Hi all

As I’m rubbish and keep double posting I thought I’d start a new thread as we’re nearly at 1k.
I don’t have all of the OG’s so apologies for anyone I miss or anyone I miss in general (blaming lack of coffee this morning!!)

@TrashKitten10 hope work goes ok

@PippaPug your boys are gorgeous! Grown so much!

@MrsEG I totally agree with good old fresh air. We went to whipsnade took Charlotte for her first zoo trips on Wednesday and it was so good we did 10,000 steps walked for hours with her in the carrier (first time she's not screamed in it!) and the fresh air was just brilliant.

We tried her in the seat of her pram instead of the bassinet and she loved it my nosey little girl was much happier being able to look around.

Any teething tips ladies I think Charlotte is having a bit of tooth movement as I can't feel anything but she's doing a lot of classic teething behaviour poor thing.

Happy Friday!

Fivebyfive2 · 04/09/2020 06:35

@MrsH497, calpol and some nubby keys (put them in the fridge!) for Charlotte and lots of chocolate for you! Xx

ELW85 · 04/09/2020 15:03

Sorry for the absence guys just having a bit of a shit time of it at the moment.
He’s still not feeding properly and the Neurologist thinks he has a left hand preference so wants a physio referral. Unfortunately it’s a red flag for Cerebral Palsy so I’m back to feeling sick with worry again.

@MrsEG - EEG is Wednesday so not too long to wait now.

@TrashKitten10 - I hope work went well!

I’ll probably not be about much so apologies if I’ve missed anything, I’m just not in the head space to contribute much/happily. I know that’s really selfish.

I hope you all get on really well and the little ones continue to thrive.
I’ll update when I can xx

@ELW85 Aww not more worry :( Hope you get a referral through quickly. Things weren't as bad as you'd dreaded last time and I really hope it's the same with this concern. Try to enjoy your gorgeous boy in the meantime.

Thanks @MrsH497 @Fivebyfive2 @MrsEG for asking about work. I did go through the whole story on here before but I had my part time request refused so ended up having to find another job. Yesterday was therefore a bit of a double whammy of worry leaving Daisy all day and starting a completely new job. But it was fine. My new phase lead is a complete bitch (bellittled all of my suggestions and questions, offered no help or even a hello and didn't like it when I pointed out that she had three members of support staff helping her all day to get jobs done and I was left struggling on my own. Asked if I could please have some support as we were supposed to be a team and was told no). Literally ready to put in a complaint after one day. It was the most cliquey and uncomfortable atmosphere I've ever experienced. But my job share is lovely (if very beaten down by working under a complete bully). So I'm deciding to be positive and not let the bully win. I'm a really sensitive person and a bit of a walkover normally but I don't want to be like that anymore. I want to be an example to Daisy of how to be a good, kind, decent human but also strong and not take any messing. So we will see what happens next week :) Daisy was fine though and had a lovely day with daddy. It was so nice to get home and give her a big cuddle, made me appreciate her even more.

Has anyone got any experience of squints in babies? MIL noticed that Daisy has a bit of a turn in one eye in certain photos. I'd never noticed it but of course since she's mentioned it it's the only thing I notice! It's certainly not major but I wonder if she does have a slight squint at times. I'm going to call the HV next week but just wondered if anyone had any knowledge or experiences?

It's Fridayyyyy. What are everyone's plans for the weekend?

MrsH497 · 04/09/2020 21:28

@ELW85 sending love. I hope everything is ok. Xx

@TrashKitten10 DH is working so will just be a chilled one for me and Charlotte. I'm the same very sensitive so I understand how you feel and like you I want to be a good role model for Charlotte. Sounds like you've had a rough time with work xx

purplefig · 06/09/2020 10:23

@ELW85 huge big hugs bud ❤️ this will all pass my lovely. Try and soak up as much of his scrumminess as possible 💕

@TrashKitten10 mate you're absolutely smashing it as a role model, Daisy is so lucky to have you. I feel so similar in that I'm historically a bit of a people pleaser but since having M I'm compelled to model healthier behaviour. See also: body image insecurities.

@MrsEG omg you absolutely obliterated your challenge you warrior!!! So glad it's had a positive impact on your mental health too!

@PippaPug oh my look at them 😍

How're we all doing?? Quick q - when did you drop 3rd nap?? M is still waking up at 5am (4.40am today 🤪). Thinking of giving the 2-3-4 routine a go as mentioned by MrsEG and TrashKitten. Any success in lengthening sleep in time??? 6am would be legit bliss 😂

Fivebyfive2 · 06/09/2020 16:05

@ELW85, thinking of you and you get answers soon xx

@TrashKitten10, that's crap about the bullying, but sadly all to common in my experience of office work. I must admit when I had a boss like that I pretty much just tried to keep under the radar, but I totally get what you and the others mean about changing that attitude now.

@purplefig, we're kind of trying the 2,3,4 thing at the moment and actually managed it last night! It worked out pretty well, Joe did 7.15 until 5.45 with only 2 wakes (both 20 min feeds) which is amazing for him! Don't think we'll quite get there today though because his naps have been a bit out; he'll need a short nap soon to see him through and will probably go to bed about 8 I think. How's M doing with food, still loving it? Joe is a machine 😂

@MrsEG, how are you and the boys?
@MrsR16, how's Ethan doing, has he broken out of baby jail yet?! 😛

LokiCat · 06/09/2020 17:17

@PippaPug so lovely to hear from you, look at your boys! 😍 so happy to hear you're doing well

@MrsEG look at you smashing the challenge!! Well done!

@ELW85 thinking of you. Hope you and Finn are okay and get answers soon 💕

@TrashKitten10 sorry to hear about the team lead - I never understand bully's. You're a brilliant role model for Daisy, I'm sure. It must have been so lovely coming home to her, especially after a tough day at work!
Re squints - my mums a paediatrician, so when the convo about eyesight came up I asked in passing. She said it's always better to show a baby to an ophthalmologist at the hospital rather than an optician as they're better equipped to check babies eyesights. Going through a GP referral is best. I hope all is fine!

@purplefig ouch sorry about the early starts! I hope the routine works for you.

@Fivebyfive2 that sounds brilliant, go Joe! I hope that means his sleep is better at night again?

I think we're on the other side of the regression finally. Using shush/pat and a dummy to get her down - last two nights she's slept for a 3 and a half hour stretch, then I put her dummy in and she fell asleep straight away for another four hours before waking for a feed!! Thank you for the dummy tip MrsEG! Although last night she woke up at 5 after getting stuck sideways in her cot. I put her back and half hour later she did it again 🤦🏻‍♀️
I'm unfortunately still not sleeping as well, plus Alayna's longer stretches of sleep means I've been getting engorged boobs and even some blocked milk ducts 😭

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend 😊

Fivebyfive2 · 06/09/2020 20:48

@lokicat, I'm hoping we're getting somewhere with sleep, but it will probably all change soon 😂 Sorry to hear you're not sleeping. Could you try expressing just a tiny bit right before bed or even in the night, just enough to relieve the pressure a bit if she's not feeding as much overnight? Hopefully it becomes a regular thing and your supply will adjust though. I'm rather sad to say this isn't something I've really had to deal with as Joe still feeds on the regular each night at almost 9 months 😕

I don't want to log the thread with my outlaw drama again, but if anyone is interested, I made a thread on the parenting board, re childcare arrangements...

Here is Joe from Friday afternoon, looking very pleased with himself 😍

MrsR16 · 06/09/2020 22:11

Hey @Fivebyfive2 and all you lovelies!

Ethan hasn't quite broken out of baby jail yet 😂 he loves standing up though - he's getting great at pulling himself up and it scares the living daylights out of me! Joe looks very chuffed 😊

MrsEG · 07/09/2020 08:29

Morning all, hope everyone had a lovely weekend! We did a whole lot of nothing, the weather has been awful! I had family over to keep the boys entertained though while I sorted the house out - both boys are crawling (WHY) so I had to have a massive re-arrange to get the playpen up! It was getting to the point where even if I left the room for even 30 seconds (answer the door for the postman) I’d come back and one of them would have disappeared!! I also had a crapper of an afternoon the other day as Ruairí managed to grab a brew and spill it over himself (luckily it was stone cold), then Conor ate some of the wet loo roll I’d used cleaning it up as I changed Ruairí’s clothes. In short - it’s time for baby jail!!!!

@Fivebyfive2 Budget and gift lists are a good idea!! I don’t buy for many but those I do are family and very close friends so I do try and get something nice. I can’t believe Christmas is already being talked about!
Your MIL just loves sticking her oar in doesn’t she?! Stick to your own plans! It’s got nothing to do with her!!

@MrsH497 Ah did Charlotte like the zoo? Teething - good old calpol or Neurofen. Lots of teething toys, they’ll want to chew on anything - the Nuby keys are fab, as are their teething bibs. The boys have 6 teeth between them now with a 7th cutting so I feel like an old hat at teething now haha! She might go off her food a bit the day the tooth actually cuts but don’t worry, just go with it - only lasted a day with the boys.

@ELW85 Oh hun, not more worry. Has the neurologist mentioned CP specifically? I’ll keep everything crossed for you that all is okay. Hope Wednesday goes well x

@TrashKitten10 Oh Jesus, that sounds awful. Well done you for not taking it. Cliques in the workplace are the absolute worst. I actually had to deal with it/reprimand the worst offenders in my job about 2 years ago. A lot of gossip that was actually just bitching and bullying. Luckily people spoke up and it was dealt with. Is there anyone you can flag the behaviour to?
How has Daisy found nursery?

@purplefig I really loved the challenge too!
So we have just dropped nap 3, maybe a week ago and the boys are 7 months. Some days they struggle to get to bedtime but they also won’t go down again so what can you do! For us it’s all about total day sleep so I cap this at 3 hours max over the day - tends to be 1 hour at 9.30 and 2 hours at 1; that way they’re not up too long before bath time too! We sort of follow the 2-3-4 routine now but it’s more 2.5-2.5-4 for us! Seems to be working fairly well though!

@LokiCat Ah I’m so so glad she’s sleeping better! Sorry to hear you’re not though; I only BF for 5 weeks so I can’t offer much advice there but hopefully someone can!

@MrsR16 glad to hear your baby jail is working well hahaha!

MrsH497 · 07/09/2020 08:57

@MrsEG I have an image of your boys being proper cheeky boys!
I'm glad you mentioned the eating I had an awful evening on Saturday she didn't feed for 6 hours and was screaming inconsolably 😕😭 must've been teeth related.

She loved the zoo especially giraffes, the aquarium and butterfly house.

I'll get some teething bibs they sound good. X

Fivebyfive2 · 07/09/2020 09:01

Morning all! So Joe slept well again, 7.45 until 6 with 2 wake ups to feed. At the 4am one I was worried because when I put him down he was wriggling and groaning, buuut he got himself to sleep! Unfortunately I had so much spinning around my head that I didn't actually sleep well at all, which has royally pissed me off and basically told dh his family need to stop stressing me out/sticking their noses in because it's bad enough when I don't sleep because of the actual baby, I don't need to also be kept up worrying about adult babies being batshit crazy as well 🤯 He just handed me a box of jaffa cakes and said to ignore them!

@MrsEG, that's fantastic that they're crawling, although very stressful I can imagine! Joe is still trying bless him! I've got a bunch of baby proof stuff on order so we're prepared!

We kind of do 2, 3 and then either 4 or 3/3.5 with a tiny nap to keep him going if required and it seems to be working well. He's also eating more the last week or so and, although not in his room, we have detached the snuzpod from the bed so it's a normal crib. I actually wonder if that's helping too, maybe we're disturbing each other less? If he is still sleeping well in a few days I think we'll try his room again 🤞I feel so pathetic that he's almost 9 months and I've still not managed to get him settled in his room. I know that's daft, we're just doing what works and loads of people do the same or similar for much longer, it seems I've just developed a bit of a complex about it?!

I am loving all the talk of baby jails too by the way 😂

ELW85 · 07/09/2020 09:01

@MrsEG - she hinted at it so I emailed her and she came back with a load of questions then said we need a physio assessment and then scans.
I really need Wednesday to go ok for a bit of hope and then hopefully the physio goes well (whenever that is).
He is starting to pay more attention to his right hand and open and close it mort so I’m praying it’s just a developmental thing and he’s grown out if it by 6 months.
He has it flat on the floor for tummy time and the left one fisted (the one they’re worried he has a preference for) so I’ve no idea.
I’d never have thought about it unless she’d said.
He’s been really poorly this weekend too. Coughing and sneezing and eyes red. Still not having his bottles properly. He barely slept last night so I’m thinking it’s his reflux. Going to try and push for some omeprazole suspension. Xx

MrsEG · 07/09/2020 09:15

@MrsH497 Ha they are!! My life at the mo is like that episode of friends where Phoebe is babysitting the triplets - I’ll be changing Ruairí like ‘Right that’s you done’ and turn around like oh crap, where’s Conor gone 🙈 I think I’m definitely gonna be kept on my toes! Yeah the bibs are fab especially when you’re out and about, plus they can’t drop them!!

@Fivebyfive2 Definitely, put your foot down! Joe isn’t her baby he’s yours!! Don’t worry about moving Joe out, it’s not like there’s some set time it has to be done, just do it when you’re ready!

@ELW85 I’m just so sorry you have all this worry, I can’t imagine. I really hope that this is just the neurologist perhaps being very very thorough in having Finn checked out, I really do hope he’s fine and I’ll be thinking of you all on Wednesday. Xx

ELW85 · 07/09/2020 09:33

@MrsEG thank you xx

OP posts:
stormtrooperjulian · 07/09/2020 10:33

@TrashKitten10 hopefully if you keep standing up for yourself the bully will realise that you won't be victimised and will stop behaving so badly. You're an amazing role model for Daisy!

@Fivebyfive2 don't worry about what other people do with their babies, do whatever works for you! Ignore your MIL and tell your DH you expect him to stand up for you and tell her to back off.

@ELW85 oh hun you must be so worried, you've been so strong all this time though and you can deal with whatever is thrown at you. I hope everything goes well on Wednesday

ELW85 · 07/09/2020 11:16

@stormtrooperjulian - thank you. I just keep hoping that there’s an explanation for everything and it’s all normal/ok but I’ve just got this awful feeling xx

OP posts:
Fivebyfive2 · 08/09/2020 09:51

@MrsEG, ha ha I actually saw that episode the other day and thought of you 😂

Well, after a very tough day yesterday with Joe being super fussy, upset and hardly napping at all, he at least slept well again! Third night in a row of only 2 short feeds in the night 🥳 Hopefully he will be a bit happier today and this evening we visit the nursery!

MrsEG · 09/09/2020 17:03

@ELW85 I hope everything went well today lovely x

ELW85 · 09/09/2020 17:30

@MrsEG - thank you. The technician said he was very well behaved and that his report would be done today, then it has to be written by the neurophysiologist and then sent back to the consultant.
I’m REALLY hoping to get answers by the weekend but I’m not holding my breath...x

OP posts:
Fivebyfive2 · 09/09/2020 18:55

@ELW85, keeping everything crossed for you guys that you get answers and that it is good news.

We saw the nursery last night and it looks fantastic 😀 Joe is continuing his good sleep streak, eating us out of house and home and still trying to crawl... Not sure if it's meant to take this long?? But, he started clapping his hands today 😀

How's everyone getting on this week? Xx

ELW85 · 09/09/2020 20:38

@Fivebyfive2 - thank you and congratulations on the nursery, sleeping and clapping! He’s doing so well xx

OP posts:
MrsEG · 10/09/2020 14:32

@ELW85 well done Finn for being so well behaved! I’ll keep fingers and toes crossed you hear back before the weekend. How has he (and you!) been doing?

@Fivebyfive2 He’ll get there don’t worry! My niece wasn’t even sitting unaided until 8 months and it was another month or so before she crawled. They all do these things in their own time!

ELW85 · 10/09/2020 16:40

@MrsEG - thank you.
He’s poorly at the moment which isn’t helping anything (cough and congested) so his eczema has flared up poor thing.
Put him back on his normal milk and he was eating fine again until today.
I just feel like it’s one thing after the other.
He HAS been using his right hand a lot more though which is great! I just need this physio assessment to happen I think or I’ll be forever worried about CP.
He sat by himself for about 10 seconds today though! Couldn’t quite believe it.
How are you getting on?
