Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
fettleandbabyfettle · 20/11/2007 21:20

You've all be so chatty today!! Taken me ages to read through, but LOL!!!

Better join in hadn't I, but firstly...

PLP - big hugs. You're doing fantastically well, but you're allowed to have hugs wobbles I would say. I know Cerys' next op seems so soon, but hopefully that will mean you'll be able to start the New Year with a clean slate, as far as is possible. Great news as well that she is recovering so well from her last op - great weight gain there! PMSL at the condoms story!

House - has it's moments! Sometimes looks lovely, mostly looks a tip!
Sex - female
Christmas - started shopping at least, still got 5 weeks, haven't I?!
Baby sleeping through - no chance. DD only started doing that at gone 3 years!!
Washbasket - currently empty surprisingly enough. Does anyone else feel like they're washing constantly?! Agree with the chinese laundry comment though - definitely a good description of our spare room!!!
Weight - 7lbs over pre-pg weight. back in pre-pg jeans and all skirts. Still got so much to lose as was 2-3 stone heavier than would like before got pg! Never been a size 10! As for whether sleeping baby or 9 stone - that's tricky. At nearly 6 ft, I'd be a skeleton at 9 stone!!! Be happy with 12 stone before baby sleeping through! Although I'd be happy with hourly waking to be a size 10!!!

Brain - pretty mushed!! Can't remember my own children's names most of the time!!!

kinki · 20/11/2007 22:16

Bloody hell. It's bad enough that half of you a size bleedin' 10. Now I discover that you're all tall as well.

MrsFish · 21/11/2007 09:32

kinki - I'm not tall, I'm short and fat and flabby atm, not condusive to feeling sexy at all, doesn't seem to have put dh off, but I just don't feel like getting down and dirty at all

I must say I am not surprised at how many would rather be their ideal weight than be able to sleep through

I have only had two pictures of me taken with Ben so far as I feel I look too hideous to have many more taken

Last night, went out for a posh meal with dh, it was divine, every mouthful a pure delight. Got home and the babysitter had fed Ben at 8.45pm and he slept through till 4am, that's a record so far so managed to have a good 5 hours sleep then it all went pete tong, I fed Ben and got him in bed in record time (half an hour) which was ace, but then Sam woke up again with a coughing fit and was awake till 5.30am oh well, hoping he will be better soon, he has been ill for 9 days now which has put my fitness regime back somewhat.

Oops better go and get dressed, I have a friend and her daughter coming over in half an hour, to do painting! what have I let myself in for

kelmcd · 21/11/2007 09:42

BREAKING NEWS***
Mount Arben irrupted this morning at 5am, there was mass destruction tho the casualty numbers were small, just 1 unsuspecting woman who was too tired to reaslise what was happening until it was too late The clean up job was massive and we are still expecting there maybe mini irruptions to come
For all of those with mini mounts out ther - beware of the dangers of no dirty nappies for 3days, the concequences can be huge

PurpleLostPrincess · 21/11/2007 10:35

Oh dear, sounds like fun in your house kelmcd!

I've just tried Cerys with a variflow teat and its rubbish!! Originally, I gave up bf'ing because it was too much hard work for her with her heart condition, then we went up to the 3+months teats which were messy but did the job. So, I thought I'd try the variflow ones but it has just taken me half an hour to get less than 1 ounce of milk in her! (She's got a cold so her appetite isn't brilliant but surely that's awful!?).

I thought they were supposed to respond to her suck!?

Twitmonster · 21/11/2007 16:15

lol at kelms erruption. My dd never got on well with the variable, although she only ever got onto the 3 month teats when she was at least 6 months.

babytwit did something really cute, he laughed in his sleep a real belly laugh.

PurpleLostPrincess · 21/11/2007 16:29

Awwww, how sweet!!! Cerys has found her voice and she loves lying on her back (especially naked which daddy isn't too impressed with lol!). She shouts and coo's at random objects and its hilarious. Also, she has clocked herself in the mirror now and she always smiles at herself - bless!

She's still trying to do raspberries - you can see her frustration as she really concentrates and pokes her tongue out but nothing happens. I know I'll regret teaching her when she does eventually discover it!!

Anybody got rolling over yet? Cerys can get on her side already . Part of me doesn't want her to grow up too quickly as we've had so much time 'stolen' away from us...

MrsMar · 21/11/2007 16:39

Blimey, must have been a good night last night, everyone's so chatty

Kelmcd - LOL at your eruption. I hope you manage to recover!

Righto survey...

christmas shopping Hmmm not started, not even thought about. How about a frugal christmas this year? It's all too commercial anyway heheheh!

sex hmmmm nope. Feel v unsexy and can't even contemplate it when Luca is in his cot beside our bed. Poor dh, serves him right for denying me when I was 38 weeks pg and feeling rampant (he was paranoid about triggering labour!)

washing basket absolutely rammed, washing machine has broken down, and I'm still waiting for the engineer to come and fix it. oh dear, this is looking awful isn't it?

brain have no idea, haven't tested it, I can still type which is small mercy!

housework pretty much immaculate, I can claw back some self respect on that one, but it's only cos dh hasn't been here for two days. Why is it when I'm here on my own it's tidy and stays that way, when he's here it's like a tornado has hit it!

sleeping through the night another no I'm afraid... not too bad though, he usually has a feed around 11pm, I'm in bed by about midnight, and he feeds again around 4-5am and then sleeps again until 9.

weight oops, another failure I'm afraid! The scales say I'm still a stone and a half over my pre pg weight but I do fit in to the same size jeans as pre pg. I bought a size bigger than normal and they were hanging off me so bought my usual size. Can't quite understand that one. Maybe my feet are carrying all the weight!!!

If I had a choice between 9 stone or sleeping through the night, I'd choose 9 stone any day, so long as not sleeping through the night meant waking only once as he is now.

Righto, better dash, I can see my Ocado man outside gathering our bags together... take care everyone xxx

MrsMar · 21/11/2007 16:41

twit... just got to say before I unpack the shopping... Luca does that laughing in his sleep too... It's soooo cute!

kinki · 21/11/2007 18:15

Warning: don't let your children read!

I love Christmas. I love shopping for pressies and the challenge of finding bargains so I can get better presents for everyone. I've got the biggest list ever this year, but I'm nearly there. I've got 56 to buy for, downside of a big family and lots of friends. There's 7 couples in there who I think we'll ring and ask to do kids only, and instead we'll make a charity donation. [Just waffling while you get dc away from the screen].

But the best bit is I've finished buying for Liam's stocking. I love buying for him. His stocking is really for the benefit of the other boys more than anything. And yesterday 3 new stockings arrived, each with one of dc's name on. Seeing all 3 of them gave me such a warm fuzzy feeling, made realise that our family is complete. I now just have to wrap it all and hide them in the loft.

Following my good news last week about my backdated maternity pay, we decided to let ds1 have hid most wished for present - a wii. My good luck continues as I actually managed to get one, just had to sell my soul to the manager of the local toysrus to extract certain information (funny how he asked for my soul and not my body!).

Anyone got any ideas what a little baby can buy his daddy. On another thread today someone wrote about digital photo-fame keyrings. Prices start from about £15 I think. Right, I'll shut up about Christmas now. I know I bore everyone silly in rl about it, don't want to bore you guys too.

MrsMar · 21/11/2007 22:11

I love Christmas too Kinki... my family think I'm mad cos a grown woman of 37 gets giddy with excitement about Christmas. I love all the cooking and decorating the house, I'd gladly do it all and I do usually end up doing the lions share at my mum and dad's. I love christmas shopping too, although that might change this year with a baby in tow. I love surprising people with their presents. It's so sweet that you've got a stocking for Liam. We were wondering what to buy Luca for Christmas, I feel really mean not getting him anything... just because he's so young he won't know. You've inspired me... I'm going to start hunting for a present for him. I might get some funky coloured lights for his room that flash on and off. He loves lights and twinkling coloured lights will be just his thing. Hmmm either that glass of wine I had is affecting me more or I'm actually getting a wee bit tearful thinking about Luca's first Christmas.

Well done on getting the Wii btw... Dh had to get his from Amazon Germany (had both the UK and German versions of Amazon open alongside each other so he could work out what he was doing - they're identical pages thank God!)

MrsMar · 21/11/2007 22:12

I'm quite [shock} at your 56 presents to buy by the way! I thought I had a lot but it's no where near that much!

MrsMar · 21/11/2007 22:13

hmmm I meant I'm quite !!! Good luck buying all those!

kinki · 21/11/2007 23:34

Between us, dh and I have 7 brothers and 7 sisters (incl in-laws), 7 nephews and 7 nieces, 7 godchildren, 3 parents, and 5 other families all with children and 1 teacher to buy for. It's a challenge to keep in budget and to be original, but I enjoy it.

PurpleLostPrincess · 22/11/2007 07:51

Do you come from St. Ives by any chance kinki!? lol

kinki · 22/11/2007 10:06

There is a bit of a theme there isn't there?

toadstool · 22/11/2007 10:25

Wow, you're all so organised!
PLP Great to hear Cerys is doing well!
Xmas Still haven't bought a thing for anyone. We're going to be anti-social this year anyway, we had so many relatives staying to help this past 4 months, I'd like to have some family time together, so we might go to Paris.
Sleeping through Josephine usually goes to sleep at around 10.30/11PM and goes up to 5 or 6AM without a feed. I'm quite happy with that as I have no hope of ever being 9 stone again!
Weight I'm 11 st. 4 lbs, about half a stone heavier than my (overweight) pre-PG. Not bad for someone who has been immobile since 30 wks PG, but it means I need to lose 2 stones at least at some point...not in this lifetime, I fear.Kinki, I'm short (5'4")!
Still in PG pants plus a couple of velour things. Now that gives me an idea for my Xmas presents...
Josephine began smiling at about 8 weeks, and has a lovely range of deeply serious expressions, and is starting to have this "I'm working very hard" look when she's playing with the toys on her bouncy chair. Aaah...

MrsBumblebee · 22/11/2007 13:11

Had to come on and share the exciting news that Paul slept from 7.30pm to 4.30am last night (after 6.45pm feed)!!! And I think he only woke up when he did because I had an uncontrollable sneezing fit . Would love to know how late he would have slept otherwise. It's interesting, because up until the last few nights, we've been putting him to bed at the same time as us, but he gets so crotchety in the evening (or falls asleep on the sofa) that we thought we'd try starting him on a sensible bedtime. Usually I've been waking him for a feed around 10pm, but last night I was so knackered that I went to bed at 9.15pm and couldn't face waking him up to feed him, so I thought I'd just leave him as an experiment and see how long he'd go. And hey presto, he woke up slightly later than he usually does. Could just be a one off, but here's hoping...

On the downside, he's been a screaming monster for most of today.

Hope everyone's well. Kinki, I can't believe your 56 presents nightmare. I don't have that problem, but I have a different one in that my parents-in-law insist on buying everyone hundreds of presents (seriously, last year I think I got about 15). Probably sounds great, but it's actually really embarrassing, especially as they're the type who are really into keeping score on things like that. I don't mind so much for me and DH, but I don't want them showering Paul with gifts and turning him into a spoilt brat.

On a happier note, I love Christmas generally, and am really looking forward to it. I've just been looking at another MN thread about where to buy proper traditional stockings. Going to have to find one!

Chattyhan · 22/11/2007 14:10

The game has moved on a bit so here i go again!

House a mess - ds1 messes it up faster that i can tidy and alex has been so clingy i haven't been able to do a thorough clean for nearly 3 weeks. I'd love a cleaner
Sex still twice and still reluctant
Christmas i've only done about 15% of shopping and haven't even bought cards let alone written them!
Baby sleeping - i'm happy with this one. Alex is going from 10 til 5 most nights but then settling back until 8 and this is great compared to ds1
Washing - got a load in now and only 1/2 a load in the basket
Brain - i'm ok as long as i write everything in my diary!
Weight Pre-preg weight is 10 stone and i'm 11.8 stone (clothes size 14) With ds1 i was 12.3 stone for a year after the birth and couldn't shift an ounce despite bf for 5 months and diet/exercise but after a year it dropped off with no effort in 3 months! So this time i'm going to assume i'll be this weight for 12 months and i've even brought some bigger outfits to flatter my larger figure rather than being depressed at living in joggers and trying to squeeze into my size 10/12. If i do manage to lose it quicker it's a bonus! i'm very of those of you back in pre-preg clothes already and those of you who are not try not to stress about it. I wish i'd spent less time worrying about my weight and enjoying ds1 as a baby!

MrsMar · 22/11/2007 17:55

Hi everyone, I hope you've all had a good day. I'm quite excited cos Luca slept from midnight til 6am last night, and I only got up to feed him then because I wanted to get another feed in by 10am as I was going out for lunch. If i hadn't been going out I would have left him longer. Let's hope this is the start of something good. My problem is that I'm still waking him and feeding him at his normal feed times to keep the routine, but I'm starting to think that perhaps I should just let him wake himself up for a feed whenever he's hungry and see if he settles in to a new routine. At the moment he's asleep, he had a feed at 2am, and normally I'd wake him around 6 for a feed so I can get him bathed and in bed for 8 so I can sit down and have dinner, but should I just let him go as long as he wants asleep? Ooooh I'm in a quarandry. If he doesn't wake up til say 7, then I won't be finished feeding him until 8 and then he'll have to have a bath and back to bed but that'll be around 9. Hmmmm dilemma. What does everyone else do? Stick to a routine which suits them or totally demand feed even if it means interrupting your evening???

Twitmonster · 22/11/2007 18:17

if it suits him why change it? It's your life too you know.
I'm changing dd's bedtime from 6;30 to 8 ish in order that I can bathe her and babytwit together [she gets about 1 bath a week atm ] and then milk and story together and then bed together so wish me luck!
Until recently I have been feeding babytwit every 2 - 2 1/2 hours [his choice to begin with mind] and am now relaxing a bit [he slept for 3 hours earlier lol. I think he may have slowed his growing a bit although it will probably pick up again around christmas time. In fact ds1 [born october] started waking in the nights around his first christmas time when he was about 12 weeks old, and I weaned him in the new year [mind you we were told to wean them at 16 weeks back then]

MrsMar · 22/11/2007 19:15

That was kind of my thoughts too Twit, but over on the breastfeeding boards someone said I shouldn't stick to a routine just cos it suited me, that I should be guided by him. Oh I'm in a dilemma. Mind you, he's just about waking up, and it's been about 5 hours since his last feed so perhaps that's about his limit. It does vary so much, sometimes if he's awake alot he wants to feed more often, but if he's having a good sleep he'll go longer.

Twitmonster · 22/11/2007 20:44

basically every one has their own way of doing things, doesn't mean that they are right or wrong or that you are right or wrong in the general scheme of things. You just need to do what's good for you. If you are both happy with the way things are then why change? It could confuse things. You said he slept longer last night [I think ], was that with you doing things as normal?

Twitmonster · 22/11/2007 20:50

p.s. babytwit gets/got fed when I need to feed him, ie before the school runs etc, and he found his own routine around that, so they can and do adjust to your lifestyle. In fact isn't that a part of life? That they fit into your family [albeit with a lot of changes happening] and your lifestyle [to a point, perhaps minus the drinking lol]

MrsMar · 22/11/2007 21:55

You're so right twit... He slept ages last night cos I slept through too. Normally when he's hungry he kind of snuffles and smacks his lips and that's what wakes me up and when I feed him, but last night nothing until 6. I think you're right though, I'm going to stick to my rough routine but occasionally I'll let him dictate a bit if he needs to, like for example this afternoon. He hadn't slept at all this morning and I knew he was tired so I let him sleep for as long as he wanted to, so he didn't wake up until 7.15pm, 5 hours after his last feed. After I fed him it was a bit too late for a bath, but I thought it was more important for him to sleep. It's amazing how much better he sleeps at night if he's slept well during the day.
