Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mrsjaffabiffa · 01/10/2007 17:06

HDWP, not one for a short name are you?

Glad you sound chirpier.

Well done roly mo's!! Jorja is still being a pain by my standards. You all know my take on CC but even miss hard nut me can not leave her like she's getting at the moment. Makes me sad. I'm hoping tyg is on the mark and she's having some nurological changes going on.

AbbyLou · 01/10/2007 18:01

Mrs jb, I'm with you. Ever hopeful on those changes....
Had a lovely weekend with my parents although I think even my very open-minded mum was surprised by how much R cries!

itwasmewotpushedhim · 01/10/2007 19:01

Bit more company for you now Julie

Just as TYG was dispensing more sleep guru tips, J went and surprised us - 12 hours in a row! But 2 bra changes and countless pads later I was one sore mama And he slept really well, 3 big naps, in the daytime yesterday so maybe thats why he did so well last night. Still no rolling....at least he has his bosom buddy Beau to keep him company.

Could it be teeth perhaps MrsJB? Poor little J

HumptyDumptyWasPushed · 01/10/2007 19:21

CamTheEggSlayer I'm on to you. M stopped rolling a while ago btw. She does it occasionally but is too much of a wee biffa to manage it half the time. She just lies there pivoting round on her endless plane shouting aieeeaiieea.

MrsJB, could J be going through the same phase as M? As a little baby she'd just fall asleep when tired. Now she's a bit older she can try and fight it so much harder until the point of no return. Cue screaming, back arching, inconsolable sobbing etc. I either get her just as fatigue hits and rock/feed her to sleep or I miss the window of opportunity and she morphs into a ratbag. I think the 4/5 month bit is hard. They know they want to be up and about, understand the world so much better but are still stuck in their own little bodies. I know M loves to be held upright all the time and will not settle for lying down for naps. There's too much to see and do. Feeds are a nightmare because she can't stay focused for long enough. I'm hoping that once she can crawl she'll burn up more energy and cut down on the frustration. Until then it's strap into the pushchair and walk for miles. Not so easy for you with H and M I know. Have packaged up the book for you btw and will post in when in the town next. Hang on in there, smiley J is in there waiting to burst free.

M is still asleep. Torn between waking her or calling it nightime. Laziness will of course prevail and I'll leave her be while I eat cheese and gingerbread. Two course meal that.

itwasmewotpushedhim · 01/10/2007 19:31

Does the (gorgeous) tank fall asleep by herself ever or is it always with help of a boobie or movement? At this age they need to learn to fall asleep by themselves so that when they are in a 'calm' place they can drop off to sleep themselves, it also helps them to settle in the night. J can now go two hours, instead of 1.5hrs between sleeps and so I put him down awake (often topping him up with some boobie) at two hours after he has woken even if there are no eyerubbing or whingeing moments and he goes off quite happily. If I wait until there is crying and eye rubbing I have lost my window...and all hell is let loose.

Can't believe you rumbled me so quickly, he always got right on my nerves that Humpty, he's a right numpty

itwasmewotpushedhim · 01/10/2007 19:32

BTW its definitely nightime

juliewoolie · 01/10/2007 20:07

LG&T

Where are all the kings soldiers when you need them.

The sleep thing is a pain in the arse - just as I thought we had it sorted last week he is back to 25 min naps and screaming blue murder during the day - back to baby boot camp and long afternoon walks.

Most exciting off out with a few pals on Fri - good friends from NY over for a few days before they are off travelling round Sth America for 6 months. Is it so wrong to be planning an outfit to wear already.

juliewoolie · 01/10/2007 20:55

sorry just realised that looks like I am - I am not preggo just not trying to not get pregnant

itwasmewotpushedhim · 01/10/2007 21:01

Those soldiers were useless, they couldn't put him back together

We wait impatiently look forward Julie to hear your good news. Sometimes I plan an outfit weeks in advance

Bensonbluebird · 01/10/2007 21:14

Just trying to catch up after a buy few weeks, first Aidan had a bug and a high temperature for a few days, then we had two sets of visitors and now we are having a new boiler fitted. I've been trying to stay out of the flat all day, and luckily it has been sunny and hot! spent the afternoon lazing in the park.

AM - hope things get better soon.

Mrs JB - your poor little cat, how sad for you.

Been thinking about how different it is second time around. I am much more inclined to read less and just go with what I think is instinctively right. With DS1 I was desperate to do the 'right' thing and didn't wean until a couple of weeks short of six months by which time he was ravenous. I was scared to give him calpol when he wasn't well. Whereas now I know that sleep is the best thing for getting better and dose DS2 up to the eyeballs on medised and nurofen and damp flannels to get his temperature down. The thing is that I'm not sure that if someone had told me everything I know now I would have taken any notice!

Aidan is wolfing down vast quantities of solids, 3 meals a day. I had to look up BLW and found that that is what Aidan is doing (as well as mush. He ate virtually a whole pear just by sucking the other day when his brother offered it to him and now he eats rice cakes by mushing them around in his mouth until they are soft enough to swallow. I don't know if it is the food that has made a difference to his sleeping but he is now only waking twice. The other day when we missed lunch he woke every two hours and was so hungry he was sucking my face when I picked him up.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 01/10/2007 21:16

Geeeeeeeeee I thought we were all mad when we were pregnant. Seriously lost it now.

Outfits? Planning? Eh? ChezSOH:

Does it fit? Is it clean? Can I wear a straw hat with it? Where's the gingerbread?

Cam, you're eggstrordinarily proud of your crime.

[gleeful]

Mathilda falls asleep all on her lonesome if she's down and being left alone in time. If you're playing with her and she's 'up' when she's due a nap, you have to help her 'down'. If she's lying down quietly she'll just nod off happily on her own. The trick is getting the timing right because sleepiness kicks in before any of the signs that it's taking hold. Generally she naps at 11am, 1.30am and 4am and then stays in bed 7-7. She wakes regularly for feeds at night but she's actually in her own little routine. Today she's been disrupted and moved around a lot when she should be sleeping, hence the going down at 4.30 and still being asleep now. Probably means I'm in for a dawn start tomorrow which is buggery rubbish.

Anybody want to share my Christmas pudding? It's very yummy.

Eggstrordinarily...

[titter]

HumptyDumptyWasPushed · 01/10/2007 21:24

Benson, at 'sucking my face'. M does that when hungry, sucks anything that vaguely passes her by ie my nose, the cat, my limbs, laundry etc.

itwasmewotpushedhim · 01/10/2007 21:54

J loves to suck my face and the dc love to try and get him to suck their noses

Whoops, no 12 hours straight for us tonight, I can hear some yelling...

itwasmewotpushedhim · 01/10/2007 22:02

I gave him a booby snack and now he wants a three course meal..

itwasmewotpushedhim · 01/10/2007 22:15

Benson, did you say sunny and hot and in the park all afternoon? Are we in the same country

largeginandtonic · 01/10/2007 22:25

Pebblemum · 01/10/2007 23:23

Hello all

I did try to catch up but gave up. Sorry Ive not been on here for ages, been busy getting ready for our holiday and doing other things. My poor pc has been neglected and as a punishment seems to be working extra slow tonight

I am the best mum according to Jordan at the moment lol. I won him two tickets to the Portsmouth V Reading match and what a game it was. He went with my dad and hasnt stopped talking about it. He would have been happy if they had just scored one or two goals but to witness an amazing 7-4 victory was great. He had his photo taken in Harry Redknaps chair and got 11 autographs including Benjani's (hat trick man!!)

In my quick scan of the posts I see more and more little ones are rolling over. There is no stopping Alana now, sometimes I wish she would just lay still lol. She is teething quite badly at the moment, poor thing. There are two that are almost there but they are side ones, im sure the boys always got front ones first. She has also just learnt to blow raspberries, Its quite sweet until she covers you in spit

Anyway must go, ive had my bath run for ages. Im off tomorrow until the 12th so take care and I look forward to catching up on my return

Nite!!

MKG · 02/10/2007 03:23

LG&T I guess we sell nice clothes, just not my style which is good because I won't want to spend my paychecks. Selling kids clothes is great because I'm around women that want to talk about their kids, so I talk about mine all the time.

largeginandtonic · 02/10/2007 08:04

Morning

I will attempt to make a little more sense today! B is waking quite a bit in the night atm, only grumbling\talking to himself though. I go in thinking he is awake and ready for food but look at him for a while and he is eyes closed grumbling away!! I left him till 5 this morning before feeding and he went right back to bed still making noises. He is still asleep now.

Good for me as i had an extra after school yesterday (5yr old) and he is quite ummm tricky. He doesnt eat anything. His lunchbox is 2 mini pepparami's and 2 squeezy yoghurts with much the same for tea with a bag of crisps. His mom says he wont eat anything else Last night i did fishfingers, carrots and oven chips (heaven to my dc)I only put a handful of chips, dessert spoon of carrots and 1 fishfinger on his plate and he ate all but 2 bites!!! He has also eaten his bowl of cereal this morning. I have packed his lunchbox with the same as mine get (sandwich, 2 pieces of fruit, raisins, juice box, choc traybake and squeezy yog) I hope he eats something or he will be starving later... or not?!

Hope your night was ok? Did he settle in the end?

Must get Hugs and B dressed, still jamma wearing and i have to leave in 25 mins. I hate the school run, have i said that before

ihateeggs · 02/10/2007 08:11

he was up once, and again at 6, which woke B up but he popped himself back off without booby after some grumbling until just now. Ho hum.

The five year old stayed the night? You really are supermum . Sounds like he needs to stay with you more often

Have a great holiday Pebble. The football match was quite something.

Aaaagh school run, B and J not dressed yet either...

HumptyDumptyWasPushed · 02/10/2007 08:57

Am idly wondering if Benjani is something to do with Sportacus or if I should ever bother learning something about football. Maybe after I've written my scintillating first novel.

Well, for saying M went to bed at 4.30pm last night, she slept until 6.30am and only woke for two feeds. She must have been knackered.

Am starting my Christmas shopping today. I always start in October, spread the cost and all shopping must be done by December 1st so I can relax and enjoy it without worrying. So, festive face on and off to spend lots of money. And maybe sit in a cafe and drink earl grey and eat a scone.
