Hi @mangoforbreakfast86 its completely normal to feel that way. I had to stop after 3 weeks for various reasons and I was taken aback by how emotional I felt - I cried a lot. I felt so guilty and like I was letting him down. I think its important to remember that "fed is best" and a happy Mummy makes for a happy baby Smile the fact you have done this long is something to be proud of and commended, dont feel bad at all!

Also we have now moved onto a second thread as this one is almost full! The link to it is a couple of posts up. Or you can find it on the "post natal clubs" home page Smile

Hi ladies, my little girl is 14 weeks old and I am considering stopping breastfeeding for a number of reasons. One of the main ones is that both of us have been suffering on and off from oral and nipple thrush since she was born. We have had thrush more than we haven’t and it makes feeding difficult, painful and stressful. I know it would make me a happier and better mother but I am feeling so guilty as I promised myself I would make it to six months. I feel I have let myself and my little girl down even though I know the most important thing is that she is fed. Has anyone transitioned from bf to ff? Is it normal for me to feel this way? I feel so teary and emotional today. xo

@Busylizzie85 yes my DD is feeding every 2-2.5 hours in the day... I want to try and get this to 3 hrs I figured when she goes longer she takes a bigger feed and that would also help over night!
My mum said when we were babies (some 30 + Years ago) they were told to feed every 4 hours and that was breastfeeding.
I couldn't imagine doing that with DD now, she would get very grouchy and I wouldn't fit in the 8 feeds the MW and HV said they should have a day as minimum

@Smiffette mine is 10 weeks on Thursday she can do 4/5/6 hour for first stint up until around 2/3am then no joke she wakes every 50/60 mins

@Smiffette we are in the same boat Ivy was only having two feeds a night most nights but now we've moved her bedtime earlier she'll sleep for about 4 hours and then up every 2 hours for a feed after that 😴
Feel like I'm moving 2 steps forward 5 steps back at the moment.
She's 11 weeks now and still feeds on average every 2.5 hours during the day is any other breastfed baby doing the same daytime? I'm worried I'm going to struggle to continue to produce milk as I no I'm not eating or drinking properly during the day as I'm feeding her so much.

I have a baby who did a great 4 and half hour first stint but has since been awake for two hours! Hour and a half feeding followed by being sick because she's being too greedy, and now she is feeding again!

I thought we were in for a good night after a long first stint! She normally only sleeps 2-3 hours max in a row at night.

She's 11 weeks old.... any other breastfed babies at this age sleeping similarly?

I'm longing for the days where I only need to regularly do 1-2 short night feeds.

We’re also getting second jabs this week and I think I’ll have to take her alone as husband is working. Hoping she’s just sleepy again and not too upset/feverish.

Looks like we’re due a new thread. Took us a lot longer to reach 40 pages with this one than when we were all still pregnant!!

So helpful reading about jabs, LO has hers 4pm on Thursday. I'm dreading it as OH is on nightshift this week

@SRS1311 so the nurse doing his jabs said the peak time for a fever was five hours after the injection so no need to give before and by giving it after he could have his second dose at peak time

@SRS1311 the leaflet I got in the gps said not to give the calpol before the injections but immediately after instead. Supposedly in a very small number of cases its thought to have reduced the efficiency of the vaccines. I'm not in the UK tho so every country has it's own guidelines. I gave my DS calpol in the nurses office straight after he got them and luckily he didn't develop a fever.

@Busylizzie85 your poor DD. My DS is 12 weeks and has suddenly got much more clingy so maybe its something they are going through at that age. He only really settles with me. Nobody else seems to be able to get him to sleep. He just cries at everyone else or, a new thing he has developed, a cross shout.

@SRS1311 My LO had her jabs at 4pm on the Monday and she was back to her normal self by the next morning. That evening she had her jabs was the first (and only) time my DH and I had dinner together as she was asleep! I administered calpol straight after the jabs (with the help of the nurse). Gave her 3 doses. She was one of the lucky ones I think!

I'm really enjoying using the Huckleberry app. It's so helpful, I don't know how I got through the first few weeks without. I'm starting to think a lot of my LO's fussiness was partly caused my lack of sleep.

Is anyone else at the 11-12 week mark suddenly suffering from colic again? Ivy has been fine and then bam 10 week mark hit a couple of weeks ago and she's screaming again! Infacol worked for a week and now she's just screamed at me for 10 mins before having a small feed and falling asleep on the boob 😢
it's so heartbreaking

@SRS1311 ours just recommended giving it to her immediately afterwards along with a feed!

Missgemini · 31/08/2020 19:33

@SRS1311 We didn't, but the nurse administering the jab mentioned that she recommends it. We are aiming to do it for the 12 week jabs next week. My LO had a painful lump at the site of injection, which caused a lot of crying at the 48 hour mark. Calpol was very helpful.

Thanks @Cornishbumpkin and @Busylizzie85

Did anyone give calpol before the appointment to get ahead of it? I thought I read that on here but I might have dreamt it Grin

@SRS1311 same as @Cornishbumpkin Ivy was sleepy and grizzly for about 48 hours and cried a lot once the Calpol started to wear off so we had all three doses they recommended.

@SRS1311 Freddie was just out of sorts and a little grizzly for about 48hrs. He did get a very mild temp about 12hrs after having them

Hi all, we have our 8 week jabs on Wednesday...I know some have already been through them...how did you find it? Did you have an unsettled baby for a few days?

Haha yes ladies Dd tipping Lego out of the box ! & Dps crisp packets , or prawn crackers from the Chinese ffs

Feeding is worse than ever his tongue tie has re attached. I won’t lie I may have Googled if its possible for a nipple to actually fall off 😅 we’re seeing the osteopath this week before we have it retreated . We’re still waking 4+ times a night but we are entering leap 3 so who knows. We’ve got next jabs tomorrow it’s all sort of rolling into one. Pehaps when dd is back at school nursery on Thursday (after a LONG 7 months )life will be easier and I can try to sneak in a nap

@MsMiaWallace yes am planning to get one. Nothing exciting but my DD's name and her birth date in Roman numerals IV.VI which also doubles up as mine and my partners initials. Was meant to be Smile

@Magpiefeather agree about the front door. We also have a keypad instead of a normal key hole and the beeps are so loud. Actually I’ve noticed how loud almost everything electronic is these days. The washing machine plays a tune, the kettle beeps, the rice cooker always scares the crap out of baby too. Looking forward to when she’s old enough to be put down for a nap in the bedroom with the door closed.

Omg! The clips on nursing bras! Sometimes I just leave them open. The baby just jumps when I've settled him and try to sort out my bra.
Never realised walking around the flat was so loud. We tip toe (still loud) when he's asleep!
