Hi all

As I’m rubbish and keep double posting I thought I’d start a new thread as we’re nearly at 1k.
I don’t have all of the OG’s so apologies for anyone I miss or anyone I miss in general (blaming lack of coffee this morning!!)

MrsEG · 06/07/2020 18:40

@MrsR16 Ahh he is gorgeous, that big smile! We’re the same you know, Calpol is a daily occurrence at the moment. They both have runny noses, Conor has a cough and they’re both teething - it’s the perfect storm! Conor in particular has been a real grumpy today. Ahhhh - babies haha!

ELW85 · 06/07/2020 18:41

@MrsEG - ah thank you! Definitely get your mum over for support. It’s hard enough with one, so definitely necessary with two!

@MrsR16 - teething and the regression sound challenging but look how gorgeous he is! And I can’t believe he’s 7 months, that’s insane!
Should we take out shares in Calpol? 😂

Ok weird question and I don’t even know how to describe it, but Finn’s babbling has changed.
When he’s lying down (cot etc) his ‘words’ are still crystal clear like ‘agooo’ and stuff but when he’s sat up on my knee (winding, for example), it sounds like his words are through a load of saliva and almost sound muted.
It’s been like that for about a week now and I thought it would go away but it hasn’t.
I’d put it down to a leap but he sounds normal when he’s on his back? Any ideas?

OP posts:
MrsEG · 06/07/2020 18:49

@ELW85 Both boys went through what I called their ‘gargle’ phase where when they were being verbal it sounded like they were gargling water. It especially happened if they were trying to laugh. It’s just all part and parcel of them finding their voices. This was about 3-4 months ish for the boys? In the last 2 weeks now they’ve both REALLY found their voices too so all the practice paid off! Weirdly, they’re totally different too. Conor has decided he likes to just shriek and scream whereas Ruairí is more of a loud grunter!!

ELW85 · 06/07/2020 19:25

@MrsEG - yes!! He’s nearly 4 months?! He sounds normal lying down but sat upright it’s like he’s trying to blow raspberries and his noises are like gargles. How odd!

OP posts:
MrsEG · 06/07/2020 20:13

@ELW85 yep! Could be the onset of teething too (sorry!) - Ruairí developed so so much drool he’d gargle and cough on it. Now he just lets it aaallllllll dribble right out!

MrsR16 · 06/07/2020 22:25

@MrsEG I think we're finally out the other end of this lot of teething! He's been better today and is eating more like normal with his temperature back down to normal too 😊 2 teeth in 3 days is enough to make anyone grumpy!!

@ELW85 We'd be millionaires 😂 I think @MrsEG is right with possible teething... Ethan's drool has been awful! He frequently chokes on his own saliva! However, he's finally stopped dribbling as much today! There is an end!!

TrashKitten10 · 07/07/2020 11:00

Free to a good home:

8 month old baby. Very clean (rubs her sick into the carpet to save you a job), very skilled wrestler (especially when covered in poo and trying to escape the changing mat) and can service radiators (or at least bang them loudly with a wooden hammer, fiddle with the knobs and use them as a climbing frame)

Any takers? :)

MrsR16 · 07/07/2020 11:15

@TrashKitten10 oh dear, Daisy!! You guys sound like you're having lots of fun at the moment 😂

ELW85 · 07/07/2020 12:07

Afternoon

I’m still a bit concerned about Finn; he’s been chewing his tongue loads and his talking is almost either congested or like he’s sucking his bottom lip in. It’s so weird. It probably is developmental but I’m just not sure.
He’s stopped talking as much as he was too.

@MrsR16 - I’m pleased you’ve turned a corner with Ethan! Grumpy babies are hard to deal with!

@TrashKitten10 - you genuinely made me lol at your post! Daaiiiiisssyyyy...give mama a break, eh?!

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 07/07/2020 12:41

@ELW85 if you're concerned, I'd call your HV (depending on how useful they are!) they might just be able to set your mind at rest 😊 Ethan doesn't tend to chat as much as he did a few weeks ago, but I'm sure with everything else going on, talking was the least of his worries! 😂

ELW85 · 07/07/2020 12:44

@MrsR16 - you’re right but I think I’ll call the docs. HV is beyond shocking!
It’s probably his infection bless him, but I want to be sure.

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 07/07/2020 13:17

@ELW85 I think you're sensible!! I wish I could just go and see my HV at the weigh in clinic... it would make life 10x easier!

TrashKitten10 · 07/07/2020 13:40

@MrsR16 Yes fun is one word for it! I'm exhausted today 😩😂

@ELW85 She does at least sleep well, which I count my blessings for as the child doesn't stop moving for one second of her waking hours! Give the doctors a call if you're worried. As much as a lot of us have had gargly sounding babies, I think a mothers instinct counts for a lot and if it doesn't feel right then it's always good to ask someone. Daisy makes a gargling noise when she's playing with sounds . She also sometimes sicks up in her mouth, gargles it happily then swallows it again. Disgusting child 🥴

To anybody on the road towards weaning: Grapefruit PSA. Please note that when it makes impact with the clumsy hands of a small child, grapefruit takes on the properties of Pyrex and shatters into a million tiny grapefruit shards which you will then try to remove from the nooks and crannies of your high chair/kitchen/child's neck folds for the rest of your life. Just a heads up.

PippaPug · 07/07/2020 13:45

@MrsEG - Your boys look very cute as Woody and Buzz! How are you getting on?

@ELW85 - if your worried please contact your Doctor, they will help put your mind at ease I’m sure! How is Finn doing now?

@MrsR16 - We are all good thank you, how are you two getting on?

The boys are 4.5 months and pretty chilled (most of the time!) they are really smiley and love music and pretty much anything that make a sound 💙 The boys are still on antibiotics (been on them since birth) and kidneys haven’t improved so far (the boys take being a twin very seriously so both their left kidney doesn’t drain the urine fully) so waiting to hear from the doctor for the next steps which we take for them But I’m trying to be positive about it all ☺️

@TrashKitten10 Daisy sounds tons of fun. Very "spirited" as my mum would say. I've got a feeling Esme is going to be very similar 😂😂.

@ELW85 Definitely call someone if you're worried. Esme I think is just a week older than Finn and for the past week has been doing lots of sucking in her bottom lip when"chatting". A sort of vvvuuuuh vuuuu noise. Blowing bubbles ++++ too. I think it's all developmental especially with the sleep regression too. She's also trying to crawl and getting very frustrated at the lack of forward motion!

We've just had our 16 week imms here. Glad they're over for a while. DH or my mum c as n taker her for the next lot 😂😂. She was so good though. Currently enjoying snoozy cuddles on my chest after a big feed🥰

Also she's an absolute giant! Here she is with my mum walking 😂😂

Ahh cross post @PippaPug
What gorgeous boys! You're doing such a brilliant job! Hopefully they'll have a treatment plan in place soon xx

MrsR16 · 07/07/2020 14:00

@TrashKitten10 note taken re: grapefruit!! 😂

@PippaPug omg look at your two boys!! 😍 they're absolutely adorable! Sorry to hear they're still having issues with a kidney a piece... 🤦‍♀️ they're going to be all about sharing aren't they? We're doing ok thanks. Epically struggling with teeth/sleep regression/god knows what else, but we're alright 😊

@LikeTheFruit oh, doesn't Esme look cute!! Enjoy those snoozy cuddles... they're the best!

MrsEG · 07/07/2020 14:06

@LikeTheFruit They’re just awful aren’t they! I have to listen to two sets of yelps haha! She is an absolute darling, she looks fantastic for 16 weeks!! Enjoy your snoozy afternoon of cuddles :)

@PippaPug Ahh I had absolutely no idea the boys have been unwell - have they given any indication as to the issue or what the next steps might be? They ate utterly scrumptious!! How are you getting on otherwise? Bloody hard work two babies, isn’t it?!? We are doing fine, teething at the moment and Conor has reflux I sometimes struggle to manage but otherwise all good!

@TrashKitten10 LOLd so much at your message haha, sick in the carpet!! And the grapefruit... I dread the mess from two high chairs so much!! This week the boys are both showing signs of being ready for food but I’m like no no, let’s give them another week, let’s just be completely sure haha!!

@ELW85 Like everyone else has said, I’m sure it’s developmental but it’s always worth the call anyway! Hope they can help!

@MrsR16 two teeth at once!! What a little champ! How is he doing now?

I had some really hideous news this week; an old friend went for her 12-week scan (alone, still no partners allowed) and her baby had died at 7 weeks; she had had a 6-week viability scan. They wouldn’t let her husband come in to the hospital so she dealt with it all completely alone; had to go out to him in the car to tell him herself. It feels almost inhumane - I cant believe it’s happened to her, my heart breaks for her. Gave the boys an extra long squeeze this morning.

How’s everyone feeling at the moment as lockdown is easing? I feel really uneasy, and I can’t really explain it. It’s like I’m safe inside my own four walls and I don’t want anything to change - whilst simultaneously wanting everything to go back to normal?!

MrsR16 · 07/07/2020 14:15

@MrsEG he's not doing too badly! Still not sleeping wonderfully at night, which means he's napping lots during the day... 🤦‍♀️ I don't have the heart to wake him up though! It's a vicious circle - sleeps rubbish at night, naps well the next day to make up for it, then sleeps rubbish that night! 😂 I can't win at the moment! That's awful about your friend... you wouldn't wish that on anyone at all! I can't wait to get back to normal, but I'm a little apprehensive! I've decided that I'm taking a month more maternity leave than I planned, meaning I'll have no income for a month... scares me, but I'm applying for a job at the moment and it could change my whole situation!

ELW85 · 07/07/2020 15:13

Thanks all! I think being permanently tired doesn’t help my logic. Called the docs and I have to call back tomorrow for a phone assessment.
However @LikeTheFruit - that is EXACTLY what I’m talking about! A ‘vuuu’ thing (I’ve been studying him today and he’s 💯 sucking his bottom lip in to do it).
How’s Esme and the regression?
She’s gorgeous and looks so determined!!
I think we’re both on leap 4 now? Finn was a week late so probably tie in with adjusted ages!

@PippaPug - the boys are beautiful! I had no idea they were still on meds. I hope you’re all doing well!
Finn’s ok thanks; having a very sleepy and hungry day which I think is both leap and infection related, bless him.

@MrsEG - I’m with you on the COVID stuff. I went for a walk with my friend the other day and she was like “oh it’ll be fine, it’ll just be like enhanced security since 9/11; you won’t remember how life was before all of this soon, it’ll be normal” and I just don’t want to have all of this extra virus stress, figuring out how to not die stuff going on. Can we just go back to how things were?!?

DH’s work are shocking.
Basically, we told them Finn was getting tested for COVID so that DH would have to isolate for that day only until the results were back.
They told him it was company policy that even if a member of your household has tested positive, you must physically go to work unless you test positive. I pointed out it was against everything ever....their written GUIDANCE follows NHS/gvmt requirements but what the staff are being told to do is different. Awful!
That’s 7000 people spreading COVID then...

Oh @ELW85 you poor thing sounds like you've had a rough few days. Really hope Finn is ok and you of course.

@MrsEG How are you and your gorgeous boys? I take my hat off to you and @PippaPug raising twins!
Agree what has happened to your friend sounds totally horrific so so sad. My absolute fear of a MMC and then being alone just awful.

@MrsR16 how is Ethan 7 months old?! Where has that time gone?! He is simply yummy

@TrashKitten10 haha oh Daisy are you testing your poor mummy?!

@PippaPug really hope your boys are ok they are such happy looking little chaps!

@LikeTheFruit oh my Esme is such a beautiful girl!

Well Charlotte has had a couple of rough days - tummy ache/growth spurt/leap combination of everything probably. We've had our first smiles which was totally amazing! ❤️ she's making more noises and finding her little voice.
8 weeks tomorrow where has that gone?! Finally got an appointment to have her registered - in August! She will be 12 weeks old when she's registered.
Dairy free is going ok and I do notice a difference with her reflux and unsettledness if I've had any dairy. She's just about 10lb now (7lb 4 at birth) hard to be accurate as our scales don't settle with her weight and HV won't weigh her.

Have to say starting to struggle with lockdown I need to see people and have physical contact with my family. My anxiety hasn't been great but slowly getting there. It's just such an odd time to have a baby, I feel a bit sad the end of my pregnancy I didn't get to do any of the fun things i had planned (baby shower, seeing friends, mummy to be spa day nothing major) but we will get there and our safety and health is the most important thing.

Wow that turned into an epic post so sorry! My gorgeous girls first smiles pics attached 💞

@Trashkitten10 8 months is a right age isn't it. Freddie is 8 months now. I spend all day chasing him around telling him no. He shakes his head back at me but continues doing the naughty thing 😂 I'm knackered!!! Haha.

Hope your all well ladies. Will catch up when Freddie sleeps otherwise I'm just stopping him eating dog food every 10 seconds.

Hi all, so sorry I've not been on for a while, time keeps getting away from me this week!

@ELW85, I'm so relieved Finn got a negative result, but what a shambles your dhs workplace sounds! It actually sounds very similar to my dhs employer, terrible attitude towards taking precautions. How is Finn today? And how are you? Xx

@MrsEG, I had a little cry about your friend, bless her, it's awful enough under 'normal' circumstances but having to hear the news alone and tell her partner... There is a thread on aibu, about how partners can't come to scans but pubs are open and some of the replies make me so angry. People don't understand it's not just 'seeing the baby' it is finding out if all is OK and when it isn't, women should have support! Anyway, sorry to ramble... How are you and the boys? Xx

@TrashKitten10, omg your post made me cackle! I think Joe will be trouble as he gets bigger.... We can't leave him to sit now, he keeps proper lurching around, trying to crawl / move around any way he can but can't manage it yet, just ends up in a little heap! And he's SO LOUD 😂 Daisy sounds like adorable mischief! Xx

@MrsR16, how's Ethan? I love the pic of him in his Sunday best 🙂

Well ladies it's my birthday today, 32! Having a lazy morning as Joe woke every 2 hours and was wide awake at 5.30,he is napping now and I'm in bed! Seeing my parents and bro and sil this afternoon for cake and dh has got us asda pizzas, my favourite 😋 Had some lovely cards, some cash, chocolates and some books so feeling very lucky.

Here is Joe after his lunch the other day, looking very relaxed! 😂

How's everyone today? Xx

@thumper59, Aaahh Freddie!! He sounds like a handful... I think Joe will be following our car around once he gets going! The only times he's bothered to roll back to front have been once to try and grab a TV control and twice to get a better view of what Maximo the cat is up to 😂
