Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsSlocomb · 11/11/2007 13:38

Same here snoosnoo, I can't imagine not having a kid at home. I need a project....

Poppy's party went well. We had it in one of those huge soft play areas. But it is in Lewes so it is posh and there is no argey bargey (honest!) obviously posh enough for Heather Mills McCartney who was there with her daughter (not a poppy's party though ). She's a very thin woman, looked as hard as nails, scary.
One more birthday to do this year, that's dd3 3 days before xmas, but she's not having a party, so that's me done for another year (Ronnie's not having one either!!!!!

Piffle, so glad you've reached a compromise, get your bargaining gloves on now.....

Piffle · 11/11/2007 16:18

Happy Birthday poppy, glad the party was good fun - not sure how I feel about HMM to be fair, but not quite as keen to see her hang as many are

Bella, am so sorry to hear Kate the cute is still so poorly - dd had bronchiolitis as an older baby and is was ghastly to watch . she was put under obs for pneumonia overngiht as hard to tell the difference with the heaving chest. I hope Kate improves tonight...

Man I have had one hectic day
Freecycled loads of stuff all gone I have space in my dining room and am eying up table locally to fill it, rather than acres of kids toys which used to occupy the room.

And clearing it ready for decorating
Yippee!!!!

Right must go kids need
bathing feeding and mothering
PHEW
I have earned myself a beer I think

Evenhope · 11/11/2007 17:10

Snap Snoo- my grandpa would have been 101 today!

kiwi sorry Kate is still ill. Must be a worry

piffle that house is lovely. Hope you can talk DH round.

DeathBySnooSnoo · 11/11/2007 21:16

bella-i hope kate is feeling better soon.

kitty-glad the party went well.lol@ HMM being there.you should have asked her to autograph a copy of the mail on sunday, then put it up for auction on netmums

suppose i better go and read the thread where i have slagged somebody off to high heaven...

kiwibella · 11/11/2007 21:42

I don't know how much longer I can take it... I am listening to Kate screaming while her papa tries to settle her in bed. She is soooo tired and will nuzzle in to our shoulder and give every sign that she is sleepy but she protests when we put her down. She won't take any medication orally. Hubs and I end up arguing because he is almost restraining her while holding her nose!! If we manage to get any meds in her, she immediately vomits it, and the entire contents of her belly, right back up. Poor thing has even coughed so hard that she has made herself vomit. I just want to sleep after so many broken nights - but there is nowhere to escape (without leaving the house!).

Piffle · 11/11/2007 21:45

bella, have you done the steam shower, dd was dreaful but in the dark with the steam she used to nod off
We then raised her cot legs, and laid her on her tummy to sleep
We also found out later that ventolin via a spacer helped to stop prolonged attacks, and dd is not an asthmatic at all...
Wishing you some peace for Kate, really feel for you it's awful

DeathBySnooSnoo · 11/11/2007 21:59

yes,i put a pillow under one end of dd2's cot matress when she was still poorly,it did help.ditto the steam.

have you been back to the doctor with her?she may need an inhaler for a few weeks,again,dd2 had one when she was in hospital and again when she had another chest infection(although she wouldnt have it as she went mad with me putting the mask near her face).

what about junior disprol, can you still get that?soluble infant paracetamol.dd1 didnt like calpol so i used to give her that in with some juice.

Rosylily · 12/11/2007 07:30

Kiwi, you poor things, I hope things have improved now with Kate and that you all got some sleep, that sounds hard going.

MrsSlocomb · 12/11/2007 07:57

Kiwiw so for you and kate. I ditto everything said here. Hope she gets better REALLY soon.

bethoo · 12/11/2007 12:35

kiwi - hope the little one gets well soon.

Shanks - congratulations, i do not know if i said that before! were you bf when you conceived? is this your second or third little one? i am envious.

hope you all had a good weekend.

fitfox · 12/11/2007 14:32

Hi just lurking and reading your news - no time to chat - back later

MrsSlocomb · 12/11/2007 16:05

this is funny

kiwibella · 12/11/2007 20:09

thanks for your comments after my rant last night! Sometimes it is so difficult to know what these littlies want.

Kate had a better day today and two really good sleeps. I went to work and hubs stayed home . We took her to the doctors tonight who seemed to think she was doing ok. We should expect her cough to linger for awhile longer. She was prescribed an asthma inhaler and mask on Friday and that does seem to have helped to relieve her breathing. Like your dd, Piffle, it is not something that she will need long-term.

After lots of tears, I have managed to get a few mls of medised in her tonight... we'll see how it goes. She is still cocooned in her natures nest (hammock) so I'm not going to start jigging with the arrangement!

Piffle... any news about your house??

Hope everyone is doing ok

Evenhope · 12/11/2007 21:41

Went to DD1's graduation on Saturday. On the way a pheasant flew up from nowhere and crashed into the side of the car, knocking the wing mirror out. The garage can fix it tomorrow... £230

The previous weekend we went on a uni visit and my car got a puncture in a tyre new in June. £75

Always when we've got no money. I'm frightened to leave the house now.

Piffle · 13/11/2007 09:54

Bella we found the inhale a lifeline and still use one now when dd has that sort of cough
Glad she seems to be settling and you're getting a break.
Evenhope it's the never rains but it pours theory DP got hit by a pheasant on his motorbike at 60mph once, threw him off and left him with a pheasant shaped bruise
Man was he sooo soo lucky that time it was an empty road at 6pm
Now we hate pheasants

Diva at the advice!

I have a newborn baby again
7pm
8.30
10.30
1.30
4.50 up for an hour
7.00am
also dd woke up barely breathing and minus a voice at 10pm as she had sung her voice out being Mary in nativity practice and think she inflamed her larynx - she is fine after anti inflammatory ibuprofen, but is one very croaky Mary today and under orders not to sing loudly.

ahhh the house, am doing some research about a few things, and we might make a really cheeky offer once we get some costs back.

Kitty that link WAS BRILL!!!! Am going to send it to all my FB so apologies if anyone gets it again

fitfox · 13/11/2007 13:40

Piffle I hate peasants too

MrsSlocomb · 13/11/2007 18:15

Can you eat them?

Piffle · 13/11/2007 19:55

mmm down with the peasants to then

Arghhh am certain Finn is getting more teeth, just wish I knew where, the little * will not let anything near his mouth that isn't his finger or a spoon coverd in something soft
He cannot even eat a soft boiled spud which normally he loves
Worst of all his breastfeeding is woeful he has only had 2 good boob feeds today, so looks like I'll be up another night making up for it...
Groan I already look 50, by tomorrow it'll be 75 and dp is back from Turkey and will think I've missed him
anyway ....
off to do some urgent things

DeathBySnooSnoo · 13/11/2007 20:58

i believe posh people eat pheasant?i know that there is(or used to be)an bylaw in essex stating that if you knocked one down you weren't allowed to pick it up,as they are so dozy and just wander out in front of cars and people used to knock them down accidentally-on-purpose.people used to go for sunday afternoon drives in groups, knocking them down then the ones behind would pick them up.

piffle-i hope finn gets his teeth soon.

dd1 presented me with another tooth this morning.i felt like saying to her 'do you know how many nights' sleep that damn thing cost me?then you just go and pull it out!'

bella-glad to hear kate is on the up.

another funny video...i WILL plug those earphones in tonight.

Mossy · 14/11/2007 08:46

Oh I didn't know there was a law against eating peasants!

Sorry been off awol for a bit (although have been on FB).

Kiwibella hope little Kate is better soon; it's horrible when they're ill.

MrsS - love your new name!!

Snoosnoo, lol at auctioning copy of daily mail on Netmums

Got good news here... dh has become a totally changed person since he's been off work / been on the ADs. Sadly his eye is pretty much better now (I know that sounds a weird thing to say) so at the end of this sick note he will have to go back.

He has been putting Bertie to bed, having him sleep on him in the rocking chair in the day, even doing house-y stuff like the washing, the other day he bleached the shower (I didn't even know he was aware these sorts of things actually got done!) and ... well there have been improvements to other areas of our relationship as well (it only took six months )

And yesterday he said, "you know I can see why people have more than one" and then later on that evening said, "I do think one day when we've more money we should get a loft extension just in case we have any more..."

This from the guy who categorically said he did not want any more children ever after this one and was even thinking of taking decisive action to make this happen...

Hope everyone who I've not spoken to on FB is also doing well..........

OP posts:
Rosylily · 14/11/2007 09:41

Good news Mossy. In hindsight 6 months is such a short time and looks like your dh is realising that the difficult bits don't last and bring rewards in the long run.

Where has Dolly got to anyone know? Was she away? I hope alls well.

Kiwi how is Kate doing now?

Evenhope -much sympathy on the car costing a fortune front.

It is a crazy day here. Chucking down and there's been an accident and the traffic was backed up and I was even later than usual getting dd to school.
Ds2 wants to stay in now so not sure I'll make it out into the real world this morning....and I've got 10 games of scrabble to attend to

fitfox · 14/11/2007 10:25

Peasants in this country tend to have too much fat on them - obesity epidemic.

I wish I coukld chang my DH's personality with some medication sometimes Mossy - glad your DH is feeling a lot better

Pifle how is your DD today?

Hi everyone

well we have a new lodger - after much activity here (viewings) and I am going to treat myself to a cleaner out of the income

muppetisacat · 14/11/2007 10:56

hello to everyone...

... hugs to all with sleepless nights... I'm right there with you all!

Is Samuel the only one who still has no teeth??? Not even the slightest sign of any Do they make dentures for babies?

Piffle · 14/11/2007 11:04

Mossy men get so much more out of babies when the incessant feeding and squalling calms down.
Dp and I have an agreement - unspoken pretty much, I do everything for Finn while dp helps with everything else.
When I needed his help with Finn I ask him directly
This saves much confusion.
Muppet, you watch he is going to get his first 8 teeth all at once, saving you weeks of teething waking nights mine always drag it out over years

Finn was a bit better last night, the calpol worked. so last night went
bed at 7pm
8.30 feed (as he refused to feed at 7pm)
11pm feed
2am feed
(5am dd comes in needing the loo and coughing)
woke him at 7.15 for school run etc.

DD is fine, bit croaky she has proper voice strain, the pressures of being the leading lady in the nativity... apparently she has pissed off many girls getting chosen... oh well

MrsSlocomb · 14/11/2007 14:32

Piffle, I bet you are really proud of your dd. Hvae you seen her in action yet?

Muppet, Ronnie has no teeth, nor any signs of any. I love my little gummy boy!

Excellent news on the lodger foxy and even better, a cleaner, hoorah!!

Mossy, fantastic that things with you dh have improved, let's hope it stays good once he's back to work.

No hint of any saucy action here. I reckon dp's todger has fallen off
