@BabyBird20 my LO has had an evening of screaming and still is not fully asleep 😭 this heat is horrid!

BabyBird20 · 31/07/2020 20:57

@Busylizzie85 I've spent most of today shut in a room with fan on and curtains drawn to try and keep cool!! I used to enjoy the sun!!😂😬

Busylizzie85 · 31/07/2020 21:00

@BabyBird20 me to, I used to be able to spend all day in the sun but not any more feel like I am melting 🥵

Smiffette · 31/07/2020 21:24

@Busylizzie85 I feel your pain, my LO started at 5 ish and stopped about 8, luckily bathed and on final Feed before bed now so hoping she sleeps well as she missed her evening nap.

I had her letter through for first jabs today 😟 all booked for the 17th when she will be 9weekz 2 days, unfortunately the clinic the week before isn't on.

Blizy · 31/07/2020 21:37

@Pegase second time reflux mum too, my ds who is 5 is still under his Paed as he STILLS suffers from reflux! I need to call the GP on Monday, Rose really needs some decent meds now, she has gavison but it's crap..

@MentholChill my dd is 7 weeks and feeds 3-40z every 3 - 4 hours.

Gigitree · 31/07/2020 22:30

I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling this way too @BabyBird20 but at the same time it’s nice to know I’m not alone in feeling like this
I think I’m going to ban myself from googling things for a few days, reading all about what i SHOULD be doing is just making me feel like shit tbh

Yes sleep has been a disaster here too she barely slept since 5pm and now she won’t go into a deep enough sleep to be put into her cot 😩

Pegase · 31/07/2020 22:41

@MentholChill 750ml in total daily approx - I make up 7 x 5oz bottles in each 24hr period but she will usually take 3-4 oz

once or twice a day she might take 4.5 oz.

Nearly 7 weeks.

Mj2196 · 31/07/2020 22:41

@Gigitree I’m with you on not feeling like I’m doing enough . I tend to just lie him on his play mat and talk to him . Dd chatters along to him anytime he’s awake though and has a thing for waving toys in his face lol. We’ve tried Tummy time he just throws his head about makes me worry for his neck !

J is 8 weeks old tomorrow time is flying . He’s had an evening nap for once so no doubt we’ll be up all night feeding now 🤣 feeling nervous about our tongue tie separation tomorrow.

@pegase @blizy thanks very much for your replies, seems like I have one hungry/greedy little boy!

BabyBird20 · 01/08/2020 03:51

We've been awake every hour since midnight, happy days 😳😴😴😴 so while I'm up again am doing yet another amazon shop!
What toys have you all got for your little ones? I need to invest in some more as have barely any yet. We have a play gym but he's only interested in a mirror and a black and white rattle at the moment!

UKtoSK · 01/08/2020 04:03

We’re still struggling on the daytime naps front although she was much better yesterday and has had two good sleeps on me so far today. She has been sleeping really well at night, from about 9 or 10pm til 6am with three feeds in between. We play white noise all night long and I think that helps. We also found a YouTube video of “womb sounds” with shushing and that helped her with her daytime naps yesterday.

This is the one we’ve been using in the day And this one at night
APD1981 · 01/08/2020 08:40

Morning everyone

I've been a bit off the radar as my phone threw a wobble a couple of weeks ago and so I've had to sort of start again with it, gradually putting apps back on to try and see what screwed it up.

Anyway, I've caught up with all your posts. So sorry some of you are struggling with your C section healing. Those who think a C section is the "easy way out" really have absolutely no idea how hard it is, do they?! I really hope you all heal fully soon so you can get out with your prams x

And to those of you with babies suffering from reflux- it sounds awful and so hard to see your precious baba in pain. It (hopefully) won't last forever though.

My Freddie is doing really well. He was 8 weeks yesterday and has his post natal GP check on Wednesday where he weighed a whopping 12lbs 3oz. He's between 50th and 75th centile for everything though which has made me feel better as I thought he was gaining too quickly! I'm still exclusively breastfeeding but I express 2 feeds a day for him that his dad gives him so I get a rest in the evenings. He's really good at going to sleep after his bath and bottle and will sleep about 4-5 hours downstairs with his dad whilst I go to bed and get a good stretch of sleep too. He then feeds him again around 12-1 and bring him up to me for the night. He goes in his crib now with no issue and sleeps all night aside from 2 more feeds usually. Can't complain! He's absolutely rubbish at daytime naps though and is a right grump by 5PM so we've been bringing bath time earlier and earlier because he's so tired. I'm trying to encourage naps more and it is starting to improve a bit. I highly recommend an evening bathtime routine. It has really helped Freddie start to recognise when it's night time and sleep time because he sleeps all night apart from his feeds.

I'm going to try and attach a photo but it's never worked for me on mumsnet before so it may not appear. He's full.of smiles now and it just melts my heart.

Hope you all survived the heat yesterday. I'm glad it was short lived, to be honest! X

Oooh my photo worked for the first time ever!

BabyBird20 · 01/08/2020 12:29

That sounds amazing @APD1981 and he is gorgeous!! What time do you start your bath time and what forms your routine? We haven't managed to get into a routine yet!! Does he sleep in a Moses basket downstairs or on your husband? Benji is 8 weeks on weds and I have noticed some really positive changes so hoping to crack bedtime soon!

Blizy · 01/08/2020 12:42

@APD1981 Freddie is gorgeous!
Looks like I'm joining the not quite healed c section crew. I have an undesolved stitch at the end of my wound, it's been quite nippy the last couple of days but this morning it's a bit smelly and was bleeding/leaking fluid. Rose's reflux has got much worse over yesterday and today, I feel so helpless. Can't believe we are doing the reflux thing again...
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

APD1981 · 01/08/2020 12:54

@babybird20 we started it at 8PM at first but last week brought it to 7pm. The last couple of nights it's been even earlier at 6.15 and 6.30 because he's so tired from not napping much in the day. Our routine goes like this:

In the bath and we line up his little toys on the side of the bath and tell him his bath book story (same one every night!). Then hubby dries and dresses him whilst I heat a bottle of expressed milk. Hubby feeds it to him downstairs (dim lights, all curtains closed) and I read him a story. We then put him in the carry cot of his pram and either put him by the tumble dryer/washing machine/dishwasher or use a white noise app. He will then just settle himself to sleep. Sometimes takes a while but he usually does it. I escape to bed then and get a good 4 hours solid sleep most of the time!

Gigitree · 01/08/2020 13:04

@APD1981 he settles himself to sleep!? 🤯🤯 he sounds like an angel that’s incredible that he can do that already!

I really want to start a bedtime/bath time routine but I’m really struggling to do it as if we do it after she has woken up from a nap then she is cranky because she wants a bottle, how do you know when do start it? Or does he wake up from an nap and not want a bottle immediately?

Gigitree · 01/08/2020 13:04

Sorry not a bottle, just a feed in general

BabyBird20 · 01/08/2020 13:25

@APD1981 he sounds like a dream!! Love the idea of a bath book with toys, hadn't occurred to me to read him a story then. What hook do you read him? I've tried reading to him but usually he just wants boob. Maybe an expressed bottle will help with that and give us a chance to get a bit of routine!

Pegase · 01/08/2020 14:19

So sorry @Blizy. Get on to the GP sharpish re: C section incision as it has been a long healing time for all of us who have had problems with it.

mrssunshinexxx · 01/08/2020 17:13

@APD1981 couldn't agree more about bedtime routine Nelly is an angel through the night but can be hard to encourage day time naps but getting much better at this
C section defo not an easy option especially after 26 hours in labour

He's cute!! Here's my little miss

@mrssunshinexxx she's amazing - such a beautiful young lady! Love her little dress ! @APD1981 Freddie is doing so well ! Love his biiiiiig smile xxx lovely to hear from you!

A quick report from me too. Zach is doing well with bottle feeding - still not keen on boobs so having to express 8 times days most of the time. I just finally cracked the day times naps by immediately patting and rocking him and humming a song to sleep + white noise if necessary - as soon as I saw the sleepy cue - usually within 45 mins that he's been awake for - a lot shorter than I thought. He'd respond with a little fight and close his eyes and I put him down when half awake. Again another little fight and I usually hold his arms and in 5 mins he'll close eyes again and fall asleep! He can have 4 naps during the day with one solid 2 hours long. Evening nap usually is harder as it's his fussy time but it usually gives us back 3-4 hours sleep and he can sleep through the night with 1-2 feeds. Can't complain!

Poor him just had his first immunisation though and gone off milk for a couple of days. Not easy to get any milk in him and we had to do more small feeds and feed him half asleep to keep him hydrated to survive the last two hot days. Finally today his appetite seems to pick up again. Phew !

Hope all of you are well xx

mrssunshinexxx · 01/08/2020 19:19

Thank you @umabb 💕

Blizy · 02/08/2020 13:22

Does anyone use a sleepyhead? I'm very tempted to buy one for day time naps, I'm desperate and need to get her to sleep somewhere else that's not on me during the day. I feel so guilty for my 5 year old, he's been neglected due to his high needs sister!

Busylizzie85 · 02/08/2020 13:34

@Blizy we use a pureflo which is similar and my little one has happily slept in that during the day and I have a friend also who uses a sleepyhead and her little boy loves it.
