so.

Jia still isn’t swallowing enough food for it to affect her milk feeds, but she is starting to go longer between them now (apart from at night lol) and no matter how much she feeds at night or what time the last night feed was she rarely wants to feed within the first hour of waking up. Anyone else’s baby the same?

@UKtoSK @Picklesbaby glad I'm not alone ! Ooh do you have a link please @UKtoSK

Gigitree · 04/02/2021 07:04

Hey, I know they’re not recommended by lullaby trust, but is anyone using those mesh breathable cot bumpers? Grace keeps losing her dummies through the cot bars 🙄 no matter how many we put in her cot we still end up having to go in and hand her a new one because they end up on the floor so often. It was only happening occasionally before but now she’s more mobile she sort of flings them about lol

Picklesbaby · 04/02/2021 09:00

@UKtoSK we’re on 3 meals a day and it has also had no effect to night feeding. But yes ,i offer upon waking it’s always refused !but he has breakfast fine and won’t bf till 9.30ish before his nap. I actually wondered if he was having too much food because he barely seems interested in daytime feeds anymore (but feeds all night 🤣)

Thank you @UKtoSK

Hi everyone, I've been a bit absent here. Home schooling my 6 year old and Rose being Rose is just hard work!

@Gigitree please don't use a mesh bumper, my old colleagues 7 month old grandson sadly passed away in the summer due to being caught up in one. Utterly devastating.

Rose is doing well, finally learned to roll from back to front, still hates tummy time. She can sit unaided and she has started to say "Mumma"!
Her sleep on the other hand is a different story, she's awake multiple times a night, never upset just fully of smiles and nonsense.
She's doing amazingly with weaning, we are blw and she LOVES her food. She hasn't refused anything yet. Her fav foods are broccoli, hummus and all the meat!

Missgemini · 05/02/2021 10:28

Just wanted to add that my LO also has that bald patch at the back. I think it's just a baby thing and will grow back!

@Blizy that's such a sad story. I can't even imagine how those parents are feeling.

Gigitree · 05/02/2021 12:17

@Blizy oh gosh that is terrible and so sad! They really just shouldn’t be allowed to sell them should they!?

Blizy · 05/02/2021 13:26

I just can't imagine how they just be dealing with it. Doesn't bear to think about.
Last day of home schooling here before had term. Yay!!!
I salute all teachers, I've been driven demented! I'm in Glasgow and schools return for p1-p3
On the 22nd Feb. Not sure how I feel about it if I'm honest, I've loved having my big boy around every day.

NeurologicallySpeaking · 05/02/2021 22:11

@Blizy was going to get the cot mesh - so sad to hear and I certainly won't be now.

My LO is all about the meat too! Chewing determinedly on a strip of steak today!

mrssunshinexxx · 06/02/2021 07:19

Is anyone else raising there baby as pescatarian or v little meat ( once a week)

UKtoSK · 06/02/2021 08:01

@Blizy that’s so sad, I can’t even imagine what the parents went through. Makes me feel sick. After reading that before bed last night I was happy to be woken up a lot and gave her an extra big hug each time.

Speaking of sleep, after waking a few times at the start of the night, Jia slept from 12-6 without waking once! First time she has slept a solid six hour stretch in months! Hoping it continues. How is everyone else getting on with sleep? And sleep training?

@mrssunshinexxx I used to be vegetarian for a long time (started eating meat again when I came to Korea) and went vegetarian again for a couple of years but then started eating meat again while pregnant. But I still don’t include much meat in my diet and am planning to give Jia mostly meat free meals. I bought the ‘Little Veggie Eats’ baby cook book and it has some great looking recipes.

Jia today has just started trying to pull herself up. She can get to her knees by herself but not quite to her feet but I guess it won’t be long now. So I was wondering, what is everyone doing about their TVs? Ours is quite big and heavy and just on a stand on a cabinet, not mounted on to the wall and I’m worried she will pull up and pull the TV over onto her. Is there a good way to secure the TV without mounting it to the wall on a bracket? That’s what I’d like to do but my husband doesn’t want to...

OP posts:
MrsMarrio · 06/02/2021 08:58

@UKtoSK all our TVs are wall mounted the brackets are quite cheap. But there maybe a way to attach it to the wall like you would a chest of drawers? Or could you buy a higher cabinet so she cannot reach?

Picklesbaby · 06/02/2021 16:38

Does anyone else’s baby tense up and shake ? 😂 jj Pulls the funniest face and literally goes red. I think it’s when he gets excited as it’s either when food is coming or when he’s looking at his faverite picture on the wall 🙈

Gigitree · 06/02/2021 19:17

Haha no @Picklesbaby but my friends daughter used to do this when she was angry lol, so cute!

Cornishbumpkin · 06/02/2021 20:17

@UKtoSK could you get a guard to go round the TV so she can't get near it like they make for fireplaces? My TV is on the wall and starting to think about moving other bits higher.
@picklesbaby my LO clenches his fists and shakes whilst shouting or screaming when he gets really excited, usually when food is involved haha.

MRSO5 · 07/02/2021 01:03

We've been sleep training since Sunday night. It's been so tough and nearly broke me, but Friday night was our best sleep ever with only one short wake/feed. Never thought I'd get to say that. Tonight he has woken after 5 ish hours and has gone straight back to sleep. So fingers crossed he sleeps again til morning. We just need to sleep train me now as I can't get back to sleep.

My tv is on the wall, but the boxes are low so hoping he'll just ignore them. Although he LOVES the tv remote!

We have a screamer here when excited too. And then the noise makes him more excited and he gets louder and louder.

mrssunshinexxx · 07/02/2021 07:30

I struggled with insomnia when my lo started actually sleeping , takes a couple weeks but you will hopefully start to sleep better again yourself. Last 2 nights my LO has slept a straight 12 hours ! Sleep training has been brilliant here

MRSO5 · 07/02/2021 09:01

@mrssunshinexxx that's great! I'm not surprised about the insomnia after months of night waking ourselves. Did you night wean or did that happen naturally?
He woke again at 4.30 but his nappy had leaked. We've had trouble with that for a few nights but thought we'd it fixed with a different brand and doubling up.

mrssunshinexxx · 07/02/2021 10:11

I rocked instead of feeding her last Sunday night (she was only waking once) and she went through til morning then she got a rash and was poorly for 3 days so I fed her the one time she woke as didn't want her getting dehydrated then the last 2 nights she has just slept through! @MRSO5

Missgemini · 07/02/2021 10:26

@uktosk our TV was also mounted for that reason. Although I've heard about something that holds cabinets (and maybe TVs) from behind, to stop them from falling.
My LO has been pulling up to stand for the last couple of weeks. Childproofing has had to be done very very quickly here haha

I'm still so grateful that his bed time remains at around 6 to 7 in the evening. DH and I have been having a great time in the evenings :) Proper sleep training will come later. I'm scared!

Missgemini · 07/02/2021 10:27

@mrssunshinexxx that's very impressive! Well done :)
