@Busylizzie85 jj only goes every 3ish days now since around 7 weeks, also still very loose & breastfed .
Your right my gp says totally normal as long it’s not hard/ a struggle to pass

Rinoa · 12/08/2020 21:27

@LillianFullStop I don't think it's the jab wound tbh it looks fine no bruising . Maybe it's the mix of the heat .
@Blizy he's better today, fever subsided but still does the clenching. Seems to be worse when I lay him down. I gave him more calpol and he's settled now. Hope I can put him to bed soon!

Blizy · 12/08/2020 22:18

@Rinoa Rose's reflux has been off the scale today, I'm wondering if it's because of the rota virus vaccine.

mrssunshinexxx · 13/08/2020 01:18

Suppose they are all different @Busylizzie85 xx

Smiffette · 13/08/2020 07:31

My LO is 2 months today, she is Breastfed and stills goes 2-3 times a day every day: it used to be a lot more like 5-6 so definitely reduced.

Gigitree · 13/08/2020 15:25

@mrssunshinexxx thank you, yeah we have a garden with a big umbrella, but I sat under this umbrella with her for a couple of hours one morning a couple of weeks ago and somehow she ended up getting a little sunburnt on her cheek 🙁 I felt so guilty about it, I had no idea babies could get sunburnt in the shade!

Are the snoozeshades sheer? I don’t like the idea of not being able to see her if she’s totally covered.

Oh that sounds like a lovely morning, but I can imagine this must be such a hard time as you were obviously so close to your mum

mrssunshinexxx · 13/08/2020 20:40

@Gigitree no they are black but theee is a zip section at the front so you can see them I got mine yesterday and used it then and today and she fell asleep both times which is
Unheard of unless I've rocked her toseleep in my Arms first.. I think it's because it's nice and dark with the snooze shade x

Gigitree · 13/08/2020 21:00

Ooo that’s fab! I will see about getting one so I can go on lots of walks and not be paranoid about the sun thanks @mrssunshinexxx
Did you get yours from amazon?

mrssunshinexxx · 14/08/2020 02:17

No Facebook market place it was my bosses wife selling it so ended up getting it for free which was nice!

Gigitree · 14/08/2020 11:31

Oh fab that’s so handy!

Hey ladies! It's been a while. Had to read a lot of pages to catch up. It all sounds so familiar.

My LO had his 8 week jabs 3 days ago. Calpol prevented the famous fever. Once it had been 24 hours, I stopped the calpol. He then developed a lump, redness and pain over one of the injection sites yesterday. Cue the screaming cries! Never seen him like that before. He was too uncomfortable to go on the breast because of positioning, so I had to pump and get husband to bottle feed. Was so desperate I called the GP. She was so lovely. She called back even though I had no appt.
Calpol has now essentially sorted the pain and I can see that the redness has settled.

In terms of weight, I got on the weighing scale a week after giving birth, and realised I had gained around 13kg. Was quite demoralising. But I've been on a calorie controlled diet of 1700 to 1800 calories over the last few weeks, and with the help of breastfeeding, I've lost 8 kilos. It is doable, even without exercise. I certainly have been indoors avoiding the heat wave. But I understand calorie counting isn't for everyone.

I echo what some ladies have said above. Very boring if no family or friends nearby to catch up with. We have at least one visitor a week. Something to look forward to!

Look after yourselves ladies xx

Pegase · 14/08/2020 15:11

@Missgemini I have a problem with calorie counting. Easy to do and it works but for some confounded reason I lose all the weight off my chest first- so end up flat chested and still with a tummy!!!

Missgemini · 14/08/2020 15:33

@Pegase oh noo! I'm quite worried about what will become of my boobs in the end :/

Blizy · 14/08/2020 19:41

Hi ladies. How are
You all? I'm hoping Rose has turned a corner and is now a bit less grumpy and not screaming as much. It seems the omeprazole is working, yay! I've posted a pic just because

Pegase · 14/08/2020 19:58

Ah beautiful. Looks happy and healthy! @Missgemini I ended up doing 5:2 in the end to avoid the problem and shift the weight. My weight loss plateaued at an unacceptable level with baby 1!

Missgemini · 14/08/2020 20:18

@Blizy she's such a cutie! Looks very happy :)

@Pegase funnily enough, I did the 5:2 just before I got pregnant. It worked really well. I just don't know if it's even physically possible to do the 5:2 whilst breastfeeding and/or looking after a little one. If you can, then you are super woman in my books! Haha

Pegase · 14/08/2020 20:39

No I waited till I was no longer breastfeeding to do 5:2. Didn't do it very long as it is so exhausting with a little one as you say but it was long enough to kickstart my metabolism.

umabb · 14/08/2020 21:02

@Blizy Rose is so cute! Xx glad her reflux is now settled. Zach has been on Gaviscon for 4 days and it has made a huge difference for him. It's just wonderful to see him guzzling those 5oz bottles of milk. There're still occasions that he refuses a feed but I guess that's when he's not so hungry ! I hope it'll keep on working foe him but knowing there are other options to try I'm more relaxed.
Zach didn't react well to the 8 week vaccines and I'm very nervous for the coming 12wks ones. I read that the 2nd dose of rotavirus oral meds can be done as late as 24 wks so I'm thinking to delay that.

Gigitree · 16/08/2020 09:27

Of those who have successfully introduced a nighttime routine. How did you knew when to implement it? And as baby has to be in the same room as you for all sleeps until 6 months, do you end the bedtime routine with them going to bed in your room or somewhere else, say for example in the living room and then just transfer them later on?

Has anyone’s baby started to have a more consistent nap/sleep cycle. Grace is still all over the place, there’s no particular pattern emerging, apart from she likes to have a mega long snooze in the middle of the day. But I am in two minds whether I should just let her be and have a long snooze or if I should be waking her in the hopes that she will go longer at night?

Mj2196 · 16/08/2020 12:01

@Gigitree we have no nap cycle ! he has witching hours 6-9 and i Either go to bed with him at 9pm or if he falls asleep I just carry him in with us later on. I 100% wouldn’t wake her. I find the better jj sleeps in the day,the easier he is to settle at bedtime. If he fights his naps and doesn’t have enough sleep he gets overtired &the more cranky and unsettled he is come night time

SRS1311 · 16/08/2020 12:57

@Blizy our little one has started omeprazole aswell since Wednesday. Have you noticed if Rose is suffering with constipation? I think the omeprazole is making ours have trouble passing wind / poo. We have just started lactose.

@Mj2196 ours has exactly the same witching hours, its exhausting! He will be 6 weeks tomorrow and has been doing it since week 2 or 3!

Anyone else have much experience of witching hour / colic? Last two nights we have not had the incessant crying/screaming/fussing...am I hoping too much that he might be growing out of it?

Gigitree · 16/08/2020 14:15

@Mj2196 thanks, yeah grace seems to have the same Witching hours too.
I just worry if I don’t wake her then she’ll be awake all night because she’s hungry? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Blizy · 16/08/2020 15:10

@SRS1311 she's not constipated but has terrible trapped wind. I've been putting colief into her bottles too. It seems to help.

APD1981 · 16/08/2020 15:13

@gigitree we introduced a bath/bed time routine at 3 weeks old. It started at 8PM at first but has naturally gotten earlier as he's got used to the routine as he gets tired and wants to go to bed. So now bathtime is usually 6.30, bottle of expressed milk when he gets out then he's usually asleep between 7-7.30. After talking to my sister and some friends about how to put them to bed early without having to go myself I decided to be brave and show common sense and put him in his Next to Me with a camera monitor on him and I come downstairs. I have the app for the monitor on my phone and iPad so I just have the iPad on all the time watching him. For the last 2 weeks we've been able to cook and eat a meal together when he's gone to bed and it's been amazing. I feel I have a bit of my life back. The ipad comes everywhere with me and the image is really good so I can and see and hear him breathing. We go and check regularly too. It's been a game changer for us because, even though I still tend to go to bed 9-9.30, I have a couple of hours in the evening to myself and it's amazing. Freddie is now used to the routine and settles well in bed. If he's not called asleep with his feed he self soothes with a dummy. Hos first stretch of sleep tends to be be 4-5 hours long...I now need to work on keeping him asleep longer after midnight as that's not so good now but I think he's starting to teethe already which isn't helping!
