dd is quite sensitive to cold when she was younger would scream blue murder about almost every change, bath, etc. Now she sits in the bath and says 'cold...cold' pointing at the hot tap to get more hot water we still use the thermometer thing, so I know its not too cold in there, but i think she's taking after me (its not a good bath unless your skin is red where its been under water LOL)

CountessPHOENIXula · 18/10/2007 23:04

Lew has never tried to climb out and up to a while ago he rarely even stood up even though he could. He isn't really a climber though anyway.

EachPeachPearMum · 18/10/2007 23:05

Do childrens' duvets have different tog rating to adults? How warm do they need to be? I was a bit confused by grobags being 2 or 2.5 tog as she always seemed perfectly warm enough on nights when I needed a 15 tog!

CountessPHOENIXula · 18/10/2007 23:06

I don't really think cold bothers him at all i just worry he's cold.

CountessPHOENIXula · 18/10/2007 23:09

I always wonder that but i don't know . The cot quilt we've got is from Next and it says its 4 tog. To me that's a summer duvet (which reminds me i need to get our winter duvet out)

EachPeachPearMum · 18/10/2007 23:14

cold is such a hard thing to judge though- everyone has different comfort zones. I'm always cold. Drives my colleagues mad, as they always want the window open - even in winter I think they're weird, but I'm sure its me!

Jas · 18/10/2007 23:18

I think childrens duvets are lighter, but as ds has no covers, ever, I'm not really an expert. DD2 rarely sleeps under her quilt at 7. DD1 is more like me and has it all tucked in around her, but even she didn't use a cover at all until she was 2.5.

I think too cold is better than too hot (uncomfortable as opposed to dangerous). DS woke up cold when the heatingwasn't working but otherwise is fine.

I have wine and crisps, and dp is planning more building work.
He has someone coming to look at rewiring the whole house at the weekend though, which is long overdue, and I'm quite excited b the prospect of having electric sockets in my kitchen

EachPeachPearMum · 18/10/2007 23:19

erm...

ChasingSquirrels · 18/10/2007 23:23

T is definately a climber, like a little mountain goat, but don't think it has occured to him to climb when in a grobag
ds1 wasn't a climber at all, I moved him from a cot to a bed (well converted cot-bed) because he was such a lardy lump that he was too heavy to pick up and put in the cot.

Jas · 18/10/2007 23:24

I have a socket for the fridge, and a double socket for everything else in the whole kitchen. (DP kindly put that in for me when I was 8 months pg with dd1 who is now 8, as up until then everything ran off an extension lead on the floor,)

CountessPHOENIXula · 18/10/2007 23:24

God yeah i'd rather be cold i hate been hot

Jas · 18/10/2007 23:26

I moved dd1 to a bed when she pushed the cot matress down betwen the springs and risked injuring herself due also to being a lardy lump.

Jas · 18/10/2007 23:27

EPPM - I lived in Brum for a few years. The accent creaps up on you without you noticing I ended up with a lovely Black counrty accen due to my dp at the time being from Dudley.

CountessPHOENIXula · 18/10/2007 23:30

When we got our new kitchen they put loads of extra sockets in it's fab We've got sockets in cupboards for the washer, cooker, dishwasher and dryer and 4 double sockets for kettle, toaster etc.

Jas · 18/10/2007 23:32
Envy
EachPeachPearMum · 18/10/2007 23:32

Yeah- dh says some of my vowels are definitely getting warped- but he's lived here almost 30 years and still not got an accent! meh

I've been here (b'ham) 10 years though.

PMSL at 'mattress between the springs'! What was she doing? just messing? dd tends not to mess around or climb in bed- don't think its occured to her yet. the most she does is sit up when she doesn;t want to go to sleep.

Jas · 18/10/2007 23:34

She was 2 and huge and just stood in the corner of the cot.

EachPeachPearMum · 18/10/2007 23:35

too- when we moved into our house 2 years ago, despite having a brand new kitchen, there were only 5 sockets accessible! 1 taken by fridge, 1 taken by boiler, but its a double- the spare one there is wasted as its on an empty wall
1 always has kettle in, so we have to switch between toaster and microwave all the time.

CountessPHOENIXula · 18/10/2007 23:35

What is an average age to go into a bed?

ChasingSquirrels · 18/10/2007 23:36

18m - 3y - LOL

EachPeachPearMum · 18/10/2007 23:37

now im laughing even more (sorry) 'she was just stood in the corner of the cot'. sounds like 'it just came apart in my hands mum!'

EachPeachPearMum · 18/10/2007 23:38

Dd has a sneaky bounce whenever she's standing in her cot, and thinks we're not going to notice. Did she look at all dishevelled?

Where abouts in B'ham did you live?

Jas · 18/10/2007 23:39

Glad to provide some entertainment

18m-3y just about covers it CS

EachPeachPearMum · 18/10/2007 23:39

18m? wow- is that with a 'bed guard' thingy though?

Jas · 18/10/2007 23:40

Winson Green, then Balsall Heath
