Kinki - sorry your little Liam is so poorly but glad the chest xray was clear! Hope they are back home now and you can feed him again !Love and hugs to you and hope you are feeling better soon xxx

We had our first night out on Saturday - went to a Charity Dinner dance and Eloise was a complete star for the Babysitter -only woke for her 10pm bottle and then went back to sleep with no bother !
Maybe I should go out more often ?

I haven't had a chance to check all your photos but will have a look later ! I spent half an hour yesterday trying to get a decent picture of my 3 dd's in santa hats to send to the rellies !!

love to you all xx

MrsMar · 03/12/2007 17:38

Kinki - so sorry to hear about liam but glad the chest xray is clear. I hope he gets better soon. I'm sure you'll be able to get the bfing back on track, it may take a couple of days but it can be done, I'm proof of that!

Talking of bfing... I guess Luca's on his 12 week growth spurt... he fed every 2 and a half to three hours all last night which is totally strange, and he's really ratty and tired today. My poor love, I just gave him his bath and put him to bed and he crashed within seconds and it's almost 2 hours before his normal bedtime! All that growing is tiring!

kinki · 03/12/2007 19:14

They're home now, both exhausted. Liam with a full nappy (that'll teach dh to go out without the bag) and an empty tummy. Still don't know what the matter is yet, but they have done some blood tests and a nasal swab. He's got a 10 day course of antibiotics - that seems a bit long to me, but apparently until they know it's not whooping cough they want to treat it anyway.

Health-wise, it's just getting farcical now in our house. It's just one thing after another. They are all little things really, but the accumulative affect is dragging me down a bit. But as long as Liam is ok, that's the main thing.

ACmum, snap about the santa hats, that's the shot I did!

MrsMar · 03/12/2007 21:22

Phew! That's a relief, I hope it turns out not to be whooping cough and the antibs work quickly.

Our house is the house of colds too... I've got little bits of cotton wool with eucalyptus oil on most of the radiators, the whole house smells like a hospital! I'm currently swigging hot honey and lemon, but I'm deaf now too, I've got so much phelgm! Mind you, maybe I'll sleep through Luca's snoring !!!

PurpleLostPrincess · 03/12/2007 22:18

Awww, I bet you're glad to have him home and give him lots of cuddles and milk! How long before you get the results?

I've just found a Christmas room on mn!! Is it always there or does it appear in December time? It's getting me all excited, even though I'm sooo not ready for it lol!

dal21 · 04/12/2007 09:06

kink - what great news!

plp - theres a xmas tree on mnet???

OP posts:
PurpleTinselPrincess · 04/12/2007 09:12

Yes and its brilliant!! I've never even noticed it - I reckon its a magic room that appears in December like Father Christmas!! [silly childish icon]

PurpleTinselPrincess · 05/12/2007 08:32

Where has everybody gone!?

Hows it going kinki? Hope things have settled down and that Liam is doing OK with the ab's?

I just had to pop on and share my news, it might seem trivial to some and hope it doesn't look like I'm showing off but I won the £500 jackpot last night on bingo!!! I know its not much money to some but it means we'll have a really good Christmas and we won't have to worry about money at all. Its such a relief!!

Hope everybody else is doing OK? Still think of Hopey and LLL and wander how they're doing ((hugs))...

Cerys is getting weighed this afternoon so I'll pop back on later - I'm interested to see how much she has put on as she is definitely growing but she has had this cold (which still hasn't gone away!).

PLP xxx

dal21 · 05/12/2007 08:47

PTP - love the name change! i cannot think of anything festive for mine!
are you kidding - £500 is fab! what great news and so very much deserved!

I sent hopey a text a while back and didnt hear back - will drop her another one.

Hope all ok - Ryan definitely starting to settle more, only needed me for 20 mins at 4am to help go back to sleep otherwise between 7.30 and 7 (with exception of DH waking him for 10pm dreamfeed) we are not hearing a peep out of him. Roll on teething to disrupt it all tho!

Hugs to all, have great days (despite the horrible rainy weather)

fettleandbabyfettle · 05/12/2007 11:29

Hi all - sorry not been around. Been busy and DH and decided we were spending too much time on the internet so had to limit my MN time! Been reading from time to time, but not enough time to post. Haven't had any hot water now for a week, which is a real pain - particularly with Toby does a poo or sick explosion as our washing machine only works on a short, cold, handwash cycle, so doesn't really clean things very well. Hopefully we'll have hot water again by next week and in the meantime, I'm getting strong carrying pans of hot water upstairs for baths and I'm taking piles of washing to my MILs this weekend - feel like a student again!!

PTP - hope Cerys is continuing to thrive. How you feeling about her next operation? Is it next week? My mind is bit all over the place at the moment. £500! that's fantastic - what you doing to spend it all on?

Dal - that sounds great on Ryan's sleeping - it was worth it all then!. Toby did actually sleep from 8.30 right through to 6.30 2 nights ago, but I think it was a one off as he's not repeated it!

kinki - so sorry to hear of all your troubles. hope you are feeling better? And little Liam, how's he doing? hope the Abs haven't knocked him out completely. So hope he recovers quickly. They are so fragile aren't they? Even though Toby is my 2nd, I still worry about every little thing. Found a little dip in his head today, so am now worried about depressed fontenelles etc, but he seems normal otherwise, so I'll keep an eye on it.

I say normal - he still needs to sleep for Britain! And if he wants to sleep, boy does he cry!! But he behaved himeself during DD's nativity yesterday- the magic of daddy's arms, I think!!

But MrsMar - you've reminded me of the 12 week growth spurt - it might explain why he suddenly woke twice last night, having been a once a nighter for a good few weeks now! Sorry to hear you are all weighed down with colds - DD is just recovering from a corker and Toby is sneezing frequently with a little snotty nose from time to time.

Christmas room -need to check that out - our tree is up, all shopping completed, but not yet feeling that christmassy - need some festive emoticons MN-towers!!! We had them this time last year!!!

HammerHeadShark · 05/12/2007 11:35

Hi all, haven't managed to get on for ages - DTs poorly and then at the weekend DH and I got horrendous food poisoning and D&V and have been good for nothing. Think it was a dodgy bit of chicken from a kebab (will teach us to be lazy arses and get a takeaway - were trying to be healthyish too getting a chicken kebab instead of a pizza). Have never been so sick in my life, BF Millie on one side while throwing up into a carrier bag on the other - not my finest hour

Luckily my mum came up on monday and yesterday to help with the girls which was a godsend so all I had to do was feed Millie in between visits to the toilet! Unfortunately Millie has decided this is the week she doesn't want to take EBM in a bottle and is getting frustrated with my lack of milk. Have managed to keep water and dry toast down since yesterday so hopefully on the mend but feel weak and wobbly - on the plus side - great diet!

Kinki - so much sympathy for your sickness too, I have only had a fraction of what you have had to deal with - really hope you are feeling better and are done with having more than your fair share of ailments and ilness for the next 15 years or so. So sorry to hear about little Liam too, hope the abs are working and he is feeling better. Love the Christmas pic by the way

PLP - congrats on your bingo win - well deserved - enjoy and spoil yourselves. Sounds like Cerys is doing so well - looking forward to her weight update later

dal - sounds like you are doing great with Ryan's routine - am a bit of you having your evenings as Millie insists on cluster feeding from 7-10pm most nights, but to be fair she will often sleep til 6 or so so I can't complain. She is a tinker for not having proper daytime naps too - think she is too nosey and worries about missing out - she will sleep well if i take her out for a long walk in her pram - think she is trying to make her mum excercise again!

Hi to everyone else - only had time to skim last few posts so hope you and gorgeous babies all doing well! Am going to try and do a bit more Christmas shopping online - is the only type I will do, refuse to go to the shops!

Have a great day. xx

amyclaramum · 05/12/2007 20:38

PTP = Well done you on your win! You deserve it - hope you get yourself something nice too !? I hope you are feeling ok about next week and Cerys having op on Tuesday ? My Mum is having an op on her eyes on Tuesday (she has glaucoma) so I will have 2 people to think and pray for all day !

Hammerheadshark - sorry you've been so ill !! What a nightmare ! Hope you are feeling better soon - goodnews about the weight loss though -

fettle - you poor love with no hot water and washing ! hope it gets sorted out soon

kinki - hope you and Liam are better now ?

I had HV over yesterday for a "chat" - I made a prat of myself by bursting into tears so she is coming back again next week to see if I'm ok !!(so embarassed now as I don't have any major worries just a bit tired and stressed - aren' we all ?!)

love to everyone else !!

x

MrsMar · 05/12/2007 21:42

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a good day. Luca's growth spurt continues, last night I got only four hours sleep as he was awake and hungry for most of the night. I was up and feeding him so many times. Must have finally satisfied him though cos we went back to bed together at 9am and slept soundly til midday. The longest I've slept for a couple of days now! It's all worth it though, went to the health visitors and he's a lovely chubby 12lb. We're creeping ever closer to that 25th centile!

On the subject of health visitors, how often is everyone going? I was kind of going every 2 weeks, and they're very sweet and say I can go as often as I like, but is that normal, and how often do you go every 2 weeks for? I was a little obssessed with his weight gain, but perhaps I can drop the visits down to every three weeks?

PTP (always makes me think of Tara Palmer Tompkinson - TPT!!) congratulations on your win, that's fantastic. It would totally sort my christmas out.

I'm ashamed to say that I have only bought one present, some Nintendo DS games for my mum cos my dad has bought her the console. I've bought her brain training and sight training. Not trying to imply she's going a bit gaga (yeah, right ) I haven't written a single card or even bought our tree. Hmmmm better get my skates on!

Take care everyone xx

sophus · 05/12/2007 21:50

argh teething. my lovely baby no longer sleeps through and wakes 4 times a night, not for food just in discomfort.won't use a teether and will only chew on his fingers so he's made them sore so he won't suck his thumb anymore which was helping him sleep through.
going to see hv tomorrow for some tips to get through it all. then got second jabs next week,.
keep reminding myself - its just a blip...

kelmcmistletoe · 05/12/2007 22:00

Evening all
PTP - Wow £500, that is fantastic timimg huh, you could do so much with that and spoil eveyone including youself
Kinki - How is Liam, have had a proper 'diagnosis' as to what was wrong with him. it must have been hard for you to be at home!
Dal21 - You and ryan are doing so well with his sleeping now, it makes it all worth while huh?!
Amyclaramum - hope you mums op goes well and you are feeling a little less stressed abd tired!
Fettle - i hope you manage to get your hot water sorted soon, that sounds like such a nightmare situation to be in, still think of all the calories you will be burning off
Hammer - hope you are feeling better soon, thats the thing with BF Millie will be taking whatever nutrients you are getting for herself and leaving you with not much, cheeky monkey
MrsMar - That is fab weight gain, glad you managing to get some sleep. Sounds very snug the pair of you tucked up in bed
Well I also had my HV check today! I also burst into tears when the topic of Arben sleeping on his tummy was raised, was told i shouldn't be so sensitive when given 'helpful' advice' its pretty hard not be when you are asked how can you put your gorgeous baby at the extra risk of putting him on his tummy. I felt like she was implying that i was deliberatly doing it and that i would do something to hurt him on purpose, it really got me but hey apart from that it went well, Arben was a real charmer and gave the HV loads of smiles and laughs. He is also putting on weight well, he now weighs 6.9kg, 15lb 3ozs my booby juice is obviously doing the trick!!
I am also way behind on the XMAS front, have two presents bought and no cards written. My brother is coming down for a few days so the tree will be going up this weekend, cant wait
Well think i'd better go, enough of my chit chat
Take care of those gorgeous bubs x

kelmcmistletoe · 05/12/2007 22:02

Sophus, how old is your LO?? Teethingthought we had a little bit before we had that hurdle to get over

Hi Fio - you have a good memory dont you?! I think he was around that mark at birth, 3.3kg.
I think he must be having a wee growth spurt at the moment cos after having a week of sleeping for 6hrs he is now waking after 3hrs for a quickie 10min feed! dont mind cos its so quick but was so grateful for that period of more sleep!!
Was meant to be meeting some mums for lunch today but cos of the weather etc we decided to give it a miss
My brother is coming today, cant wait. He hasn't seen Arben since he was 3 days old, what a difference he will see
Well, i think today is the [erfect day to stay snuggled up under the duvet for some mummy bubby cuddles

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. haven't caught up on the thread but i do still think of you all. katie is still very poorly with severe reflux and ds1 has had this nasty cold/flu virus for a couple of weeks now. i have matchsticks propping my eyes open!! hope everyone is well and love and hugs to you all

MrsFish · 06/12/2007 19:54

Hello everyone

Felt really ill yesterday afternoon, banging headache, couldn't get warm felt sicky, luckily Sam was really good and watched tv all afternoon (felt too ill to feel guilty) DH came home and said he would do the early feed so I thought fantastic, I'll go to bed after Ben's last feed which was 7.45pm, put Ben down at 8.30 got in bed. DH went out for a drink with his mate and got home about 9pm, woke me up at 11.30 puking his guts up, then at 1.30, 2.30, 3.30, 4.30 and 6.00am, so I ended up doing Ben's feed after all at 4.45, then the bastard rat that has appeared in our roof at the weekend started up at 6.30, so I ended up having a crap nights sleep anyway
What is it with blokes though, dh has been home all day either on the sofa or in bed, I know he is poorly and didn't sleep at all, but I didn't sleep much either and if it was me puking up all night I would have still had to deal with the boys Luckily I have felt better today but I've not had much of an appetite (good to kick off the diet though)

I had Ben weighed last thursday when he was 8 weeks old and he was 13 pound 8 ounces. He is on the 91st percentile for his weight and 98th for his height my big boy he has just started doing the odd little chuckle too when I tickle his lips or under his chin, its so cute

PurpleTinselPrincess · 06/12/2007 20:50

Oh LLL, I know how awful the reflux can be - it just seems to eat into everything - Cerys really wants to be happy but sometimes it takes over and she is in such pain! Is Katie vomiting with it or is it silent? Cerys seems to go a week or so without vomiting then she'll be vomit non stop for a couple of days and there's no way of knowing in advance! I've just spent ages on the phone with the doctor asking if her medicine can be increased as it was prescribed based on her weight a long time ago and she has put on lots of weight now (see below) and she is definitely grumpy with the reflux again. Thinking of you and hope ds1 gets better soon xx

So glad to see some old names popping in!

kinki, hows Liam doing?
kelmc, hope you enjoy having your brother visit!
MrsMar, I agree with FioFio - my hv/nursery nurse is still coming to the house to weigh Cerys because that is what we need in our situation. Everybody is different and has different wants/needs - go with what feels right for you.
sophus, I've been wandering if Cerys is teething too as she's been dribbling - they grow soooo quickly and I'm not looking forward to that bit lol!

Hello to everybody else!

Well, Cerys has put on a massive 11ozs this week !!! So at 14 weeks old she is 10lbs 2ozs bless her. She is completely out of her newborn clothes so we're dressing her up in all her 0-3 months clothes now . As mentioned, she has been a bit grumpy the last few days and I'm sure its her reflux so I'm hoping more gaviscon will help but I found out that she's already on a high dosage of ranitidine so that can't be increased. Also, she's got a stitch sticking out of her wound so we're going to get it looked at in the morning.

Yes, its countdown to next week - we go in on the Tuesday but the op is on the Wednesday morning . I'm trying to get organised but at the moment I'm about as much use as a chocolate teapot what with Cerys needing more attention than usual but I'm sure I'll get there in the end.

Yes that £500 will come in very handy for Christmas and is a real relief! The wii has arrived (ssshhhhhh!!) and we haven't told the kids about the win in case they suspect getting it...!

PLP xxx

PurpleTinselPrincess · 06/12/2007 20:56

Sorry xposts MrsFish, glad you feel a bit better today but hope you feel completely better soon xxx

Talking of DH's, my DH went to his psychiatric clinic today - they've doubled his ad's which is going to be fun considering he'll be running the house alone next week bless him . The good news is that they're going to assign him a support worker on a longterm basis
