Still waiting for my little man to arrive but starting a thread ready. Can't wait to catch up with all the other May 20 mums.

Huge congratulations to those who have already met their little ones. It's been quite a scary time to face giving birth recently and you've all done amazingly.

I weighed my little girl and from 8lb 12oz at birth, 3 weeks 3 days on she is now 9lb 11.8oz!!

AlmostAlwyn · 19/06/2020 02:23

@Caspianberg I think babies can start to "stock up" before sleeping a longer stretch at night. Their stomachs are small so they get full quickly, but breast milk is also digested quickly, so they fill up their system with several smaller feeds so they can sleep for a bit longer. It is kind of annoying though! Grin

@november90 don't worry, you can't overfeed a breastfed baby Smile

Raindancer411 · 19/06/2020 07:12

Anyone else finding that after they go to the loo, when they move they 'wet' themselves a bit?

november90 · 19/06/2020 08:48

Girls my lb is and always has been a sucky baby. Sick after most feeds and even randomly later. He is fine weight wise and only unsettled when tired! Should I be worried? My first was never sick so I just don't know when to worry!

May2311 · 19/06/2020 10:17

@Raindancer411 I don't have an issue with that but struggling with pain where I was cut when I have bowel movement(sorry if tmi)- I also have bleeding after bowel movement. Going to speak to GP at postnatal check. Have you been doing pelvic floor exercises?

My LO sleeps really well over night- usually 10-3.30 and then 4.15- 7.45/8- I really cannot complain but I am still shattered!! I think I need to learn to switch off as I feel like I just doze as thinking about her and if she is ok. Hoping as time goes on I get better at that!!

How is everyone else's little ones sleeping? Xxx

Emmacb82 · 19/06/2020 12:24

@november90 it might be that he has a touch of reflux. But if he’s gaining weight well and not unsettled with it then don’t worry. Most babies grow out of it when they begin weaning.

As for sleep, we hardly get any here! The first part of the night is best, can sometimes get 4 hours if we are lucky. But from about 3am, it’s literally cat naps until we get up at 7 ish, and he doesn’t sleep at all during the day unless I manage to rock him to sleep for an hour. It’s all consuming and finding it very hard at the moment. My poor 4 year old gets hardly any of my time unless I put Noah down and let him cry for a few minutes.

Raindancer411 · 19/06/2020 15:03

@May2311 Yes I am trying to stop myself whenever I go to the loo. Not sure if it's as it's my second, but I didn't have this issue with the first. My husband has read that you can get kegel balls so may have to look at those.

Sleep wise is awful lol usually goes down at 1am. Then sleeps until 9am. She has started to do longer stunts awake.

Emmacb82 · 19/06/2020 15:36

@Raindancer411 I know the not sleeping till 1am is painful but I’m so jealous of the 8 hour stretch you then get!

Delbelleber · 19/06/2020 15:50

@Emmacb82 that sounds tough with no napping in the day.

My baby sleeps pretty well in the day. At night he seems to sleep for a couple of hours at a time then feeds. He's in the bed with me so I can doze while he feeds and I have to change sides every so often. Then I'm not sure what time but I think about 4am he starts getting bothered by wind and starts making all these noises like he's straining like urrrrrrrrgh and this goes on till morning when I get up and change his nappy. Give him a bottle because I feel like he's been feeding off me all night and have my breakfast . Then he settles back down for a sleep. Sometimes I go back to sleep or sometimes use the time to have a bath. He sometimes gets a bath in the morning as well depending how awake he is and then he goes back to sleep after.

May2311 · 19/06/2020 16:05

Isn't it so strange how different all babies are with sleep! Although mine sleeps well at night she only usually has 1 proper nap a day (2ish hours) then nana naps in between lol.

My Pilates teacher recommended those kegal balls saying they really helped her so defo worth a look! Xx

Emmacb82 · 19/06/2020 19:10

I’m starting to wonder if I’ve got latch problems as Noah is never satisfied after feeds. He literally goes from side to side feeding and doesn’t stop until he’s tired himself out. Then naps for max half hour and then it starts again. I’m wondering if he’s never emptying my breasts and is never having a full feed in one go.
It’s so bloody hard with no feeding clinics to go to. It’s all very well talking to someone on the phone but not the same as face to face help. Some days I’m so close to giving up 🙁

november90 · 19/06/2020 19:38

My first was an absolute shocking sleeper as a baby.. he would get up hourly and I'm not exaggerating in the slightest! I fed him to sleep until he was about 17 months old.. and even now at 3.5 years he will get up 1/2 times a night! I think I'm just so use to broken sleep now! I can be up with M at about 10pm, Midnight, 3am, 5am and then 7am then he'll have a long morning nap on his tummy when I can keep an eye on him! I normally put him in my bed next to me at about 5am which I know I shouldn't do but that's when I start feeling desperate haha!

@Emmacb82 it really is SO draining when it's like that and it makes me think of my eldest as he was such a milk monster.. he would feed every 1.5 or so hours day and night :( are you feeling soar at all? Would you top him up with a bottle at all? I did that when I was desperate!

I'm freaking myself out about dairy allergy. I don't know why I'm dwelling on it, I just am. I text my Hv today and both her and the DJ sultanas don't think he has an allergy but the spots and the spitting up is just panicking me! I would obviously go dairy free but I know I'd struggle and it's stressed me out all day 😩 anyone else punish themselves by worrying needlessly? 🤦🏼‍♀️

november90 · 19/06/2020 19:39

DJ sultanas 😂😂😂 that was meant to say consultant hahaha!

Emmacb82 · 19/06/2020 20:30

Sometimes I do get sore, I think his latch is quite lazy and often he slips down the nipple and isn’t on properly. I should take him off and re-attach but I don’t always. I don’t know, I’ve just sat and fed him for over an hour and he’s hysterical as if he’s had nothing 🤷🏼‍♀️ So he’s having a bottle now. He normally ends up having a bottle in the evenings as I’ve had enough.

Try not to stress. If the consultant is happy with him then I’m sure he’s fine. Is he having diarrhoea? If he’s gaining weight well and generally settled and the rash is getting better then I don’t think you need to worry. Btw I love the typo DJ sultana 🤣🤣

Delbelleber · 19/06/2020 22:05

Mine is the same feeding @Emmacb82. I'm giving him a few bottles usually 3oz or 4oz a time during the day but I'm always breast feeding first and generally whenever! I feel he would be fussing at the breast all day otherwise. I didn't have any trouble keeping up with the demands of feeding my last baby but come to think of it I was taking fenugreek capsules which apparently help milk supply.

@november90 we still have the spots here. All over chest and tummy and face. I think the face looks slightly better.
Dj sultana Grin

november90 · 19/06/2020 22:08

@Delbelleber oh bless you! How long have they been lingering for? They really have died down on M but there is still quite a lot scattered around his nappy line, neck, shoulders and back! But I suppose they are hot spots aren't they. I hope your little lovey is doing ok with them ❤️

@Emmacb82 do you think he could have reflux or collie? I don't know much about the conditions so sorry if I am well off! I just know they can make baby's frustrated and effect feeding!

Delbelleber · 19/06/2020 22:17

I think he's had the spots about 2-3 weeks now. Doesn't seem to be bothered by them. He's 5 weeks old now. Can't believe how quickly it's gone since he was born.

Raindancer411 · 19/06/2020 23:21

@november90 My first born has a dairy allergy so if you have any questions I will try and help. As a baby my son gained weight but was slow (can see that now comparing to my second born). He projectile vomited after feeds and was thought just to be reflux.

Spot wise, it's usually an eczema type reaction. My son when he had hives is a red mark with white centre and fades after a few mins

november90 · 20/06/2020 03:40

@Raindancer411 thank you so much! I don't even know why I'm obsessing over it, I guess it's probably that I'm a bit frightened of it! He doesn't projectile vomit luckily... it's normally bring up milk or the white flakey sick. But saying that he feeds SO quickly... it's probably no surprise! He's now 13 pounds and following his percentile curve. I guess it's the combination of being sicky and the rash but the rash really is just the red spots! We're there any other symptoms with your first I should look out for or am I being ott?

Raindancer411 · 20/06/2020 03:50

@november90 He didn't get any other symptoms other than that and we didn't realise he had a CMPA until he weaned and reacted to a yogurt.

Raindancer411 · 20/06/2020 03:51

Forgot to say that some babies are sensitive through their mums milk and can have colicky symptoms and upset tummies. Worst case is some have bloody nappies, which is very scary for the parents to find.

november90 · 21/06/2020 11:21

Feeling really sad today. The rash and spots have returned. I've read up about the condition he had and it says the a reoccurrence is rare but if so come at approx 6 weeks (he's 5 weeks and 3 days). I'm gutted. I just want it to go away so I don't have to worry 😩
Our local children's ward has been evacuated and closed due to corona and last time we had to go so I'm just really stressed now!

Hope everyone is well and enjoying Father's Day ❤️

Delbelleber · 21/06/2020 14:26

@november90 was your baby born on the 14th? If that's correct so was mine!
Could it just be the hormones in your milk giving him an outbreak of spots? Hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

I'm having a shit day. Not getting on with the baby's dad and he's being demanding and difficult. I think I need to get a solicitor. I just want to run away Sad

november90 · 21/06/2020 17:39

@Delbelleber yes he is! I can't believe he's 5 and a half weeks already. He's definitely starting his 6 weeks growth spurt early. He just seems so big and hungry and a bit grumpy today 🙈
Oh bless you. I'm a single mum (my husband left me out of the blue at 24 weeks pregnant, we already have a 3 year old) and I'm struggling today. After a very horrible few months we've found common ground and he's been helping but it's just so hard. I know the arguments will start when lockdown is over probably. All the family posts on social media have just left me feeling really down today :( has the baby's dad always been difficult?
