Need to vent some frustation about my boss
Hasn't been in touch with for 2 weeks since I sent him a letter stating when I would be returning to work. His last email to me included the words "things here not so good" So rang today to find out whats happening. He's not there, so asked the other admin staff what was happening, how was work etc (a bit of light hearted fishing iyswim) Gradually get around to finding out that business is not doing well (as I'd thought) he's laying off 2 labourers this week, and a big job he took on now looks like its made a loss.
When the sales manager asked if he should be looking for another job, he was told it might not be a bad idea!
Why hasn't he just told me what's been going on? Honestly. So

Sexonlegs · 15/10/2007 21:09

F&F, pmsl at the scrotum talk! Another word that I love!

Luce, I hope I haven't offended you after you gave me such a lovely hug. I have 2 glasses of vino collapso, and am a bit loose-tongued!

runnyhabbit · 15/10/2007 21:10

W has been in size 4 for a few weeks. He's 17lb 5oz and has the cutest, chubbiest bottom in the world

Sexonlegs · 15/10/2007 21:10

Oh Runny. Some bosses are shite at being honest and then it kicks them in the teeth as staff find out through the grapevine. Did you get my email btw?

Eddas · 15/10/2007 21:11

ah thanks LW, have watched a few but not really my thing.

Runny how helpful of your boss would be angry too. Is your job the sort of job you can get another of without too much trouble IYSWIM?

I'm not going to worry too much about ds and his little nuts sure he'll be fine

runnyhabbit · 15/10/2007 21:27

sol Yes I did get your e-mail. Thank you so much for your help with this
What is so fecking annoying is that I've been so upfront about nearly everything with him - he knew about me being pregnant before pil did! and anything that I've done/haven't done, I've told him.
As for getting another job - before I got this job (and pre-children) I have had career/responsible jobs, (customer service manager, sales support manager etc) but those sort of jobs are only full time, and I wanted part time. (plus didn't want the stress!) Some agencies said I was too over qualified for part time work
Not sure what to do now. Will call the office tomorrow when boss is in. Dh, bless him, says not to worry, we've got a few months left to think about it.

runnyhabbit · 15/10/2007 21:28

that sounded bigheaded about me looking for work - wasn't meant to

Sexonlegs · 15/10/2007 21:34

Runny, I don't think it sounded big headed at all.

Sadly part time jobs on the whole seem to be low skilled and low paid. It drives me mad. We as women spend years and lots of money on our education, and then, God forbid, we have children. Then when it comes to getting a part time job, all that hard work and money well spent goes out of the window.

runnyhabbit · 15/10/2007 21:35

I'm all alone... no-one to talk to..........its our 4th wedding anniversay today, and dh is away in Kent

runnyhabbit · 15/10/2007 21:36

I'm not alone

x-posts sol

Eddas · 15/10/2007 21:37

not big headed at all runny. when i left school and was looking for work was told lots of times i was overqualified even though i only had alevels but i think they say that as they think you'll get bored and leave soon. Just forget to mention some qualifications/experience if you want something different.

I was going to apply to supermarkets and was thinking i'd get turned away as I have accountancy qualifications. But luckly didn't need to go that route

DH is right though, you have a while to work things through. Hope your boss is more helpful tomorrow

Sexonlegs · 15/10/2007 21:37

Happy Anniversary Runny!!! Hope you are drinking champagne.

Eddas · 15/10/2007 21:38

Happy anniversary, where in kent? that's where I am

nappynuttynormabutty · 15/10/2007 21:38

I'm here, I got distracted by nappies

I know what you mean about part-time work. The kind of job I used to have would only really be available part-time. That's why I'm doing some more studying so it'll give me a better chance of getting a part-time job iyswim.

nappynuttynormabutty · 15/10/2007 21:39

Oh and Happy Anniversary!

runnyhabbit · 15/10/2007 21:40

Dh is on his way to Deal (I think!)

Thank you for the anniversary wishes - no champagne, but do have chocolate cake in fridge

Eddas · 15/10/2007 21:41

you, nappies, never

I guess I should be very thankful that my job is ok done part time then by the sound of it. It's easily done in term time only too. Hoping to become self employed by the time ds is at school so it all fits in around them grand plans but will mean lots of hard work(less mn) whilst they are little and still work part time we'll see

Lucewitch · 15/10/2007 21:41

Happy Anniversary Runny

runnyhabbit · 15/10/2007 21:43

Have you seen that advert on the side? For cosmetic surgery? Just what you want to see when you've got a 6mth old and are struggling to fit into things!

Things like this don't normally bother me, but tonight, well...

Eddas · 15/10/2007 21:43

Don't really know Deal at all!

Right off to bed ladies, sweet dreams

runnyhabbit · 15/10/2007 21:43

bugger, its changed

runnyhabbit · 15/10/2007 21:44

I'm going to go and have my chocolate cake and cream and then go to bed.

Eddas · 15/10/2007 21:45

Sexonlegs · 15/10/2007 21:48

Night Eddas and Runny. Going to bed soon. Have managed to fall out with dh. Lack of communication over something as he is so effing busy. He is on a course this week and catching up with real work from home in the evenings
