Still waiting for my little man to arrive but starting a thread ready. Can't wait to catch up with all the other May 20 mums.

Huge congratulations to those who have already met their little ones. It's been quite a scary time to face giving birth recently and you've all done amazingly.

I can finally graduate to this thread!

I ended up agreeing to an induction yesterday morning at 41+6 as felt like I was starting to stress more about going over the fabled 42w mark. Pessary was in at 10:45am and contractions started at 3:30pm. By 8pm I was 8cm and gave birth just after midnight - without any drip and used TENS and gas and air. Needed ventouse in the final stretch but I was happy for it as was getting tired of pushing!
So anyway here we have our May 21 due date baby on June 4th 😀

Clairesoph · 04/06/2020 05:37

Hi all! I went awol for two weeks just trying to adjust to life with two kids and recover from my section! Thankfully feeling almost normal again, just keeping topped up with pain killers. My Tommy is a little angel, very content feeding 2-3 hours in the day and stretching 4 hours at night. He finally lost his manky cord (I hate them so much!) and is just creeping into his up to 1 month wardrobe although still a little baggy 🥺 his big brother will be 2 next month so trying to prep for that too. He loves his new baby and my heart is so full, I was adamant that two kids was me done but now I'm not convinced 😟 how could I not want a newborn all over again!? Pic of my two boys just because! I hope you're all keeping well and settled into life as Mumma xxxx

@woollycat Congratulations! Brilliant update. Glad it went so well (and quite quickly) for you. Enjoy your first day together. Get a good nap in today whilst she's so drowsy.

@Clairesoph that's such a lovely photo. It's lovely when they like each other! Especially when you've spent 9 months worrying if they will! I'm impressed you're already wanting another though!

Naughtysausage · 04/06/2020 07:00

@helpasisterout I'm only a week pp, and I'm doing random collections of squeezes just to remember where they are. But I'm not ready for the app yet!

Clairesoph · 04/06/2020 07:11

@Naughtysausage My c section recovery has been such a breeze compared with my first natural birth, It's got me under a false sense of security 😅 I wouldn't do it again for Atleast 3 years but I'm not writing it off! Even though whilst I was having the section done I was crying and repeating "no more babies!" Hahaha

Raindancer411 · 04/06/2020 08:07

Hi all, sorry I also went AWOL. I was induced at 40+6 as of reduced movement and went in on a Sunday lunch time but wasn't able to be induced until the Monday afternoon. I was 2cm on going in so they just planned to break my waters. Gave me 4hrs to start labouring myself but ended up with the drip. Then boy was it fast and intense!! The midwife wasn't listening to me when I said I felt a burning and wanted to push. She didn't think baby would be born same day and said I would be checked at 1:40am. I had a friend with me who took over as I was out of it on the gas and air. Poor women got to see me in all my glory 😂 Hopefully I havent scarred her.

Anyway 2hrs from drip and my ljttle girl was born. They all said it was so fast and I didn't tear this time. I did however need a drip for 4 hrs to stem any chance of a haemorrhage that I had with my first.

Meet Wren, born 9:41pm on May 25th at 7lb 8oz and long!!! Lol

Caspianberg · 04/06/2020 08:34

@May2311 - would she take 4-5oz every 3 hrs in the daytime instead of 4hr? I think their stomachs are only about the size of a walnut at 4 weeks, so too many oz in one sitting might give her cramps or cause vomiting

Congratulations to all the new arrivals.

If its any hope to those with babies only a few days or week old, we are 4 weeks and 4 days old here, and theres already lots of changes in the last week or two.
His nappies have settled down, he now sleeps 4-5 hrs stretch for first part of the night (ie last night slept 10pm-2.30am, 3-5am 6am-8am)which even 2 weeks ago felt like would be months away (he still feeds every 90mins-2hrs daytime though).
And in the last day or so seems to see more, coo a bit, and can be put down 10 mins on the floor (used to be 10seconds!)

So basically, when things seem never-ending, change really can happen in days at this age

november90 · 04/06/2020 09:51

Awwww it's SO lovely to hear all the new arrivals and birth stories! ❤️ congratulations everyone!! It doesn't feel like yesterday now that I was sharing my bfp on the old thread and now look at us ☺️

My little boys rash is so much worse. I've had him at the doctors 3 days in a row and I keep getting told it's a baby rash but I'm so worried :( I'll share a photo, sorry if it's a bit much! Has anyone else experienced this?

May2311 · 04/06/2020 10:30

@caspianberg - would you recommend waking her to feed 3hrly instead? She tends to just wake herself every 4hours ish at the moment apart from in the night she goes a little longer. Sorry to ask so many questions about it- health visitor didn't give me much advice when I asked her about it 🙄 other than just feed her when she wants feeding but I don't want to over feed! My other thinking was just keep her on 5oz as she has been doing apart from her night feed five her 6oz to see if she will take it as that's when she goes for longer( 5ish hours) xxx

@november90 aww poor little man! It does look sore- if your not happy with what the GP has said push and ask to be seen again. Is he still ok in himself? He is on antibiotics isn't he? I would have thought they would have kicked in by now- perhaps he needs a different type. Xxx

november90 · 04/06/2020 10:36

@May2311 I'm taking him back today! I also rang up yesterday but they wouldn't see him and asked I sent photos in! I agree the antibiotics are definitely making no difference. It looks soooo soar, surely they can't just leave him like that when it's getting worse daily 😬

May2311 · 04/06/2020 13:37

@november90 oh good! Hopefully they will get him sorted. Let us know how you get on. Xxx

Lu1u · 04/06/2020 13:50

@may2311 I would keep giving what you are giving her for the moment, and when she starts waking up sooner because she is hungry that's a good indicator to increase the amount of formula! Hope you get on with the carrier, it's honestly made my life a billion times easier since I got it ☺️

Raindancer411 · 04/06/2020 14:09

@november90 What is he on? Breast milk or formula? Does he suffer from reflux, colic or diarrhoea? I only ask and if a baby is sensitive to milk protein, it can cause skin issues.

My first born has a dairy allergy. He never got anything like that but did have bad reflux as a baby on breast milk

Lu1u · 04/06/2020 18:00

@woollycat congrats! It sounds like you coped brilliantly with the induction, hope you are both doing ok. Are you at home now or in hospital?

november90 · 04/06/2020 19:59

@Raindancer411 he's breast fed! I was open to giving him formula to top him up if needed, as I did that with my first, but he hasnt needed it yet so he's only ever had breast milk! I was worried about a dairy allergy actually as my nephew has just been diagnosed with one so my sister has had to go dairy free! I'd be devastated to have to give up my Cadbury's 🙈

So I went to the doctors who sent me to hospital. He was seen by 2 consultants, one of which was a senior one who said he's worked on the kiddies ward for over 30 years which made me feel so reassured! He knew what it was straight away. He said that sometimes baby's get a condition where their skin has almost an allergic reaction to the air and atmosphere after being born as they've been in water their whole lives! He said it should go within a month or so and will probably get worse before better 😩 apparently the spots gave it away! I did ask him about food allergies and he said they doesn't present themselves in this way so I was selfishly really pleased about that! He told me to use perfume free moisturiser and bath wash to help sooth it. I know they say to not use product on baby skin at this age (3 weeks) but that's the advise they gave me so I've given him a bath in the perfume free soothing aveeno baby wash and same moisturiser and shifted him up to his 0-3 baby grows so it's baggier/comfier and hoping there may be some improvement in the morning!
The poor little guy, he's already had an ICU stint and now this! But they told me that he won't be in any discomfort and the rash effects the mothers not the baby!!!

The consultants were sooooo nice! I'm so lucky to have had such lovely hospital experiences with this one. I feel like sending them all chocolates 🙈

Sorry for the massive paragraph 🙈

helpasisterout · 04/06/2020 21:42

How long did it take for the cord to come away from your babies? I am really squeamish about knocking it accidentally so can't wait for it to come off! 🤣

Moongirl10 · 04/06/2020 22:35

@helpasisterout My baby’s fell out on day 5 :)

AlmostAlwyn · 05/06/2020 08:10

@november90 that's a relief! Though not great for you to have to go through it! As long as he's comfortable, hopefully it'll clear up soon.

@helpasisterout my first baby's fell off around 4 days, this time it was more like 6 or 7? It wasn't that long ago but already I don't remember Grin

May2311 · 05/06/2020 08:46

@November90 so glad that they have reassured you and diagnosed it. Hopefully it will start clearing in the next couple of days. I've never heard of it before poor little man. Haha you made me giggle about your Cadbury comment- at least you don't have to give it up! I'm living on choccie at the moment - it's so easy to grab and eat when tired 🤣

@helpasisterout - day 7 it came off- I think it can be upto a couple of weeks for some though. I was really conscious about knocking it off as well 😂

Caspianberg · 05/06/2020 10:27

@november90 - glad someone looked at it properly, its far redder than the spots we have here. Another thought, have all his clothes been washed since bought, or if washed not on a quick wash?(not long enough wash can leave cleaning residue still). Maybe try washing a few vests and sleepsuits in just water for a week or so.
I guess its just a time thing for now if its not hurting him.

Our Midwife recommended Weleda products for skin issues. She told us to bath only once per week for now as he was peeling lots after bath. We are now using weleda bath stuff once per week in bath, just a cloth with plain water in between, and weleda baby oil to go over peeling areas after his bath. Gave him a bath this am, peeling again... seems to take another 3-4 days after to stop.

@May2311 - I am waking my baby (but breastfeed) if he hasn't fed for 3 hrs in the day. He tends to go only 90mins-2hrs mostly daytime anyway, but has been doing longer stretches overnight, so maybe this will help? Waking to feed between 7am and 9pm maybe, then can leave her overnight to whenever she wakes, knowing shes had plenty within 24hrs if she does go 4/5/6 hrs overnight. Theres no harm in offering 6oz though now and seeing if she copes with it, you can always change it back if so.

Delbelleber · 05/06/2020 10:46

@helpasisterout day 16 for the cord here! I was told it was cut short and that it can take longer because of that.

@november90 glad you got some answers for the spots.

We are doing OK here. I gave a formula top up for the first time yesterday and today. Felt like a big deal to me but my nipples needed a break from constant feeding. He wants to feed pretty much all the time. He does sleep as well but takes a big feeding session to get him settled. Anyway he took the formula not even batting an eye lid it wasn't his usual mummy milk and conked out afterwards for a big sleep.

Caspianberg · 05/06/2020 11:20

@Delbellber- Ds hasn't been bothered by odd bottle of formula here either. Seems to take the same as breast. Only thing I have found is my boobs hurt if I have missed a full feed, so tend to try and offer a small bottle if he has had a short feed from me, then wants more an hr later. Have been giving one 2oz bottle every other day on average the last 2 weeks so he is used to bottle.

goosious · 05/06/2020 12:07

Hi everyone,

Hope it's okay to join the group though a little late!

My baby girl Isabelle arrived 20/05/20 at 40+4 at 7lb 7. I'm breast feeding at the moment and though it didn't start well we've gotten used to it and she's 400g above her birth weight at day 12!

Definitely feeling the baby blues at the moment. Izzy is not a good sleeper and just seems to be all over the place, it's a constant battle to either get her to wake up from a nap or to get her to sleep when she's overtired and I'm really worried about my partner returning to work next week and having to do it all without the support network I was expecting to have.

Would love to hear from anyone with tips how to help a 2/3 week old with her sleep! At the moment I'm trying to limit awake time and for her not to sleep too much during the day but there is so much conflicting advice and am just not sure if what I'm doing is right Confused

Lu1u · 05/06/2020 13:41

@november90 awh so pleased you finally got to the bottom of it, atleast you know he shouldn't be uncomfortable too whilst it clears up!

@clairsoph gorgeous picture! I keep trying to get some of my two together but they just look feral/one will be crying/looking the wrong way 😂

@raindancer411 hope you are doing ok, Wren is such a pretty name ☺️

Lu1u · 05/06/2020 13:53

Welcome @goosious! Sleep deprivation is quite frankly horrific, my first was a terrible sleeper and unfortunately only started sleeping through the night just before this baby arrived (he is almost 2!!) So I have been sleep deprived for about 2 years now and no sign of that stopping any time soon 😅

Not sure if I can offer any advice but
I think sleep/baby sleep is quite a difficult topic as every baby is different and what works brilliantly for one will not work at all for another so I think it's all just trial and error and also a huge amount of luck whether they are a good sleeper or not - so don't beat yourself up! Try to look after yourself, the constant sleep battle is mentally and physically exhausting especially with the baby blues added into the mix.
