April 2007 - As 6 months has passed, a time to reflect on just how lucky we are

It's easy to forget just how lucky we are to have beautiful healthy children

Our thoughts are with Vio and her family

And I'm sure we're all thinking of those that have been absent lately, and hoping that they know they can return to us if they need us at any time, no questions asked

PINIONS, SMOLE, MUMINA..., NUTTY, OCTO, (AND ANYONE ELSE I'VE MISSED)...........

sorry, feeling soppy

mmk - brains! ha! I wish! Ancient greek is evil to learn, there are at least 16 words for the But it is also the most beautiful language ever

Where did you do theology?

mmk · 13/09/2007 13:10

tc I did my theology in University of Wales (Bangor) had far too much of a good time, so swapped to Politics, it was easier.

elkiedee · 13/09/2007 13:19

Two people who have studied Ancient Greek, that's impressive. MMK, I've stayed in student flats in Bangor a few times during the holidays, I really liked visiting there.

tcmummy · 13/09/2007 13:19

lol! i wish i could swap to something easier!! The amount of times I've wished i'd just done a flippin MA!

elkiedee · 13/09/2007 13:20

I've uploaded a couple of new pics to my profile, as Danny is growing so fast.

mmk · 13/09/2007 13:22

isn't he lovely elkie?

I'm just finished doing diploma for legal sec.
Bangor was so lovely, had wonderful years there

mmk · 13/09/2007 13:26

off to prepare for shops now. Rachel (well into her Gina Ford routine) will wake at 2.30- after giving me 2 1/2 hours peace. After that, we are off shopping.

DS will go to Teddy Bear room again today (next class up in nursery) so as a treat, I will bring him home on the bus. He loves it.

see you all later

AngeG · 13/09/2007 13:33

Elkie - D looks gorgeous.

MMK - Have emailed you re an address to send cheque to.

Just another shameless plug for new photos of Izzy on my profile...please look

mmk · 13/09/2007 14:03

forgot to mention this, to those with babies who won't sleep. Either Medised or Vallergan (the latter only available from Dr) will send them to the land of nod, and re-establish a nice routine. I have only used two teaspoons in 3 years, but it is wonderful stuff.

DS used to wake for 3hours or more, every time we went away. So now, i just pack the Vallergan, and off we go.

Hi all, mmk I´d like to make a donation towards the flowers or whatever but I´m not sure who to send an email to or what needs done. My email is jennie dot douglas at gmail dot com if that helps?

We saw the surgeon today but tbh he didn´t tell us anything new. Dad will have the op within the month and that´s that. They said it is risky but in their opinion there is no choice. So we just have to wait some more..

Sympathies to everyone else suffering from sleep deprivation, I´ve really escaped unscathed until the last couple of weeks, he´s very rarely woken more than once a night as a rule and I could handle that but this.. well he´s on the fast track to gina ford if he doesn´t sort it out

maveta · 13/09/2007 15:58

We´re going to London for a long weekend next weekend, what kind of clothes do I need? Do I need a cosytoes for the stroller? A gro-bag for bedtime? Long jammies, long sleeves/jackets/ just jumpers?

N has hardly slept today, it is driving.me.crazy. He slept 30mins this morning at 9am and then slept in the car both ends of the journey to the hospital (about 20mins each way) and that. is. it. He is now in bed moaning and groaning and I really don´t think he´s going to sleep. Aaaaaaaaaaaargh!

geordiemacminx · 13/09/2007 17:15

My sis is in London and I dont think it is that cold down there at the moment (unlike Glasgow. Its about 20 degrees? Although this is probably frezing for you? I would go with t-shirts and a light jacket for day.... but I wore flip flops and t-shirts in Barca in March so I'm probably not the best person to ask

PillockOfTheCommunity · 13/09/2007 18:53

it's not too bad here at the mo (i'm an hour away), have been in t-shirts

lol gmm - you have a point.. ok.. to repeat a question I am asking in products.. what tog gro-bag are your babies in right now and will you change this in winter?

geordiemacminx · 13/09/2007 19:11

C doesnt use a gro bag yet, as he is still in his moses basket , he just has sleepsuit and a fleecy blanket thing?

AngeG · 13/09/2007 19:14

Maveta we use a 2.5 grobag for Izzy...but we have air conditioning upstairs so it's always about 20 degrees...will keep her in the same during the winter.

Do you use a grobag at the moment? What tog? Am coming to Spain soon and would prefer to put Izzy in a grobag as that is what she's used too and I think otherwise she will be awake all night.

maveta · 13/09/2007 19:23

wow gmm, that´s fab that he´s still in his basket.. I miss N being able to go in it, was so easy to move him around the house with me..

Ange- no, we´ve not needed one yet.. at the moment he sleeps in short pjs (very light cotton) with either just a sheet on top or maybe a thin blanket. And we often have the fan on aswell! So 2.5 tog might be too warm for her. I was looking in toysrus the other day and they were only selling 1 tog gro-bags so am trying to figure out if that´s what people would expect to use in winter (seeing as in summer its unlikely they are used at all)..

AngeG · 13/09/2007 19:27

Thanks Maveta...I was thinking of buying a 0.5 tog one. When does it start to get colder?

Tili · 13/09/2007 19:35

Hi all.

Hope everyone is feeling well and babies are all doing well.

Please can someone pass on my condolences to Vio such sad news. Her family will be in my thoughts.

All is well here Bethany is on her second week of reception class and she is loving it!! Have been really worried about her but she has taken to it like a duck to water!!

I did read through the thread but havent managed to retain information so I apologise for not doing personals

Anyway take care everyone xxx

maveta · 13/09/2007 19:36

Well the evenings are gradually cooling down now although it´s still warm.. I guess in October? It never seems properly cold until December but the nights are definitely cooler before then. I would think a 0.5 tog would be fine especially if you have a long sleepsuit you can put her in if it is cooler.

Gee, that was clear

phdlife · 13/09/2007 19:38

okay you lot I have a question:

ds born Friday Apr.13 (I know, I know). Is he:

a) 22 weeks tomorrow; OR
b) 5 1/2 m; OR
c) not 5m til Sept. 13?

(and why does the header of this thread say 6m have passed since April? Am I really missing out on that much sleep?)

AngeG · 13/09/2007 19:39

Hi Tili Glad B has settled well into school.

Thanks again Maveta. We are flying over on 11th October so sounds like a 0.5 should be ok?? Don't want to buy a 1 tog and then find she is too hot!? What a nightmare! I can always put more layers on with a 0.5 one.

AngeG · 13/09/2007 19:46

PHD - I would say 22wks tomorrow AND 5 months on 13th September.

nappynuttynormabutty · 13/09/2007 19:47

ok, ok I'm back...

Ellie stop hiding...i can't send you a message

AngeG · 13/09/2007 19:49
