hello, we're over here

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bumperlicious · 28/10/2007 13:29

The things we do for a bit of peace! Have you tried DS with a dummy fury? Are his teeth bothering him?

DD is asleep on me yet again...don't know how to knock this one on the head.

MJ we've just retrieved the chair bit for dd's pushchair. the only this stopping me using it at the moment is there are two brackets attached for use with the pram and car seat, but you have to remove them for the chair and I can't be bothered!

HellHathNoFury · 28/10/2007 13:36

Hey Bumper
Yeah his teeth are really bad now. He has long since rejected dummys, he hates them 99% of the time these days.

TBH my mum brought us up on rusks and gluten and powdered carnation milk and we're all well, no allergies, eczema etc etc so I am not beating myself up over it!

And we have have - dare I say it - a NICE day so far lol!
Bring on the weaning

foxystein · 28/10/2007 13:47

Do they put sugar in rusks? I love, love, love Farleys rusks. With a glass of cold milk. mmmmm. Have you tried the Organix range which are sweetened with apple juice I think?

Bumper, my lo doesn't want to sleep in the bedroom during the day. I've just put her down and she's gurgling away. Am going to leave her until she starts to yell at me.

With regard to the nights, Bumper, do be careful you and DH don't get into the habit of sleeping apart. We did, sometime around the birth of DD1 I think, and its been crap since. I love having the bed to myself too much, and he doesn't want to disturb us (he has a major snoring problem). And we row when I kick him out for waking me up with it, which isn't good in the middle of the night. Sometimes we wake the babies. Its good to let them have their space.

foxystein · 28/10/2007 13:48

How about frozen banana for his gums? Check it out first though, its not something I've done only heard of.

HellHathNoFury · 28/10/2007 13:56

hmmm might work Foxy.

He LOVES cold watermelon too. and apple.
Yeah apparently there is quite a bit of sugar in rusks which I think is why a lot of people don't like giving them to young babies.
They do sell reduced sugar ones though.

DS is as happy as larry today though for having had 'food'. he likes banana porridge best.

...

HellHathNoFury · 28/10/2007 14:03

hellooooooooooooooo Daisy!

We missed you! How was your trip?

bumperlicious · 28/10/2007 14:06

Well i suggested that DH and DD share a room together that way i could get some sleep and they could both snore away! he wasn't impressed. It's worse at the moment coz these damn ads are making me wake up 3 or 4 times a night, and i struggle to get back to sleep and the slightest noise send me over the edge which makes less likely to get back to sleep.

at the moment i'm ready to bugger off and leave them both to it. DD has been really whingy today and keeps falling asleep at the breast. tried putting her down but she just cries. i've got such a short fuse with her at the moment It's probably because i am hungry.

IamDaisy · 28/10/2007 14:11

fab fab fab.....but I'm the size of a double decker bus with all the eating I've done

park was great, pool fantastic, cycled everywhere, food very good. Only drawbacks were very rude dutch people, and the fact that everyone smokes....the crazy golf had a farking ashtray at every hole fgs and there ere people standing outside in their swimmies so they could have a fag!

MRR had a ball, babyboo loves swimming....and food....and the overnight ferry trips were great fun. We should've been home yesterday, but some stoopid pregnant burd booked the ferry home for Saturday, not Friday, so cost us an extra £200 in hotels and meals .....and DH only tried to drive on the wrong side of the road twice once in the middle of nowhere, and once at a very busy road junction, with me screaming RIGHT, RIGHT, RIGHT, at full volume!

IamDaisy · 28/10/2007 14:12

am off to catch up....what have they done with the display? very confoosing!

bumperlicious · 28/10/2007 14:17

Hiiiiiii daisy! we've missed you!

IamDaisy · 28/10/2007 14:25

oi you lot....i've just got to the bit where it's too slow and quiet withou me

Hi bumper, sorry to hear your feeding/sleeping woes are continuing. babyboo has gone to pot as well recently (she has been up two or three times most nights ), but have heart, she learned to get her dummy back in by herself yesterday and now likes to practice it all day. We've got a nice wooden dummy chain thingy so she doesn't lose it!

IamDaisy · 28/10/2007 14:38

Proud Mummy Moment.....

we got home to a letter for DS from his teacher; he was chosen for the KEy Stage 1 "Wall of Fame" at school because of his behaviour and how well he has settled in to Year 1 . He got a certificate and his photo goes up on the wall until the end of next term. There were only 3 awards made out of 120 children so he is feeling very smug (and so, secretly, are we given his performance last year)

On a negative note though, my mum has been resident of the cancer hospice for over a week now (the day before we went on hols, but I only found out today as my family didn't want to spoil our holiday). she has had a really bad infection, and because she has lost heaps of weight her potassium and sodium leves were all over the place and her medicines were playing havoc with her immune system. She is on the mend though, and expects to be allowed home at some point, but it's quite scary her being in there as people tend not to come home again....I'm going up to visit her next weekend.

annobal · 28/10/2007 14:45

Foxy, my lo won't sleep in his cot through the day either. He sleeps in his pram.

MJ you can unzip a the top zips on the Phil and Ted's so your lo is sitting up but not all the way up. I used to use this setting for DS2 when he wanted a sleep.

annobal · 28/10/2007 14:46

Hi Daisy, missed you! How was your holiday?

Man, it didn't take me that long to do the last post did it???

IamDaisy · 28/10/2007 14:50

hellooo annobal . twas fab, but I didn't eat a single belgian chocolate, not one.....and I'm now sitting here thinking why the F not? It wasn't a conscious decision or anything Xmas Hmm

annobal · 28/10/2007 14:50

Daisy, I'm so sorry about your Mother

Huge well done for MRR though!

annobal · 28/10/2007 14:51

mmmnn waffles

bumperlicious · 28/10/2007 14:52

daisy, hope your mum is ok. Hopefully a bit of 'baby therapy' will help.

HellHathNoFury · 28/10/2007 15:00

Sorry to hear about your Mum Daisy

IamDaisy · 28/10/2007 15:00

thanks guys. I spoke to her for over an hour today and she is in her usual indominitable spirits, her one complaint is that all the other patients are too ill to talk! tbh I think she is only in the hospice as it frees up a hospital bed. She isn't at death's door yet, thankfully.

I didn't have any waffles either, but I have been eating wheat products . I would have starved otherwise as I forgot to take any gluten free cereal/bread/[pasta with me and my one attempt at explaining gluten free was met with utter incomprehension.

Right am off to tackle a mountain of washing, feed DD than make chilli for tea!

foxystein · 28/10/2007 15:02

Hey Daisy! Welcome 'home'. Yes, you were missed. The amount of tumbleweed that blew through this thread without you was quite something.

milkyJammy · 28/10/2007 15:22

Welcome back Daisy! Glad hols were good, sorry to hear about your mum.

Well DD sat up in her pushchair quite happily. And didn't grumble in the shops like normal. I think she quite liked being able to look round, rather than just seeing the ceiling and having bright lights shining down on her.

LittleMissNorty · 28/10/2007 15:33

Hello ladies....welcome back Daisy

Sorry to hear about your mum Daisy ...will be good to get up and see everyone next weekend.....did DH manage not to smoke with all that smoking going on? How did you do with the wine?

MJ...my LO loves sitting up in her pushchair and looking around....its even better when she's in the supermarket trolley babyseat...she gawps at everything.

Bumper - I've done the car seat thing as well and I won't tell you the number of times I have forgotten to turn off that damn air-bag when she's in the front with me ...

Right off to sort out dinner...my moussaka and lime torte was scrummy last night

milkyJammy · 28/10/2007 15:37

I keep forgetting to put the carry handle of the car seat into its upright position, which the instructions (I think) say it must be in for safety .
