Hey everyone!

Pretty quiet weekend here - we were planning a nice one, before dp realised it was derby weekend and rugby, plus the weather has been crap.

Got a mystery shopping this morning at the bank which is good, as I have a cheque to pay in anyways.

Leaky, so so pleased Eva is home safe.

Luce - bit of your nappies...{{{{{whispers}}}}}} might I be able to borrow 1 or 2 of the smaller ones... just out of interst of course

Got C a cute reindeer outfit from mothercare yesterday..

Lucewitch · 22/10/2007 10:24

Pics of cute reindeer outfit please

GMM, you can have some of the smaller nappies. I didn't realise that S had such a rounded bottom, must take after his mummy

Hello all

I'm back finally!!

I know I said it wasn't too bad...well that was just the first day, it was an absolute Fking nightmare and both DH and I have said we'll never go and stay with them again. Weather was awful they had the worst storms for years and most of the town was terrribly flooded and to top it all our flight back to Southampton was delayed.

Flight was supposed to leave at 12:40pm, they kept delaying it until they said at 3pm it wouldn't fly until at least 7:30pm Dh went to talk to the desk who said they were flying an engineer in from Southampton to look at the plane and he wouldn't be there until at least 8pm and even when he got there the plane probably wouldn't fly and if it did it would be too late to fly into Southampton because the airport closes at midnight and it would fly into Exeter and they would bus us back to Southampton!!!! that was if it flew at all, otherwise the next flight to Southampton wasn't until 2:30pm today!!!! they refused to put us up in a hotel until after midnight so DH got very angry and booked us on a flight to bournemouth instead which cost nearly £400 and we got back at midnight! BIL picked us up from Bournemouth and we eventually got home at about 1am. On the plus side the Jake and Izzy were wonderfully behaved to whole time and we were complimented by other passsengers about how good they were bearing in mind we spent 11 hours in the airport!

Well done if you've read my essay, just had to rant about it.

Have been missing you all. Will try and catch up a bit later, love to you all xxx

SharpMolarBear · 22/10/2007 10:38

oh bwi that sounds awful

leakyR · 22/10/2007 10:47

Good morning

Had a nice weekend. I went shopping (sans bebe) on Saturday afternoon, nothing exciting just food shopping but it was nice to be alone with my thoughts for once.

When I got back G was asleep and dh had done some housework

ILs visited yesterday on their way back from London. We went out for a pub lunch and had a nice walk in Roundhay Park. They seemed exhausted - hardly surprising the last 2 weeks have been pretty stressful. They were very reserved about Eva. I get the feeling that until she's had a few weeks at home with no problems, they won't let themselves enjoy her like they do George.

Do any other bfers struggle to get baby to feed in strange surroundings? G can be starving but either turns his head away or screams. It makes days out pretty stressful. Any ideas?

leakyR · 22/10/2007 10:49

X-post BWI. Sounds awful!

nappynuttynormabutty · 22/10/2007 11:01

BWI - sounds awful re the flights, at how little they'd do for you.

Leaky - not bf'ing here but Erin often gets distracted when we're somewhere new. I try to sit so she's not facing other people (she has a tendency to nose at them ) and so that she's looking at something pretty plain and boring iyswim.

SharpMolarBear · 22/10/2007 11:36

yes leaky I have a similar problem.
i either try to go somewhere quieter, or just feed him what he'll have & not worry about it - he won't let hinself starve, and he normally catches up when we get home

geordiemacmummy · 22/10/2007 12:33

my liitl boy is having his mammies home-made lasagne for his dinner {{proud mummy emoticon}}

mammyjo · 22/10/2007 12:36

Hi all. WO, sorry you are having a rough time with dh at the moment. Seems to be catching around here

Leaky, I am just weaning F off me and onto formula as she was exactly like you describe. TBH I think she is just too nosey. She will not bf from me in the day at all now and I can only think that it is because she has to face inwards and cannot see anything else. She drinks from a bottle beautifully. I was happy to start weaning her off me anyway, but could you try a bottle of EBM? I know its a faff to express, but may be worth a try? HTH!

Ange, sounds like an absolute nightmare. At least the dc's were well behaved

mammyjo · 22/10/2007 12:36

Sounds good GMM, can we all come for tea?

geordiemacmummy · 22/10/2007 12:38

No probs - I have made enough for a small army..

NorthernLurker · 22/10/2007 12:44

Ugh - day not going well. I arranged to see two nurseries today ( because the one I've used previously is closing )On the way to the first realised I have a puncture! Have had inflated tyres on pushchairs for more than five years without any trouble and I have to get a puncture today! Have rearranged second nursery visit and booked tyre in for repair later in week but feel very cheesed off with it all!
First nursery was ok - but the rooms seemed very small

SharpMolarBear · 22/10/2007 12:45

ooh put my name down for lasagne please

geordiemacmummy · 22/10/2007 13:28

Bigonion on his way with some lasagne... I have included a pot of home-made soup too... I am a domestic goddess

mammyjo · 22/10/2007 14:09

Domestic goddess indeed!! I am making beef stew, dumplings and mash for tea - YUM!!
Have got ds home from school with an ear infection. Was up quite a few times overnight with him crying as his ear was hurting (bless). Typical, as F slept right through! Took him to the GP and he has given him antibiotics. It is actually quite nice to have him home with me, and an extra bonus is the fact that he will entertain F too!!

oooggs · 22/10/2007 14:29

weeonion - sorry things have turned to this, but enjoy the hotel

welcome back Ange - I have missed you was it you who was decorating a nursery pink recently?????????? I need to see pictures

well done at you all cooking for your familes

yes dippy - they are clueless and don't need to be drunk

just done a tesco shop online - I can't be bothered this week and its half term in Devon (where I would have to shop)

last night was crap, but today was another day. I woke up at 5.30am and didn't know where I was - I was in bed with James

Sexonlegs · 22/10/2007 15:27

Hiya ladies

Welcome back Ange. Sorry you had such a pants time. I hope you got some sort of compensation, or at least free drink/food from the airline. Hopeless.

Mammyjo, I guess it isn't half term where you are then? Poor ds - hope the ab's work soon.

Oooggs, sorry you had a crap night - do you sleepwalk?

GMM, you are the Nigella Lawson of the North!

Hi to everyone else I have failed to mention.

It's half term here, and it is hard work already! Tbh, B has been very good. Helped carry the Tesco delivery stuff in to the kitchen and helped unpack it (all without being asked). Have been to Hobbycraft today and got a load of stuff to do art, and then a bit later, we are going to wave my parents off. They are going on a cruise for 2 weeks - lucky buggers!

Sexonlegs · 22/10/2007 15:28

Meant to say that K is an absolute nightmare with being fed if anyone is around or we are out and about. She gets so distracted.

She is so un-hungry today.

Eddas · 22/10/2007 16:19

HI everyone, brain is too tired to remember what i've just read. I want to go to sleep.NOW. if i tantrum like dd does when she's tired do'ya think it'll get me anywhere I NEED SLEEP.

My bathroom now has a new bath and floor tiles in grouting being done(maybe by me) tonight, if I can stay awake DH is going to try tiling the walls as the blokes he knows aren't availble for 3 weeks, then our lvoely plumber/DH's mate can come back and fit the loo and sink(sorry pedestal and basin[rolls eyes at thought of getting it wrong and being corrected by DH])

Does anyone want to come and cook diner as I can't be arsed. Oooo who had lasagne? that'd be nice

after doing a puzzle with dd[rolls eyes again]

Eddas · 22/10/2007 16:21

ok crap was supposed to be crossed through not italic ahhhhhhhhh - - round the word not ^^

Told you I was tired

leakyR · 22/10/2007 16:54

In a quandary now we've had a second valuation on the flat. They're both about the same value but can't decide which agent to go with. Hmmmmmm.
One is a big chain of agents the other is more local. Will that make a difference? I've never done this before (Can you tell?)

DH just called, his work colleague who used to work for another estate agent has advised us to go with the local agent. Excellent no more thinking required.

Once it's on the market we can start looking properly at houses. Yay!!! I WILL have a garden before next summer!

Eddas hope the bathroom gets finished soon. It's a nightmare not having access to "facilities".

SMB - I do as you do and just let G take as much/little as he will when we're out he does catch up when we get home, but I always worry that he's hungry while we're out. He's just too curious.

Eddas · 22/10/2007 17:03

Leaky, i'd hold back on looking at houses until you've got an offer on your place. We didn't and lost the house we liked because our wasn't sold then when it was the house had gone IYSWIM. Til your place is sold no-one will accept any offers you put in.

Don't want to dampen your happiness but just want to warn you not to get too excited as this is a slow time to buy/sell so it may take a while to sell. BUT i really hope it doesn't and you get your new place ASAP. I was so excited when we decided to go for the move

SharpMolarBear · 22/10/2007 17:03

leaky that's so exciting, I love house hunting!!
Yeah, I don't go out much / for very long

NorthernLurker · 22/10/2007 17:06

impossible to feed B out and about - she just doesn't get in to it.....

Well am back from looking at second nursery and this one was ok - actually it was nice. Just struggling because it isn't the one I had planned....to be positive - big girls liked it. The rooms were all a good size, baby rooms were very nice and the pre-school class room area was lovely. Good sized outside space and the most positive thing is that it's part of the same company as ran the last one so I know the procedures, approach etc. Still want to cry though.....
