Hi everyone! I made a new thread as we were at the end of the last one. A new thread for the new year! I changed the title as we don’t have newborns anymore!

Will he feed himself it ? @MrsMarrio you

MrsMarrio · 31/01/2021 17:32

@mrssunshinexxx nope he's not at that stage yet, he's just getting the hang of sipping water himself from his cup but that has handles and I've learned that my baby is very lazy 🤣 knew it from the moment I tried breastfeeding 😂

Picklesbaby · 31/01/2021 17:55

@Gigitree it’s so scary watching them eat real food isn’t it! Just thought I’d say,my lo also has no teeth&it’s not stopping him 😅

We dropped LO 7:30pm bottle as she was asleep by then

Wakes about 7am
8am Bottle
11:30am Porridge
2pm Bottle
5pm Food
10:30/11pm bottle

I changed her 11:30am bottle to porridge as she stopped taking the full feed but will happily eat her porridge.
LO has her 2 bottom teeth in now too.
Scary how she was 7month last Sunday.

Hope everyone is well and keeping ok.
I have been reading time to time but the extended lockdown has really got to me & have struggled abit.

Gigitree · 31/01/2021 19:40

@Picklesbaby awww what a gorgeous picture - you have the same high chair as us 😀
Oh I’ve no problem giving her finger foods, I think it’s incredible how much they can eat with no teeth! 😂 I just wasn’t sure how corn on the cob would go down with no teethies

Picklesbaby · 31/01/2021 21:21

@Gigitree i still havnt been able to figure out how to get the basket to attach 🙈 but the matching splash mat that goes underneath is a life saver. And Isnt it unbelievable how hard the gums are they mush up the most surprising things ! my dh still worries over him eating bread 🤣

Gigitree · 02/02/2021 20:15

Oh no @Picklesbaby sorry I can’t help you there my DH did it as he’s much better at that sort of thing than me!
I find that even if something is slightly too hard for her she manages to sort of chomp and suck on it till it’s softer and then swallows it - my dh worries more than me about these things too

SRS1311 · 03/02/2021 10:19

Thanks everyone for the formula responses and @Gigitree for the info! Weaning still seems slow going for my little one..he is only having two or three mouthfuls so not sure if he is ready to drop milk or not...hes still happily taking the bottle! Will see how he gets on!

NeurologicallySpeaking · 03/02/2021 13:42

It's rather mad. Today LO had sweet corn chowder. Quite a few spoons. Few pieces of pitta soaked in the chowder. A broccoli florets. Then a tablespoon of yoghurt with strawberry purée. Thirty minutes later she drains nearly 200ml of milk. Therefore we are back on 8 feeds a day as the food has been added but no bottles lost. Sigh!

mrssunshinexxx · 03/02/2021 14:05

Hey can I ask those who are breast feeding and NOT on contraception how long did it take for your periods to come back?

Busylizzie85 · 03/02/2021 15:54

@mrssunshinexxx I had my first one in November and then not another one till beginning of January so a bit all over the place!

mrssunshinexxx · 03/02/2021 16:14

Have you been off contraception the whole time since baby was born @Busylizzie85

Busylizzie85 · 03/02/2021 16:15

Yes @mrssunshinexxx I did not want to go back on to anything till I was finished breast feeding 😊

Smiffette · 03/02/2021 16:19

@mrssunshinexxx mine came back month 4 after birth... they've been pretty regular every 4-5 weeks since then. I was regularly as clockwork before baby

Smiffette · 03/02/2021 16:20

@NeurologicallySpeaking we've been on 3
Meals a day for 3 weeks or so now and now change to milk feeds, she's BF never took to bottles. I was hoping to see a reduction in feeds but nope!

mrssunshinexxx · 03/02/2021 16:36

@Smiffette @Busylizzie85 I'm jealous both yours have come back so soon! My lo is 7months I went back on contraception when she was newborn as we were having sex and was scared of getting pregnant so fast I had regular bleeds on the contraception but they aren't proper periods I stopped taking it in dec and nothing since. The gp has said very slim chance of getting pregnant until periods come back and now we are desperate for number 2 ! She has literally just last night, night weaned so Hoping with the 12 hour of no feeds that will spring them back into action ?!

Smiffette · 03/02/2021 16:41

@mrssunshinexxx oh and I'm not on contraception.... we are Just using condoms as I really didn't want to go back on the pill and we will be trying for another one next year so didn't see the point. Will look at more permanent solution after baby number 2.

mrssunshinexxx · 03/02/2021 16:44

So strange how different it is for each woman hopefully mine will return in a month or 2 then we can actively TTC I now wish I had not gone back on anything ! @Smiffette

Busylizzie85 · 03/02/2021 17:19

Does anyone know how I can help ivy get rid of this bald spot? She sleeps only on her back with her hands behind her head a lot and rubs it on the mattress when trying to settle herself. I can't think how to help as it's now got a little red mark in the middle assuming she scratches it possibly or pulls the hair 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Busylizzie85 not really much you can do, Rowan has one too, they usually sort themselves out when they spend less and less time lying down and when their hair is less fine and not as easily rubbed off.

Busylizzie85 · 03/02/2021 18:24

Thanks @MrsMarrio I wasn't sure if there was anything g

Busylizzie85 · 03/02/2021 18:25

Sent that too early!
I want sure if there was anything I could do. Hopefully her hair will grow back ok 😊

MrsMarrio · 03/02/2021 18:28

@Busylizzie85 should be fine, all my nieces and nephews had them and mum says I had one (I was the only one of her children to be born with hair) and I deffo still don't have a bald spot 😂

mrssunshinexxx · 03/02/2021 19:11

@Busylizzie85 Nelly has a bald spot too and she sleeps mostly on her side so no idea how she's got it ?! Think it will sort itself out x

Picklesbaby · 03/02/2021 19:25

@mrssunshinexxx I’m not on contraception and mine are no where to be seen. x
