@HaichMal I'm sorry to hear you're having such a tough time too. It's so awful having something extra on top of normal breastfeeding which is bloody hard!! I had no idea how challenging it would be! Have you joined the breastfeeding support groups on Facebook? You will be able to get loads of advice at any time of day on there and they are really supportive!! My muscles are the same too, I find it really difficult changing his nappy stood at the changing table without my back hurting!! Ouch!!

Pegase · 06/07/2020 18:00

@HaichMal sorry to hear you have thrush as well but well done if you are still
Managing to feed with it as that was the final straw for me. Is your bubs on the nystatin drops?

I am now on oral antibiotics for c section incision and a new thrush treatment and baby has developed horrendous nappy rash which she has been given a prescription cream for - we should be earning frequent flyer air miles at the pharmacy!

Baby has been a bit more settled the last few days in the day time at least which has helped me feel better. Mostly surviving because DH is helping a ridiculous amount with everything (while still working FT) in order to keep me on an even keel. You wouldn't think this was my second! Although some of these feelings are exactly the same as I had with DD1 in the first three months so maybe is just hormonal.

Can't believe some people have hit the one month mark already!!

Gigitree · 06/07/2020 20:38

Thanks for the tips @APD1981
We were going to give colief a try but the instructions say to make up a formula feed and add the drops but then wait 30mins before giving it to baby!? We’re feeding on demand so I can’t imagine waiting 30mins before giving her a feed! She would scream the house down! 😩😩

APD1981 · 07/07/2020 00:13

I think it just means wait until the formula is the right temp to give to the baby. Just add it to warm formula and it should be ok x

Gigitree · 07/07/2020 02:14

Thank you @APD1981 ♥️

MsMiaWallace · 07/07/2020 10:21

Hi guys,
Has anyone else's LO's had sticky eye?
DS is 15 days now & we've had this for almost a week.

Gigitree · 07/07/2020 11:42

Yeah @MsMiaWallace my LO has had this since about day 3 and she’s now 17 days old and it’s just starting to get better now.
We’ve been using cooled boiled water and cotton wool to wipe it. The midwives also recommended using breastmilk if you can, I wasn’t producing much so we’re on formula - but I did manage to express a dribble of milk onto some cotton wool so I have used that a couple of times.

umabb · 07/07/2020 11:50

@APD1981 @Mj2196 I'm really jealous! Zach does 1or 2 2-3 hours of sleep overnight and then followed by loads of 1 hour sleeps. He is super windy so needs a lot of time burping him after each feed too otherwise he won't settle. Tried infacol and colief - didn't seem to work very well for us I guess every baby is different. He's sort of going through a growth spurt too and feeding hourly during the day. Exhausted mama 🤪

@MsMiaWallace Zach had very sticky right eye for a couple of weeks. The baby doctor said it's quite normal just wipe it. It slowly recorded now all good not too worry x

BabyBird20 · 07/07/2020 12:26

@umabb this is what we have with Benji! He'll do a nice 3 hour sleep at 7 pm usually when I've bit had dinner so I have to choose between eating or sleeping when he does. On a really good nights he'll do a feed then 2 hours but more often than not it's hourly over night then no naps in the morning and feeding on and off til after lunchtime!! Argh!!

We've also got the sticky eye and trying to do milk on cotton wool to clean it!

I've just had a lactation consultation which was bought for me as a new baby gift by a friend! She was so lovely and reassuring and gave me lots of tips to try and reduce the nipple and breast pain I'm getting and prevent the mastitis returning!! I've been so close to giving up this weekend, this has given me some determination to keep trying a bit longer!

Pegase · 07/07/2020 14:11

Was thinking about trying Colief but acc to their own video, you do need to leave the milk for thirty minutes for the enzyme to operate!!! There is a video for bf as well on their channel

mrssunshinexxx · 07/07/2020 14:26

@BabyBird20 what a lovely idea for a gift
Don't give up- you've totally got this x

Mj2196 · 07/07/2020 14:55

@BabyBird20 we have the coughing and spluttering & stiffness . We call it concrete pose lol, I have a fast let down though . He cluster feeds between 6pm and 9 to get settled for bed. My dp doesn’t get home from work while 7.30pm so I’m used to eating one handed now 🤣

@umabb he is the same in the day will only nap on me ,cries unless on boob . We’re getting a good 6 hours altogether at night though so I have the energy to cope . It’s just dd I feel for I’m sat feeding or walking and rocking baby . She was the opposite slept all day cried all night !

Gigitree · 07/07/2020 15:43

Oh gosh @Pegase I guess we can probably try the waiting 30 mins for day feeds If we can be a bit ahead of her, but It’s going to be so hit and miss - think we’re going to persevere with infacol for the time being!

I don’t understand why you have to wait 30 mins for formula though and not breastmilk 🤷🏼‍♀️

Magpie21 · 07/07/2020 17:08

Hello, my LO has very sticky eyes (Day 8) l, we have been using saline and a cotton pad to clear. I also heard about using breast milk today, so I will try that instead.

I'm trying to express my breast milk, as my LO has jaundice and I want to know she is taking in enough volume. Struggling a bit with my supply, has anyone experienced the same and have any advice?

Also, my LO sometimes struggles with the Bottle and almost pulls away from it. Did anyone else notice this?

Hope everyone is well. I'm about to try and have a nap!

Pegase · 07/07/2020 17:29

I wouldn't worry overly about the jaundice- have you had the jaundice tests done? Presumably levels are below intervention threshold?

If you do want to express though, kellymom has loads of good advice.

AndddddHerewegoagain · 07/07/2020 19:28

Today has not been a good day. After an amazing night dd has screamed all day, only slept in my arms and not fed well (still had wet and dirty nappies so not concerned) glad ds was at nursery today for everyones sake.

Just got her bedtime bottle down after lots more screaming so hoping for silence now and for noone to touch me. Tempted to down a bottle of wine 😂

AmyMaria2 · 07/07/2020 22:46

Congratulations on all the beautiful babies!! Many people still waiting now? Good luck!!

Ace is 8 weeks today, we have real smiles now😍 I've stopped breast feeding for various reasons but he is still putting on weight and is now 11.7lbs!!!
first injections Friday! I'll definitely be more anxious than him, poor baby 💙

@pegase Thank you. That's helpful.

@AmyMaria2 wow! 8 weeks. Ace is a lovely little boy. He looks so alert and happy. I'm so excited for smiles from my daughter! Hope the injections go well, it will be over really quickly and then he'll just need some extra mummy cuddles. May I ask how you have found formula feeding? I'm doing breast and formula at the moment but my supply is so bad I think I will be solely feeding formula in a matter of time. I have been using Aptimal 1.

AmyMaria2 · 07/07/2020 23:36

@Magpie21 I was formula and breast as well. I have really low supply due to having PCOS. I was pumping to increase supply which worked for a while, I've only stopped this week so I'm glad he had a good 8 weeks of breast milk. He's now on cow n gate formula, he has 4oz every 3 hours, he seems to love it & he always burps well and isn't a sicky baby at all.
Have you tired pumping to increase breast milk? X

Magpie21 · 08/07/2020 02:15

@AmyMaria2 I invested in a double pump and I am just going to pump, pump, pump to increase my supply. Did you put baby on the boobs much for helping to increase the supply? (I heard that is a good). My daughter doesn't appear to be a sicky baby but she is only a week and 2 days old so it might be too soon to tell. Did it take you long to burp the baby in The beginning? Xx

AmyMaria2 · 08/07/2020 02:29

@Magpie21 definitely pump pump pump! He went to the boob a lot anyway, and I pumped but my supply just didn't really increase and he got to hungry! He's always burped very well, I sit him on my lap to burp, lots of back rubbing, you can also move them In a circular motion then burp, that usually gets it up x
Bet she's so tiny still! Enjoy all the cuddles🥰x

Millettmum · 08/07/2020 04:00

Baby Ella was born Sunday morning at 8:06 weighing 6lb 8oz.

Using nipple shields already as they are in agony but pumping well and I think milk just coming in. Feeding lots so very little sleep.

mrssunshinexxx · 08/07/2020 04:24

Congrats @Millettmum do you have some lansinoh nipple cream it's amazing BLATHER IT ON - v regular x

Magpie21 · 08/07/2020 06:29

@AmyMaria2 Thank you for the info! Oh yes, she is so small and precious 🥰

@Millettmum Congratulations! Hope all is going well for you. I can second the Lanosh cream - I bought one for the bedroom and one for the living room. My nipples healed up in 2 days by giving expressing online and not having the baby on the boob.

Question for anyone: when did you start using nappy cream and which one? I have been using water and wool (and water wipes for bad poos). My LO's bum doesn't look sore, so I haven't put it on yet. Just wondered if people had done as a preventative measure.

Millettmum · 08/07/2020 06:31

@mrssunshinexxx thank you!
I do have some, obviously not putting it on enough.
