QUICK QUESTION FOR THE BOY MUMMIES...

Do I need to do anything (wash etc) with C's {{{{whispers}}}} foreskin? (Sorry if anyone is eating) I asked the midwife in the hospital and she said to leave it... but I was wondering what age it needs to be "tended to" in order to prevent..well cheese???

PillockInThePumpkin · 04/10/2007 16:33

DON'T touch it GMM, not for years and years and years, in fact, not until he's big enough to wash it himself.

Hello all

Had a text from Captain Dippy

'op went really well, anaesthetic was extremely traumatic and it broke my heart to hear her screaming when she came round from the anaesthetic. She's dozing on and off now, still pretty upset. Eye bloodshot, but looks good'

geordiemacmummy · 04/10/2007 17:17

Someone is looking for dippy on the sales boards?

busywithIzzy · 04/10/2007 17:32

Have text Dippy to see if she wants me to reply on the for sale thread

ARGH having told dh ages ago the tumble drier wasn't working right (makes kitchen all steamy so it's not going out of the vent properly) and he didn't believe me...today he says it's not working right and is damagin the worktop.

eLviRaMistressOfDarkness · 04/10/2007 18:46

Exciting! SIL has been in hospital since 4am apparently she's in proper labour. ILs in Northumberland are tearing their hair out as they've not heard anything since then. We told them to ring the hospital if they're worried (SIL in London) but panicking MIL says she can't remeber name of hospital. We're pretty sure it's all ok. BIL would have called if anything was wrong.

geordiemacmummy · 04/10/2007 19:01

Leaky - you got any plans for a week day visit to the NE before xmas? Must try and get something organised for a wee meet-up!!

MurderousMaveta · 04/10/2007 19:03

ooh leaky - easy quick labour vibes to your sil. um well I guess it´s too late for quick but let´s amend that to - relatively painless! let us know!

Aw dippy, that must have been really hard, thank goodness it´s all over and done with now and no doubt she´ll forget all about it in no time x

Nutty at your dh - oh well if the maaaaaan sees it´s not working then it absolutely definitely must not be working mine would be the same..

oooggs - yuck at cracked tooth! [eek]

Mammyjo, you´ve done brilliantly getting to 6 months, I think if you feel it´s time then it´s the right time, whenever that is. I know that´s not really that helpful but it´s the truth!

Had a very dramatic/busy early evening. The sky was looking like threatening rain but didn´t think much of it and headed out to see my parents anyway (whats a bit of rain?). While at their house the electricity went off (pretty common here when there´s a bit of a storm) so I decided to head on back to mine. It is about 10mins walk between our houses so off I toddle (luckily had raincover on the pram) and as I get to the Plaza the sky seems to be darkening, and darkening and sound getting all muffled and starting to think ..hmmmm.. then the wind starts really picking up and a woman comes out to close up her doors and says ´what´s all this about´ (looking at the sky). Hmmmmm.. get the the square and a guy comes running out a bar to take down the umbrellas that are outside. I start pushing N faster (am about 300 metres from home). Wind getting stronger and stronger so I´m starting to feel a leeeeeetle bit worried, looking around and thinking ´wow this is the kind of wind that would pick things up and throw them about. hmm.. that´s a scary thought, what if they hit the pram?´ just as I thought that a few chairs that are sitting outside a bar are literally picked up and thrown down the road a few feet in front of us. Well I shat it and started running and then the (very cute) pharmacist came running out of the pharmacy and shouted us to get in, picked up the entire pram and ran inside with it!!!!!!!!! As soon as we got in it just absolutely chucked it down. Chucked it down does not even describe it. It was like a hurricane or something, I mean the rain was going sideways, properly sideways and the wind was so strong they had to look the door of the pharmacy because it was blowing it open.

It was really freaky. Everyone was totally stunned and a woman burst in that had run about 3 feet from her car and she was totally soaked from head to toe. So weird. Lasted about 20mins and then eased off so I headed home, got totally soaked in the 200metres that was left to go and got home to both my bathrooms flooded with water. Lots of mopping and cleaning and

BREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEATHE.

Man alive, I´m knackered.

MurderousMaveta · 04/10/2007 19:05

oh yeah and when i finally got hold of dh (all mobile phones lost coverage for the duration) he said he´d had to sit in the car for 10mins before he could get out and when he did several trees in the street had been blown down!!

And now... nothing.. it´s not even raining..

MurderousMaveta · 04/10/2007 19:13

oh anyway in other news... I have a really sore breast, can anyone advise? Yesterday as you may remember I left my breast pump at work and when I got home N had been fed so by the time I gave him a wee bedtime top up at 7pm they´d been full since 12.30pm! He didn´t even nearly empty them but they were comfortable enough. In the night he fed a couple of times but nothing major. This morning my right breast was really full and tender, now I´ve been trying to feed him off it all day but the top part still feels firm and tender. Should I be worried? Should I do anything? It´s not firm like rock hard just as in if it was really full of milk, but it´s just the top part, not the whole breast...

WestCountryLass · 04/10/2007 20:06

You can get mastitis because of not draining the boob properly because of leaving it longer between feeds. When he feeds the next time off that boob, gently massage that area in the direction of the flow of milk. I would also lie down and feed with the babies lying over your shoulder so the bottom of his mouth and tongue are sucking in the area where the soreness is.

eLviRaMistressOfDarkness · 04/10/2007 20:11

Ooh Maveta that weather sounds scary!! No breast advice unfortunately.

DOUBLE EXCITEMENT 3 fireman and a fire engine have just been round to do my free home fire safety check. One of them was very hunky (flashback to Jackie mag circa 1988 with use of word hunky) unfortunately DH was home so I couldn't ogle too much.

GMM I'm up there every few weeks at mo with poorly grandparents and stressed out mam. Next definite dates are 7,8,9 November but there will be others I'm sure.

Sexonlegs · 04/10/2007 20:23

Hiya loves

CD, glad the op went ok, and hope that dd makes a speedy recovery. Big hugs to the both of you.

Maveta, blimey, sounds mad weather. Glad you got home in one piece.

Leaky, hadn't realised your dh was an HR Manager too. You should get him on MN dealing with all the employment queries!

IDOB, how is your dh??

Well, today went ok, and K in bed by 7.00 and B in bed by 7.45, so not too bad. Both of them seem to be on the mend too.

Hope everyone is ok. x

tcmummy · 04/10/2007 20:56

Maveta - Keep feeding him on that side (express the other for a few feeds). Massage with a warm flannel as you feed. It does sound like you could develop mastitis if it progresses. Hopefully you'll feed through it.

at the wierd weather!!! Sounds like something off a film!

Dippy - hope dd's ok. Sounds horrible. Was thinking of you today xx

Hi everyone else!

Had a lovely but busy day here today. Met a lovely mummy friend for lunch. Also went to clinic T now weighs 20lb6oz! Little porker!!

I finally got the party invites done (my b-day&T's thanksgiving) and can you believe there's a flippin post strike! Gutted! Hope they don't get lost in the chaos.

oooggs · 04/10/2007 21:00

tcmummy - when was T born?

oooggs · 04/10/2007 21:09

tcmummy = eca?????????

eLviRaMistressOfDarkness · 04/10/2007 21:15

Had news from ILs about 30 mins ago. Our niece Eva Rose was born around 4pm today, however there were some problems and she is now in intensive care. SIL has been in labour since yesterday and went in at 4am. She as monitored closely but all seemed to be going well until it seemed the baby's head got stuck. They gave SIL an episiotomy then realised the baby was not breathing she was quickly delivered and resuscitated and is now in NICU. ILs were sketchy about details but said the staff were being positive and that Eva has been moving around and pulling off the wires attached to her.

I feel sick and am trying to be positive for DH who is very worried for his sister.

Someone reassure me please. LO was delivered at 41 weeks and is a good weight 8lbs something.

oooggs · 04/10/2007 21:18

lesley thinking of your sil and little niece - keep us informed - positive vibes heading your way

weepotion · 04/10/2007 21:22
