My darling boy's birthday today

We gave him a Fisher Price Little People garage as his main present, which he loves, as well as loads of Bob the Builder trucks and Thomas the tank engine bits.

He's currently having a nap, then we're having a little birthday tea later.

We are going to see PS I love you, which I have just been told I am gonna need tissues for! oh dear I blub loads normally what the hell will I be like in my current state! lol and the 2 girls I am going with don't know I am pg yet so it could be fun! good job its dark in there me thinks!!

How did it go YF? Did Thomas cope without you?

Johnny is still under the weather today, as am I. It is getting very wearing indeed, I just want us both to be well!

Any others asserting their independence over which clothes they wear? If Johnny is given new clothes, he sometimes goes a bit funny when I try to put them on. We have a lovely shirt my parents bought him for Christmas and he says "no, no, no" and starts crying if I even mention that he might wear it. I don't give two hoots about what he wears, so I am just letting him choose when he is having one of these moments. He's not doing any of the other independence stuff though. He never ever climbs in or out of the car and still needs helped out over the front doorstep. He is showing no inclination to try to put on his coat or shoes or whatever.

He is too busy thinking about trucks and birds. The RSPB website is fantastic and he loves to hear all the different bird sounds on there. He also really liked it when I showed him Edinburgh on the map today. I wonder what it was he liked so much though, he can't possibly understand about maps, he just can't! Or can he?

Mawbroon, Alice is very fussy when it comes to clothes. I usually let her choose e.g. skirt or trousers then I choose something appropriate to go with it. But over Christmas we were visiting relatives who had given her pretty dresses and I wanted her to wear the right one to see the right people IYSWIM, and she threw some huge tantrums! In the spirit of not giving in to tantrums, I insisted she wore what I had chosen (they were dresses she was happy to wear at other times) and she was fine for a while, but every time she looked down at the dress she would start screaming again. After an hour or so she realised it was a no-win situation and has been less inclined to argue with me about clothes since then.

On the plus side, Alice has now decided to use the potty . As soon as I put her back into pull up nappies, she started insiting on using the potty as she didn't want to wet herself. Now her favourite trick is to call out just after she has been put to bed insisting that she needs a poo (having done one 20 minutes earlier). After 10 minutes with no success I try to put her back to bed but she tells me she will do a poo in her pyjamas so she goes back on the potty. She has spent the best part of an hour doing this the last 2 nights! She eventually manages to squeeze out a few drops of wee. I think I am being taken advantage of!

She sounds like one fiercely determined little lady Ponto!!

Johnny is mostly easy come easy go, but when he gets a bee in his bonnet about something then he digs his heels in. Luckily, it's not happened very often that he digs his heels in.... yet! And it's normally about something so trivial that I am happy to let go.

Haven't given the potty training much more thought, although Johnny does come to me now to tell me when he wants a new nappy. Very handy seeing I haven't been able to smell a thing for over a week now!

I had a lovely night thank you MB, Thomas was a star for daddy which was great news!!

Thomas just wears what I put on him at the minute but with when it comes to trying to get a coat on him I have to chase him around the house!!

Sounds like Alice is enjoying the potty training now Ponto!! oh dear, we are still a long way off I think, Thomas tells me when he has poo'd though.

Well I had my scan today and there is only one baby in there! and they have dated me at 11+5 which means my due date is 3/8/8. I forgot how bad it was having to have such a full bladder for the scan! I was sure I was gonna wet myself!! not fun! ah well

Evelyn is a feisty little madame. If she wants something, she's very vocal (we were lying on my bed this evening and she said "I want my flower pillow mummy" which is her pillow from her bed. I let her choose between two tops or trousers to go with what I have picked, and she always picks her pants and socks. This morning she went to the CM in her peppa pig slippers because she didn't want to wear her shoes until they went to school to drop off the other kids.
Fair nuff!
She picks her plate for dinner, the cup she wants her juice in, she'll get her own knife and fork and spoon... I like that she knows what she wants but she can be stroppy if she doesn't get her own way! It will bite me in the ass when she gets older, I can see it now

Evelyn also does the whole "need a wee/poo" when trying to get to sleep - the other day I had to pratically westle her to the floor to get her to have her nappy back on!!

I'm glad to hear that your scan was fine YF. That date isn't too far off what you reckoned yourself isn't it? Glad too that Thomas behaved himself for his daddy. It will (hopefully) make you a bit less worried about leaving him again. My first thought when I found out that I was pg, was "oh no, I'll have to leave Johnny overnight when I am in hospital!" I've still never left him with anyone else overnight.

Any improvement with your health Elf, or are you still struggling?

Not much doing here. Went to Ikea this morning with MIL and one of the other grandchildren. She is really soft! Johnny gets to sit on the Thomas the tank engine ride when we come out if he has done good behaviour. I don't put any money in it though, do I heck 50p a go!! Anyway, not only did MIL put money in the Thomas ride, she then paid for them to go on the extortionately overpriced carousel there. I fear I will be pestered re this on every subsequent visit and will have to be the big bad mummy

MB - the mws had me down for the 14th July which I new was gonna be too early but tbh I must admit I felt a little disappointed to not have got to the 12 week mark! only a couple of days off it but I was hoping to be 13 weeks really!! ah well
We told my niece yesterday who is 4 and this morning she said to be that I had to be careful what I ate as I didn't want it to hit the baby on the head and mess up its hair!! bless her!

Yokefleet - glad your scan went ok! Will you be finding out 'what flavour' baby you're having, or having a wonderful surprise at the end?

Well i had a lovely weekend away in London with my sister to celebrate my going back to work last week! We stayed in a posh hotel for the 2 nights, and saw Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat and Dirty Dancing. They were both absolutely amazing! Well recommended, as was the mooch round Covent Garden market on Saturday afternoon! I did really miss Joey though - it was the longest i've ever been away from him. Mind you, i gather from DH that he didn't even notice i was gone!

We didn't find out the sex of Thomas at the scan and have decided that we would like another suprise again so we will argue about names for another 7 months yet!!

Sounds like you had a lovely time Stinky! must confess that musical theatre isn't my cup of tea, but saying that, I've never been, so perhaps I would actually enjoy it if I ever gave it a chance!

Johnny seems to be over this cold/ear infection thing that we have both had. Lucky him! I have been ill for almost a fortnight and still have muffled ears which is most annoying. He just astonished me a few minutes ago, he was playing by himself next to me in the kitchen and talking and singing away. The next thing I heard was "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10"! Bloody hell, where did he learn that? Wasn't me that taught him it.

Oh woe is me

I am still suffering from this bloody ear infection. I think Johnny might have it too, he has been acting quite ill and clingy for a while and he keeps falling over!! I am guessing that he's either having balance problems from his ears, or his brain hasn't caught up with the huge growth spurt that he appears to have had, and doesn't know where his feet are!!

Well done Johnny on his counting!! that is fab! I always count as we walk down stairs etc and it used to sound like Thomas was making all the right kind of sounds but now every single step is nine!

I have just read your thread and can't believe how bad the care sounds! If you knew what was wrong you wouldn't have been there!
As you said the AB's can't hurt and you don't want to risk any future fertility problems. Hope that you get some answers in the end. How are your ears today?

Not much happening here except Thomas is saying more words every week now, this morning he said Claire which is my sisters name and I whoppped for joy when he said it and scared the poor lad to tears! bless him. I took him to the local soft play yesterday for the first time in ages and I couldn't believe how much he has grown all the things that he could reach and climb on yesterday really suprised me (and him!) and we had a great time, got to remember not to leave it so long next time

Ewwwwwwwww, Evelyn has just thrown up EVERYWHERE! Our bed is covered in sick, I was covered, and we actually threw out her PJ's seeing as there was not one speck of un-sicked fabric (she was growing out of them to be fair!).

Oh no Elf. Yuk. Is she doing any better today? I don't think Johnny has been sick since around June for which I am very grateful. And of course, as they get bigger, their stomach holds more to chuck up.......and clean up.

I went along to the first meeting of our Bestbuddies peer to peer breastfeeding support group. They were just telling us a bit about it and figuring out the best time to hold the training sessions. I am quite looking forward to doing my bit to help new mums. I wonder if I will learn anything about breastfeeding that I haven't already learned from tiktok and hunker & co There were about 5 or so other kids there and Johnny had a whale of a time playing with them

Things down below seem a bit better since I got the antibiotics from the hospital. Hopefully that's the end of it and we can get on with ttc again once my body decides to get back into action fertility wise. DH's work are sending him away several times over the next few weeks. What's the betting that it all coincides with my ovulation

Aren't toddlers strange. Johnny is the boy who gets all agitated if as much as one drop of water splashes on him at tea time. Yet, this morning, he was out "helping" me wash the windows and was soaked from head to toe whilst declaring "cleaning is great fun"

Train them early, that's what I say....

Hope eveyone is fine, it's gone a bit quiet on here.

MB - do you want to send Johnny my way (please pretty please!!) I can't see out of my windows they are that bad!! Paul promised he was going to do them at the weekend but its Monday and I still can't see!! lol

Thomas is making me laugh at the minute as he is saying two words that I have no idea what he is meaning! This morning it was something like "elleoooo" we were watching a programme with an elephant so I said elephant and he said no and just keeps repeating it, I named just about everything in my bedroom this morning but got NO to everything!! I can't wait to find out what it is!! the other one is d d door I thaught it was close the door but apparently not!
Apart from that new words are coming thick and fast the lastest being tissue!

I wonder if you will learn anything new too MB at the support group!

Right well I am going to get off now as I have put Thomas down for his nap and I need one too!

Great to hear that Thomas is doing well with the speaking YF. I am sure he will be fluent in no time, it seems to happen so quickly once they get the hang of it. Johnny spent a long time only saying the main words in a sentence (eg Johnny clean windows) but now he is starting to add in the little words too (eg Johnny helping mummy clean the windows)

I have had my first phone call re the childminding - yipee. Not bad considering I only starting giving out fliers and business cards last week.

I'm allowed to look after 6 in total YF (including Johnny). This is further divided into no more than 3 under school age and only 1 under 12 months.

However, I am setting up doing short term and emergency type care, so some days I will have none and other days may be full - who knows! I am only having parents book time up to a month ahead rather than take them on open ended contracts. I feel it would be unfair to lead a parent to believe that I can mind their child long term and then have to let them go if/when I became pregnant again, or rather too pregnant to childmind any more. As long as I average enough each week to qualify for maternity benefit, then I'll be happy.

Been to my slimming/exercise class this morning and had to dash out just before the end as I over heated. The instructor knows I am pg but she looks everso worried everytime I go as I am looking very grey in the face at the moment! I just wanna bloom!! lol x
