Omg 6! What what a trooper pooper lol

Ha yes we have lots of random stuff in our freezer that we just never seem to get round to using.
Oh god we had the worst night. The house is too hot.arthurs room started off at 28deg last night so he slept in a nappy and very very thing t shirt and over the night droped to 24 but was still too hot. He woke loads, nappy leaked, was wide awake at 3am then at 5am omg. I'm sooo tired.
Luckily dh is on annual leave today and has him but now I'm trying to sleep the neighbour has started strimming ffs!

Now lockdown is in phase one in Scotland my parents will come round for a BBQ in the garden

Horehound · 29/05/2020 09:09

No sorry, chainsawing. Great!

kyles101 · 29/05/2020 10:30

Excellent, hope you manage to get some sleep in.

Nursery has been hot here too, apparently 25 - usually I it him down in a romper but some nights has just been a nappy and a large mussy as a bit of a blankie. He likes to have something over him I think like I do as the couple of nights I've tried him with nothing at all he's woken more. But he has a top tooth that is taking forever to cut through, also suspect that has something to do with poop-mania

2 of my mummy friends are coming over for lunch in the garden next week, I'm so excited! And meeting my brother and sister for a dog walk too.

DS all booked in for settling in days at nursery at the end of June. It's come around so quickly and I'm so sad that so much of his first year has been spent cooped up in the house and garden. We'll make up for it in time though.

Horehound · 29/05/2020 11:20

Yeh that's right, I prefer even just a flat sheet over me if it's too hot. Strange but guess it's comforting.
Eek yeh it's fine around so fast, hasn't it? Are you going back full time or part time?
I have sorted nursery three days a week from August but I haven't asked work about going part time yet and I'm now at risk of redundancy. If I do get kept on though and they say no to my request my mum has said she will take Arthur two days a week so that's taken the worry off whether nursery can have him or not.

Your plans sound lovely. I love a good dog walk :)

Dyra · 29/05/2020 14:24

It's been hot in Alice's nursery too, but it's only reached heights of 26°C (28°C! You have a very well insulated nursery!). However, she's been extremely unsettled the past few nights. I don't know if it's the heat or a tooth or both. She's slept in just a vest most nights. We did try in just a nappy when it was 26°C, but she woke up every time I put her down.

Then there's me with my 10 tog duvet.... Need a fan though. If we have another heat wave over the summer we'll take the duvet out and sleep with just the cover.

kyles101 · 29/05/2020 14:56

Yep, always need something over me, wouldn't want to shock an intruder if they broke in during the night 😂

Can't wait for our dog walk. Around some well shaded woods too so should be nice and cool.

I'm just going back 3 days 8-2 - one of the silver linings of the coronavirus means I get my dream hours rather than the 5 days I was asked to go back to!! Although obviously it's due to a slow down at work but hopefully it's only temporary and I can use the interim to organise things so I can keep 3 or max 4 days 🤞

That's nice about your mum having Arthur, I think my mum would feel a bit guilty as she didn't have my brothers little boy, but she did work full time then. My SIL did say she would have him every other Friday when her work patterns go back to normal so that'll be a nice change for him if so.

I really miss swimming with him, perhaps limited numbers in an outdoor lido would be allowed this year? I really hope so, we have a few near us.

Horehound · 29/05/2020 18:55

Eek we reached 29deg this afternoon in his room. I was panicking but my mum said he will just sweat.
He did and then he had a feed and then lots of water. He's had more purée than stodgy stuff today so that will also help with rehydration I guess. Arthur is the same @dyra and I am sure it's a mix of the heat/covers and teeth.

Oh that's good you got the hours you wanted then @kyles101! Surely your brother would understand now if your mum could look after him because she isn't working full time now.

Fingers crossed for your swimming. We have the heat pump on which brought our pool temp up a bit. Hopefully me and dh will go for a dip when Arthur's in bed but it's too cold for him still. May take another few days to get temp up some more. Otherwise I'm not sure I can take him in it.

Dyra · 29/05/2020 22:40

That's nice of your Mum @Horehound. Hopefully work will grant your request and she won't be needed.

@kyles101 I'm sure your brother would understand. Things are different now, and I'm sure if she could have had your nephew she would have.

I was also hoping to go swimming with Alice at the outdoor pool. In ordinary times, it would have reopened last weekend. It's seasonal, so hoping they'll get some open time before they close again in September. 🤞🏻We did get the paddling pool out for her, but it's not just not warming up. 😔

Still not heard anything from the nursery about them sending out contracts.... I'm contacting them on Monday and playing my key worker card. I don't want to be pushy, but I need to let my work know what days I need very soon. God I hope they still have a space for me.

kyles101 · 29/05/2020 23:24

That was my panic too @Dyra but my place see,s to have gone all very accommodating- apparently numbers are way down. Also re pool I've seen people do something clever with black bin bags to heat them - by the look of it cover the water with it touching maybe? Google will know I'm sure

happydays00 · 30/05/2020 22:10

We have an AC unit from my daughters box room at our old house and that's managed t keep DS's room a nice 21 degrees. Unfortunately DS has still been unsettled, I'm putting it down to 2 top teeth trying to cut through (for about 3 weeks 😩😩) he's also taken to lobbing most of his food off the tray at every meal apart from dinner. This is regardless of whether he's eating "alone" or with the rest of the family. It's so messy!

We're very fortunate to have a heated pool so have been living in that, DS has been loving it but I am really, really looking forward to when we can go back to baby groups etc

Dyra · 31/05/2020 00:43

Alice is very, very, very unsettled tonight.

Pretty sure it's due to teeth being on the move. However I tried giving her some Nurofen, and it all came straight back up.... This is a regular occurrence with medicine with her. Sad I don't think she's allergic, I think it's all to do with her gag reflex. I just want my baby to not be in pain.

kyles101 · 31/05/2020 07:55

Oh it's so awful when they're clearly in pain. Would she have kept it down if it was mixed with a drop of milk?

Dyra · 31/05/2020 08:44

No idea. I might look into suppositories. Much less mess to clean up.

Geegrl19 · 31/05/2020 10:00

Nice to hear you're all having lovely weather. Is the first day of winter here tomorrow and ours is supposed to turn terrible.

I've got a poorly boy too. My Fitbit recorded 3 hours sleep for me last night and he's been awful today. Maybe a reaction to his flu shot? He's been soooo whingy and has also come out with a viral rash on his chest and back. I so hope he has a good night tonight. My patience is very thin now and I feel like the most awful person. He wouldn't even let me comfort him ☹️

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 31/05/2020 21:25

Hello!

I properly fell off this thread!

Dc5 is nearly walking! Anyone else having this unexpectedly early?

Dyra · 01/06/2020 08:48

Welcome back! How's the uni work going?Sounds like DECAF5 wants to emulate and play with his older siblings!

Alice is doing her damned hardest to walk, but she's still a long way off. All she wants to do is stand and walk around holding onto DH's or my fingers. She did pull up on the furniture all by herself for the first time yesterday. She hasn't figured out how to get herself into a sitting position yet.

It was a bit of a better night last night. No painkillers needed, but still multiple wake ups. Hope your nights got a bit better with Nate @Geegrl19.

Horehound · 01/06/2020 09:28

Hope Alice and Nate are better today. Poor things

Horehound · 01/06/2020 09:35

Arthur wants to walk but can only do it holding our hands although yesterday he pulled himself to stand and just stood unaided for a couple of seconds. I think he definitely will before he's one.

Geegrl19 · 01/06/2020 09:54

Thanks everyone. He's quite a bit better today thank goodness but not quite there. Still very clingy. I think if he could crawl inside my skin he would!

I bet baby decaf last looks very cute trying to walk. Obviously wants to joins in with his bigger siblings 😊

He's finally figured out how to crawl properly too instead of dragging himself. It's very cute. He constantly pulls himself up too now.

db92 · 01/06/2020 10:04

I'm glad Nates a little better today. Hopefully another few days and he'll be back to himself.

And hey to decaf! Ellis is very close. He's been killing himself ip on furniture for a while now and will confidently walk along the sofas. I think he'll possibly be walking by the end of the month

Geegrl19 · 02/06/2020 07:16

Thanks@db92. It's going to be strange when they're walking. They look too little.

Hey everyone, especially bf babies. What with food now how much has your feeding schedule changed? Nate is nowhere near as interested in feeding and hardly stays on for a couple of minutes at a time during the day. I worry he's not getting enough fluid as he drinks very little water. It's like the milk isn't satisfying enough now compared to food, which I get. He doesn't have super heavy nappies in the day, but plenty of poo. His soft spot is always a little sunken. Did mention to health nurse at last check up but she wasn't concerned.

THATscurryfungeBITCH · 02/06/2020 07:20

Uni is done for now dyra my final assessments were cancelled and i should get my results next month. Looking at the online calculator i should have passed both modules although not fantastically. Still a pass is a pass. So i am half way to my degree. Next modules start in october.

None of my other dc walked until around their birthdays! I am not ready for walking probably at 9 months Sad

Ds is formula fed. Down to four bottles unless wants one during the night. 3 x 9oz and then one 10 oz. He pretty much always drinks it all.

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 02/06/2020 09:34

@Geegrl19 We've definitely reduced feeds but she is still feeding through the day. Not as regularly and not for as long though, and then feeds 2/3/4 times through the night. In this heat I have been trying to feed her more and if she's not interested then I make sure to hold her beaker to help her get a decent amount of water. Are you doing puree or BLW? Cos if it's puree you can make sure they're getting some fluid then as well.

Can't believe all these babies thinking about walking! We're not even attempting crawling here. Dd1 didn't crawl until nearly her 1st birthday, I just seem to produce chubby, lazy babies! She's a slim active toddler now though so not worried about DD2.

Megan2018 · 02/06/2020 10:40

Felicity is still BF, she feeds a bit less in the day most days and feeds are shorter but when it’s hot I offer more and she usually will feed. We still have heavy wet nappies but she does hold it in and does fewer bigger weed-usually just as I take the nappy off Grin

I’d say we average 4-5 daytime feeds and then 2-3 at night. Some of that is comfort though.

Horehound · 02/06/2020 14:30

Arthur has three to four feeds in day but always 4mins ish but that's always been normal for him.
Then usually a feed around 10pm, 2am and 4/5am recently. But if a bugger cause he was sleeping really well and now it's all gone to shit I think because his teeth are hurting him.
I read in the book I have babies do not need night feeds from 9montbs really but I have no idea how to stop it. :S
