Ditto at those night feed (all are comfort feeds) timings @Horehound. I'm less convinced it's due to teeth now, and starting to lean towards 9 month sleep regression.

Still very much on 3 feeds per day. Alice is feeding for longer. I theorise it's due to my oversupply having (finally) regulated itself, so now she needs both breasts, where one used to be sufficient.

Other then the 3 pre-sleep feeds, she's not interested in BF-ing. So whenever I have a glass of water, I offer her some. She stays hydrated and gets some practice at open cup drinking. Win win!

DustyDoorframes · 02/06/2020 21:19

Welcome back ARTISTformerlyknownasDECAF! Heh we are eons off walking, DD is only just sitting properly securely, still has the odd head-dive. She doesn't even commando crawl yet. She has just discovered bum shuffling though so crawling may be off the agenda...

GeeGirl DD is also not at all interested in milk by day, but she's basically latched in all night, it's doing me in. I've been trying to offer more in the hope she eases off at night.

My back has gone today, too much hip carrying and the nights lying at an odd angle have finished me off, woe!

Geegrl19 · 03/06/2020 04:45

@DustyDoorframes feeling you in the back department!

@Megan2018 she must like doing fresh air wees. Thankfully this happens rarely for us but have probably jinxed myself now.

Thanks for all the feeding replies. Seems like quite a few are shorter periods in the day now. I'll just carry on and try to offer more sips of water to him too. I guess if he wanted it he would stay on for longer. This morning he was more interested in staring at the pattern on my mug than getting on with drinking. So nosy, just like me!

Cdl84 · 04/06/2020 07:03

Hey. Not posted here before but just wanted to check if my baby (10 months next week) is the only one still falling from a sitting position?! He has always been slow on the gross motor side, only rolling a month ago and not crawling yet, not pulling to stand but can weight bear with support. He clearly is able to sit for long periods unsupported but seems to get distracted, want to reach something to his side and he just lunges for it without breaking his fall using his hands. Occasionally loses balance and falls backwards. Should I be worried or are others still doing this? Means I have to sit by him all of the time!

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 04/06/2020 07:17

@Cdl84 my Dd is a few weeks younger but she is still at risk of falling. If I'm honest I don't sit with her all the time (I am disabled and struggle to get up and down from the floor) but I get and make sure that there are cushions round her. She's never rolled or pulled herself up either! But my first DD was the same and she's now a lovely active toddler

Horehound · 04/06/2020 11:51

@Cdl84 no Arthur is fine sitting but if you were worried about anything call your health visitor? But I do think every baby just develops different things at different times and he's probably working on some brain development rather than movement!

Got another question for everyone..
Do you babies hate having their hands and face wiped at meal times? Arthur just absolutely hates it and cries every time even if I try to make a game out of it. :S

Megan2018 · 04/06/2020 12:30

Felicity is currently sporting a forehead bruise, she can sit fine but she has started trying to go from sitting to on her tummy for crawling by herself which goes wrong frequently and she face planted a plastic toy!

We use thick padded playmat on the floor and leave her to it (I’m in the room but not sat with her all the time). They are going to have a few knocks.
Nursing pillows are good to put behind them, Felicity will occasionally fling backwards if overexcited and this catches her nicely (we have very hard slate floors)

Geegrl19 · 04/06/2020 13:21

Nate is sitting ok now. Only a recent development though and both my other girls took their time to sit. Like horehound said more than likely developing in other areas. They all develop so differently but I understand it's hard not to compare.

@Horehound yes, Nate hates it too. Especially wiping his face. He growls at me and get really annoyed 😳

Strangely though he doesn't mind his face being washed in the bath and grabs at the face washer and sucks all the bathwater out of it. Gross!

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 04/06/2020 13:32

Oooh dusty i quite like the look of that for a username!

Favourite bath activity here is standing up to eat the taps Hmm baths usually have to be quick as he will not just sit and play!

Horehound · 04/06/2020 17:54

Yy to the bath tap eating. That's the main event for him lol

Dyra · 04/06/2020 18:01

Ha ha! I thought I'd missed a name change at some point. Eating the taps is pretty impressive.

Poor Felicity @Megan2018. Sad It's horrible when they injure themselves. At least they forget about it much quicker than we do.

Alice is usually ok with having her hands washed, but having her face washed is guaranteed tears. If I make silly noises, the tears are somewhat mitigated, but not completely. But then, short of a chisel, there's no other way to get the caked on Weetabix off.

@Cdl84 No trouble with sitting here. Though, I'm finding that once Alice has developed enough of a skill to get by, she quickly moves into the next thing before mastering it. Your little boy is probably working on some other aspect of development now. Definitely contact your HV for some advice and/or reassurance.

Megan2018 · 04/06/2020 18:21

Felicity hates face wiping but what works is sitting her by the sink in her vest, legs dangled in and running the tap. She loves playing with the water with her hands and I can wipe her face without protest Smile

Horehound · 07/06/2020 06:53

Argh it's just one thing after another.
Arthur now refusing all breakfast foods. Used to love porridge now won't open his mouth for it.
Sake with his yoghurts but will eat ours Confused
Can't give him egg
I tried him with toast and peanut butter and he sooked it a little but left it.
Literally the only thing he will eat fuss free are blueberries.

Also, he was pooping ok for a wee while so I stopped the medicine and now he's backed up again. Although I was stupid and tried him with a small amount of scrambled eggs during this time which I shouldn't have done. But I guess that has solidified the idea it's egg causing constipation but ffs. I'm so fed up.
I don't understand why he isn't eating now. :(

Geegrl19 · 07/06/2020 08:04

Oh no @horehound. Sounds like a bit of a nightmare. Not sure what to suggest, but just keep trying. Could he be teething? I used to stress so much as my first DD was a nightmare with food. Looking back I wished I hadn't worried so much but it's so hard. Just keep offering different foods and hopefully his appetite will pick back up. I hope his meds kick back in soon and get that 💩 moving. Maybe that's putting him off 🤔

I've had another shit week. Nate was sick last week, think was reaction to second flu dose then he's picked up a cold from daycare this week. So over it. He's not sleeping. I'm so run down I've been a bit off too. The to top things off I left work early on Friday to get him and my car broke down at the childcare centre and wouldn't restart. It had been making a noise and I'd booked it in but wasn't expecting it to die. Someone up there seriously doesn't like me. All I want is some sleep 😭 He was awake last night between 1 and 2 and then 5 and 6. Rest of the time was whinging and/or sleeping on me, I had to sit up. As much as I love the centre, I dread sending him as I wonder what he's going to come home with. Hate messing work around too being 'that person' who's kid is always sick. Keep your little ones at home away from childcare as long as you can! Sorry for the whinge - again 😒

Hope you're all having a good weekend.

Horehound · 07/06/2020 10:49

Oh god what a bloody nightmare @Geegrl19. I would have cried when the car died I think. What a shame. It does sound like a very tough week and if you're feeling not great too your energy levels will be zapped. Hang in there!

Try not to worry about work most people will have kids and understand what it's like. I was actually just thinking how good lockdown is because none of us have had any colds or anything! I am dreading Arthur starting nursery.

Yes, he is teething still! His top front two teeth plus an incisor at the top is still coming through...maybe that is it. And yeh you're right he could be off his food until he poops I do remember he did that one time before.
Uft can't believe he is bunged up again.

Hope you get some rest and you both feel better soon Flowers

happydays00 · 07/06/2020 20:17

@Geegrl19 sorry to hear you've had a crap week. It does always seem to come all at once. I full sympathise with you - DS has been teething badly but steadily seemed to be getting worse this week. Took him to the doctors on Friday and he has a nasty ear infection, started on antibiotics and has come out in a top to toe rash and is apparently allergic to penicillin so back to an out of hours today and home with a different set of antibiotics. I'm feeling run down and just need sleep. It's so hard isn't it?!

@Horehound it's very hard, but I would just keep trying to offer different foods and try not to stress. I know it's easier said than done but I'm sure he'll start eating again soon.

Horehound · 07/06/2020 20:37

Thanks @happydays00 I am just a real worrier which doesn't help!
I spent today with a mission to get him to poop and he managed to an hour ago! So I'll see tomorrow morning if he has his appetite back or if he is still fussy I assume due to teeth.
I'll keep in keeping on. He's actually been great, fine and happy today which is strange considering just how much poop there was 😬

Sorry about the ear infection and rash. Poor soul. Hope he's better soon. I am also allergic to penicillin! Hope you can get some rest too x

Megan2018 · 07/06/2020 21:02

@Horehound

Have you tried kiwi fruit? It is very good at getting bowels moving.
Felicity has never had constipation but kiwi is fabulous for keeping things going. Skin on, cut in to quarters.

Horehound · 07/06/2020 21:08

Yeh he has had it most days in the last week and enjoys it.
The main thing I've managed to get him to eat today is fruit. I also made homemade chicken and sweet potato croquettes and steamed broccoli which he ate a bit of then stopped altogether, he ate some puréed prunes then I put some pasta down that we were having and he wolfed it down. I mean I didn't really want to give him stodge bit he hadn't eaten much at all. But it really seemed like he wasn't hungry at all then went crazy for the pasta.

kyles101 · 07/06/2020 22:30

DS usually goes 3x per day but we've had a bread heavy few days and he's down to once per day, and that's with a lot of fruit etc. still. So we'll be back to bread every few days I think.

Standing and walking is now the only way to travel 🙄 not that he's ever got the gist of crawling. He loves wrestling and climbing up us too, he's going to be a real rough and tumble type.

We've had our first experience of "no" he keeps trying to put cotton wool into the water at the changing table, then eating it. I just take his hand away and say "no" which he finds highly amusing 🙄

Back to work at the end of the month... just 3 weeks together left... I can't believe how quickly the time has gone.

New tricks include waving and kissing is becoming more reliable although sometimes involves licking - grim.

Sorry about the cars and reactions. Not great timing is it. Re nurseries I'm fully expecting to be off every other week with suspected corona! With my hours cut self employed dh will be earning 4x + what I do, so I don't see that I can ask him to have the time off instead of me... and he doesn't have a job where he can wfh whereas I do... oh well, we'll get to those bridges when they arrive!!

Horehound · 07/06/2020 23:24

@kyles101 can I ask what volume of poop is like if you're getting three a day?! Like a tablespoon on 3 tablespoons or something?!

I haven't had a proper kiss yet but he has started coming towards my head and then opening his mouth and just keeping it on my cheek. So I guess that is a kiss but it's very, very wet lol

Arthur has already had a few bumps and bruises and he is quite wild so I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of them unfortunately. He does now understand NO when he even looks at the fireplace!

That's so funny about the cotton wool!

Yeah 3 weeks...that's so soon :(

Geegrl19 · 08/06/2020 03:03

Oh @happydays00 poor baby. Ear infections must be the worst. So painful. And then the reaction. It really does feel neverending doesn't it. I hope the new meds are starting to kick in.

Glad he pooped @Horehound and is back on track soon he sounds like he enjoys his food and is a carb monster. Is hard not to stress, but food can become a real control issue for them as they find it gets such a reaction. I'm sure when Nate stops eating I'll be stressing! As for poop. Nate has been known to do six in one day if he's been extra piggy 😳 the first couple are quite voluminous (front to back job) and then slow a bit after that. They also stink 😂 sometimes I'll think he's pooped, but it's just a trapped fart! The worst one is a poo in the morning nappy as it's also wet, but quite often he'll wait for a clean one. Nobody likes to poo in a dirty toilet do they

@kyles101 hope the work transition is smooth. I imagine it will be tougher in the UK with suspected corona and daycare than here. If they stopped the kids going if they're even slightly snotty there would never be any there!

As for us, I'm feeling pretty much ok now but could do with more sleep. Nate is full of snot and sleeping terribly. He's asleep on me at the moment. Can't say I'm hating the cuddles though and I'd only be up doing housework anyway. I hope the snot has slowed enough for him to go back on weds when I'm back at work. Some days it's only me there so I really can't take time off, so awkward, but what do you do.

Dyra · 08/06/2020 13:37

@Horehound Alice is going through a bit of a fusspot phase with her food too. Don't know if her gums are hurting her (balls! I forgot to pick up bonjela! 🤦🏻‍♀️) but she also is pretty much only eating fruit and picking at everything else. Just riding it out. Poor Arthur and his poop! One day he'll get there without the medicine. Alice is a once, occasionally twice, a day pooper. There's effectively two times of the day she'll go as well. Either first thing after she wakes up, or at about 3pm.

Ear infections are dreadful. Poor you and LO @happydays00. And then to have a penicillin allergy on top of that! Sad Hope DS is recovering quickly and you've caught up on some sleep.

@Geegrl19 What a horrendous sequence of events... One day you'll catch the break you so richly deserve. Eventually Nate will have caught everything nursery has to throw at him. Hoping he'll be back to his normal self soon.

@kyles101 How cute on the kisses! Alice gives kisses to her own reflection.... Or at least motors face first into all mirrors with her mouth open. 🤷🏼‍♀️ We get little waves, and she's starting to try to clap. 🥰 She's another trying to walk before she can crawl properly. Ditto on the climbing over us. We've had several NO's now. Mainly trying to touch the TV, eating phone chargers and poking at plug sockets. She's ok when I say no, but she bursts into tears whenever DH says no to her. You'll both be fine when you return to work. ❤️

kyles101 · 08/06/2020 14:59

@Horehound they're usually all pretty volumous, a good 3 tablespoons I'd say, although they're often a bit smaller and harder if I've not been good with the water.

He's having a strange day today, refusing food and absolutely wild!! He managed to pull up on the footstool twice but now can't manage it again and has been absolutely raging about it. 5th tooth (the other top middle) is through so can't blame that. Send wine!

Horehound · 08/06/2020 21:35

Hey everyone, I am giving up on cloth nappies. I just hate everything about them!
So I am going to sell my stash and wondered if anyone here is interested in them?
I have 10x tots bots easy fit stars. Five were bought in Dec 2019 and 5 were bought this May. All in very good condition the may ones are like new except the velcro edges which has slight wear which I believe is common.
I have 3 X Bumgenious Elementals V5 barely used cause I hated them so much.
4 X bamboozle stretchies size 2 and 4 X size 2 peanut wraps to go with them all bought in May so basically brand new ..have only used them like three times!
I can post photos if anyone is interested
