@Geegrl19 We have the opposite problem with no, say it firmly and she'll burst into loud sobs. But probably still do what you're saying Not to do 🙈 Catherine has her Whiney moments but shrieking is a bigger issue in our house.

Geegrl19 · 06/12/2020 22:11

@Littlehouseinthebigcity I used to be like that when I was little my mum said. She only had to talk to me in a stern voice and I'd cry! I just appear to have a destroyer. He wrecked the hinge on my little sideboard and tipped DH'S drink on his laptop yesterday (that was his fault though as I bet he wasn't watching properly!)

There's probably 3 things Nate gets told off for in the lounge area that I can't move and he gravitates towards them constantly, grr. Like you say, just have to persevere with the nos. Not even worth raising my voice. Nate loves a good squeal too. Kills my ears. When he cries he sound like George from Peppa pig. I'm sure there is glass shattering somewhere...

iano · 06/12/2020 23:09

Mine doesn't take any notice of 'no'. I have to physically move him and he runs straight back laughing like a maniac Hmm
We have a few words. DS1 is upset his name isn't one of them. They play catch now which is very cute. We also get lovely kisses. DS1 didn't really do that so it's a novelty for us. They kiss each other good night and DS1 says 'i love you DS2' which makes my heart melt. Makes up for the pushing and shoving we see throughout the day. Wink

Dyra · 07/12/2020 00:24

Alice does one of two things when told no. Either she: lies face down on the floor and fake cries OR she turns to give me a big beaming smile before continuing on with exactly what she was doing. Either way, physical removal is required, at which point I either get deafened by squeals, or she happily kicks her legs as she's transported through the air.

But the squeals..... My God, the squeals... I 100% get why my Mum is deaf now.

Awwwww. That sounds very cute @iano.

PollyRoe16 · 10/12/2020 22:40

With you on the squealing when told no! It's enough to burst your ear drums!
Arlo just thinks it's a game to pull the decorations off the tree 😩
Currently suffering with another dreaded lurgy from nursery resulting in a trip to get a COVID test - thankfully it's negative but he's so miserable with it atm there's a lot of tv watching: he's developed an obsession with Finding Nemo and will shout Mo mo! Until you put it on. He'll even bring you the remote 😂

Rubinia · 18/12/2020 20:16

How's everyone? What are you getting your DC for Christmas?
(It's iano btw)

Dyra · 21/12/2020 23:38

Doing ok ty. Alice is sleeping through the night! Woo hoo! How's things with you?

For Christmas, we've gotten Alice: some books (lots of the That's not my... series), a shape hammer thingy, an aquadoodle, toddler sized table and chairs, some crayons, and some paint sticks. Pretty sure family are going to inundate her with toys and clothes.

I've not been doing too great with messy play, and Alice isn't a big fan of doing it at nursery. So it's time to encourage it much more at home.

Rubinia · 22/12/2020 20:35

Well done Alice, that's great news!! An early Christmas present for you @Dyra

Sounds like a great selection. I feel like DS2 hasn't got enough. We have so many books and toys from DS1 I've been reluctant to get more. I hope he'll be happy with his ball, clothes, books and toy car.

I don't really do messy play with DS2. We do a lot of walking so he's always muddy but I'm not sure I do enough play dough/painting etc.

Dyra · 25/12/2020 20:06

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope everyone has had a lovely day, and Santa brought everything out little ones wanted.

Alice's favourite present? A LED light spinner stocking filler. 🙄

drumst1ck · 25/12/2020 22:32

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you've all had a lovely day despite the trainwreck of a year we've had!

Favourite present here was a tiny puppy stuffed toy. She's now carrying it around everywhere and woofing constantly!

Geegrl19 · 26/12/2020 03:54

Hi all. Hope you all had a great day. I was exhausted last night. Always a good day isn't it. Nate's fav seems to be his cuddly reindeer he got from a colouring comp (scribble comp) from dh's work. Everything gets called a dog, lol

Geegrl19 · 31/12/2020 22:57

Happy New year everyone! I was asleep before, lol.

Dyra · 31/12/2020 23:30

Happy new year @Geegrl19! Hopefully 2021 is treating you much kinder so far than 2020 did.

Still 30-ish minutes left of this hellish year for those of us in the UK. It's so strange. Alice has now spent 60% of her life in a pandemic under some form of lockdown. I know Alice will have zero recollection of this time, and seems to be virtually unaffected developmentally, but it's incredibly far from how I thought my first full year as a mum would go.

All furry creatures that Alice likes the look of is a "Gat".

drumst1ck · 01/01/2021 11:41

Here's to a less crappy 2021! Hope you all have a lovely new year.

Totally agree @Dyra this is not what I expected my first year as a mum to be like. Let's hope we can get to experience a bit more of 'normal' parenting this year. And roll on April when I won't be pregnant anymore. Second pregnancies it turns out are a lot harder 😅

Geegrl19 · 02/01/2021 22:18

Ooh yes, exciting times ahead for you @drumst1ck. Not long now. I really feel for you guys with how the cases have been out of control there. Very scary. My mum didn't get to go to my sister's house for Christmas day so felt bad for her too. Shit times.

Nate seems to have developed his own language. Instead of individual sounds it's flowing gibberish. If only I knew what it meant! We wonder if all the daycare babies speak the same language.

He has massive lumps in his gums where I can see the first molars (pointy ones bit in yet either). Looks so painful and he constantly has not hands in his mouth. Very hygienic. He is also dummy obsessed. They're called na-nas. Go figure, lol.

drumst1ck · 03/01/2021 00:19

@Geegrl19 we have na na's as well! However it seems to be related to anything circular. Buttons, circles, screws, you name it, anything circular is a na na. Absolutely no idea why.

KnobJockey · 03/01/2021 17:31

Happy new year everyone ☺️

Dyra · 03/01/2021 20:17

My mum would be beside herself with joy if Alice could say nana. Love it when Alice is babbling away to herself.

Gosh @drumst1ck. Time has bloody flown by . You're halfway there! Have you had your 20 week scan yet?

Happy new year @KnobJockey! 🥳 Hope it's treated you well so far.

drumst1ck · 03/01/2021 22:11

@Dyra yes 26 weeks now! All went well at the scan, decided to have another suprise so will find out come April what we are having 😃 pulled out all the newborn bits today and can't believe how tiny they are!!

Happy new year @KnobJockey!

KnobJockey · 05/01/2021 09:52

@drumst1ck 26 weeks 😲 I still can't get my head around more babies (not happening here anyway) as that would mean Indie definitely isn't a baby any more 😭😭

Rubinia · 05/01/2021 21:08

Oh wow @drumst1ck that's gone fast!!
How are you feeling about giving birth? Has the care been very impacted?
I can't even imagine being pregnant again. DS2 seems so tiny still.

He loves saying cracker or nana. He uses them interchangeably which can be a tad confusing. If he's super hungry it's just mooooooooore and then lots of angry screeching.
Nothing much else is being said. Clearly likes his food. 🤣

drumst1ck · 06/01/2021 08:42

@Rubinia so far other than DH not being able to come to the scans there hasn't been much of a difference in care which is good! For birth I'm actually strongly considering a home birth if they're running in my area at the time. Would mean I don't have to worry about the possibility of DH not being allowed in for any of it!

drumst1ck · 12/01/2021 09:22

Anyone elses baby eat insane amounts in the morning?! This morning we are onto our 4th Weetabix and she's also had a banana, some berries and some rice krispies as well...

She always eats tons at breakfast and then barely touches lunch at all! Should I be limiting how much she eats at breakfast do you think? She just keeps saying MORE after every bowl full 😂

db92 · 12/01/2021 10:29

E eats like a monster all day long! Maybe it's their age and growing etc?

Have tried to catch up but seems like I've missed a lot. Glad all the babies (or should I say toddlers now?!?) seem to be doing well. Notice lots of talk about starting to talk and saying words.... we have a big fat zero over here. I know he can say mama and dada but has completely stopped for a good 3 months now. Health visitor says not to worried but I am starting to be concerned that he won't say anything at all. Not even sounds such as d sounds. Just makes a grunty moany noise in different pitches depending on what he's trying to achieve.

KnobJockey · 12/01/2021 13:22

Indies the opposite on food- if she can ignore breakfast and have a bottle of milk instead she will. But after her afternoon nap she will happily just keep on trenching!
