sputnik, the nursery we're going to use is £36 per day if just one day per week, or £33 per day if 2+ days per week. Plus £2 per day for food. We thought the food was a bit steep for the start, when she'll only be 6 months, but place seems good and is very convenient.

daisyandbabybootoo · 14/09/2007 18:48

Re nurseries, we were paying £30 a day for DS before he started school and that inlcuded all meals and snacks...not that the meals were great, it was all a bit samey and chips were featured quite a lot but DS was really happy there (his primary carer was such a sweet girl, and one of the few there that actually seemed to have an ounce of brain).

Our childminder charges £3 an hour (which is cheap....some around here charge £4.50 ), but not sure if she does a cheaper day rate. I would be totally happy with her looking after DD. She is mad and her house is chaotic, but her kids are very happy. She has had 4 kids of her own and looks after 9 or 10 children through the week (not all at once thankfully)

andiem · 14/09/2007 19:13

evening all back from swimming ds2 nursery will be £53 a day and before and after school will be £12 a day I reckon my childcare will be £900 a month so am wondering if it is really worth going back. I am only going back 3 days so if I went full time childcare would be £1500 a month aaagh

Jamantha · 14/09/2007 19:29

Have just put DD down for the 2nd time and she's crying madly again This is why I want DH here!

daisyandbabybootoo · 14/09/2007 19:30

Free Lipstick

daisyandbabybootoo · 14/09/2007 19:32

oh jamantha

just have a nice cuddle with her and let her snooze on you.

it will be lovely

and bag yourself a free lippy to cheer you up

justbeme · 14/09/2007 19:45

how do you lot give your lo's calpol?
i just gave it in a syringe and she spat the whole lot out.

Jamantha · 14/09/2007 19:47

I went up again and sat with her, letting her suck my finger for a while until she calmed down then came back downstairs. Doesn't sound like she's quite asleep yet, I can hear occasional murmers and whimpers, but nothing serious. (Touch wood) Hopefully all will be quiet within then next 10 mins. I guess my little girl missed her Daddy and his smooth putting to bed moves?

trendaverter · 14/09/2007 19:52

!!!
My nursery is £48.75 per day!!!
You lot are lucky

trendaverter · 14/09/2007 19:54

I am in essex looking after my mums foster boys while she goes on holiday

My dog ran in the house with a packet of fags

turns out they have been smoking and hiding the packets in the garden, lol, I emptied the pack in the bin and put it back up there, they don't know that I know (yet!)

at nappy lady classifieds being shut down. I have a shed load I didn't get on with and want to get rid of but hers was the most popular place, nowhere else seems to generate the same level of interest.

Charlie999 · 14/09/2007 19:56

Blimey don't the nursery fees vary. My £40 a day includes food, milk, nappies, wipes the lot - all I take is DD and a change of clothes...or 2...or 3

trendaverter · 14/09/2007 19:58

mine does not include nappies or wipes either...or formula
My childminder is £35 per day

Jamantha · 14/09/2007 20:00

Mine does not include nappies, wipes etc. But the food charge does cover organic food cooked on the premises.

foxybrown · 14/09/2007 20:10

JBM I use a syringe and aim for the inside of her cheek. Don't know if I'll get any into her, but lo had her jabs today too. Seems OK at the moment, but I've been worried it'll disturb her sleep routine (how lucky can I be??)

Jamantha · 14/09/2007 20:14

All is quiet Pizza is in the oven And I've put some more pictures of her on facebook [showing off mummy smiley]

Charlie999 · 14/09/2007 20:29

Pics are lovely Jamantha - they're all really growing quickly now aren't they?

BadZelda · 14/09/2007 20:35

Phew. Currently got 4 children in the house...4, 2, 1 and 3 months. We tired them all out by taking them to the pub and now they're all asleep....ahhh. Touch wood it stays that way. Foxy: I don't know how you do it: I don't feel like I have enough eyes! I feel literally cross-eyed now!

bumperlicious · 14/09/2007 20:36

DH and I are barely talking. My rant turned into a full blown row. I was cross with him because - well not actually sure really, because I was bored and fed up, and because he couldn't come up with any suggestions for stuff to do ("I don't mind what we do" argghhhh!). He is cross with me coz I ruined his day off by being miserable and having a go at him and why couldn't I come up with any suggestions. We both sulked around sainsburys and are still sulking now. He says he just wanted to spend a day doing nothing as he has been at work all week. I said I spend all week doing nothing and it's not much cop!

Jamantha · 14/09/2007 20:36

Thanks Charlie. She certainly is growing. 12lb 2oz this week. And it's just the past week that she started holding onto things (other than our fingers) so am really pleased.

foxybrown · 14/09/2007 20:40

Bumper, no one tells you how boring being a mum is! Yes its great, wonderful, rewarding, tiring, stressful. And bloody boring! I don't think the DPs get it.

Jamantha · 14/09/2007 20:40

Poor you Bumper. I know how you feel. By the weekend I am desperate to do something a bit different. Thankfully I have got dh to appreciate this by now. I think it was when I got so excited by us driving 5 miles to the garden centre, having a cup of tea and coming home again that the penny dropped. Hope you guys make it up soon and have a nice day tomorrow?

foxybrown · 14/09/2007 20:41

Ah, BZ - I don't take them anywhere

loonylovegood · 14/09/2007 20:43

My ds was 16lb 10oz on thurs!! He is a little Buddha!!

Dp home, been told off and all is well. He has promised not to play golf over the weekend, I get to lie in tomorrow and he is going to take me anywhere I want on sunday! Where shall we go? Anywhere within a few hours drive, he get free personal mileage with this new job, so the world is my oyster!

Bumper I so feel your pain! Dp always wants to sit around on his day off, it's so dull! I sit around in the house all week being bored, I want to have some fun at the weekend!

Charlie999 · 14/09/2007 20:46

With you all on the boring bit ...I love her to pieces - sometimes I catch myself thinking I wish she was more demanding then I could see to her more and the housework less

Glad all are in bed BZ - do you have a large glass of wine in your hand?

Bumper - hopefully you've made him think a bit - as well as get it off your chest! Tomorrow is another day!

daisyandbabybootoo · 14/09/2007 20:47

Aw Jamantha...lovely. I must get some new photos of DD up on there, she is really changing.

I have been sitting watching DH cope with two kids at bedtime and he's been getting really frazzled.....it's great . Now he will have an appreciation of my life!

Holly...are you around? I need help to find six size 2 nippa tots bots. Must be nippa fastening and must be cotton. Would prefer rainbow bots but they don't make them anymore, so cotton or organic cotton will do. Not bamboozles as I have some bambineo ones. Preferably new or very lightly used. Is that too tall an order? I want to spend less than the RRP of £7 each preferably.
