My darling boy's birthday today

We gave him a Fisher Price Little People garage as his main present, which he loves, as well as loads of Bob the Builder trucks and Thomas the tank engine bits.

He's currently having a nap, then we're having a little birthday tea later.

A good day SM x

Oh was there an Earthquake?

Have just looked on the news, there was no earthquake here. Was wondering for a minute there if I had actually slept through it!!

Johnny's sleeping was pants again last night. Woke at 4.30am, DH managed to settle him. But then he woke again at 5am coughing and spluttering and all croupy. Cue Mummy and Johnny in the spare bed feeding until 7.30am. We are supposed to be feeding LESS not more!! We were at toddler and now he's running about daft in the garden, so I'm guessing there's nothing much wrong with him!

stinkymalinki · 02/03/2008 17:58

Tis very quiet on here at the moment - i hope everyone is ok?

Well, DH has finally had his ECHO, and thankfully the damage to his heart is quite minimal at this stage (phew!), so they will just monitor things and see how he goes - no need for drugs or anything yet. Still no clue as to how he's got the LVH in the first place, as its certainly not common in 40 year old men, but at least we can stop worrying that its advanced and therefore very serious!

I had to laugh the other day - Joey came home from Nursery clutching a school report It didn't say much, other than that he's settled well, but we did have a chuckle thinking it should say "reading-unable, writing-minimal, mainly scribbles, speech-not much...must try harder"

Take care All, SM x

aw that is good news SM!! Must be a huge weight off your minds knowing were you stand iyswim!
lol at Joeys school report!!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO EVERYONE!!!

Had a nice family day today which was lovely. Still suffering with the ms and am 18 weeks today so I am hoping to bloom sometime before this little one is born!

Better go as my tea is ready (toasted muffins and either lemon curd or pickled onions not sure which yet!)

mawbroon · 03/03/2008 10:03

LOL at school report stinky! Glad to hear that you finally have some answers about your dh and that it's not too bad. I always think that it's easier when you know exactly what you are dealing with rather than having to guess what's going on because if you are anything like me, my imagination can run riot sometimes!

YF - yuk to ms. How long did you have it with Thomas? Mine stopped at 16 weeks with Johnny, I remember it was like somebody turning off a switch!

Johnny still isn't 100%, he has a snottery nose and still has a nasty cough. We are trying naps every couple of days or so, as well as catnaps andit's making no difference but then that could be because he's not well. I have to chant - he will sleep through one day, he will sleep through one day......

Yokefleet · 03/03/2008 10:22

MB, with Thomas I didn't have a lot of sickness mainly nausea up til about 20 weeks I think. I am just hoping that I feel human again soon!! lol Thomas has started with snotty nose again today only been clear of it for a few days! so I hope that Johnny is feeling better soon too. re the naps, Thomas didn't have one Saturday as we went to a party and he didn't have one yesterday as we had family down but it didn't affect his sleep at all, he was still distrubed through both nights waking earlier then usual.

mawbroon · 04/03/2008 19:24

Oh I see, are you talking actually being sick YF? I never once threw up with Johnny but so many times I felt very very close!

Johnny and I went a big adventure all over town on the bus today. He really enjoyed it, but he conked out on the sofa at 4.30pm and is still up! He was a complete disaster when he woke up and was completely inconsolable. DH wanted to ignore him "oh he's just looking for attention" but I just couldn't, he was so distressed. He seems ok now though and will only be 45 mins or so late in bed which isn't the end of the world.

Yokefleet · 05/03/2008 08:20

MB, hope that Johnny settled for you in the end last night. Re sickness, yes still being sick most days I thought the nausea was bad with Thomas but this time has been far worse!

Hope everyone is well.

How is the little one doing DLAMIS?

mawbroon · 05/03/2008 22:27

He slept all night YF for the first time in ages! I think my answer is to drag him out of the house for hours and hours every day!

I am making a real effort to use the car less with a view to maybe getting rid of it (we have two) so Johnny and I have been walking lots and getting the bus. How far are your LOs walking? Johnny insists that he wants to walk, and then 10 yards later wants carried. I am fine with him in the backpack still, so it's not a problem to carry him when we are out and about, but I think he should be walking more. Mind you, it's good exercise for me. I walked all over today carrying him and then DH and I went for a 5.5 mile walk into town and back this evening. I'm just off to bed to collapse with exhaustion now.

Yokefleet · 06/03/2008 08:08

Great news MB!! did he manage it again last night? (fingers crossed!) I don't know how far Thomas walks really!! if we are going into town I always automatically put him in the pram! easier for me!!! He can walk a good way on the beach but take him to pick my niece up from school and he will want to be carried so its a hard one! I'm trying to avoid carrying were ever possible with him at the min as his knees sticking in my belly are making me sore!

mawbroon · 06/03/2008 09:27

Yes, YF - he did. From 7pm until 6.45am. I think the answer is to go out most of the day so he is exhausted!! I haven't used the car all week and we are getting on just fine with walking and using the bus and I am guessing that this is making him very tired.

Johnny can walk for miles if we are somewhere fun like the zoo or the beach, but if it's A-B walking then he just isn't interested. Sounds like Thomas is maybe a bit similar.

I have been getting lots of enquiries re the childminding, but still have only had one mindee so far, but his mum has brought him back another three times to me, so she must think I'm ok! I guess the nature of doing short term/emergency cover is going to be like that and I think many of my enquiries have been from people looking for permenant places.

Yokefleet · 06/03/2008 11:25

aw that is great MB, well done Johnny!! re the walking yep it sounds like our two little boys are very similar!! Good news too about the returning mindee.

Thomas has had a cold for a few days so last night when he slept through I was hoping he was going to be better today but when we went into him this morning his cotbed sheet was covered in blood! Thomas had had a nose bleed sometime in the night. Not a nice sight first thing in the morning, was so relieved when we relised it was his nose!

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 06/03/2008 11:36

Evelyn is rarely in her pushchair now, she just doesn't like being in it! We go to town on a Saturday and dont take the pushchair, she just walks holding our hands. We walk to the bus in the morning and then from a stop a little bit up the road to the childminders house, and back again in the afternoon.

stinkymalinki · 06/03/2008 13:22

When he wants to, Joey will walk a good few miles or so (maybe more if we're doing something he wants to do!), but if he's in 'awkward mode' he wants picking up every 5 minutes! Sounds like he's not alone in doing that

Just found out this morning that a good friend is having an ectopic pregnancy She was so excited to be expecting (it would have been her first baby, long time TTC etc), but had been having pain and bleeding on and off since the weekend so they scanned her today and found it is in the wrong place. I think she's being operated on this afternoon, but i gather they've already told her she will most likely lose a fallopian tube as it was quite advanced. Very sad.

OP posts:
Yokefleet · 06/03/2008 18:46

oh no SM that is awful, the week after I told work I was pg with Tom, my friend at work was taken to hospital with an ectopic pg she didn't know she was expecting though. I felt so guilty and she also had to cancel her wedding abroad a couple weeks later because she wasn't allowed to fly etc

mawbroon · 07/03/2008 21:20

How sad for your friend Stinky. It must be hard when that happens.

Johnny slipped and fell in the bath last night and landed on one of his stacking cups. He had a red circle on his bum/leg and today he has a black and blue circle on his bum/legs. He wasn't too upset by it, so this perfectly circular bruise is quite funny really.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 08/03/2008 08:49

Slight disaster this week, on Wed the Cm called my parents (who were picking her up that day) to say that Evelyn wasn't very well, she hadn't been sick she just wasn't herself, and had already slept for three hours and wanted more. So mum went to pick her up. She parked outside the house (on a really steep hill) and she and my sister went into the house. They were laughing and joking and when my sister went out to put the car seat in the car, the car wasnt there. It had rolled down the hill and hit a lady who was walking down the hill on the way to pick her children up from school. My mum was really shook up, luckily the woman didnt appear to be too injured, they called for an ambulance and the police arrived, my mums car was impounded.
They got the car back yesterday, there was nothing mechanically wrong with the car so the insurance company is happy (which I think means my mum would be covered should this woman sue?) and we think the woman is okay.
Just a slight disaster! That night Evelyn threw up Exorcist style as well, so we were off on Thursday together, where she was right as rain and spent the day bouncing off the walls

Yokefleet · 08/03/2008 21:27

OMG ELF!! What a shock! So glad that everyone was ok and that your mums insurance will cover. Good that Evie was ok for you too.
Thomas is still coughing really bad at the min and had an earache this morning I think as he was tugging at his ear gave him some Calpol which seemed to help with his ear. Will have to take him to the Drs though if he isn't right on monday.
We have my niece overnight tonight so I think I will be off to bed very soon as she will be up earlier then I want to be up in the morning!! lol

DontlookatmeImshy · 08/03/2008 21:55

MB - Ds went through a stage of the unconsolable crying after a nap when he was starting to give it up.

He's another one who will walk miles if he's in the right mood but if he's not then we get no-where.

Ds2 is doing really well. He has put on over a lb now. I can't believe he is nearly 4 weeks old now. It's gone so quickly. He's feeding every 2 hours so nights are a bit tiring, although co-sleeping helps. I just roll him over to the other side, latch him on and nod-off again. Wish I'd done that with ds1. Fortunately ds1's night wandering have stopped now we're getting a bit more settled.

They both have a cold at the moment. Suppose it was inevitable at this time of year once we started going out and about and mixing with ds1's friends again. They both fell asleep on my knee this afternoon. It was really sweet, but it was a good job i didn't need to get up to go to the loo

mawbroon · 09/03/2008 19:13

DLAMIS - glad to hear that your new ds is doing so well! Re the co sleeping, are you able to just roll over a bit more so that he gets the top boob when you are in bed? I discovered this months and months down the line with Johnny, but perhaps he would have been too small, or my boobs the wrong size or something to have done it when he was new. Johnny's hysterics just seemed to be a one off. We had been out for hours and he was particularly tired and hungry that day I think.

YF - poor wee Thomas with his ear infection. I hope he gets over it soon. Your doc will probably trot out the standard NHS line of "I'm happy to give you antibiotics however you must be aware that they probably won't make a lot of difference"...

Elf - thank goodness there was no serious damage done with your Mum's car rolling down the hill. My handbrake is a bit dodgy and I have a block of wood in the boot to shove under the wheel should I have to park on a hill. I don't even want to imagine what could happen if the car rolled away.

DH and I were out last night and didn't get to bed until 1am. We were at a friends house for dinner and so ate much later (and much more!) than normal that it didn't make for a great night's sleep for either of us. Then, Johnny woke at bloody 4.45am and I managed to keep him in bed cuddling and feeding until about 7am when DH took over. Later in the morning, Johnny came asking for milk, so the two of us went back to bed. Bliss...

Yokefleet · 09/03/2008 20:45

Hope the little ones are feeling better soon DLAMIS, I can't believe its 4 weeks either, the weeks are really flying past now xxx

MB- Thomas seemed much better today and I don't think his ear is a problem thankfully as it takes ages to see a dr anyway!! It was my niece who kept us awake last night with her coughing and then I joined in at about 3.30am and made myself sick with it too! but we are both feeling much better now too!

Yokefleet · 12/03/2008 10:14

Hope everyone is well, I am getting ready for a trip to Cardiff to get some more maternity trousers and jeans as I am bursting out of mine now. Going to go for lunch at ikea too which Thomas will love as he loves the meat balls and their play area!

Hope you have a good day xxx

DontlookatmeImshy · 14/03/2008 17:01

Hope you managed to get some good maternity stuff YF. I never managed to find jeans that i didn't end up spending half my time pulling up again.

We are all suffering with colds here. Suppose thats what happens when you start venturing out into the world of toddler groups again. So ds1 is back to having a nap in the day and I finally managed to achieve the impossible and get them both to sleep at the same time so I could get some as well and can I sleep?? No prizes for guessing the correct answer

Yokefleet · 14/03/2008 17:13

oh no, I am amazed that you can't sleep DLAMIS, when Tom was new born I think I could have slept standing up! How is the little one doing hunni?

I managed to get some trousers but not jeans the other day but we are going up to Yorkshire for a family do at the end of the month so I think we will have a look whilst we are up there.

Thomas's speech seems so far behind the other kids at playgroup some boys who have just turned two were chattering away today and Thomas is still only saying odd words. The words are coming though so I know that it is just gonna take some time but he will get there x

DontlookatmeImshy · 15/03/2008 17:00

Little one doing fine thanks YF. Today was his official due date! Bit of an anti-climax really, must be a sign I've got over the shock of him coming so early

Still know what you mean about the speech. Ds1 is so far behind his peers. When the hv came to visit for ds2 she asked if we wanted to refer him to a SALT. I said yes because she said it could take about 10-12 weeks to get an appointment. I figured by that time he'd either be talking at last and if he wasn't i'd probbaly be starting to worry by then. If anything he seems to have gone backwards but that could possibly be put down to ds2's arrival.

MB - unfortunately i am now well enough endowed to be able to just roll over a little bit more. It would make life much easier.

Hope everyone else is ok.

DontlookatmeImshy · 15/03/2008 17:01

oops I meant not well endowed enough.
