Hi @Magpie21. I just changed to normal aptamil. She seems a bit happier with it and more settled.
We are currently in hospital, she had surgery today to correct Laryngomalacia. She's been so upset all day, I'm sat here holding her whilst she sleeps as she will not let me put her down. I'm so exhausted.

Oh @Blizy I feel for you. What a trying time. I wish her a speedy recovery. How long will she be in for?

@mrssunshinexxx I was researching these on Amazon when the crinkle mats were mentioned (which I can't find..). The water mat look great so I will order one of them for the LO.

@mrssunshinexxx we have one of those but when I tried Ivy on it she cried so I have not attempted since 😂 I think maybe she was too young so will have to get it out and try again.

@Magpie21 she's fine, her usual grumpy self! She should be home tomorrow.

Instead of a cringe mat the silver foil blankets are great for babies to lay on, help to develop their senses.

@Magpie21 we have the exact same issue with the dummy! It's so annoying as he loses it or it comes out and then he gets upset meaning a lot of unsettledness and like you say, putting it back in multiple times. Not sure if this is something they will get better at?!

Also try putting in "foil blanket" on amazon and that should bring up the crinkle blankets. They were obviously intended for a different purpose but there are lots of reviews saying they were brilliant for sensory play!

Thanks for the Hey Bear recommendation on this thread! I'd never heard of it but tried it yesterday evening when hes normally unsettled and he was mesmerised by it! Managed to actually eat my tea in peace Smile

I can confirm a bit of tin foil under a normal play mat has the same effect as a crinkle mat I think, she seems to quite like it! 😊

@Magpie21 we are having the same issue with the dummy. The other night, due to being in a sleepy daze and then lack of light in the room, I discovered I was trying to put his dummy in his ear. Felt bit a foolish after that.
Thanks to the PP re:foil blankets, I'm going to give them a go.
I was popping it back in straight away but lately I'm waiting to see if he really starts to fuss or just settles back to sleep. Sometimes he just shakes his head for a moment or two and then is conked out again. But it's a fine line between falling back into his deep sleep and waking up crying, I dont always want to take that chance.

Oops my last message got a bit mixed up. The foil blanket part should've been at the end

These are the foil blankets I got! He loves lying on it and wriggling but also when I lay it over his baby gym like a tent so he can stare at all the lights!

@babbafett @SRS1311 I'm relieved I'm not the only one with this annoying little dummy issue. My LO was good up until this week. One thing that is helping a little bit is to gently pull it out a couple of times (but not fully) so the baby tries to suck it to keep hold of it.

Is anyone planning on getting a tattoo for baby?

Report
UKtoSK · 29/08/2020 02:18

@MsMiaWallace I got a tattoo almost two years ago of a rose and a mugunghwa (national flower of Korea) and I’ve given my girl the middle name Rose so I’m making the tattoo I already had as for her haha. When I got it we were struggling to conceive and I always wanted a daughter and knew I wanted her English name to be Rose. Are you planning to get one? If so, what do you have in mind?

I have x2 ink print footprints with roses for my other children on my back. I was thinking you can't have x3 feet so maybe a pocket watch design this time?

@MsMiaWallace do you have a photo you wouldn’t mind sharing? I’m just curious what that looks like, it sounds so cute.

Anyone else’s husband unnecessarily loud around the baby? Maybe because he’s a teacher but he has such a loud voice. Also just now he did an excessively loud sneeze while Jia was feeding and she got such a fright and cried 😭 just no need to sneeze that loudly.

@UKtoSK omg yes 😂 mine is sooooo loud!!

@UKtoSK why is they never need to sneeze until the baby is feeding or your trying to get them to sleep?!? 😂

Magpie21 · 29/08/2020 14:14

@UKtoSK funny!!! I just sent my husband out of the room to open his canned drink! 😆

😂😂 these responses made me laugh. It must be a man thing. My mum said my dad is always scaring the stray cats she feeds with his loud sneezes.

Just caught up. My husband is beyond loud! His sneezes are responsible for earthquakes, I'm sure!

Oh and did I mention that my husband has recently taken up the ukulele? Who knew such a small instrument could be so loud 😫

Report
Magpiefeather · 30/08/2020 05:09

Haha not my dh but my 3yo dd is SO loud and after I tell her to be a bit quieter remembers for about 15 seconds before she’s at full volume again!

Other things I’ve never noticed that are ridiculously loud:

  • our front door opening or closing
  • running the tap
  • the third stair from the top
  • plugging a phone charger in!
  • the clips on nursing bras!
Report
Missgemini · 30/08/2020 08:00

Omg! The clips on nursing bras! Sometimes I just leave them open. The baby just jumps when I've settled him and try to sort out my bra.
Never realised walking around the flat was so loud. We tip toe (still loud) when he's asleep!
