Hi all

As I’m rubbish and keep double posting I thought I’d start a new thread as we’re nearly at 1k.
I don’t have all of the OG’s so apologies for anyone I miss or anyone I miss in general (blaming lack of coffee this morning!!)

Morning ladies
Will catch up properly later but does anyone have any experience with eczema with their babies? GP confirmed it with Ruairí about two weeks ago and we use an emollient but he had such a terrible flare up yesterday afternoon, it was so irritated and he was so miserable. He’s scratched at it too and it’s bled. I’m calling the GP again when they open but I know dermatology isn’t a strong point with GPs so don’t know whether I should be pushing for a referral, allergy testing, etc - fell in to a bit of a google wormhole!

Fivebyfive2 · 03/07/2020 08:47

@MrsEG, my nct friend has a baby with bad eczema, I'll ask her what they use. Xx

@ELW85, oh no! Plenty of chocolate for you today xx

@MrsR16, ooohh Ethan and his chompers! Hopefully he'll be a bit better now they've pushed through?? Totally get why you'd take a photo, I'll be doing the same when it happens! Xx

Joe had another good night! 8.30 till 12.30 then 12.45 till 4.15...4.30 till 5.30 then wide awake doing raspberries. He's just up from his early morning nap. I think last night was the best night we've had for literally over a month, I just hope it keeps going 🤞

We had fun at the zoo yesterday, although Joe preferred people watching. It was great to see him looking around though 🙂

MrsR16 · 03/07/2020 09:06

@MrsEG oh no! Poor little Ruarí... I have no experience personally, so can't help!

@Fivebyfive2 Ethan has his worst night in his nearly 7 months ever! He was constantly crying, whinging, generally really unhappy 😴 I think I was rocking him more than I slept! He's had a mammoth 2 and a half hour nap this morning so I'm desperately hoping he's happier now - I can't deal with another pants day... I'm so glad Joe's doing ok and loved his people watching at the zoo yesterday! 😊

@MrsEG - we’re in the eczema boat with Finn. Using hydromol through the day and after the bath and have a really weak hydrocortisone cream. GP is going to look at CMPA (as I’ve been saying all the f’ing time with his reflux) if it doesn’t clear up.

@Fivebyfive2 - yes!! Why, after 4am are they up hourly?! This is Finn constantly at the moment.

Was anyone else’s baba obsessed with kicking their legs about the place? When he’s beside me in the Snuzpod it’s the one thing he does consistently; legs in the air (kicking vertically). Can’t tell if it’s frustration at being awake/in a swaddle or developmental?

@MrsEG Dex has had some eczema, was fairly bad at one point. Luckily we got a GP who suffers from eczema himself so I guess he had a fairly good understanding of it. He said that it can take several tries to find an emollient or ointment that works well, should try one for 2 weeks then go back for another if there isn't significant improvement. We have cetraben, has worked really well for Dex. We also have the hydrocortisone cream, GP said that is only needed when the area of eczema thickens and starts to feel leathery. We haven't had to use it for Dex as the emollient has sorted him out.

GP also said that something like 90‰ of babies suffer from eczema to some degree and most will grow out of it. Avoid bubble bath and other potential irritants.

Hi all! Happy Weekend 🎉

It's been a tough day! Started really well, Joe had a decent early morning nap then actually enjoyed his bath and some playtime after. Then went downhill... Fought the next nap, even in the buggy, but seemed OK after. Dhs parents came over, all going well until Joe started getting tired/fretful; tried a few things, took him upstairs to feed and chill and then back downstairs. Dh was hinting for at least 30 mins that we should try and get him to sleep etc unti he basically had to ask them to leave!! Joe then had about 40 mins restless sleep before we gave up and took him downstairs and he had some cauliflower and cheese (which he actually loved!!) All OK, got him cleaned up, he had a wriggle around and we read to him, put his music on etc. Took him to bed just before 7, he conked out about 7.15, then woke up screaming blue murder 30 mins later (just as we were dishing up tea!!) I had to have him on me while I ate and have just got him back down. I'm just staying in bed now with chocolate and my phone, I'm knackered!! Dh is catching up on The Last Of Us 2. Hopefully Joe is settled now 🤞

Here he is after his dinner, the mucky pup 😛

Hello everyone,
How is everyone getting on? I always think about coming on but I seem to get so distracted by something!
How’s all the babies getting on?

ELW85 · 04/07/2020 11:19

Morning all

Massive anxiety today as DH has Finn on his own for a while as I’m at the hairdressers ahead of our photos getting done tomorrow. It’s all gone quiet so I think he’s taken him out in the car to get him to sleep. I’m SO nervous...

No idea what’s going on with Finn but he’s gone from sleeping through to continuing this 3 hours, 2 hours, 2 hours stints. It must be developmental? Surely?
Thought I’d nailed the feed to sleep stuff but that’s out the window by the looks of it. All about survival al the moment. He’s started taking a dummy (fingers crossed it continues?) that would really help with the independent sleep I think.

@Fivebyfive2 - but look at his gorgeous little mucky face! How are you feeling?

@PippaPug - nice to hear from you! How are you doing? Finn is 14 weeks today and just a little beauty 💙

Ha ladies!

@ELW85 @stormtrooperjulian thanks both - the GP was absolutely wonderful in the end; she said it’s just a bad flare up so now we’re on the look out for triggers and I’m almost sure it’s detergent and it was basically vest shaped! We two emollients and steroid cream for the flare ups now and he seems happier. She seemed fairly happy it was eczema and not an allergy as his milk hasn’t changed and the dog has always lived here! So I’m just keep an eye on it, and rewashing all of his clothes 😫

@ELW85 Finn will be fine! DH took the boys away when they were a month old (ugh!) so I could get my hair done, he just took them out to meet some friends. I felt so sick when he left I had a glass of wine before I left the house!! I’ve since had some advice I stick to which is that you have to remember DH is his own parent and will have his own ways and means of doing things and you just have to let him be the dad that he is. DH used to have a go at me for ‘policing’ him around the boys and he’s right, I would - so I leave him to it now. It’s tough but also nice seeing him grow in to his new role!! Yes Ruairí fell out of his swing on his watch once haha but no harm done and he’ll never forget to buckle him in again!!! Enjoy your shoot tomorrow!

@PippaPug Hello! How are you getting on?

@Fivebyfive2 I hope Joe is doing better today!

@MrsR16 Has ethans sleep gotten any better?

The boys are 5 months old today! I can’t believe it. It’s felt like an age and gone so fast all at once. They had a shocking nights sleep last night, both of them, but Conor has gone up to 6-9 clothes now as well as Ruairí so I think a growth spurt just might be irritating them. All I know is I saw 3, 4, 5.. the things we do haha!

Me and DH are going to brave a local coffee shop in a while and just see what the craic is. The whole ‘super Saturday’ thing makes me slightly nervous though I have to say, just the idea that pubs are open... how is that safe?! But maybe that’s me being a big fat killjoy!

Here’s the boys all dressed up for their 5-month birthday haha. I can’t believe I’ll be weaning them in a month!

ELW85 · 04/07/2020 18:31

@MrsEG - happy birthday boys! They are SO cute; their little personalities shining through 💙
How was the coffee shop?
There were people in Newcastle queuing up for the pub at 8.30am so we’re all fucked to be blunt. Absolutely horrendous.
To be fair DH said to me this morning before I left your have to let me learn’ and I know that’s right.
Everything went fine until I was 3 mins from home and I get a call - all I can hear is Finn screaming and DH shouting “he’s going mad and I don’t know what to do. If you’re telling me what to do I can’t hear you. You need to get home NOW”
I felt so helpless but luckily was around the corner. I got in and Finn was just massively over tired (car nap so DH didn’t know how long he’d slept), so I got him down in seconds. DH is now having a nap...
Not sure he realises that’s my life 24/7 and it’s my first break!
Pleased I went from platinum to balayage so it doesn’t need doing as much!!

Finn is 14 weeks today, and has suddenly started taking a dummy at sleep times and got himself to sleep with it at around 3am. I saw quite a few hours too sadly!

Hey ladies. Charlotte has her jabs on Friday any advice? I hear they can aggravate reflux which we've just started to do better with. I've been dairy feee for 4 weeks now and it's made a huge difference. Really notice if I eat anything with dairy in it now.

Saw my sister in law today they came up from Devon. First time they've met Charlotte was so lovely to see them. They sadly mc a few weeks ago just after Charlotte was born at around the 8 week mark. Having been through it my heart breaks for them.

@MrsEG the boys are just so cute!! And so big!
@ELW85 Finn looks so yummy in that babygrow!

Can't believe Charlotte is 7 weeks 4 days old now. We've had a couple of random good nights which throw me completely. She's a happy little thing and a proper daddy's girl but so am I!
Happy weekend ladies!
X

Fivebyfive2 · 05/07/2020 08:00

@MrsEG, omg the boys are adorable, little buzz and woody 😍

@ELW85, glad you all survived your first trip away from Finn, it will get better I'm sure, over time. How was he last night?

@MrsR16, how's Ethan doing? I'm starting to wonder if we're going through a similar thing with Joe, but not sure. The last couple of days he's been quite grumpy, not napping well at all. Yesterday he didn't even want much of his food and it felt like he wasn't feeding much from me, although he still had full nappies. I gave him calpol yesterday evening because he was just screaming... It didn't help him sleep much to be honest but he was calmer. We'll see how today goes...

MrsR16 · 05/07/2020 08:19

@MrsEG @Fivebyfive2 well, Friday night started to be just as bad as Thursday night! We offered absolutely everything and he still wasn't happy. We then pulled him into bed with us to just have 5 minutes without rocking him, and he fell asleep laid up on DH's pillow. We raised the head of his cot and he slept for the next 4 and a half hours after that in his cot, which was just wonderful! He's still not drinking as much as I'd expect from him, but we all have off days where we just don't feel like eating and I've still had an epic amount of dirty and wet nappies from him, so I think he's alright. He also started to get a temperature, but calpol seemed to help massively with that which is nice! He didn't do too badly last night which was also good 😊 he was awake early this morning though 😴😴 I was reading about a 7 month sleep regression so wondered if this was all tied in with what's going on!

@Fivebyfive2 Joe looks very pleased with himself after his dinner 😂

@PippaPug great to hear from you! How are you and the babies doing??

@ELW85 oh look at Finn's gorgeous little face! It's hard when DH doesn't seem to cope very well when they've only had the baby for a short while! At least you had some time to breathe and relax getting your hair done 😊

@MrsEG I can't even cope with your boys 😍 they're so cute!

@MrsH497 7 weeks already?!? Goodness me! With the jabs, just plan to not do very much for the rest of the day at least - cuddles and milk will be all she needs! Ethan slept more after his jabs but that was about the only side effect we had.

ELW85 · 05/07/2020 15:50

What a day.
In hospital with Finn as this is day two of random meltdowns. He’s got an upper respiratory tract infection and has just been swabbed for COVID. Can’t quite believe this is happening.
I now feel awful in case this is why he’s been waking more.

@MrsH497 - have calpol with you to give her before the jabs, whilst at the docs. Finn gets v sleepy after his.

I’ll read and reply properly later. Sorry guys my head is just up my arse atm.

Fivebyfive2 · 05/07/2020 17:16

@ELW85, don't feel bad sweet, it's almost impossible to tell at this age what is serious and what is just them being a baby I think! We took Joe to A&E a while back because he sounded wheezy and were pretty much told he was fine (had a cold) and got a few 'your first baby then' comments... But if we'd have left it we'd have felt awful, so it's sods law whatever you do, you feel like you're doing it wrong. But we are all just doing our best. Xxx

stormtrooperjulian · 05/07/2020 17:51

@MrsH497 hope the jabs go well! She might not be bothered at all, Dex only really reacted to his final set, had no noticeable reaction to the others. Why would they make reflux worse? Didn't affect Dex's reflux at all that I noticed. Don't watch her face while she has her jabs! I made that mistake and his sad little face made me cry.

@ELW85 oh poor Finn! I hope he feels better soon

ELW85 · 05/07/2020 19:11

@Fivebyfive2 - thank you. It’s a minefield! Just continue to keep doing our best xx

@stormtrooperjulian - thank you, me too!

So we’re discharged and get our Covid results tomorrow. Keep everything crossed for us.
I hope he has a peaceful night tonight; poor thing is exhausted.

@ELW85 how is Finn today? Hope you all slept well last night

ELW85 · 06/07/2020 13:21

@stormtrooperjulian - hiya! Thanks for checking in. He was spark out from 6.30 til after midnight last night; nothing would rouse him so I think he’s really putting his energy into fighting it off.
No word from the hospital so going to call them now.

And we got a negative!!
So relieved!

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 06/07/2020 14:06

@ELW85 that's wonderful news that you've tested negative!! And great for Finn of course 😊 I'm glad he had a solid few hours of sleep - he sounds like he really is fighting off whatever he's got, bless him.

stormtrooperjulian · 06/07/2020 14:45

@ELW85 ah great news that the test was negative! Sounds like he really needed that sleep, poor little guy

ELW85 · 06/07/2020 16:49

@MrsR16 @stormtrooperjulian - thanks ladies 😀 such a relief! He’s super sleepy again today and has just woken up screaming and squealing again bless him (not your usual “I’m not done sleeping yet” cry). Calpol time. Bless him 💙

OP posts:
MrsEG · 06/07/2020 17:22

@ELW85 Oh no, poor Finn! Hope he’s feeling better now. I had a similar experience to @Fivebyfive2 when I took Ruairí in once similar - I’d convinced myself he had bronchiolitis and got the ‘Are these your first babies line?’ It’s truly impossible to know if they’re okay or not! So you’re actually a fantastic mum for taking him in and checking him out! Great that Covid was negative too.

@MrsH497 Just take calpol with you for the imms and write the day off! For all three sets the boys were just tired, a bit grumpy, very clingy. Good luck with them - it’s worse for you than them!!

@MrsR16 Oh hun sounds like you’re having a nightmare time! There definitely is an 8-month regression so perhaps he’s hitting that early? How has he been doing since??

Afternoon ladies, my god I’m exhausted at the moment. I feel like all 5 months of the boys caught up with me the last few days! We’ve had quite a few nights of broken sleep this week too just with all the damn rolling around in their cots so I’m beyond tired. Considering having mum round for a day this week just so I can catch up with myself! DH is working so much now and two babies with only one pair of hands is just knackering me!
Hope everyone has a great week x

MrsR16 · 06/07/2020 18:01

@ELW85 I totally get where you're coming from with the "generally not feeling 100%" thing that our babies seem to be doing at the moment! I seem to be feeding Ethan calpol more than formula! 😂😂

@MrsEG it's not much fun! I'm putting it all down to teeth... he's popped another one today! 😍 he was awake at 2am this morning but I managed to get him resettled in 15 mins which was a bloody miracle! 😂 I hope it's the regression come early... I'm not sure I could cope with much worse!

Ethan is 7 months old today, ladies!! Where has the time gone?!? Here he is looking super cute yesterday!
