Without feeding that should day 🤦🏼‍♀️

mrssunshinexxx · 30/07/2020 15:40

@Gigitree it's never happened through the day but I don't on a night time but I gave no concerns about her weight or feeding if I did I would wake her x

Pegase · 30/07/2020 16:41

@Gigitree I would wake her if she was sleeping too long in one stretch in the day. So if she had been asleep over 3 hrs I probably would or not fed for over 4hrs. However this is mainly because I need her to get her feeds in during the day as she does a long stretch without in the first half of the night which I don't want to mess up!

Don't want to give her more at each feed because of the reflux.

Gigitree · 30/07/2020 17:19

Thanks @mrssunshinexxx yeah if it were at night I would just leave her, but it’s in the day so I’m not sure.

@Pegase yeah exactly I wish she would wake every two hours during the day for a feed like she does at night so she can get enough feeds in so she sleeps longer at night!

Millettmum · 30/07/2020 18:23

Anyone found any nice breastfeeding tops?

Mj2196 · 30/07/2020 18:40

@Millettmum Matalan have some nice button shirts , boohoos on the shoulder ones or H&M nursing range . Seraphine are lovely but bit pricey

AndddddHerewegoagain · 30/07/2020 19:26

@Millettmum I just wore scrappy tops as I found them the easiest.

My friend used to put a bandeau top under her normal clothes so she could lift her top up to feed.

Completely forgot the magic of white noise. Dd has been an utter pain at settling today and after her last bottle she was practically asleep in my arms until I put her down then she'd just scream until I picked her up again. Put white noise on the tablet and she instantly stopped crying. Still took her forever to sleep but at least she wasn't screaming!!

Pegase · 30/07/2020 20:06

Stopped bf now but when I was I was looking at this for suitable clothes

There is a FB page also

BabyBird20 · 30/07/2020 20:10

@Millettmum I've been recommended b shirts which you can get as a vest top to wear under any normal top you can then lift up and get access without showing anything off. They also do T-shirt's you can wear on their own. Gap have some lovely nursing tops and dresses too. I need to invest in some more but am currently enormous and dont want to spend a fortune on clothes I hopefully won't stay in for too long. 😬

Amazon do a range of breast feeding tops and dresses called small show. I bought one last week and pretty impressed with it as they're not expensive

I ordered a couple of bits from PatPat and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and fit. Take as little while to deliver but I would recommend for the reasonable prices, there baby and children's clothes are cute as well.

Gigitree · 31/07/2020 13:16

Any advice on how to stop putting so much pressure on myself?
Grace is 6 weeks tomorrow and I keep feeling like I’m getting everything wrong. If she doesn’t sleep I worry she is getting over tired, if she does sleep I worry she’s sleeping too much and needs a feed. I keep thinking I need to implement a night time routine but I don’t know where to start as she sleeps ave eats at different times each day!

Gigitree · 31/07/2020 14:26

Also those with babies with reflux. When do you manage to do play time? Do you do it when they’ve woken up from a nap? Or do you do it after a feed? In which case do you keep them upright for 30mins after a feed and then fit in a quick 10min playtime before they get overtired?

Cornishbumpkin · 31/07/2020 14:29

@Gigitree I feel exactly the same. I'm trying hard to give myself a break (currently undergoing CBT for anxiety disorder too!) I'm trying to ignore what everyone says he SHOULD be doing and acknowledge what works for him. Yes they do need lots of sleep but its not a set in stone amount. If they want to sleep longer they will wake up if they're hungry. Your still in the middle of the 4th trimester so they won't understand routines just yet, we've started having a loose routine of bath at half 8 then feed and bed but I think that is more to give me some control and routine rather than him! Go easy on yourself, your doing a fantastic job! Try and see the good your doing for your little one - any smiles yet? Does she light up when she hears your voice? Is she putting on weight? We are programmed to focussed on the negatives and never treat ourself kindly enough to see all the wonderful good things we are doing. What advice would you give if a friend said these things to you? X

mrssunshinexxx · 31/07/2020 15:03

@Gigitree you are mummy so you know best whatever you are doing is right- trust yourself
No one knows them like we do

Pegase · 31/07/2020 15:23

@Gigitree I would try to go with the flow as much as possible in fourth trimester. I know it is difficult as we want a routine and 3 months is a long old time.

Re: reflux we keep upright for 1hr from start of feed- so prob same as you. Initially playtime was only 5-10 mins and not after every feed. Now we are nearly 7 wks it can be longer but I still don't lie her down. We put her in her bouncy chair or in arms and make faces or chat or today propped her on my bf pillow facing me. Tummy time /play at generally over an hour from feeding for us- so if she is still awake after an hour or if she wakes up early from a nap but it is not time for next feed. How many weeks is your LO?

Pegase · 31/07/2020 15:26

*tummy time or playmat

@Gigitree just seen you said 6 weeks tomorrow. We were 6 weeks on Monday and honestly even these past few days things have started becoming incrementally easier. 6 weeks is a big milestone imo.

Busylizzie85 · 31/07/2020 15:45

@Gigitree we are nearly at 7 weeks and I am still learning what works and what does not! Today I worked out how to breastfeed her with her sitting up leaning on a breastfeeding pillow and she seamed much happier and easily burped afterwards which is a big jump for us as she's never been good at burping and recently has been bringing up milk a lot!

We aren't in a routine as such either at night times the only thing I try and stick to is going up at 9 to put her down. I'm constantly second guessing myself and always wondering if I am doing things wrong but she's putting on weight and smiles at me everyday so I must be doing something right 😊

I'm loving this dress I found for her on what is a very hot sunny day here in the south.

Blizy · 31/07/2020 18:37

@Busylizzie85 that dress is gorgeous, as is your dd!
Rose is 7 weeks now, she's only smiles once, poor wee thing is in too much pain most of the time with bloody reflux. She has a dress on for
The first time today too. She's still very tiny but weighs 7lb 11oz now.

Blizy · 31/07/2020 18:39

@Gigitree we don't fit much of any playtime in, because of reflux. We are either feeding, screaming or sleeping.

Busylizzie85 · 31/07/2020 18:40

Oh bless her @Blizy she is lovely and looks gorgeous in the dress! 😍

Gigitree · 31/07/2020 18:54

Thank you so much everyone! I feel so much better after reading your kind words!

I know exactly what you mean @Blizy that’s how I’ve been feeling that there has barely been an opportunity to give her a bath let alone include play time!
We do seem to have turned a corner on the reflux though so that’s why I think I’m putting so much pressure on myself to make sure I’m fitting in things like playtime and starting routines etc

Pegase · 31/07/2020 20:25

Haha @Blizy that is such an apt description of what the newborn stage has been like with both of my girls (both with reflux) - feeding, sleeping or screaming. As much as possible of the latter seems to be their preference!!! Fortunately I have been able to take it in my stride so much more second time round as I know there's little I can do about it!

MentholChill · 31/07/2020 20:29

Hi All,

How many ounces does your LO one take per feed and how often are they fed?

DS was 7 weeks yesterday and he is taking around 5/6 ounces every 2.5/3hrs.

BabyBird20 · 31/07/2020 20:41

@Gigitree I could've written your post myself! Benji was 7 weeks on Wednesday and I constantly feel like I'm not doing enough with him! I'm always googling what I should be doing and beating myself up about it rather than letting myself enjoy the time I have with him when he is awake and chilled rather than crying or throwing up or fighting his naps!!

Anyone else had a disaster for sleep today? Two half hour naps and now he just won't fall into a deep enough sleep to put down but is getting really hot and sweaty while feeding g and sleeping on me! Argh!! Think tonight may be a long one!!
