Hi all

As I’m rubbish and keep double posting I thought I’d start a new thread as we’re nearly at 1k.
I don’t have all of the OG’s so apologies for anyone I miss or anyone I miss in general (blaming lack of coffee this morning!!)

@TrashKitten10 *interest 🤪

Fivebyfive2 · 30/08/2020 16:57

@TrashKitten10, I'm tempted to try the 234 routine, but might hold off just a little because I'm not sure Joe could go 4 hours on the regular at the moment?

@purplefig, got him some bits from Next and Gap, proper excited 😂

Hope every one is having a nice weekend? Xx

ELW85 · 30/08/2020 17:58

Sorry all

My head is completely up my arse again as Finn has now decided that he’ll get really fussy and arch his back after 70ml and then finish the other 140ml just before his nap.
I would say it’s reflux but not sure how he can down double what he had in the first sitting if that was the case, if you get me?
He’s been like this before but not for this long (going on for a week now).
Tried Carobel, Gaviscon, back on his dairy milk, off again to Neocate and nothing is making a difference.
I’m gutted as I was really looking forward to weaning but I’m not sure I can whilst he’s like this.
Sorry, I feel like all I’m doing at the moment is coming up with a list of issues.
When do things get normal so I can enjoy him again?!?
Doesn’t look like he’s teething so I’m stuck...
He’s gone from draining 210ml to struggling with it over an hour and a bit. WTF?!?!

Might be way off the mark @ELW85, but I think I remember @MrsR16 saying Ethsn wasn't taking his bottles well at all before his first tooth popped? Xx

Fivebyfive2 · 30/08/2020 19:40

Also, here is Joe in his Gruffallo suite, just because 😛

TTC First Baby Catch-up With Our Babies Continued!!
MrsR16 · 30/08/2020 19:45

@Fivebyfive2 thanks for remembering! @ELW85 yeah, Ethan dropped about half his intake of formula a couple of days before his first tooth popped. There wasn't any sign of them and then one morning boom there it was! And then the next one the next morning!! I'm wondering if Ethan's doing the same now - he's only taken 18oz of formula today which is really low for him! Also, Finn might well be ready for weaning and it may help him! Ethan's on Gaviscon, but I'm fairly convinced he doesn't actually need it as he's eating so much food now xx

MrsR16 · 30/08/2020 19:45

Also @Fivebyfive2 how cute?!??

TrashKitten10 · 30/08/2020 19:48

@ELW85 You sound like you've tried everything on the reflux side of things. Do you think he's just going through a fussy stage? Daisy went through a stage where she became suddenly more interested in the world and stopped wanting her bottles. Is he still getting a good amount of milk in over the course of the day even if it's in smaller chunks?

@Fivebyfive2 Yeah 4 hours is quite a long chunk of time if he's not used to it. We sometimes end up doing more of a 2-3-3.5 and it still seems to work :) Today though she had a terrible afternoon nap and ended up doing 2-3-5 🤦🏻‍♀️ Just get a good routine going and they mess it all up!

@purplefig Yes absolutely, it just seems an unobtainable goal for most 'normal' families to live off one wage. We are lucky like you to have family offering childcare. In some ways so much easier than nursery, in some ways more difficult (no MIL, you can't feed the baby McDonald's 🥴) It's great that M is weaning well. I'm actually back to work in 4 days 😱 (have avoided writing that down as it's a bit scary haha) what about you?

ELW85 · 30/08/2020 20:42

@Fivebyfive2 - OMG how adorable?!?
It’s possible I guess it’s just it’s been about a week now. It’s weird, he drinks up to half and then will just kick and flail and arch his back and categorically doesn’t want it.
Then 20-30 mins later (sometimes more) he’ll have it.
Does that sound familiar @MrsR16 or was he just totally off his food?

On the weaning front, he doesn’t stop staring at me when I’m eating so it might just be a good idea to go for it.

@TrashKitten10 - I’m my heart, I’m still saying reflux. I’m counting his ml in a 24 hour period and still managing to get it all in, so I’m not concerned about that I guess.

One thing that’s just occurred to me now is that it’s in parallel to things like introducing the hydrocortisone cream for his eczema that we now have to have a break from, so I wonder if that changes anything in the next few days.
Probably to be committed to the book of baby mysteries that will just change one day...

Sorry to be a proper negative Nancy again guys!

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 30/08/2020 20:52

@ELW85 Ethan still does that... sometimes I think he just doesn't want the volume all in one go! Finn will soon let you know if he's not ready for weaning! Some take to it right away and others don't - they're all different! You could be spot on with the cream! It's a real possibility. You're not a negative Nancy at all! We all have worries and concerns 😊

ELW85 · 31/08/2020 09:35

@MrsR16 - thank you fir being so supportive! I’m just second guessing everything at the minute but I know this will all pass and I’ll get back to enjoying it again! Xx

Happy bank holiday Monday all! I wrote a huge post before but got distracted with Alayna rolling onto her side (and started taking photos/videos 😁) and it all disappeared🙈 will try again!

@purplefig I'm getting some sleep now that I've taken a leaf out of your book and started cosleeping (I always try the first few hours in her crib hoping the worst is over 😂). Then DH takes over around 7 and I sleep till 11/12. It works for us! Did you have to night wean M or did it automatically when you started gradual retreat?
Oh I'm loving the autumn clothes for the little ones! H&M have some adorable girls clothes; it's a wonder I didn't buy the whole shop when I was in there yesterday. I just wish they didn't have so much pink.

@MrsEG she's still waking up hourly unfortunately. I've stuck to her bedtime routine so hopefully she's coming to the end of it soon.
I hope the boys are doing better now re teething? I think Alayna is teething as well, she's pulling on her ear a lot (given herself a big scratch behind her ear in the process - I can't believe how fast their nails grow!!).
Your week sounds lovely. When DH and I had a baby free meal, we just spent the entire time talking about Alayna. Will try and follow your steps next time!

@MrsH497 we're going through the 4 month regression now. Previously she could go straight down after falling asleep after a feed, but now she's in a light sleep so wakes up crying as soon as she's down. I've been trying to get her to self settle for bedtime, which has somewhat helped (we used pick up/put down and shhh/pat). Also taking her out of her swaddle has made her less frustrated.

@Fivebyfive2 I hope Joe slept better last night? The regression is so tough! Hopefully we'll both be on the other side of it soon!! You got this mama 💪🏼
Also how freakin adorable does Joe look in that suit?! 😍

@ELW85 Alayna has been like that for the past month (boob and bottle!). Similar to @TrashKitten10 she's so distracted by everything around her that as soon as she hears something she'll stop drinking. So usually drinks around 60ml at a time (we've started feeding her in the nursery where it's dark and she's slowly drinking more). Also I've noticed that she spends her day snacking every hour, instead of a full feed. So I've been waiting at least two/three hours in between before feeding her again, even if she seems hungry, and she's now slowly taking more.
As long as he's drinking enough throughout the whole day and has enough wet/dirty nappies then it should be okay. It's understandable to be worried though!

Sorry if I missed any other chat!

I think it's been two weeks since we've been going through the regression now (maybe? I've lost all sense of time 😂). A few wins though - Alayna has been putting herself to sleep after her bedtime routine for 5 nights now (last two nights within 5 minutes and with minimal crying!!). She is still waking up hourly, so I either pat her back to sleep or feed her (wake her up before putting her back down). Weirdly I hear her self settling within the hour, it's just when her cycle ends she can't 🤔 also, she's been falling asleep in her sleeping bag, so no more swaddle frustrations which I'm very happy about!
I brought her into bed last night at 1:15 and she slept all the way through till 5:45 - if only she could do that in her own crib!
According to wonder weeks this leap ends in 5 days, so I hope it's the same for the regression!!

DH and I are going to a late lunch once Alayna wakes up from her nap for the last Eat Out to Help Out day. Hope you're all having a lovely day 😊

MrsEG · 31/08/2020 14:14

@purplefig Oh man, so messy. Double the mess! I sort of followed their lead a bit and they love to feed themselves. Which is fine, but my GOD. I placed some cheesy orzo down for them today and hands went right in 🙈😫 The dog is having a field day though!!
Oh absolutely take your mum up on the babysitting offer!! I think that sounds fab - my sister is expecting and my niece will be 3 months shy of her 3rd birthday when new baby arrives! Definitely no cheeky third for us. My chances of more twins have now increased four-fold, 1 in 12 chance of them now so it could be baby three and four!! Noooo way haha!

@TrashKitten10 I so agree with the childcare chat with @purplefig - I think it’s really quite shameful this country doesn’t allow for a primary caregiver to be at home longer than a max of about 9-10 months. I could go on all day long about now shit maternity / SMP is. Did I ever mention I get lower child benefit payments for Conor, as they Gov class him as my ‘second child’? Yep - got loads of old clothes and essential items stashed away from child number one who was born 3 whole minutes before him. It’s quite significantly less, too. Good job he doesn’t eat and drink the exact same amount, right?! 🙃😒
We’ve been doing 2-3-4 recently! Boys sort of fell in to it in a weird way, given how damn strict I am with routine haha. It’s working really well for them, how is it with Daisy?
How are you feeling about going back to work?

@Fivebyfive2 I love Next baby stuff! We have loads of clothes for autumn and winter stocked away. Ruairí is almost in his 9-12 month stuff now though! He’s such a massive boy, he was 20lbs when he was weighed last week!! He’s got 3lbs on his brother!! How are you feeling, has your cough/cold got any better?

@ELW85 Conor went off his milk right before weaning and someone told me it can actually be a sign of readiness, bored of the same thing. He took to weaning brilliantly too whereas greedy-guts Ruairí took a bit longer to adjust!

@mrsr16 I weaned Conor off his Gaviscon when we started weaning and he’s been completely fine without it now!

@LokiCat Does she take a dummy? Dummies saved me during the regression big time! Good luck and hang in there, it does end! Enjoy your lunch!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend! We went to my parents yesterday and it was fab. Conor was a bit of a grump, a mix of his tooth and getting tired, but they just adore my niece. They both smile so much when they see her! She’s crazy about them too always wants to cuddle them and stroke their heads 🥰😍 Her fave thing is to show them how all of her toys work!!
Have a great Monday all xx

stormtrooperjulian · 01/09/2020 11:19

Hi all! Haven't been on in ages, so much to catch up on! How is everyone doing? It's only a few weeks now til Dex's first birthday, I really can't believe he's almost a year old, it's gone so quickly.

I had a look on the TTC thread earlier and I saw that @ValidUser is pregnant, really made me smile so I thought some of you guys who might remember her from way back on the TTC thread would be happy to hear that!

RanchoRelaxo · 01/09/2020 11:28

Morning everyone! Thought I would pop on to say hi, these threads move so quickly, I just dont have the time to keep up 😂 how is everyone? How old are all the babies now?
My little girl is 14 months now and walking/climbing on everything haha!
We are also ttc #2, must be mad Grin

RanchoRelaxo · 01/09/2020 11:34

Fantastic news too for @ValidUser ! One of the originals :)

stormtrooperjulian · 01/09/2020 12:39

@RanchoRelaxo oooh exciting ttc no. 2! How long have you been trying for? We plan to start ttc no. 2 early next year.

RanchoRelaxo · 01/09/2020 13:35

@stormtrooperjulian only for a month or so! We arnt trying too hard, im trying to be a bit more relaxed about it this time Grin we were originally going to wait until the new year too, but my husband has convinced me to start now haha he wants a small age gap!

Fivebyfive2 · 02/09/2020 09:23

@RanchoRelaxo @stormtrooperjulian, it is so great to hear from you!! I can't believe how old the babies are getting?!

Well, it is September now ladies so I am officially planning for Christmas 😂 I'm thinking with a baby (who has a Dec birthday no less) plus covid faff, plus in law separation faff etc that I'd better be on the ball this year! The lists have begun.

Also, we're looking around a nursery this week to send Joe in January and both dh and me have work related meetings coming up about how we're handling our hours after Christmas. Exciting but soooo scary 😮

How's everyone doing?

@ELW85, I've been thinking about you loads, I hope you are all doing OK? Xx

Joe is making progress with crawling! What I thought was him trying to bum shuffle turned in to him working out how to get from sitting up, into crawl position and he now does that constantly! Unfortunately he still can't actually crawl; he can lift and push his arms and he can bend and (kind of) push his legs, but hasn't worked out how to put it all together yet, bless him. He just ends up rolling everywhere 😂 Hopefully he gets it soon because you can really see the frustration now!

ELW85 · 02/09/2020 13:52

@stormtrooperjulian - it was lovely to hear about BalidUser. I think @MrsEG mentioned it a while ago but I’m so pleased it’s progressing well!
Can’t believe he’s nearly a year!! 😱

@Fivebyfive2 - thanks lovely. Had a massive chat with the docs this morning where I managed to hold it together surprisingly! She said I’d been a wonderful advocate for Finn and that whilst she’s sure the EEG will be fine, to not think about PNA stuff til after.
And then apologised as they haven’t arranged it and he’s fallen through the cracks...
I won’t relax until it’s sorted.
How exciting about nursery!! Are you going back to work next year? Xx

TrashKitten10 · 02/09/2020 14:21

Ahh, I've reached the end of my maternity leave and go back to work tomorrow. Very mixed feelings- super anxious how Daisy will get on without me there but also really looking forward to putting my teacher hat back on. To celebrate our last few days together she has cut her 7th tooth and has been a nap avoiding, whinging nightmare 😂

@Fivebyfive2 You're so organised! Joe sounds really close to crawling! It's amazing how quickly they get going with it once they figure out the arms and legs working together bit :) Have you got many presents in mind for him?

Wow @RanchoRelaxo TTC number 2, that's amazing! I'm still so, so far from being ready to do it all again 😂 Between you and @stormtrooperjulian we will need a 'TTC first baby catch up- TTC second baby' thread

@MrsEG That's crazy, it's not like you chose to have two babies at once and it must cost a fortune! Ah, I'm glad it's working for you, nice when they just fall into a routine that works. So far today it's been a complete fail and she did 5 hours (!) and then a measly 40 minute nap and has refused another nap just now 🤔 It's going to be a long day! :)

PippaPug · 02/09/2020 14:53

Hello hello,

Thank you for the tag! I lost the thread and I couldn’t find it a while ago and then life just got in the way!

How is everyone doing?

I have skimmed through the thread bud so much has happened since I last posted 🙈 I hope everyone is doing well though?

@MrsEG - just saw your last comment about Coner being classed as a second child and really made me laugh - exactly how I feel, same length of mat leave and mat pay and of course was able to pass all the baby things I bought for Alexander and give it to Benjamin 🤨 or not! How are your boys doing?

Alexander and Benjamin are almost 6.5 months and just happy little ones, always making each other laugh, they love being together and now will look around for the other one 💖

Currently having a mega nap - they seem so tired last few days not sure why but I’m following their lead which has meant I have done everything around the house and finally managed to post something!

@stormtrooperjulian One!! That’s flown by. Do you have any big plans for his birthday?

@RanchoRelaxo #2! Amazing. I’ll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you! My personal knowledge of two under 2 is twins haha, just work on growing your extra pair of arms now while you can!!

@Fivebyfive2 Yeah christmas makes me itch a bit with everything going on! As a family as a whole we’ve all decided not to even think about it yet. We don’t want to make a bunch of plans only for a second wave to come along and cancel everything! I imagine it’ll be quite a quiet one, to be honest. Do you have any birthday plans? Ah how lovely you’re getting the full year off work! Enjoy the nursery tours!

@ELW85 Is the EEG booked in now?

@TrashKitten10 Happy first day back! I hope it goes really well for everyone. Oh Daisy, don’t start refusing those naps now!! Hope the first day at school goes really well, with all these new Covid guidelines!

@PippaPug They are so gorgeous! Are your boys ID? Glad they’ve had a lovely big nap for you! How is everything with their kidneys now? Yeah the boys are great! Getting a bit more confident with weaning now and luckily they’re loving their food!

Hope everyone is doing fab! I had physio again yesterday and now basically have to electrocute my pelvic floor in to action!! Seriously, these twins did a number on me!
I’ve been doing a local Active Challenge the last 4 weeks, the goal was 100km across 15 activities and I tallied up I’ve covered 115km and it doesn’t end til Sunday! I’ve genuinely enjoyed it, it’s given me a bit of purpose and a push to get out of the door as much as I can, which has been helping my mental health enormously! Good old fresh air.

Have good Thursdays, ladies x

Fivebyfive2 · 03/09/2020 09:50

@ELW85, that's good, sounds like they're on the ball now.

Well! My work meeting went really well. I'm going back in the new year, 4 days a week. Might use a few Kit days from Nov, but only a bit here and there. We're seeing the nursery on Tuesday, it's around the corner from my office so hopefully it all works out getting him in, it would be so convenient!

@TrashKitten10, hopefully he gets there soon! With presents, not too sure yet, maybe some baby duplo blocks, definitely some books. I guess we have to wait until nearer the time to see what he's in to and what stage he's at with moving etc?? My bro wants to get him a Villa shirt with 'Joe 1' on it 😂 I might ask for some money too, so we can put it aside for some summer stuff for him next year, like a swing, sand pit etc.

What a horrible day! It's a day for biscuits and cartoons in pyjamas I think 😛

Fivebyfive2 · 03/09/2020 09:56

@TrashKitten10, sorry meant to ask how did work go?? Xx

@MrsEG, same with holding off on planning the social bits of Christmas, just doing budgets and gift lists for now... God I hope we don't go into lockdown again!! The Active Challenge sounds brilliant 😀
