teabag007 · 17/10/2007 12:17

thanks everyone for suggestions

i think i will give dh motivational kick this afternoon to sort his photos and get passport application underway.....and then I'll get myself and dd sorted...and do some internet research on flights and visas....

daisy, when are you off on your hols?

dogtanian · 17/10/2007 12:27

Oh shit!

I've got no food in the house and dp has gone to work with the p&t in the car! I could go to the shop with dd walking, but I really don't think I could face it! She will run out into the middle of the road if I let go of her for a second. I guess I'm going to have to make something random for lunch...oven chips anyone?!

teabag007 · 17/10/2007 12:32

lol holly, oven chips sounds great
i went down the road this morning, half dressed, dd over shoulder, for urgent toilet paper shopping...

IwansMam · 17/10/2007 12:48

Hello

Teabag, love the image of the shopping trip. We've used Airline Network and Opodo to get cheap flights to Australia. You need to keep checking because sometimes the cheap flights are there and sometimes not.

HellHathNoFury · 17/10/2007 12:54

what is 'cheap'??

justbeme · 17/10/2007 12:56

afternoon!
all this talk about holidays
Hope Foxy and DS are ok.

Question for you -
I got a text from ex last nite re DD1:
his sis wants to take her to spain next yr - so can i pay half?
Ive already said i'd pay half for school trip - but I only work 15hrs pw and prob wont go back til may. Also, I never asked him to pay when i took her abroad 4 times. AIBU?
The thing is, i cant win cos if i say no, it'll be "you cant go cos mum wont pay".

justbeme · 17/10/2007 13:22

OMG!!!! Do I get the prize for the most explosive nappy????

As I finished that last post L decided to let rip - I thought that the smell was strong coming out of her washable nappy ....
Look away if eating lunch

It was up her back, in between my inner thighs and a big pool all over my computer chair!!!!
Can you visualise me walking up stairs trying not to drip up the stair carpet............

Who says SAHM have it easy?

OOOOhhh its put me right off my coronation chicken sandwich now.

HellHathNoFury · 17/10/2007 13:26

GROSS

bless their little gifts to us

riabutterflew · 17/10/2007 13:30

yuk jmb. baggins did that to me once. no advice re DD as I'll say the wrong thing, but I don't think yabu.

I have just walked out of work in tears as DS`1 committed another offence and the head told me what he'd done, so I cried.

DH has rung to make an appointment to see her and the teacher, and she said "how is your wife, I didn't realise she got so upset about his bahaviour". Of course I don't because I didn't bother bringing him up to be well behaved and well mannered, and of course I'm proud of him for getting into fights. silly cow. she suggested we take him to the Drs re his anger - what can they do?

rant over, for now

HellHathNoFury · 17/10/2007 13:32

Ria that sucks
What is your work again?

Also JBM I am with Ria. Not sure what to say about your situation never having been in it... and I wouldn't know what to do either! But no YANBU. I hope you find a way forward with it that works out ok.

justbeme · 17/10/2007 13:33

Oh sorry to hear that Ria

upsyderlor · 17/10/2007 13:40

He's out and is OK, thanks for thinking of us x
I've texted back to say everyone been asking for him this am and i'd let you all know.
TA - have a ((((((((((hug)))))))))) my lovely and kick that little plooky (practically still a teenager) cheeky boy you work with xx
Had a read back and WTF is the banana thing you were talking about?????
Daisy, shame you're not nearer me, we need a structural engineer to come and assess our house prior to our extension plans being approved.
very of all your Australian travel talk this am.....i wanna go TOOOOOOOO!
pissed i missed Spooks last nigh i LOVE Rupert thingamigig that programme.
We just got sky HD installed this am - DH ranting on about the amazing picture quality (on the 4 channels or whatever no. it is that it actually works on) - personally i don't see the difference but i'm just aggreing to keep him hapy
well sun is shining so i'm off to hoover out my car as it started raining yesterday and i never got round to it..

upsyderlor · 17/10/2007 13:45

oh Ria, poor you
i have no real advice i'm afraid, i don't know what i'd do in your situation. but please keep chatting and sounding off on here for support xxxxxx
just a thought - would he speak to a counsellor maybe???

IamDaisy · 17/10/2007 13:46

teabag, we're off tomorrow

glad the op went well for foxy's ds, poor love. It was horrible when my ds was pu under. They tried to give him IV anaesthetic, but couldn't get a line in so had to give him gas through a mask. I had to hold him down and he was screaming "no mummy no"....it still brings tears to my eyes thinking about it

Banana Hunt. Ria linked it last night....it's keeping the engineer in me very happy

justbeme · 17/10/2007 13:47

im off to baby group now catch up later (dont be too chatty tho!)

IamDaisy · 17/10/2007 13:49

sorry ria i missed your post

poor you. I wish i had some advice. maybe it would be good for him to see a counsellor and get some advice on how to control/deflect his anger.

upsyderlor · 17/10/2007 13:53

yippee i got 46 bananas - i'm on FIRE!!!!!!!!!

HellHathNoFury · 17/10/2007 13:59

I have 1 on my desk? slightly green

IwansMam · 17/10/2007 14:05

Um - I got no bananas!?!

If the q re cheap flights was for me then we got ours for around £550 each inc taxes both times. These weren't the cheapest but they suited us the best and were about £250 - £300 cheaper then the next flights. I think there were some around £400 - £450 but either times or destination wasn't right (we were very time constrained). We flew Singapore both times.

HellHathNoFury · 17/10/2007 14:27

ok just so I know what to look for when we go! When I looked it was more.

IwansMam · 17/10/2007 14:37

I think it varies a lot with time of year. Also check the same web-site over a few days. When we went to book last time our flight was there when I wanted to book, weren't there once DP had got arse into gear and ok'd flights were out-laws (cue lots of muttering from me ) and back again the next day.

IwansMam · 17/10/2007 14:37

We went Nov/Dec first time and March/April second time

teabag007 · 17/10/2007 14:38

hello again, hope we're all ok

fury, i reckon we're going to have to pay about 8-900 squids each for all the way to hobart, so am hoping to find anything under that really if poss. would like to stop at melbourne to see friends and via singapore to say hello to brother so that will limit us.
thanks iwansmam, will try them out

jb, i don't think YABU not wanting to pay for hols which ex wants to arrange - as you say, you've paid for your own hols. boo for nappy, sounds impressive. I'm soooo glad dd was in her moses basket and not on me or out when she did her madras nappy (foolish of me i know but i couldn't resist)

ria, sorry to hear about your day, you rant away all you like. how old is ds1? maybe there is some anger management therapy available if that is a problem? not sure what to advise as no experience myself...

daisy, have a great holiday

derlor, thanks for letting us know about foxy and ds, glad to hear they're doing ok.

HellHathNoFury · 17/10/2007 14:46

lol Madras Nappy

mmm I want a madras now

teabag007 · 17/10/2007 14:55

IM - are you married to an aussie as well? are you one (forgive my forwardness) and welcome by the way, i'm also pretty new to these parts......they are a lovely, mad, friendly and talky lot
